“Freddie had a wonderful time with Lizzy for a few days holiday. She was so kind and caring and respectful of his needs I don’t think he wanted to come home! Highly recommended”

“Sally was excellent unfortunatly Gizmo was taken ill the day before which required treatment, Sally was still happy to have him and took him to the vets when needed, would def recommend Sally, regular updates and Gizmo was fine after what was a worrying time.”

“Rio loved his stay and spending time with Rocky. He was very well looked after and we were kept updated daily with messages and photos. Very happy. Thank you very much.”

“Holly made the whole boarding process really simple, great communicator who provides lovely updates of Willow settled in and out on woodland walks. Would highly recommend. Thankyou”

“Absolutely brilliant! We’re so happy with Eirida. She has a lovely home and took care of our Bruno, taking him out for regular walks. She also kept us updated with photos and texts daily”

“Diamond took a couple of days to settle, but after this seemed to have a great time. Chriszl sent photos, videos and updates every day. This was really helpful. We went back for day care a few days after the boarding and he was visibly excited to go back. Would use again.”

“Rebecca is fantastic - from taking the time to come over and meet Marcie a few weeks ago, arranging a dog walk with me and Marcie so she could see how she was off the lead and with other dogs, and coming to us to collect/bring her home. She also gave us daily updates on how Marcie was getting on. Already booked for another stay ! Thanks Rebecca :)”

“Toni was absolutely amazing, kept us informed regularly and provided pictures of our dog throughout the day. Would definitely be using Toni in the future. Highly recommend.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better care for our dachshund Peggy while we were away. Jean looked after her for 10 nights, providing wonderful 1:1 care and taking the time to understand and cater for Peggy’s medical needs. Jean kept us updated with lovely photos and messages throughout our holiday, which gave us real peace of mind. It was clear that Peggy was happy, comfortable, and very well cared for in Jean’s home. When we picked her up, she was relaxed and settled, which said a lot about the care and attention she had received. We are so grateful to Jean for looking after Peggy so beautifully and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, trustworthy, and caring dog boarder.”

“My dog returned happy as he’s ever been from a weeks stay with Ciaran, I was kept up to date with activities and sent better pictures than I’d ever taken of him. I think he’s an even better dog now. Nice calm location with great walks.”

“Vicky offers a fabulous dog boarding service where you feel reassured that your pet is being very well looked after. I had regular updates and returned to a very happy pup who has since informed me that I need to up my game after his stay with Vicky! I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting dog boarding.”

“I cannot thank Emily enough for taking on my 11 month old puppy at extremely short notice and looking after her for four weeks while I recovered from surgery. The twice daily updates of photos and videos reassured me that she was having the best time ever with at least two walks a day, plenty of mental stimulation, and lots of rest time and cuddles. She also got on very well with Emily’s spaniel, Willow, who was very welcoming, happy to share her toys, and is a very chilled dog. Emily and Alex, thank you so much for your kindness and care, and Millie will be looking forward to seeing you all again for any future holidays.”

“Nick took great care of Socs - and us! It was Socs first time away from home and we were very nervous, but Nick made sure we were kept informed and it was lovely to see him settling in. The meet and greet was really helpful and showed Nicks experience, it was particularly comforting to know that Nick had boarded Daschunds before. Thank you Nick 😊”

“Amy and family are delightful and clearly love dogs and making sure she had all the information needed for the stay. I know Wolfie really enjoyed his stay with lots of walks, a swim, cuddles and a large garden to enjoy! I was so glad that he had canine company too. Thank you so much for looking after our boy with care and attention. Highlyy recommended!”

“Can’t rate Kirsty highly enough, very friendly and accommodating to last minutes time changes and above all else Nebula looked so happy in the pictures, which is the most important part. Will definitely use again. Thank you”

Jolene was fantastic looking after our Beagle, Nala. It was our first time leaving Nala with someone outside of the family, so we were naturally a little nervous, but Jolene put our minds completely at ease. Nala stayed for a week, and we received regular updates and photos showing just how happy and settled she was. She also got on brilliantly with Jolene’s dog, Gracie, which was lovely to see. Being able to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing that Nala was so well cared for meant a lot to us. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Jolene again and would highly recommend her to anyone

I was nervous about leaving my cockapoo with someone I'd found online for the first time, but I absolutely shouldn't have been! Malcolm and his family went above and beyond to look after her. They sent photos and videos throughout the stay so I always knew she was happy and settled, and they were easily contactable whenever I wanted to check in. She also got on brilliantly with their dog Frank, which made it even more reassuring to know she had a little companion to play with. It's clear they treated her like one of their own. I couldn't recommend them more highly and will definitely be booking again!

Nita and her family were wonderful carers for our dog. The second time we went back Milo went straight in and was keen to see Nita. Milo needed probiotics the second time and Nita was absolutely fine to give them. I got lots of videos and photos on their walks. I have booked twice already and will book again!

We can’t thank Orla enough. It was our first time going away for a long trip and leaving our dog with someone else for 10 days, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter. Orla sent us daily updates and photos, which was such a comfort, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. We were able to completely relax knowing our dog was so well looked after. Highly recommend Orla – we’ll definitely be booking again!

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
