“Abby came through for us when I was worried we wouldn't find the right care for our Darcy when we went to attend a wedding. All throughout communication was clear and prompt. We visited Abby's home before finalising the stay. She and her family are lovely and perfectly at ease with visiting dogs. Darcy was instantly at home too! During his stay, Abby sent us regular updates and photos/ videos. He's come home happy and gave Abby and Fudge a cuddle before leaving 😊 We'll definitely be booking Abby again x”

“Shirley and her husband are amazing. Rolo loves staying with them and they welcome him into their home as if he was their own. I can’t recommend Shirley enough. Ian C, Tadworth.”

“Emily was great with Redd. She kept me updated every day with pictures and I felt comfortable that she knew how to manage a big dog. Her dog Tony is adorable too. Definitely would recommend and Redd will be visiting again whenever we need her. Thank you Emily x”

“Roxy was absolutely amazing with our very energetic Retriever/German Shepherd cross! Had her for 5 nights. Fabulous communication. Met us twice before. Literally perfect. Super person. Can’t recommend enough.”

“This was such a last-minute request (literally 15 minutes!), but James still accommodated us so we could enjoy the nearby theme park. He was an absolute lifesaver that day! Really kind, approachable, and went above and beyond. 100% recommend – amazing service! Thank you for looking after our Loki ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

About: I have been a dog owner for over 16 years, unfortunately my dog past away few years ago and I work from.home so want to walk dogs so I can play with them again. I work from home as Web designer. Have plenty of time to play with your dogs. I used to walk my dog 3 times a day and 40 mins each time. Will do the same to yours unless they refuse thinks it is too much. I live in a flat and shared green area. There are huge park nearby and I go for walk daily and would love to bring dogs with me. I live by myself, owner. Wooden floor, clean and tidy. I am caring and live animals. They love me as well. I will treat each dog as my own. They will be well looked after.

“Roger has looked after my dog Finley twice now and I have been very happy. He sends me video's and he tracks his walks and sends them to me. It is good to know that Finley is getting a walk whilst he is being looked after. Thanks Roger.”

“Bertie clearly had the best time staying with Anna and her family. I got regular updates from Anna telling me how Bertie was getting on. I wouldn't hesitate to book Anna again. As soon as I met Anna I knew Bertie would be very happy and well looked after. Thanks Anna”

“Harry was incredible for our pup. Front the start, Harry was incredible communicative and detail oriented in his approach to finding out about our pup. With a weeks long stay looming and our first time leaving him with a stranger for this long, Harry eased our worries by offering two meets up prior. Hamish enjoyed walks often and Harry made sure to give us lots of updates and photos whilst we were away. It was clear Hamish was more than content with Harry. From the photos, you could tell he was incredibly relaxed and loved all the cuddles and attention he got. Would not hesitate booking Harry again. Just wished he stayed around the UK longer so we could use him as our go to sitter! 🤪”

About: Our family have always had pets and as a child dogs were a permanent fixture. As an adult we have had small animals, a loving cat and presently a cockapoo. I am willing to care for dogs and cats and particularly like dog walking. I am happy to have well behaved, fully trained, family friendly dogs in my own home. I am a retired nurse and teacher with some time on my hands. I'm available most weekends and at the end of the week. I may have grandchildren at the house so can only board dogs who are good with children. I am happy to play and walk your dog. I have a fenced garden and large house. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the furniture and beds. They will need their own food and toys. Our dog Mabel does not live with us all the time as she is my daughter's dog and mostly lives in Wales. She comes to us for holidays.

“We left our doggy Bailey with Loulia whilst we went to Chessington World of adventures. He was so well cared for and had the best time. We were updated regularly and we will definitely be coming back! Thank you 😊”

“Sophie is AMAZING! We are so glad to have found her. We have never used a dog sitter outside of relatives before so were apprehensive about the whole process. Sophie made us feel reassured about everything, our dog loves her and we feel like we have a dog sitter we can trust for life now!”

