“This was Barney's first experience of being left with amother dog in the house. Cherie and Ozzie were so welcoming lots of lovely reassuring photos and Barney had such a lovely time playing with the big basket of toys, that he didn't want to come home”

About: Hi, my name is Vic and I live with my partner and our two children. First things first, we just LOVE dogs 😍 all shapes and sizes and so does our little girl! I'm a midwifery lecturer, my partner is a tennis coach. I work from home a lot and and we are often home/around on the weekends. We live in our own home and have a lovely secure/fairly large garden for your pooch to sniff around in. Both myself and my partner have always had dogs in our families and are experienced in caring for various breeds. I have over 10 years experience in dog sitting for family and friends. My partners family are a farming family and have always had larger dogs, mainly border collies, and more recently a re-homed Saluki crossbreed from Dubai. I've grown up with various smaller cross breed dogs. We live within a short walking distance from a secure dog walking park for walks too. We recently said goodbye to our beloved 12 year old pug, he had numerous health problems so I am also experienced in looking after dogs who have poor health. I used a dog sitter for him when he was in his younger years and loved knowing he had a home from home, with his bed in front of the log burner 🥰 (which we also have!) I have wanted to offer our services as pet sitters for a number of years, however it didn't feel fair on our dog. He's left a dog shaped hole in our lives and our hearts and whilst we aren’t ready to have another dog just yet, we have so much doggy love to give ♥️. I would love to be able to offer a home from home to your beloved furry friend whilst you have a break or go away on your holidays. I am happy to look after any friendly pooches, as long as they're ok around baby’s (1 year old). Have a look through my pics and you'll see all the dogs I’ve have had the pleasure of looking after across the years and also our garden and lounge. I am happy to have a couple of dogs from the same home at a time. Please feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions, I understand that trusting someone to look after your dog is a nerve wracking. Because we have 2 children we always do a meet and greet prior to accepting a booking, therefore I can’t accept last minute/same day bookings. I'm a midwifery lecturer so when I’m not teaching face to face I mainly work from home and I don’t work weekends. I have time in my working day and at weekends to do lots of walks however long or short your dog needs. We have a log burner in our lounge so your pooch can laze in front of the fire on cold days. We have a secure garden with plenty of space for toilet breaks. We are happy for dogs on the sofa on a blanket so rest assured they’ll get lots of cuddles with us. I can tailor the stay to your dogs needs, I will try my best to create a home from home for your fur baby and rest assured they’ll be in-undated with love and TLC. I’ve included a couple of pictures to show my lounge and garden so you can see the environment they’ll stay in ☺️
“Another fantastic day stay for Ruby. Talita and Neil, as always took exceptional care with her and she had such a fun time with Mala running about and napping together We are looking forward to the next visit”

About: We have owned dogs for over 30 years and have just lost our beloved Collie in June and look forward to welcoming dogs into our home again. As I'm retired, I have plenty of time on my hands and am happy to walk dogs, house sit or welcome them into our home. We have a small fenced garden, mainly made up of lawn and terrace. It's totally secure and safe for pets and we have no other pets of our own.
About: Hello! My name is Emily and I am 21. I have grown up with a terrier-spaniel cross breed since I was 7 and I have knowledge in puppy care and high senior care because of this! Comforting my dog in her last days of life has been an honour, and I wish to comfort any age of animal for however long I can because I know how deeply important it is for that pet to feel positivity, fun and love. I have a full clean UK driving license and a provisional moped license. Currently volunteering at the Cats Protection League in Exeter. Furthermore; I have fostered with Feline Network (July24-January25). My puppy care consists of keeping them busy, playing, walking, letting them rest, feeding them and to keep them safely socialised. I am also comfortable with cleaning up messes! My senior care for dogs consist of handling the animal comfortably, playing when they aren't too tired to, feeding them, helping with medication feeding and giving them some patient walks or garden time. I also have general other pet care considering hamsters, guinie pigs, rabbits, chickens, fish and others. I have many days and nights free to pet sit and socialise. I am currently working close to full time with split shifts but with your dates and timings I could alternatively easily help out:) I am able to crate your dog if need be. Give them consistent walks, toilet breaks and play time whilst dog sitting. I would easily keep a close eye on pets to always check in on them especially if they have any health issues, but also in social interactions to keep them and others safe. I would also keep all dogs on a lead for walks unless told or agreed with otherwise.
About: Dogs have been a part of my life for decades now, particularly JRTs! We have two: Monty (5) and Meadow (4) who can be loud, but are super friendly and gentle. I work from home so long walks at some of Devon’s best spots daily! :) Our days start early with our first walk around 6 am! Our longest walk/trip usually takes place around midday (2 hours +). Our third and final walk is a shorter one in the evening around 7 pm. I work from home so spend a lot of time with our dogs every day! We live in a quiet dog friendly village with lots of different walks available in the area. We have a small garden which is fenced off and secure so our dogs always have the option to spend time outside when they want to. The house is very spacious and our pets as well as guests are allowed everywhere including on the sofa!

