“Lucy and the family looked after my basset hound again. So lovely to know he’s been a part of the family and been so well looked after. Thank you so much, can’t wait for him to stay again”

“zulu loves spending time with you and your family. She has loved this whole weekend and is now completely knackered bless her. Great communication and photos sent during the time zulu spent.”

“Lisa was incredible with Norman, taking him on lots of exciting new walks/parks and keeping us updated regularly with photos! We know Norman had an amazing time, and we had a lovely weekend away fully trusting he was in good hands. Would definitely recommend, thank you again!!”

“This is the 3rd time Sophie has looked after our fur baby and I could honestly never go elsewhere now. The love she gives our girl when she’s in her care is impeccable, she really does love her like her own. I really cannot recommend Sophie enough for everything she does and the care she provides”

“I was worried about Winston going away as he rarely goes anywhere. Mark and Fee allowed us to visit first and made me feel far more relaxed and reassured. Winston was more than happy to stay with them and calm and happy when we picked him up. They updated me to let me know he was ok. Highly recommended, thanks Mark”

“Very happy to recommend Trina’s service. She was extremely welcoming and clearly enjoys looking after her “guests”. Lovely garden for Sparkle to explore. We were able to enjoy our day at a wedding even more knowing that Sparkle was being well cared for”

“Stacey was such an amazing sitter! Arya was so happy when we picked her up. Stacey gave us lots of updates and pictures, gave Arya toys and plenty of fun walks. We felt so safe and reassured that Arya was in a loving family home. I would highly recommend Stacey and her family again! 🐾”

“Alison is a brilliant sitter. It was the first time our small dog has been left with anyone but family, so we were very apprehensive, but straight from the off Alison but our minds at rest, she messaged, took videos & pictures throughout the day, reassuring us that our dog had settled in well. When I went to collect her she seemed very happy & content. Thank you Alison for providing a lovely second home for our dog, we will certainly be using Alison on a regular basic.”

“I would give Nikita and her partner more than 5 stars if I could, to evidence how grateful we are for the seriously top notch care they showed our dogs while boarding them. Our dogs were clearly very well cared for, exercised, and given lots of affection which is more than we could have expected as this was their first time with Nikita. As our dogs have never been boarded, we were really nervous about how it would go but we were instantly put at ease when we met Nikita in her home on short notice. It also helps that our dogs took to her immediately, and seemed really happy in her presence. Nikita and her partner boarded our two (rather boisterous) dogs for two days. We were sent regular updates and photos, and Nikita was always responsive when contacted. They were also extremely accommodating when we were delayed in picking our dogs up which was very appreciated. They went out of their way to show our dogs a great time. Nikita was very professional and thorough in her prep, asking us all the relevant and necessary questions which no doubt comes from a place of significant experience caring for animals. Big bonus is Nikita's love for rescue animals! She and her partner are complete naturals and they made us feel like our dogs had a second home when we were away. We will no doubt reach out to her without hesitation the next time we need someone to care for our dogs, and strongly recommend her to anyone else looking for a safe, comfortable boarding experience for their animals. A big thank you to Nikita and her partner!”

“Abby was so lovely and amazing with Norman! We felt really at ease leaving him with her, and got some great photos of him having the best time. Would definitely recommend, thanks so much Abby!”

“Hannah & Jordan are absolutely fantastic with our old boy Murphy. They take him for lovely walks and dips in the water. He goes straight in when he's dropped off which shows us how comfortable and happy he is. It fills us with so much confidence knowing he is relaxed & settled. We can leave him and not have to worry as we know he is in the best hands! His next stay with Hannah & Jordan is already booked!!”

“Charlotte and her husband were amazing with my boy Alan! I couldn’t have asked for better care for him. I was really nervous leaving him for a week but the photos and messages made me feel really at ease. I could tell when I picked him up that he had been cared for well. I would leave 6 stars if possible!”

“Victoria looked after our dog Otto this weekend. He has stayed with her once before and always has the best time! It's so nice for us to see Otto excited to see Victoria again and for us to be able to relax knowing that he is being well looked after.”

“We were kept up to date with photos and contact throughout each day when Cedar stayed for 3 days with Annie. He came back happy and content and we would definitely recommend and use Annie again.”

“My first time using Rover - dropped my puppy Gus off with Amber whilst I was visiting Cornwall for a festival. He had such a good weekend with her and her dogs. Amber sent me regular cute updates so I knew he was in good hands! Thanks so much!”

“Harriet really helped us out of a tight jam super last minute. We’d had a mix up with our normal kennel just 2 days before we were due to go on holiday for a week and she responded to our plea immediately. The dogs loved their time with her, she gave us regular updates and photos and it was clear how much care she took of our two dogs whilst they were with her. Nice long walks, beaches, cuddles they had a blast. She was even kind enough to collect and drop them off, and she shampooed them before returning. Couldn’t have asked for more! Highly recommend! Would happily use Harriet’s services again xx”

“Olivia was amazing with Bertie. She kept me informed daily and he was crying when I drove off with him. So he must have bonded with her. I will be book with Olivia all the time from now on.”

“Tracey and Sarah have given Belle an amazing time, lovely walks and lots of play time, and has made a new friend with their dog River. Tracey kept me well informed with what Belle was up too, lots of regular photos. I recommend Tracey and we will definitely be using her again. Thank you xx”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
