Sophia took care of our 14m old working cocker spaniel whilst we were away for the weekend and was nothing short of exceptional - I’ve raved about her to everyone I’ve spoken to since. Her experience with cocker spaniels was really evident right from the start which gave her confidence and understanding with Percy as well as reassurance for us. Sophia provided regular updates over the course of the weekend, provided Percy with the attention and care he needed and was trustworthy and respectful in our home. We couldn’t ask for more. We will certainly book Sophia again and I’m very confident in recommending her to others.

Emma was fab with all our animals. We were kept up to date on how they were doing. Our dog has slight separation anxiety so was struggling at first. But in no time Emma had made her feel loved and calm. Was incredibly respectful in our home. Animals were so happy and everything left so tidy. Would recommend Emma to anyone and would definitely rebook again.

About: I may not have had a pet of my own, but I have hands-on experience caring for puppies, kittens, and adult dogs, including animals living on the streets who required patience, attention, and gentle care. I have also looked after my cousin’s and best friend’s dogs as my own, ensuring they felt safe, loved, and well cared for. I have over three years of pet care experience (pet boarding, house sitting, pet walking, pet day care) and am comfortable administering oral medication when required. I am currently a student so i am mostly home. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of time, attention, and care throughout the day. I plan my routine around feeding times, walks, play, rest, and any special needs to ensure pets feel comfortable and settled. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I’m attentive, calm, and mindful of pets’ boundaries and behaviour cues. I follow instructions carefully, maintain clean and secure surroundings, and make sure pets feel safe, relaxed, and cared for at all times.

About: ❗Please note that prices are subject to travel cost and time! 🐶🐈‍⬛ I always liked being around animals and when I was young we adopted a cat and a couple of years later a dog too! I got to learn how to take good care of them on a day-to-day basis, and gained experience in handling pet visits, care after surgery and managing their requirements. Our family had multiple self-trained dogs before, so I can assure you that yours will be in safe hands as well :) I'm a university students who likes to move, go out a lot and explore! I'm quite flexible as I don't have to be in every day and I'm also happy to hop in before and after lectures. I'm sure we will be able to find a time that fits us both! I consider myself a patient and cooperative person with both dogs and cats of all kind! I always pay attention to their body language to make sure they are feeling well and comfortable in their environment. Additionally, I make sure that your pet get their daily movement and engagement by walks and playing, and of course to receive proper nutrition and hygiene. I even enjoy having small training sessions with them! Every pet is different so please let me know about their requirements and needs! I'm looking forward to working with you and your pet! :))

About: I've been around dogs my whole life and have extensive hands-on experience caring for them. I currently have a 12-year-old working Cocker Spaniel who I've had since he was a puppy, so I've experienced every stage of a dog's life, from puppyhood through to senior care. I understand the importance of providing dogs with plenty of attention, exercise, companionship, and a safe environment where they feel comfortable and happy. Through caring for my own dog, I've gained experience with daily walks, feeding routines, administering basic care, and supporting an older dog with age-related needs. What sets me apart is my genuine love for dogs, my patience, and my understanding that every dog has their own personality and routine. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they receive lots of care, affection, and attention while in my care. 🐾❤️ Pet care is already a big part of my daily life. I work Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, which means I am available every evening for walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I also have weekends completely free, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pets in my care. During school holidays and half terms, I have full availability, giving me even more flexibility for pet sitting and dog walking. As a dog owner myself, caring for animals is something I do every day, and I understand the importance of maintaining routines, providing exercise, and ensuring pets feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I have a 12-year-old working Cocker Spaniel who I've cared for since he was a puppy, so looking after dogs is a natural part of my everyday routine. 🐾❤️ I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. I follow each owner's instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walking routines, medication requirements, and any specific needs their pet may have. In a pet owner's home, I aim to keep pets in their usual routine as much as possible to help them feel relaxed and settled. I'll provide plenty of attention, playtime, exercise, fresh water, and regular toilet breaks, as well as lots of affection and companionship. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know your pet is being cared for properly, so I'm happy to provide updates and photos for peace of mind. Having cared for my own Cocker Spaniel from puppyhood into his senior years, I'm comfortable looking after dogs of different ages, personalities, and activity levels. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always prioritise their happiness, safety, and wellbeing.

Joe, did a great job looking after Rusty for us. He kept in touch via a WhatsApp link and it was obvious that Rusty felt very relaxed and happy in his company. Joe sorted out some good walks and flexed Rusty’s normal schedule so they were walking in the cool of the evening rather than the midday heat. Joe was also kind enough to keep plants watered whilst we were away. We’d happily ask Joe to sit for us again.

