“First time using Rover for our Irish Terrier and Diane put my nerves to rest. Very responsible, warm and clearly a dog lover! When I collected my dog he looked relaxed and happy, he even went back to say goodbye! Would recommend Diane for all breeds, especially those with more personality like Irish Terriers.”

“Fiona looked after my little Jack russel for 9 days whilst I was away on holiday. My dog was very well looked after - she was well walked, she kept up with the multitude of medicines and eye drops my dog is prescribed and also sent me regular updates and photos! Would definitely use her again, she was very friendly and very enthusiastic about having Mia around.”

“My labrador Masha really enjoyed staying with Sally and her family for the day. It was her first time staying with Sally and she fitted me in at quite short notice on Boxing Day. Great communication from Sally, she replied promptly to my messages and sent me photos and updates as to how Masha was doing so I could see she was a happy dog.”

“Trish was such a fantastic dog sitter. Our dog Patsy is often reluctant to go with strangers but she immediately warmed to Trish. She was so patient with her and she loved her stay. Trish sent constant updates and was flexible around our needs. We will definitely use her again when we next go on holiday and I highly recommend her as we immediately felt reassured that our dog was in good hands. Thank you!”

“Hunter had a great time making a new friend and took full advantage of the safe outdoor space to play in! He was cared for perfectly and we were given plenty of updates to see just how much fun he was having without us! 😅 Hunter can't wait for his next holiday with Bruce and family!”

“Millie can be a little nervous in new environments, so we knew this stay might take her a bit of time to settle. It did come with a few challenges, but Ornela handled everything with great care, patience, and understanding. Communication was excellent throughout, and we really appreciated the regular updates and the effort made to keep Millie comfortable and supported. We’re very grateful for the care and attention given — thank you again for looking after her so well. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ornela to anyone — she’s a very caring and understanding person.”

“Anna was fantastic - so kind and our dog obviously had a wonderful stay. A lovely home and family environment. We were sent updates and photos whilst away which were great to receive. She was taken on nice walks and was very relaxed and at home when we went to collect her. Would highly recommend Anna and hope to book her again for next year - thank you!”

About: I’ve been friendly with dogs my whole life and frequently dropped in to look after my neighbours dogs. I currently have a lovely springer a home. I am available all day every day to spend plenty of time with your pup - all dogs are welcome! Size, breed and age don’t matter :) I have just finished my A-levels and am planning to do a gap year so I am available the entire week to play with and pay attention to your dog! Two walks a day is standard with the first usually in the late morning. A second walk also usually takes place between 4-6 depending on energy levels. I have a fenced garden roughly 20x30m, so plenty of space to play ball and searching games. I have a male (neutered) springer spaniel who is very friendly at home, he's currently 2.5yrs so I am very used to a moderately high energy dog.
“Karyna and Tom were absolutely amazing with Sirius! ☺️ From day one, they kept me updated with messages and photos, which made me feel completely at ease. It was clear he felt happy, safe and loved, he settled in so quickly and even became their little shadow! 🐶 I couldn’t recommend them more and will definitely be booking with them again. Thank you both so much! 💛”

“Nataliya clearly loves dogs! It was our first time leaving our puppy with her, and he got back to us so happy. She sends regular photos and videos, which is so lovely and reassuring. Would recommend to friends & family 100%!”

“Offered to help board at the last minute to give my wife and I the opportunity to spend the weekend away. Dogs were looked after really well in a clean and large home. Taken for walks, lots of adventures and lots of playtime”

“Kristina was great, looking after Cookie and Muffin at short notice. She was clearly experienced and someone who loves being with dogs and looking after them. Both seemed to really enjoy their stay and Kristina gave us lots of photos and updates on how they were getting on. Will definitely be rebooking with her in the future.”

