“Diamond took a couple of days to settle, but after this seemed to have a great time. Chriszl sent photos, videos and updates every day. This was really helpful. We went back for day care a few days after the boarding and he was visibly excited to go back. Would use again.”

“This was our first time leaving our dog Ava with Audrey for a weeks holiday. Audrey has great communication prior to the drop off and it was an easy and comfortable handover. Ava took to Audrey straight away and I felt comfortable and confident leaving her. We had communication throughout the holiday so we were confident Ava was doing well and she was clearly extremely well cared for. This allowed us to relax and enjoy our break knowing Ava was ok. Thank you Audrey for taking such good care of Ava. We highly recommend your care.”

“Michelle and her partner looked after our Golden Retriever for 4 nights and did an excellent job. Louise and Nigel are fantastic with Luna and highly knowledgable in all apects of pet care. She loves going to stay, and is well looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and cannot speak highly enough of the services provided and of the friendliness and ease of communiation.

I honestly cannot recommend Kenneth highly enough. Khaya stayed with him for over a month while we were travelling, the longest I have ever been away from her, so choosing someone I could completely trust with her was incredibly important to me. Kenneth was wonderful from beginning to end. He kept me reassured while we were away, treated Khaya with genuine affection and made her completely part of the family. His dad and the rest of the family clearly adored her too, which meant so much to us. And Khaya wasn’t simply looked after, she was thoroughly spoilt! 🥰 She had trips to the beach, days out, walks and adventures, puppuccinos and lots of attention and cuddles. Kenneth even made her fourth birthday special, by dressing her up and celebrating with her while we were away. Seeing those photos when I was missing her so much was incredibly heartwarming. It genuinely felt as though Khaya was having her own holiday while we were having ours. She clearly became quite a character in their household too, including apparently making sure Kenneth knew exactly when she expected to be fed! 😂 When we picked her up, his family told us how much they enjoyed having her and that they were going to miss her. This sums up everything about the wonderful home she had been welcomed into. What really says it all is the dog I collected at the end of her stay. Khaya came home happy, relaxed, affectionate and clearly very well cared for. There was no sense that she had simply been “boarded”. She had been welcomed into a loving family and treated as one of their own. Being away from such a much-loved member of our family for that length of time was difficult, but knowing Khaya was safe, happy, loved and apparently living her best life 😂 allowed me to enjoy our travels without worrying about her. Kenneth is kind, reliable, communicative and clearly genuinely loves dogs. I would trust him with Khaya again without hesitation, and I know she would be delighted to see Kenneth and his family again too. Thank you, Kenneth, for taking such wonderful care of our girl and for making her stay so special. You gave us something priceless while we were away: complete peace of mind. ❤️🐾

This was the first time we have needed a pet sitter since adopting our rescue dog 5 years ago and were a bit concerned as to how he would cope. Kia was very reassuring, providing videos and pictures of our dog. When we collected him he was a happy boy and no worries. Many thanks to Kia and Aden for taking such good care of him!

This was our first time leaving our dog Ava with Audrey for a weeks holiday. We highly recommend your care.

Sam was absolutely wonderful! She looked after our dog for a long weekend and we couldn't have asked for more. She sent daily updates and photos which put our minds completely at ease. Our dog is quite anxious with new people but settled in so well with Sam— we came home to a happy, relaxed pup. Reliable, caring and a true dog lover. Highly recommend!

Tyla was a perfect sitter for our puppy skylar, we were a bit anxious about going away and leaving her for the first time but Tyla provided us so many updates and told us exactly how she was getting on. Skylar has come back a very happy dog and from the videos and pictures she looked like she has had the best time!! Tyla and her Dad are lovely and we will 100% be rebooking with them. Thank you so much ☺️

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
