Sara did a fabulous job looking after our little dog, Chewie. She kept us updated with regular messages, and really reassured us that he was being well looked after. Sara completed an in-home stay, and the house was left absolutely pristine. We look forward to having Sara care for Chewie again in the near future and couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

Skye was immense and everything you could need in a sitter. She is clearly an animal lover and we came home to find our dog as happy as can be. He’d been amazingly looked after and she had helped his training along. I’d 100% use Skye to help out with care in the future.

About: I may not have had a pet of my own, but I have hands-on experience caring for puppies, kittens, and adult dogs, including animals living on the streets who required patience, attention, and gentle care. I have also looked after my cousin’s and best friend’s dogs as my own, ensuring they felt safe, loved, and well cared for. I have over three years of pet care experience (pet boarding, house sitting, pet walking, pet day care) and am comfortable administering oral medication when required. I am currently a student so i am mostly home. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of time, attention, and care throughout the day. I plan my routine around feeding times, walks, play, rest, and any special needs to ensure pets feel comfortable and settled. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I’m attentive, calm, and mindful of pets’ boundaries and behaviour cues. I follow instructions carefully, maintain clean and secure surroundings, and make sure pets feel safe, relaxed, and cared for at all times.

About: ❗Please note that prices are subject to travel cost and time! 🐶🐈‍⬛ I always liked being around animals and when I was young we adopted a cat and a couple of years later a dog too! I got to learn how to take good care of them on a day-to-day basis, and gained experience in handling pet visits, care after surgery and managing their requirements. Our family had multiple self-trained dogs before, so I can assure you that yours will be in safe hands as well :) I'm a university students who likes to move, go out a lot and explore! I'm quite flexible as I don't have to be in every day and I'm also happy to hop in before and after lectures. I'm sure we will be able to find a time that fits us both! I consider myself a patient and cooperative person with both dogs and cats of all kind! I always pay attention to their body language to make sure they are feeling well and comfortable in their environment. Additionally, I make sure that your pet get their daily movement and engagement by walks and playing, and of course to receive proper nutrition and hygiene. I even enjoy having small training sessions with them! Every pet is different so please let me know about their requirements and needs! I'm looking forward to working with you and your pet! :))

About: 🐈‍⬛I have been around animals all my life and have always had a cat until recently, when she sadly passed away. Caring for animals has always been a big part of my life, and I regularly look after my family’s cat. 🐶Having grown up with dogs in the family, I’m experienced and confident caring for them in their own homes, where they feel most comfortable. Friends and family regularly trust me to look after their dogs, whether that’s while they’re away or simply checking in during the day. 🐾 I’m happy to provide companionship, feeding, playtime, and walks during work hours to keep pets happy and settled. 🐶I’ve also helped care for a friend’s puppy while they were still in training, so I’m patient, consistent, and understand the importance of maintaining routines and reinforcing good habits. 📞📷I completely understand the need for communication when it comes to your fur babies. I know how important they are to you, so I’ll make sure to keep you updated regularly with messages, photos, and videos, giving you peace of mind while you’re away. I’m currently taking a break from work, so I have good availability particularly on week days, although I do appreciate a little notice where possible. I love spending my time with animals and will always do my best to fit in bookings, whether it’s drop-in visits for feeding and playtime, dog walks, or dog sitting. I live locally to some lovely dog walking areas such as Plymbridge and Saltram, but I do drive so happy to go further afield as well. Every walk is tailored to your dog’s individual needs, ensuring they’re safe, happy, and having plenty of fun. Your pet’s happiness, comfort, and care will always be my priority. I will always treat your home with the utmost respect and understand how important it is for your pets to feel comfortable, safe, and secure in their own environment. I will ensure their routine is maintained and provide them with plenty of care, attention, and reassurance while you’re away. I work in the public sector and have up to date DBS checks.

About: My experience with just dealing with pets is having my own animals from young. I've had fish, hamster, guinea pigs and dogs. My first dog was a rescued Boxer, Ruben. My first proper puppy was a Pug, Dexter, then we rescued Alfie another Pug at the same age as Dexter (around 4yrs.) My house sitting and pet experience was living in an annexe above my landladys garage. She had a working cocker, Zeva. She'd trust me with looking after her house and Zeva while she had to go away for work or on holiday. That was over 2yrs of me living there. I even took Zeva away with my boyfriend and I as we went to Bournemouth for a weekend I was looking after her. We got a pet friendly accomodation and she had the best time on the beach and in the sea playing with her ball. I work 3 days a week, so have plenty of time for sitting and walking pets. I like to walk daily, so dog walking is well suited with my lifestyle. I care for pets in an owners home by communicating with the owners in the first instance to see what responsibilities they expect of their sitter to make sure their animals are in perfect care.

About: I have experience with a variety of dog breeds. I have cared for dogs since I was young. I love all animals but I have a real soft spot for dogs. My partner and I, both work from home and have a good sized enclosed garden, so a great setup to care for dogs and make sure they are well attended to. I work fully remote and am available most weekends. Working from home means I am very flexible and can be with your pet all of the time. We have an enclosed garden. Your dog won’t be short of company and attention. Dogs allowed on furniture in our home for snuggles my main priority is that they are comfortable and happy.

Joe, did a great job looking after Rusty for us. He kept in touch via a WhatsApp link and it was obvious that Rusty felt very relaxed and happy in his company. Joe sorted out some good walks and flexed Rusty’s normal schedule so they were walking in the cool of the evening rather than the midday heat. Joe was also kind enough to keep plants watered whilst we were away. We’d happily ask Joe to sit for us again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Plymouth

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Plymouth on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 315 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Plymouth. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Plymouth walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plymouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