About: Hi, we’re George and Lucy, proud dog parents to Herman, our friendly sausage dog and chief tail-wagger! As lifelong dog lovers, we know how important it is to find someone trustworthy, caring, and fun to look after your pup. Lucy is currently on maternity leave, which means we’re in the unique position of having extra time at home to provide plenty of company, walks, playtime, and cuddles. Whether your dog loves adventures or prefers a cosy nap on the sofa, we’ll make sure they feel right at home. Herman is always happy to welcome new four-legged friends too! 🐾 A typical day starts with a morning walk to stretch little legs and get tails wagging. Back at home, your dog will spend the day with Lucy and the baby, enjoying plenty of company, cuddles, and attention. There’s lots of time for games and playtime in the garden too. On weekends, we love hopping in the car to explore new walking spots and sniff out new adventures together! 🐾🚶♀️🌳 We have a fenced garden and another two-legged friend to keep yours company! Your dog will have plenty of opportunity for being inside and outside as much as they like, weather permitting! We are very flexible to have your dog sleep where they feel most comfortable, whether it’s close to everyone in our bedroom (but not the human bed!) or with some more space to themselves elsewhere in the house.
“We booked with Elizabeth for the second time and once again she took great care of our working cocker spaniel! He is normally quite anxious with unfamiliar surroundings but he settled right in and was happy and relaxed when we arrived to pick him up. Highly recommend!”

“Alexandra and her family took the best care of Freddie whilst we were away! We could tell he was having so much fun, and were updated daily with lots of pictures. I’m sure Freddie will already be looking forward to his next stay!”

“Cathy was a lifesaver for us last wk when she took simba on a days notice! She was flexible on timings and arrangements and provided updates and pictures throughout. Simba looked at home and enjoyed hanging out with Bailey. Will definitely be sending simba there again.”

“We were so worried to leave our working cocker spaniel with someone outside of our family for the first time, but Tatiana was just absolutely sensational. We felt so at ease knowing Kaia was with her and her lovely family. Tatiana’s children played with Kaia, her and her husband walked her. We had so many photo and video updates - all with her tail nearly falling off from wagging so much! We cannot thank her / her whole family enough. For anyone who is feeling anxious about leaving their dog somewhere, please, please get in touch with Tatiana. Serena and Tania xx”

Amelia was absolutely fantastic looking after our quirky dog, Coco, while we were away on a family holiday. From the moment we met her, it was clear that she genuinely loves dogs and took the time to understand Coco's unique personality, routines, and little quirks. Throughout our trip, Amelia kept us updated with messages and photos, giving us complete peace of mind that Coco was happy, well cared for, and getting plenty of attention and attection. It was obvious that Coco felt comfortable and relaxed in her care. We returned home to a very happy dog, and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter. Amelia is reliable, caring, and professional, and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone special to look after their beloved pet. Coco is looking forward to visiting again soon. ❤️

Thank you so much to Christina, Mark and Archie for the most amazing stay for Teddy. Saw loads of photos of him doing loads of swimming and early morning and evening walks in the hottest week of the year so far. Thank you for looking after him so well and it was lovely to meet you before hand for our little walk to chat about Teds and what he needs. He’ll definitely be back to see you. Thank you 🙏😍

Tom was an amazing sitter for Tobias. Very personable and a really great guy who cares a lot for looking after dogs. I cant recommend him enough! Took him on good walks and gave him a proper bath when he rolled in a muddy ditch. He was a very happy dog when we picked him up 😊

Susie and family always take incredible care of Edie, and make it feel like home for her. Susie is quick in all communications, and makes the whole process so easy. Edie absolutely adores the family and gets so much attention and love from them during her stay. The perfect balance of professional and loving, I’ll always go to Susie for when we’re away!

Alice has been absolutely wonderful looking after my dog Milo. She is incredibly communicative, always keeping me updated and she’s been so sweet and caring with him. Milo clearly felt comfortable and happy with her and it meant so much to know he was in such good hands. I would definitely recommend Alice to anyone looking for a reliable, kind and loving dog sitter.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
