“Abby and her family have been looking after Georgie for us, we have had regular updates photos and videos which has been amazing because we miss our little boy and we know he has been so well looked after and spoilt which is such peace of mind for us. We would definitely use Abby again so glad we used Rover and found such a lovely family to look after Georgie and hopefully they would have him again. Thank you so much we are so over the moon.”
“Roxy was absolutely amazing with our very energetic Retriever/German Shepherd cross! Had her for 5 nights. Fabulous communication. Met us twice before. Literally perfect. Super person. Can’t recommend enough.”

“Massive thank you to Ross and his partner for looking after Walter on New Year’s Eve. Really easy and quick to communicate with, flexible and accommodating and lovely spacious and secure home. Felt very comfortable leaving our dog with them as clearly dog lovers and lots of updates whilst he stayed with them. Thanks!”

“Emily was great with Redd. She kept me updated every day with pictures and I felt comfortable that she knew how to manage a big dog. Her dog Tony is adorable too. Definitely would recommend and Redd will be visiting again whenever we need her. Thank you Emily x”

“Brilliant little family who took such good care of our little one. My three year old poodle was genuinely excited to see them when I was dropping him off for the second time! That’s never happened before. I got regular updates so I didn’t need to worry at all. My dog came home smelling fresh and very happy from all the wonderful fun and exciting walks! A very sweet and animal loving family who took care of him like he was their own - what more could I ask for ❤️”

“A very Big Thank you to Sarah for taking such great care of Janga. Sarah sent us lots of pictures and updates while we were away and this gave us great peace of mind knowing our Janga was being given lots of love and cuddles and that she was happy. Thank you also to Otis for sharing your mommy with our Janga and also so lovely to see how great Otis was with our Janga. We would highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a pet sitter and we will definitely be using Sarah for all our future bookings.”

About: I have a secure private garden and live very close to a local park. I have one cat, one dog, and a one-year-old baby at home. I work from home, so pets are never left alone. I have had cats and dogs for many years and genuinely love caring for them, playing with them, and making sure they feel safe and happy. Pet care is part of our everyday life. I work from home, so pets get regular attention, walks, and playtime throughout the day rather than being left alone. I provide a safe, calm, and supervised environment. I always follow owners’ routines and instructions, whether caring for pets in my home or in theirs, making sure pets feel comfortable, secure, and well cared for.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Sophie took amazing care of our two dogs while we were on holiday, and we came back to two very happy, well-cared-for pups. She provided regular updates, photos, and even went the extra mile to make sure our dogs felt comfortable and loved. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in such great hands. I highly recommend Sophie to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional dog sitter! We will definitely be using her services again!”

“We are so happy we found Julia and her lovely family. ❤️ From the very beginning, Julia was kind, thoughtful and kept us updated with lots of photos and videos, which meant so much to us. Lulu is a sensitive little dog and we were naturally a bit nervous leaving her, but she was so well looked after and genuinely treated like one of the family. It was lovely to see how well she got on with Ruby too. When we picked Lulu up, she was happy, relaxed and her usual playful self. She settled straight back at home, ate her dinner as normal and was actually calmer than after any previous boarding stay, which really says it all. Thank you, Julia, and thank you to your lovely girls for giving Lulu so much love. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you and would happily leave Lulu with you again. 🥰🐾”

“Alexandra and her family yet again do an amazing job of taking care of Mabel. We always get so nervous leaving her but as soon as we drop her off we feel totally at ease and are able to enjoy our break. We get kept in the loop with lots of updates and Mabel comes back very happy and very tired from all the amazing walks she goes on. Thankyou and we will see you again soon!”

“Maddie loved staying with Jessica (and Kent), who treated her wonderfully. Jessica kept us well informed about how Maddie was getting on, with lots of lovely photos, and showed a real interest in Maddie's wellbeing (Maddie felt a bit poorly on one occasion). As a Senior dog Maddie appreciated being carried up stairs, and being allowed to sleep wherever she wanted. Maddie would love to come back to Jessica when we are next away.”
“I left my whippet in Sally's hands and he was very well cared for. He went on walks, Sally made sure he was the most comfortable at night and I received regular updates with pictures. It was just like being at home for my dog and I'm sure he never even missed us at all!”

