George was really understanding about Phoebe's delicate nature, and loved and looked after her as I would do. He is an excellent house guest, and I would highly recommend him. I shall be booking George again when I next go away.

Dave was brilliant with Bruce yesterday. First time we have left him with somebody other than family. He had a great time and they were best of friends by the time Dave left last night. Can’t praise him enough for how he looked after our boy. Thank you Dave. Julie

Blanka was a superstar dog sitter. She looked after 2 golden retrievers for us for 7 hrs so we could go to a wedding and obviously loves dogs. Fed and watered them and sent lots of photos. Would thoroughly recommend her and hope to use her services again!

About: Hi, I’m Abby, I'm 22 years old and love dogs!! I had many dogs growing up and was in charge of looking after them, but unfortunately I can't have any pets now due to my lifestyle. I haven’t got any kids around so no need to worry if your dog isn’t great with children. I love going for walks with your furry friends - I live right next to a woodland area, which is perfect for going on walks. I am a full-time nurse, working 4 days/week, and my schedule does vary by the week, but the calendar will be updated regularly. I am a full-time nurse, so I spend 4 days/week working at the hospital, however when I am not on working, I am often available. I would love to spend my days off looking after your furry friends, walking them during the day and keeping them busy! I live in a home with a small enclosed garden. My home is right next to a large park/woodland area with many paths and routes to walk your dogs.

About: I’ve had pets in my family home as long as I can remember, including three dogs, two cats, two tortoises, fish and hamsters over the years. I’ve always loved being around and looking after animals, especially dogs. I grew up with an English Springer spaniel and a Dandie Dinmont terrier - two dogs that were polar opposites but both affectionate and loyal - what more can you ask for? After they both passed away last year, my mum brought a Maltese poodle puppy called Lola into the family home and it’s reminded me of how playful and loving pets are. In terms of experience, I’ve dog-sat and walked my mates Australian Labradoodle and previously looked after neighbours cats while they’ve been away. If you’re interested, please feel free to reach out - Thanks. I work full-time for a multinational professional services company however my job is fully remote and employees are entrusted to work flexible hours to manage their own work schedules. I’d love the extra bit of company when working from home and the opportunity to get out on walks during the day. I live in a dog- friendly duplex flat with open plan living and kitchen and a small-medium sized balcony. I understand this may be off putting but I’m a 3 minute walk from Lovell Park, and only a 10 minute walk from the canal, which I often run along and is very popular with dog walkers. I have a very comfortable sofa and plenty open floor space to roam around

Emma was wonderful with our dog Dora. She kept us up to date with photos and videos, plenty of walks and play time. Will 100% choose Emma again to look after our girl. And 100% recommend to anyone who is anxious about leaving their furry baby as Emma was amazing.

As a first time for having someone other than family look after our dog Bailey, I was a little nervous/anxious about the whole thing. But from our first meeting to the end of the actual booking I have been so impressed by India, I honestly have nothing but praise and gratitude for her. Bailey absolutely loves her, India has a caring warmth about her which which radiates. We were away through the heat wave and India kept us fully updated, she even brought her own cooling mat to help Bailey whilst also conversing with us if there was anything we usually do to keep Bailey cool. We were sent photos and given updates and knew we could contact India if we had any cocerns. India left our home exactly how she found it and it was great to come home and not worry about cleaning or stripping beds as India had done it for the room she stayed in. We can not recommend India enough and would be more than happy to book her again if we manage to get away! Thank you India x

About: When I was younger we had guinea pigs (6 over the years). I am an auntie to 2 gorgeous bunnies, who I regularly take care of. Also a cousin of 2 very energetic dogs who have various sleepovers with me and lots of walks! Frequently take care of our neighbour's cats. I am currently a remote worker so have flexibility on location. I am out walking most mornings and evenings and would be great to have a little friend to accompany me! My house has a big back garden which is fenced off and enough space downstairs to accommodate furry guests. I am also situated next to the woods, great for walking.

Joe, did a great job looking after Rusty for us. He kept in touch via a WhatsApp link and it was obvious that Rusty felt very relaxed and happy in his company. Joe sorted out some good walks and flexed Rusty’s normal schedule so they were walking in the cool of the evening rather than the midday heat. Joe was also kind enough to keep plants watered whilst we were away. We’d happily ask Joe to sit for us again.

Thank you so much Sophie & Nick. My dog is very anxious and has separation anxiety. Sophie & Nick took the time to get to know him and gently introduce him. It's clear to me how much they care about dogs, as my boy was very well looked after. Sophie sent lots of photos snd regularly updated me on how he was managing. Highly recommended and will certainly book their services again.

About: My experience with just dealing with pets is having my own animals from young. I've had fish, hamster, guinea pigs and dogs. My first dog was a rescued Boxer, Ruben. My first proper puppy was a Pug, Dexter, then we rescued Alfie another Pug at the same age as Dexter (around 4yrs.) My house sitting and pet experience was living in an annexe above my landladys garage. She had a working cocker, Zeva. She'd trust me with looking after her house and Zeva while she had to go away for work or on holiday. That was over 2yrs of me living there. I even took Zeva away with my boyfriend and I as we went to Bournemouth for a weekend I was looking after her. We got a pet friendly accomodation and she had the best time on the beach and in the sea playing with her ball. I work 3 days a week, so have plenty of time for sitting and walking pets. I like to walk daily, so dog walking is well suited with my lifestyle. I care for pets in an owners home by communicating with the owners in the first instance to see what responsibilities they expect of their sitter to make sure their animals are in perfect care.

Liana stepped in at the last minute to look after our dogs after a previous dog sitter who we booked last October let us down, this was an important occasion my daughter’s wedding. I was amazed how calm she was and I felt at ease straight away. Asking someone to look after 8 dogs albeit small ones is a big ask, but she was brilliant and I really hope they behaved for her! I would definitely ask to rebook her again, and I’m grateful to my friend who recommended Rover.

Florence was a wonderful dog sitter for our boy, Diesel. He is a reactive dog so requires quite a few instructions - she followed them brilliantly and was so patient with him. He was a very happy boy when we came home from holiday and had clearly had a lovely time with her. Thank you, Florence!

Kizzie is a kind, intelligent, calm & knowledgeable dog sitter. She looked after my dog who is only 4 months old for one week, and I have come back to a calm and well behaved little puppy. Thank you Kizzie for your care and attention to baby Molly. I would wholly recommend Kizzie. She kept me informed all week and I wasn’t worried at all about Molly. Thanks again.

Bryony was fantastic with our dog Juno. She was kind, caring, and really attentive to Juno’s needs, which gave us great peace of mind while we were at work. She was also very flexible with times and days, which we really appreciated. Juno clearly had a great time with her, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book Bryony again. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred West Devon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Devon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