About: We are a family of 5, myself my partner 2 boys age 6&3 and our crazy cockapoo Lenny age 7. Our dog has epilepsy and eats everything in sight including the kids toys. He is very active, loves lots of playing and long walks. We always struggle to find a sitter when we go holiday so would like to offer our services for people like us. Lenny and the kids love other dogs. We are available to dog sit mainly in school holidays and weekends when we can give your special dog 100% attention so you can go on holiday and know your dog is in safe hands, our daily routine can be flexible to fit around your dogs needs We have a fenced garden, Lenny the friendly cockapoo who loves playing with other dogs and 2 kids age 3 & 6. We live within meters of a beautiful country park. Enjoy long walks and cuddles on the sofa. Our dog has epilepsy so we are experienced in giving medication.

“Maisie is absolutely amazing and our Ella had just the best time with her and her 18 month old cocker. Can’t thank Maisie enough and for all the photo and video updates. Would totally recommend, Ella couldn’t have had any more fun.”

“Caspar came home to us his usual happy self after his first day care with Sarah. He was evidently loved and appreciated whilst away from us and all instructions were followed. We shall be happy to ask Sarah to look after him another time.”

About: Martyn and I miss having dogs in our lives and their positive impact on our daily activities. Our own family dogs (now no longer with us) were companions on our many day trips and lengthy camper van holidays in the UK and abroad. We raised and trained them from puppies to their senior years, meeting their changing needs as the years rolled by. We both retired early and will be able to meet your pets needs in terms of activity and human companionship. Your dog will be walked twice a day, or as per your instructions and will have the run of our bungalow and fenced garden. We would expect to take your dog out on errands and day trips if that is what your dog would like and we live close to the beach and countryside for walks. Our home has no other pets or any children living with us Your dog will be part of our family during their stay with us. The bungalow is warm in the winter, with many shady spots in the summer, and the garden fence is high and secure. Your dog will have a permanent designated space for water, food and bed and will be fed on time, according to your instructions. We are very digitally competent and will send you regular photos and written messages. If we are caring for your dog in your home, we will be careful with security and will update you on how they are doing without you. In all cases, we will alert any dog owner to any welfare concerns. We prefer to walk dogs on leads until we are certain your dog has attached to us and will safely return and while we don’t want dogs on our furniture and beds, they get all the cuddles they need when we sit and play with them on the floor. We are happy to discuss any of your concerns.
“We left our lurcher with Danielle whilst we went to a rugby match. Despite the pouring rain she took her out for a walk (thank you)! She had 1 other dog there and they did not get along when they met so she kept them separate, which seemed to work well.”

“Alberto was absolutely brilliant with Gizmo and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better first daycare experience. Gizmo had a full day of lovely walks, socialising with another dog and lots of stimulation, and it was clear from the photos/videos that he was having an amazing time and was really comfortable and happy. Communication was great, and Alberto was really calm, kind, reassuring and knowledgeable. Gizmo came home happy, relaxed and completely exhausted 😂 Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Devon
Cherie was delightful and our labrador Reggie clearly took to her very quickly. Our plans for the day changed which resulted in Reggie only being with Cherie for a few hours, which included a good walk in the local woods. We will definitely book her again for Doggy Day Care. Thank you Cherie.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