“Such a lovely and friendly family. Great communication and I can tell my pup had the best time there because he was very sleepy the next day!! Will definitely be back!”

“Rufus had a lovely stay with Katie. She was extremely confident with him and made us feel very relaxed about leaving him with her … especially as he can be quite demanding at times. She gave us lots up updates which were very reassuring too. We will definitely be using Katie again soon to sit Rufus.”

This was Arlo's first time boarding with Darren & Ross. Thank you for making her stay with you so perfect. Having other dogs around to play with was a real treat for Arlo. The daily photos & updates reassured us that Arlo was in good hands & was being cared for very well. Thank you so much Darren & Ross, great to meet you both & plan to use you in the future.

Georgina and her family took wonderful care of Sammy for 8 days while we were away. She regularly sent us updates and photos, which gave us real peace of mind, and it was clear from every update that Sammy was happy, relaxed, and having a great time. He enjoyed beautiful walks, loved spending time with the other dogs, and it was obvious he was treated like one of the family. When we collected him, we could tell he had been genuinely well cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave Sammy with Georgina again and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter.
Used John and his partner, for a days care for my two Labradors. The eldest is very reactive and needs a lot of care. John was great! Listened to what was needed and looked after them perfectly. That’s all you need. Someone to look out for your dogs. His communication was great. I will use him again when needed. Thank you guys!
Melissa and Troy were first class sitters. From the first moment we met Melissa during the “meet and greet” session there was clear chemistry between us and especially with Louis. He was extremely well cared for and felt totally at home during his stay. I would have no hesitation in booking with Melissa again . Top marks and thank you so much .

Paris took very good care of our anxious 9 month old puppy. It was a four day stay during a heatwave and she kept him safe and occupied with e.g. fetch in her dog pool. We got daily updates on how/what he was doing and he seemed very happy and content. I would absolutely recommend Paris.

Angela was very personable and it was clear from our meet and greet, that Louis would be comfortable with her and little Millie . Louis was well looked after. We received updates and pictures. He was happy and able to fit in seamlessly. Very happy to leave him again . Thank you Angela .

Sophie was amazing looking after our 7 months on Labrador for 2 nights. Rusti had such an amazing time with Sophie and we Absolutly loved seeing all the photos. We had absolute confidence in Rusti’s happiness and welfare and were able to enjoy our holiday knowing she was having such a great time. Rusti can’t wait to stay again and have some more walks with all the new friends she made!

Harry was absolutely incredible with our 7 month old Labrador who came for a weeks holiday while we were away. Harry kept us updated, ensured Rusti was cared for at all times and worked on some continued training with her which we are so grateful for. We were incredibly confident in Harry’s abilities which allowed us to really relax, switch off and enjoy our holiday knowing Rusti was in such good hands and having so much fun too! We can’t say thank you enough and Rusti cannot wait to come and stay with you again!

Our Border Collie Bess had a lovely time with Katarina and her family and their laid back dog Fred! Communication was excellent and Katarina was kind enough to send regular photo updates while we were away. The big plus is the lovely wooded area immediately behind their back garden so the dogs were able to be walked regularly and safely, away from main roads and traffic etc. Everything worked out very nicely indeed, thank you Katarina.

We have always had family look after our Welsh terrier, Chelsea. Circumstances change and we had the choice of kennels or newly found Rover. So pleased we went for the latter. Our search didn't take long and we met Susie, who dared to take on our Welshie (they are not an easy breed to master!). Cannot thank her enough. She kept us up to date whilst we were away with photos and summaries of her day. Chelsea was very well taken care of and, whilst we missed her, we knew she was in totally safe hands and looked after. Couldn't ask for anything more. Now Susie knows, almost, all of Chelsea's quirks, we really hope she will have her again when we go on our next adventure without her! Thank you Susie and to anyone who wants their dog to be looked after and loved, look no further.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