About: Hi! I'm Melissa, and caring for animals has always been one of the biggest passions in my life. For the past 10 years, I've volunteered with animal rescue organisations in both the UK and China, where I've had the privilege of caring for animals and helping them find loving forever homes. During that time, I've fostered six cats in the UK, as well as five adult dogs, two puppies and a kitten in China. Every animal has taught me something new, and I've become confident caring for pets with different personalities, routines and needs. I know how difficult it can be to leave your pet with someone else, so my priority is making sure they feel safe, comfortable and cared for while you're away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles or simply a calm companion to keep them company, I'll take the time to get to know them and care for them as if they were my own. I'll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and in safe hands. I can't wait to meet you and your furry family members! I have full-time availability and a flexible schedule, allowing me to accommodate weekdays, weekends and last-minute bookings. I'm happy to discuss your pet's routine and work around your preferred drop-off and pick-up times whenever possible. I provide a safe, calm and caring environment where every pet is treated like part of the family. My home is a bungalow with no stairs, making it suitable for pets of all ages, including senior dogs or those with mobility issues. I also have a fully fenced and secure garden where pets can safely enjoy time outdoors under supervision. I understand that every pet has their own routine, so I'll follow their usual feeding, exercise and sleeping schedule as closely as possible to help them feel settled. I'm experienced using crates if this is part of your pet's routine and will always respect your preferences and instructions. There are several lovely parks and walking routes nearby, and I have access to a car, allowing me to take dogs on regular walks or travel if needed. Having volunteered with animal rescue organisations and fostered both dogs and cats, I'm experienced caring for pets with different personalities and needs, and I always take the time to ensure they feel safe, happy and loved while you're away. I'll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands.

Sarah and her family were GREAT with our 6 year old nervous and shy rescue dog. Sarah offered to take Koya for a couple of afternoons before our holidays (for free!) so he could get to know her. We then entrusted Koya to Sarah for 6 weeks and could tell from the photos that he settled in nicely and felt safe. Definitely will be back. Thank you.

Exceptional! Juliana is so kind, responsible and welcoming and took excellent care of Honey. Our dog Honey came back better trained than when we left! Juliana really understands dogs and is a brilliant trainer. Excellent communication from Juliana and she has a wonderful garden set up for the dogs. We are so thrilled and would highly recommend.

Mel and her husband are outstanding pet sitters. They took such wonderful care of Ash, he had the best time, lots of updates and photos. Spoilt with cuddles and nice walks. Ash has gained two new best friends. Lovely to have found a home from home environment for him, feel very relaxed knowing he is in the care of these two dedicated dog lovers. Thank you so much 🤩

Our spaniel Oscar had a great time on his first 4 day holiday at Ross and Darren's lovely home. They made my children and I very welcome when we took Oscar for our meet and greet, Oscar felt straight at home and loved their spacious garden and their 2 adorable dogs! The pick up and drop back home service also greatly appreciated. Oscar came home very happy and is looking forward to his next holiday there🐾

Georgina was lovely and very reassuring from the beginning. The house has a big garden with plenty of space for dogs to roam around and Nala came back absolutely exhausted, having had a lovely time. We wouldn't hesitate to leave Nala with Georgina again in the future! Thanks for having her 🙂

Christina and her family were amazing looking after our labrador Isla for two weeks at relatively short notice. Her communication from the outset was responsive and she took the time to get to know Isla before agreeing to the sitting to ensure she was the right sitter, which I really appreciated. Christina provided updates and pictures throughout the period and we could tell Isla was being well looked after. Thank you Christina!
Juste was amazing. Very caring with our Nala and very communicative to us during our 2 week holiday. She sent pictures very frequently and commented on her wellbeing, especially given the hot weather and how Nala was coping with it. We have a GPS tracker on Nala's collar and we saw through the app how frequent and where Nala was being taken for walks and we are very happy as she looked fully engaged in the walk videos, was playing fetch and dipping her paws in water pools/quiet rivers. Throughout her stay with Juste. Will definitely trust our Nala again in a future ocassion.

A big thank you to Emily and Tony for hosting Bobby for a week while we were on holiday. Emily was very friendly, reliable and fantastic at ensuring we had regular updates of how he was doing including photos. We would be more than happy for her to look after him again in the future.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