About: 🐈‍⬛I have been around animals all my life and have always had a cat until recently, when she sadly passed away. Caring for animals has always been a big part of my life, and I regularly look after my family’s cat. 🐶Having grown up with dogs in the family, I’m experienced and confident caring for them in their own homes, where they feel most comfortable. Friends and family regularly trust me to look after their dogs, whether that’s while they’re away or simply checking in during the day. 🐾 I’m happy to provide companionship, feeding, playtime, and walks during work hours to keep pets happy and settled. 🐶I’ve also helped care for a friend’s puppy while they were still in training, so I’m patient, consistent, and understand the importance of maintaining routines and reinforcing good habits. 📞📷I completely understand the need for communication when it comes to your fur babies. I know how important they are to you, so I’ll make sure to keep you updated regularly with messages, photos, and videos, giving you peace of mind while you’re away. I love spending my time with animals and will always do my best to fit in bookings, whether it’s drop-in visits for feeding and playtime, dog walks, or dog sitting. I currently work Monday to Friday, however my hours can be quite flexible and I also have some days working from home. I’m able to pop out during my lunch breaks to check on pets or take them for a walk, and of course, if I was staying with a dog, I could fit walks in before and after work too. I live locally to some lovely dog walking areas such as Plymbridge and Saltram, but I do drive so happy to go further afield as well. Every walk is tailored to your dog’s individual needs, ensuring they’re safe, happy, and having plenty of fun. Your pet’s happiness, comfort, and care will always be my priority. I will always treat your home with the utmost respect and understand how important it is for your pets to feel comfortable, safe, and secure in their own environment. I will ensure their routine is maintained and provide them with plenty of care, attention, and reassurance while you’re away. I work in the public sector and have up to date DBS checks.

About: Hi, I’m Abby, I'm 22 years old and love dogs!! I had many dogs growing up and was in charge of looking after them, but unfortunately I can't have any pets now due to my lifestyle. I haven’t got any kids around so no need to worry if your dog isn’t great with children. I love going for walks with your furry friends - I live right next to a woodland area, which is perfect for going on walks. I am a full-time nurse, working 4 days/week, and my schedule does vary by the week, but the calendar will be updated regularly. I am a full-time nurse, so I spend 4 days/week working at the hospital, however when I am not on working, I am often available. I would love to spend my days off looking after your furry friends, walking them during the day and keeping them busy! I live in a home with a small enclosed garden. My home is right next to a large park/woodland area with many paths and routes to walk your dogs.

About: I currently own a 14 year old male Chihuahua named Milo. Myself and my boyfriend live in a home near central park but also have a lovely secure garden. In November 2025, alongside working full time I have been providing dog/house sitting for a 13 year old Pekingese, 2 guinea pigs and chicken where I offer a high level of care, administer oral medicine and take care of eye treatment and I understand the importance of patience, routine, and attentive care — especially with senior dogs. I have really taken to enjoying looking after someone else's pets so I registered as self employed and have decided to pick up some Rover clients too! I have experience with owning my own dog, a rabbit when I was around 11, plus my grandparents had sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, and all manner of farm animals which I was happily involved in from a young age! My work schedule varies as I currently work full-time, with typical shifts falling between Monday–Saturday (8:30am–5:30pm) and Sunday (10am–4pm). However, I’m always happy to discuss your pet’s individual needs and come to an arrangement that works best for them. Whether your pet is comfortable with shorter periods alone or requires more companionship, walks, medication, or check-ins throughout the day, I’ll always be transparent about my availability and ensure they receive the care, attention, and routine they need to feel happy and secure. My home provides a safe, clean, calm, and loving environment for your pet while they’re in my care. I live in a house with a fully enclosed and secure garden, giving dogs a safe outdoor space to enjoy. I will be the sole caregiver for your pet, allowing me to provide consistent attention, supervision, and routine throughout their stay. I’m experienced and comfortable caring for dogs with additional needs, including administering medication and following specific dietary requirements or schedules. Having a senior dog myself, I understand how important patience, gentle handling, and maintaining familiar routines can be. My Chihuahua, Milo, is very friendly and still enjoys his daily walks — whether that’s a shorter 20-minute stroll around the block or longer 50–60 minute walks around the Central Park loop, depending on your dog’s energy levels and needs. Your dog’s comfort and safety will always come first, which is why I strongly recommend a meet & greet before any initial booking. This helps ensure everyone gets along well and gives you complete confidence that your pet will feel happy, secure, and relaxed during their stay.

About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs for a while, when family members have been away for long periods, walked dogs, looked after them. Also have a reactive dog myself so am good with dogs who need more space. I only work part time 3 days a week, so am available during the week and weekends to cover all care needs of cats/dogs. I am very flexible. I would follow any routine you currently have with your pets, crate them, let them sleep wherever, feed them at the required times, walk them when needed.

About: I have just graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Bristol and will be starting my first job as a small animal vet (dogs and cats) in August. I have a Cocker spaniel, Milo, who is 6 years old. For 4 years prior to getting Milo, I walked my neighbour’s Golden retriever daily and our friend’s rescue dog comes for weekends sometimes. As a vet, I am trained in injecting and giving medication to dogs, if this is required, as well as first aid and triage. I qualified as a vet from the University of Bristol in July and have just started my first job as a Veterinary Surgeon. I can do drop-in sessions, house sitting or walk dogs anytime from 8am-8pm on weekends or 8am-8pm on Wednesdays. I have a car and a pet seat belt so can transport your dog(s) to their favourite walking spots if transport is required. I will adhere to whatever routine your pet is used to when dog sitting: including walks, meal times, house rules, etc. I have a large fenced garden on a 1/3 acre plot. My cocker spaniel is very friendly and gets on well with other dogs. I can accommodate dogs in a crate or bed, depending on their specific needs. If any medication is required, I can give them that.

Millie was incredible, Teddy and Nala were cared for brilliantly, Millie sent us daily updates with photos. Nala hurt her leg and Millie straightaway contacted us and updated us when she needed to visit the vets. It was so reassuring the way Millie handled the situation, knowing Nala was being cared for. We will definitely be booking Millie again when we go away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Plymouth

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Plymouth on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 313 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Plymouth. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Plymouth walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plymouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
