“We were really nervous leaving our Cockapoo Puppy, Enzo overnight with a stranger. Enzo suffers from separation anxiety and we had never previously left him for more than a few hours. We visited Maria before confirming the booking for an overnight stay. We found her and her partner to be a lovely couple with a genuine fondness for dogs. We were still apprehensive when we dropped Enzo off for his stay and a little concerned that Maria also had another dog staying. However Enzo soon settled down and was very relaxed when we picked him up the next morning. Maria sent regular updates with video clips and text msgs to show how well Enzo was getting on throughout his stay. We would not hesitate to use Maria again or recommend her to anyone.”

“It was a perfect 1st stay away from home. Millie was made very welcome and Aga helped her to settle and maintained her routine. Aga couldn't have been more accommodating or caring and her updates with regular photos showing Millie happy and enjoying herself were very reassuring. A great dog minder that I will use again and would be happy to recommend.”

“Rachael lives and breathes dogs. It was our first time leaving Franky with someone else but she was so friendly and understanding and put us at ease. Franky stayed with her for 4 nights and had the time of his life. It was like his own little holiday! He also learnt quite a lot about interacting with other dogs during his time there.”

“We were very nervous as this was our first time using outside help but on our first meet and greet, we knew straight away that Nala was going to fit right in with Angela and her family, Nala seemed right at home.playing with the children in the garden. Angela reassured us and updated us with photos and she went above and beyond to cater for Nala’s every needs. We have rebooked Angela again”

“Wonderful boarder for our dog 🥰 so grateful for all the care. Dog walks, playtime, cuddles in abundance. Stuck to the dogs home comforts to help her settle in . Loads of pictures to update us on her adventures. We were so grateful. 5 Star boarder. Would hesitate to recommend and use again.”

“This was the first time leaving our pup with anyone, and we couldn't have asked for better. She was taken care of to such a high level that we were worried she wouldn't want to come home. We think she had a lot of fun, and definitely got treated like one of the family. Highly recommend Ashley to anyone looking to find a sitter for their four legged best friend.”

“Outstanding & highly recommended. Ewa and her partner were amazing with my anxious Labrador Lola. Lola experiences separation anxiety but they were so calm and kind which helped her to settle. They taught her new tricks, took her for plenty of walks (including a swim in the river which she loved) and kept her entertained with ball games. Lola can find it difficult to settle at night when she’s away, but she felt so comfortable with Ewa that there were no problems. I will definitely leave Lola with Ewa and her partner again.”

“Katiuzca is just fabulous and will make your dog feel instantly at home. She is kind and caring and your dog becomes part of the family. Poppy loves going and enjoys her walks and new adventures. It is lovely to have photos and feedback throughout the stay. Highly recommended”

“Laura and Matt were amazing! So friendly and Jade clearly loved them and felt right at home at their place :) They were really flexible and understanding, I’d definitely be very happy to have them sit Jade again. Thank you!!”

“Another lovely stay for Marnie with Sophie and James, it is great to know that she is in such safe hands when we are away. She has been a timid dog since we rehomed her but she is gradually getting more confident and Sophie has helped with this process. 😊”

“Jasmine made Bruce feel very much at home, taking utmost care to help him settle in. He was treated like one of the family and we could see from the photos that he was having a great time. Thank you so much …!”

“Such a lovely family! They welcomed Buddy into their home and looked after him during the hottest week of the year. He was kept as cool as possible with fans and reduced walking. He reclined on the stairs(a favourite position!) and was thoroughly spoiled. I just know he’d have stayed with them longer given the choice!”

“Sophie has done a wonderful job looking after my pooch. She was more relaxed than me haven just gone away. Thank you Sophie for caring after Rae. I would definitely recommend you to friends not too many tho don't want you over booked. 🤣”

“Cannot thank Ruth enough, the care she gives and the wonderful walks she takes my dog on, always highly recommend her, she goes above and beyond. Thank you Ruth from me and little Lulu. x 🐕”

“Paco spent two nights with lovely Sonya, and I couldn’t be happier with the care he received. Sonya and her partner were absolutely amazing with my little one. Every picture and video they sent showed him enjoying himself to the fullest, which completely put my mind at ease. They’re incredibly mindful of each dog’s energy and needs. They treated my boy with so much patience and affection, even though he’s full of beans and can sometimes come across a bit “funny” to people who don’t know him well. They understood him perfectly. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring sitters. I truly hope Paco can stay with them again in the future.”

“Nina had an amazing time with Mauri running and playing with his own dog in the sun. From the pictures and videos he sent she looked so happy :) we would definitely recommend using Mauri again if we were to go away.”

“We contacted Gouda and Vlad with 2 weeks notice and she was more than willing to care for our River, even gave her a really really good brush XD. We got updated at least 4 - 5 times a day about river with pictures and when we picked her up they gave me a full run down of what they did and how much shes eaten. I would really recommend Gouda and Vlad to any one, especially people leaving their dogs for the first time.”

“Milo had a great time with Ruben and Oggy. Lots of updates, videos and photos which helped us to have a relaxed holiday. Milo seemed to be very happy with his stay with Ruben. Would highly recommend ☺️”

This was our labrador, Riku’s second stay with Angela and we couldn’t be happier. Riku was excited to be there again, and he was extremely well looked after by all the family. We had regular updates with lovely photos which is much appreciated. Big thank you to you all!

Guoda and Vlad gave us a very positive and trustworthy feeling from the moment we met them. We know that Chilli can be a handful, as he's very young and bouncy. However Guoda was very professional, caring and knew how to deal with him. She and Vlad gave us regular updates, great in communication and we felt that Chilli was in good caring hands. We would definitely use them again, as it seemed that Chilli had a great time!

Benji was very happy staying with Sarah and Simon over a period of a few weeks. They are clearly people who care about dogs, and the information and updates they shared while benji was with them was excellent. We wouldn's hesitate in recommending Sarah and Simon to ther dog owners, and would welcome the chance to Benji to have another vacation with them in the future. Many thanks to Sarah, Simin and the whole family!

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
