Pet care experience

Loving family home for your precious doggy

I have had pets all my life since childhood - dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs. I have a Springer Spaniel called Jazz who is calm and well trained who loves other dogs, people and children - she is well behaved and very affectionate. Your precious dog will be welcomed into an air conditioned home (for hot weather comfort) with lots of attention, play and long walks in the woods and the downs nearby. My house is roomy with a secure, fenced garden with lots of space for sniffing around and play time. I am fully insured and have a Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Animal First Aid, an up to date enhanced DBS check and years of experience with animals of all ages/sizes and temperaments. Your special girl or boy will receive lots of TLC and will never be left alone in the house. My husband, Chris, also a massive animal lover, works from home and if I need to go out for a few hours, he will always be here to provide consistent care and attention.

Shirley is a very capable and very caring dog owner and care giver. Dilly was very happy to stay in her (pristine!) home. Shirley kept us up to date with messages and pictures and we collected a very chilled dog the next morning. Thoroughly recommend.

I can't praise Shirley enough, she is a fantastic dog sitter. She really takes the time to get to know your dog and understands what things will help them to feel at home and comfortable with her. I have a velcro dog and he always loves arriving at Shirley's and this time greeted me when I arrived to collect him and then ran back inside to play. A very very happy dog.

We’re so happy to have found Shirley, Chris and Jazz. It really does feel like a home away from home for our dog. He eagerly ran in for his stay, comes back happy and content. Great communication and he’s clearly well looked after. Thanks again ☺️

Schedule

I and my husband, Chris, are at home all week so your precious furry friend will never be left alone at any time so will always have human company as well as that of our calm Springer Spaniel, Jazz. We do not plan days or evenings out when dog minding. Walks are twice a day (more if needed) as we live by Epsom Downs and have woods at the end of our road. Our home is air conditioned and in hot weather walks will be early morning and early evening with toilet breaks and plays in our secure, back garden in between (as required). In hot weather, walks will be early morning/early evening in the woods at the bottom of our street. Our home is air conditioned so ideal for cooling off during the day.

Safety, trust & environment

Fully qualified in Pet First Aid (Advanced) 2025. Air conditioned home with a fully fenced, secure garden. Your dog's usual routine will be followed as closely as possible for consistency in care. There will be plenty of play times and two walks every day, in hot weather walks will be early morning and early evening with extra toilet breaks in garden as and when required. This routine is flexible depending on your dog's needs. Ideally your dog will have good recall as walks are in woods and on Epsom Downs.

Pets

A typical day

Two walks daily on Epsom Downs (unless owner restricts). Play time in the garden - games of tug, fetch and catch if your dog likes to play. Attention and cuddles - on the sofa if your dog is permitted on sofas. Your dog will be treated as our own for the day/boarding and will receive lots of TLC.

Shirley can host up to 3 pets per night
Ideally your dog will be well socialised with good recall (off lead) and sociable with other dogs. Confidence around children is essential as occasionally my grandchildren visit. My grandchildren have been brought up with dogs, cats and various small animals and they are well behaved and respectful to all pets.
