“I cannot thank Emily enough for taking on my 11 month old puppy at extremely short notice and looking after her for four weeks while I recovered from surgery. The twice daily updates of photos and videos reassured me that she was having the best time ever with at least two walks a day, plenty of mental stimulation, and lots of rest time and cuddles. She also got on very well with Emily’s spaniel, Willow, who was very welcoming, happy to share her toys, and is a very chilled dog. Emily and Alex, thank you so much for your kindness and care, and Millie will be looking forward to seeing you all again for any future holidays.”

About: We are a couple in our late-20s living in Surrey who love animals, especially dogs. We’d love to have a dog of our own one day, but in the meantime, we enjoy spending time caring for other people’s pets. Your dog would be looked after by both myself and Josh. Josh grew up in a household with dogs, so he has plenty of experience looking after them and understands their needs. We also regularly care for our friends’ and family’s dogs whenever we can. We look forward to welcoming your dog into our home and treating them like part of the family. Josh is at home during the day, and I work from home twice a week and both home every evening, so your dog will receive plenty of attention, companionship, and care while they’re with us. We have a fully fenced, secure garden where dogs can safely play, as well as a huge field directly opposite our home that’s perfect for walks, exercise, and playtime. We know how important it is to feel reassured while you’re away, so we’ll provide regular photo and video updates to keep you informed and let you see how much fun your dog is having.
“Margie was absolutely fantastic, it is clear she loves animals very much and made Youp feel comfortable and right at home in her lovely spacious home. She kept us updated throughout Youp's stay and he looked very content in the pictures she sent. We will definitely be asking Margie to look after Youp again in the future.”

“David looked after my golden retriever Jasper for a week and I am so glad I picked him! We met beforehand and he was friendly and professional and then throughout the week he kept in regular contact and Jasper was extremely well looked after! I would recommend to anyone, thank you David x”

“Jo and his partner really put us at ease for our dogs first stay with sitters. Our dog has quite a few quirks as a rescue dog but Jo was really understanding and caring of Ember. We especially appreciated the early walks before it got too hot and regular photo updates to reassure us. Ember was clearly very calm and comfortable while we were away and it was clear when we got home that she had a lovely time. Thankyou Jo!”

“Anneliese was excellent and Gumbo seems to have had a great time. Their house and garden were gorgeous and Anneliese sweetly kept me updated with information through our holiday. We were really happy and grateful”

“Stella was super responsive in the booking process and kept us up to date throughout Pippa and Cookie’s stay. As soon as we dropped them off, we knew they would be well looked after and would feel at home in her care. It sounds like Cookie and Peanut had great fun playing together! Stella’s Mum was also super helpful at pick up. Thank you both very much. We’ll definitely rebook!”

“Our dog was SO well loved and cared for with Hima. She sent lots of pics and updates throughout the stay and we had no doubt that our pug was having a great time without us! 😂”

“We had such a lovely experience! Rita is absolutely lovely, very friendly and kind, and was incredibly responsive throughout our dog’s stay. We received regular updates and photos every day, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. She took really good care of our doggy and was very attentive to him. She even noticed when his paw was hurting and kindly administered the cream we had provided. It was clear that she genuinely cared about him and was paying attention to his needs. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for someone caring, reliable and attentive to look after their dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!”

“We cannot praise Natasha and her family enough. Natasha has been amazing in making sure Suki was comfortable with her and met her a couple of times before we left Suki with her. We felt very confident when we dropped Suki off especially it being the first time we would be away from her. During the stay Natasha took photos and gave daily updates. It was obvious what a blast Suki was having. We are very lucky to have found Natasha; she will definitely be the first person we would consider for the next time we need to board Suki.”

“Pebbles only stayed with Laura and her family for a night and a day, but she was absolutely full of beans (no, not real beans) when collected her and quite clearly would have stayed longer if could. We are very happy clients and delighted to have such a professional service almost on our doorstep. [”

“Our cavachon Olive loved her first stay with Sara! Our usual dog sitter couldn’t help us so I was nervous to try someone new but Sara put me completely at ease and took such good care of Olive. I felt reassured Olive was in the best hands, and we loved the regular photo and video updates. Thank you Sara!”

“Another perfect stay for Flo with Irina. I know Flo is so well cared for and relaxed with Irina that I have no worries about leaving her which means I can enjoy my holiday. I would definitely recommend her to other people looking for a dog sitter.”

