“Another amazing sit from Sara, looking after our dog and cat. Sara took great care of both, including some lovely walks with Grace. She also managed an issue with the house flawlessly. THANK YOU!”

“Best sitter ever! Lindsey takes such great care of my dogs (one of whom is epileptic and requires lots of extra attention) as well as my home. I highly recommend her services, you’d be lucky to have her help!”

About: I’ve always been pet sitting my family members/friends pets since I was little and have always loved it! Now that i’m at university, I don’t see their pets that often anymore and since im far away from home and love animals i decided i’d like to start pet sitting around where I live! Since it’s summer time, I have lots of time to hang out with your pet/check up on them, I’m available anyday after 10am I have no pets at home yet, my house is pet safe, big and comfortable for any type of pet. I’m happy with small and big pets.
“What a lovely caring man David is, he kept in touch with me throughout my absence regarding my 2 dogs, they were walked and fed, the house was clean and tidy on my return and jac and Harvey were 2 happy content dogs. Will definitely be using him again. Thank you David.”

About: Hello, I'm Ella, I'm a passionate animal lover, particularly dogs and a long-time animal welfare and mental health advocate, as well as a former Make-A-Wish Ambassador. I hold a level 2 Professional Catering certificate with distinction grade and raised over £4k in two years for various charities. Animals are the absolute center of my universe and my care experience is anchored by over 20 years of continuous hands-on companionship with beloved pets who have always been seen as members of the family. I grew up with dogs and have had dogs all but about three years of my life (during those three years I had two kittens with my ex). The two dogs my parents had I took care of when I was younger; I walked and played with them every day. In 2013 I got my precious Midori, a Labrador Collie cross rescue. I raised and trained her from younger than 8 weeks as she was rescued from a puppy farm, so I have experience with handling and administering medication too, as a puppy and in later life. In 2023 I got another dog, this time a Border Collie Malamute cross called Pepper. Sadly Midori is no longer with me, but my dogs are my everything and come first and foremost in any decision I make in life. I have regular clients whose dogs I walk and treat their homes with total discretion when picking up and dropping off. I am also happy to look after any pet, not just dogs and cats! Birds, reptiles, fish, rodents - just get in touch! I'm based in Manadon and walk or bus everywhere but please still get in touch! Whilst I do have my own dog, I'm still available every day. I'm very flexible and can do evenings too. I will usually walk my own dog separately unless agreed otherwise. All information you give me will be followed exactly. I pride myself on trust, honesty, privacy and respect as a shy, introverted and socially anxious individual, who is also empathetic and open minded, meaning that when walking dogs I will only walk one at a time (unless from same household) to ensure they have my full attention and for safety, at least whilst I start out. I will respect your home and your pets especially and fully immerse myself in ensuring your pet's wellbeing over all else.
“We would highly recommend Emily. She gave Foggy her undivided care and attention. Foggy is a lively high maintenance sprocker and Emily took her in her stride. She is a lovely person who clearly loves animals and we are very grateful to her for looking after Foggy so well.”

“Jasmine was great with my dog Bacchus, he was very happy and immediately felt comfortable. I received plenty of updates and photos which is great! I will definitely be rebooking in future, thank you very much!”

“Emma was fantastic with our labradoodle Teddy who is nervous when meeting new people. Emma is very polite and she looked after our house very well also. I am very happy to recommend her as a competent and animal loving pet sitter.”

About: I’ve looked after dogs since I was a young girl. I always loved to look after my Nan’s Golden Retriever when we stayed there. I enjoyed taking her for walks, grooming her, feeding her, and so on. I’ve had a dog myself in the past and enjoy their company. I love to go out walking and love to be have their company. I’m an honest, friendly and reliable person that would not let you or your pet down. I’m happy to complete drop ins and look after your pet within my own home. I only work two days a week from home in the spare room. I have three breaks when I do work I drive, I live in a detached house with a large enclosed garden.. I would care for pets in my home or someone else’s home by showing them lots of love and attention. Make sure they’re fed and watered, walked & groomed. And, ensure they feel safe.
About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs for a while, when family members have been away for long periods, walked dogs, looked after them. Also have a reactive dog myself so am good with dogs who need more space. I only work part time 3 days a week, so am available during the week and weekends to cover all care needs of cats/dogs. I am very flexible. I would follow any routine you currently have with your pets, crate them, let them sleep wherever, feed them at the required times, walk them when needed.

“Emma took fantastic care of Steve while we were away. She kept us updated, left the house spotless, and was a pleasure to deal with throughout. I highly recommend her and will definitely book her again next time we need a pet sitter.”

I have such a love for all kinds of animals and truly appreciate the trust it takes to place your own into someone else’s care. I have a reputation in my family for treating animals like people because I think that’s the love they deserve! 🐾 I currently work full-time near Derriford during the week, with working hours of 8am–4pm. I’m available for walks and drop-ins before or after work, as well as overnight stays when needed. At weekends, my availability is much more open, and I can offer walks, drop-ins and overnight care during the day and evenings. 🐾 I have experience caring for a variety of animals with different personalities and obedience levels. I understand that every animal is different and that some may need a little extra time, patience and understanding. Their safety and wellbeing will always be my top priority, and I will never knowingly put an animal in harm’s way.

About: I am a professional lady who works for the NHS and am a huge dog lover of all types and sizes. I have looked after dogs for over 20 years now. They have full run of the house and are welcome on all furniture. My flexible working hours allow me to mostly work at home - ensuring dogs get the attention, love and lots of walks. My work is very flexible and I mostly work from home. Pets come first in this household-making sure they are cared for, loved and most importantly have lots of lovely dog walks. Our firm favourite is Plymbridge Woods. I have a safe and secure small garden, a dog flap if needed. They have the full run of my house and I only ever have one dog boarding to ensure your pooch gets the love and attention they need.

About: I’ve had pets since I was born. I was raised with 5 dogs at home, from puppies to elderly I enjoyed training, feeding and playing with them. As a teenager I’d help my friends by going to their houses to take care of their dogs and cats and take them for walks. I’m a volunteer in a woodland forest rescuing animals and creating new habitats for them, which improves my understanding of their behaviours and needs. I don’t do boarding for pets from different households at the same time so they can feel more comfortable while away from home. If your pet has any allergies, special needs, medications or a specific routine please let me know during the booking. I’m currently back home during summer break from university so if there isn’t any plans I’m free the whole week 24/7. I got a flexible schedule to be able to adjust for shifts needed I’ve got a house with a closed and fenced garden with play and have a good time. I don’t have any pets at home but I’m free the whole time to stay with your pet.
“Thank you so much Sophie & Nick. My dog is very anxious and has separation anxiety. Sophie & Nick took the time to get to know him and gently introduce him. It's clear to me how much they care about dogs, as my boy was very well looked after. Sophie sent lots of photos snd regularly updated me on how he was managing. Highly recommended and will certainly book their services again.”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Plymouth
Emma was really great. Came and did a meet and greet with my anxious (and sometimes hostile) cat, and she was more settled than she generally is with new people. She was punctual and communicative for both the visit and the stay, and the cat seemed happy and well cared for, and the house looked just how id left it.

It’s always difficult to trust your beloved dogs, puppies and canine family to people who are new to your pack. But Patrick has been amazing. He made the trip to meet my two dogs who are very different in their needs and personalities. Every day we have been away I have had an update on what they have been upto, photos and amazing communication. As a pet owner it was great to receive the updates but also good to see how Patrick had settled into our home and community. I can’t recommend him enough, really pleased we chose each other and for the service I received. We will be using him again. Thank you Patrick

Millie was incredible, Teddy and Nala were cared for brilliantly, Millie sent us daily updates with photos. Nala hurt her leg and Millie straightaway contacted us and updated us when she needed to visit the vets. It was so reassuring the way Millie handled the situation, knowing Nala was being cared for. We will definitely be booking Millie again when we go away.

Would totally recommend Skye. She agreed to house sit for our small rescue girl at fairly short notice. Tilly clearly took to her straight away and when we returned she was very happy and settled. Skye's communication was excellent, sending us regular photos and updates throughout the two night stay. We will have no hesitation in booking her again if she is available

Hi Sam, thank you so much for looking after Maui yesterday! We just moved to new place so my golden is still very unsure of new places, but Maui loved Sam from the very first initial meeting! Sam sent me pictures throughout the day and Maui looked very happy and spoilt with cuddles! 100% recommend Sam and we will be reaching out soon!

Cannot praise Amber enough! She has been brilliant with our 11 month old collie pup, he loved spending time with her. Amber provided lots of updates, and even gave us helpful tips. She's been so amazingly brilliant with Rollo, and he was genuinely sad to see her leave, say at the door waiting for her to come back.

Laura was brilliant with our anxious dog, who we had never left with a sitter before. I felt completely confident that she was in good hands. Laura was happy to do two short visits beforehand so that our dog was comfortable and familiar with her. Laura communicated really well and sent updates and photos. Highly recommend, especially if you have a dog with special requirements!

Joe, did a great job looking after Rusty for us. He kept in touch via a WhatsApp link and it was obvious that Rusty felt very relaxed and happy in his company. Joe sorted out some good walks and flexed Rusty’s normal schedule so they were walking in the cool of the evening rather than the midday heat. Joe was also kind enough to keep plants watered whilst we were away. We’d happily ask Joe to sit for us again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Plymouth walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plymouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