About: I have been a dog owner for 7 years and truly understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. I recently lost my own dog, so I really miss having that companionship and would love to give that same care, attention and love to other dogs, especially on weekends and during school holidays. I live in a calm, cool temperature, comfortable flat in St John’s with access to a large nearby field, perfect for walks and playtime. I am reliable, patient, and will treat every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, happy and well cared for while you’re away. I work full time during the week, so I’m mainly available for pet care on weekends (I can do Friday night house sitting after 5pm). This means I can give your dog my full attention, whether that’s for walks, playtime or overnight stays. I’m also available during school holidays and half terms, so I can offer more flexible care during those times. When I’m with your pet, they will have plenty of attention, exercise and company. Your dog will be cared for in a calm, safe and comfortable flat that’s kept at a cool, pleasant temperature. I live close to a large field, which is perfect for regular walks and giving dogs space to run and explore. Your baby will also have a place outside my flat where they can have regular toilet breaks, supervised by myself. Having owned and cared for my own dog for 7 years, I understand how important it is to treat every pet with patience, kindness and attention, just as I would my own.

“Reg really enjoyed his stay with Greg, in fact we think he is pining a little. Greg offered to meet Reg prior to his stay so we went for a walk so he could get to know him better. Greg ensured that Reg was safe and well looked after during his stay. We had frequent photos and updates from Greg and were pleased to see Reg enjoyed his first puppachino! We can thoroughly recommend Greg and would definitely book him again.”

“First time using Rover for our Irish Terrier and Diane put my nerves to rest. Very responsible, warm and clearly a dog lover! When I collected my dog he looked relaxed and happy, he even went back to say goodbye! Would recommend Diane for all breeds, especially those with more personality like Irish Terriers.”

Alex and Priscilla, just all round great people to meet, honestly we couldn’t have asked for better care for our dog! They were absolutely amazing from start to finish and looked after him so well. They clearly know dogs very well and understand exactly how to care for them, making sure he was happy, comfortable and well looked after. They even went above and beyond by buying some extra bits for him when they noticed that his eye was weeping. It was such a thoughtful and caring gesture and really showed how attentive they were to his needs. We felt completely reassured knowing he was in such capable and caring hands. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, experienced and genuinely caring to look after their dog. Thank you so much for taking such great care of him! 🐾❤️

Nadine is a fabulous dogsitter. She was very careful to follow our care instructions. Our dachshund had back surgery a few months ago. Nadine made sure he was carried properly so he didn't injure his back. She has a sweet mini dachshund who played nicely with my dog and welcomed him to their home. Her two little girls were also kind and my dog enjoyed running around and playing in their garden. I highly recommend Nadine.

Jess had a great time with Sonja, her partner Magnus and her own fox red - Hunter - with whom Jess seemed to get on extremely well - she was very reluctant to leave at the end of her week’s stay! Sonya and Magnus clearly love dogs and we were confident Jess would be well cared for. Hunter is also a lovely dog and they seemed to play together really well. We had regular photos and videos sent to us, and Sonja was very responsive whenever I messaged her. We will definitely be using Sonja again!
Abby was fantastic with our dog Oscar, who had a two week stay. We received regular updates with pictures, reassuring us that Oscar was comfortable and happy with Abby and her family. Abby was great with communication and so flexible with our unexpected flight change, which meant an additional nights stay for Oscar. He was so well cared for and came home calm and relaxed. We would highly recommend Abby and would definitely book again!

Mat looked after my dog for six days and did a fantastic job. He was extremely well cared for, happy and relaxed, and it was clear he felt completely comfortable in Mat’s home. Mat kept us updated throughout, which gave us great peace of mind. We would highly recommend Mat and would definitely use him again.

Stella was super responsive in the booking process and kept us up to date throughout Pippa and Cookie’s stay. As soon as we dropped them off, we knew they would be well looked after and would feel at home in her care. It sounds like Cookie and Peanut had great fun playing together! Stella’s Mum was also super helpful at pick up. Thank you both very much. We’ll definitely rebook!

Ceri was great: really quick on communication, sent a message and photos to let us know Tiggy had settled in well and was all ready when we came to pick up. Tiggy seemed happy and relaxed when we came back for her - so I consider this a great success all round! I will definitely look to use Ceri again when we need to leave Tiggy with someone.

Our dog had a wonderful stay with Araceli and her family. She was treated as part of the family and had a very happy time there. She was taken out on some lovely walks. We had very good communication from the start, with Araceli meeting us before Daisy’s visit and throughout her stay, with regular photos, which were reassuring as it was the first time we had left our dog. We will definitely use her again and would recommend her to other dog owners. Thank you Araceli and your family.

Extremely happy, what a lovely person Charlotte is. Our cocker spaniel Spuddie has just spent two days with boarding overnight. He settled well and received great care during his stay, I felt confident leaving him and would do so again. I would highly recommend! Thank you Charlie & Ellie

Zoe was an excellent choice to look after our dog Bugsy, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her or rebook. Great communication before and during his stay, we were very confident he was being well looked after and could tell from pictures she sent Bugsy was relaxed and happy in her company and home!

Viv is absolutely wonderful! Both Darcey and Hardy are usually reluctant to be left in the care of someone else, but they really enjoyed their stay with her and she cared for them beautifully. I am so grateful to Viv for the attention and love she gave to them both, they clearly enjoyed their stay and felt happy and secure.

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
