About: I am a responsible and caring pet sitter who truly loves animals. I have experience looking after dogs and cats, including feeding, walking, playing, and ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. I am attentive to each pet’s needs, patient with different temperaments, and always follow owners’ instructions carefully. Whether it’s daily walks or day care, I treat every pet as if they were my own. My schedule is quite flexible, as my children are grown up, so I have plenty of time to care for furry friends. I can adapt to different routines and am happy to fit around your pet’s needs, whether it’s regular visits, walks, or longer stays. I take safety and trust very seriously. I have public liability insurance and I am DBS checked for your peace of mind. I always make sure pets are cared for in a calm, safe environment and follow any instructions closely to keep their routine consistent.
About: I’ve grown up around dogs, they have always been a part of my family, we currently have two and one is a rescue. But since moving out of my family home I really miss having dogs around which is why I’m more than happy to help out looking after others! I often help out with friends and families dogs too from walking to house sitting whilst on holiday. They all range in size and age so I have varied experience with all different dogs. I currently work as a surveyor but I have the flexibility to work from home 3 days a week so plenty of time to help with your dogs. I’m usually not available on Tuesday and Thursdays, and If I’m not available on the weekends this will be shown in my calendar. I keep my calendar kept as up to date as possible. Looking after dogs in the owners house, I will be able to follow advice and rules of their house as I’ve done this multiple times with friends/ families dogs. I basically mirror the routine that the owner follows so the dog can be relaxed as possible.
About: I have raised and cared for two Labradors since I was 11 years old including walking, feeding and training. I love spending time with all dog breeds and have experience with caring for young and old dogs alike and all ages in between. I am always the friend that stops on the road to say hello to a passing dog! I work from home 3 days a week so am able to dog sit and walk during these days. I also work locally so can walk dogs before or after work on the days I do go into the office. I can be flexible. Our home is very close to Clarence park, which is a very friendly area for dog walking. I have a car so can take to a number of different parks or woods, which is my idea of a good walk! Please do let me know if the are any specific instructions regarding food, special care or medication. Additionally, being aware of the dog's personality and behaviour would be great so I can better plan walks or activities.
“Haiqing was amazing with my cat. She was so caring - I had no worries leaving him with her. Photo and video update daily along with a text message. 100% would recommend”

About: I’m a friendly and caring pet sitter who truly loves spending time with animals. Over the past 5 years, I’ve looked after the pets of friends, family, and local neighbours, building wonderful relationships along the way, with now have a couple of regulars multiple times a year who I truly get excited too see! What started as helping out those close to me has grown into caring for many local pups, and I’ve found so much joy and fulfilment in every little friend I get to make. I recently took a break for dog sitting while I settled into my new home and new job. But I am ready to start seeing some new friendly faces! I currently work from home most of the week which allows me look after 4 legged friends while you may be at work or away. I spend most of my time at home working during the day so I am with your pet all day. We tend to get out for a walk a couple of times a day, plus lots of work breaks for me to play and cuddle your pet. I like to create a safe, calm and comfortable space for your dog to relax and hang out while they wait for you to return. My main objective is to make them feel as at home as possible and to let them see I am someone they can trust.
About: I've cared for dogs since I was a child with the family dog. I've had experience caring for guide dog puppies, so I'm well prepared for any puppy antics. I'm currently searching for work so my schedule may change, but I will update my profile and availability if it changes. Otherwise, I am available all day everyday except Friday mornings. I live with one friendly cat who will most likely keep to herself. I have a green garden with a fence and I live close to many parks perfect for dog walks.
“Chloe was great with my cat. She sent photos and followed my instructions really well. I'm so happy she looked after him. My home was tidy and clean when I got back and Timmy seemed very cosy laying in bed waiting for us to come home. Thank you for looking after him whilst we were away 😊”

About: I have had all types of dogs throughout my life from little to large with different temperaments. I understand how to handle different types of dogs and will be on hand throughout for any of their needs. I work from home full time and am mum to an energetic bubbly Cockapoo called max. As I work from home I can attend for all doggy needs and am available for lots of walks around the local park which is just across the road and if your dog likes to swim and splash in water just like my doggy then there is lots of places around for this. I have a fenced courtyard and live just opposite verulamium park. I have ample amount of toys and a large well stocked treat jar and your dog can treat this like their own home from home.
“Amanda was amazing! She took great care of Mario over Christmas and New Year, keeping us updated with photos and messages. We came home to a happy and relaxed pet, and it was clear how much she cared. Highly recommend and will definitely book with her again. Thank you!”

“I was away for a week taking the family on holiday and Jordan and Leticia helped organise a meet and greet before hand and then were very organised with Nova during the daily drop ins - an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. They took lots of photos and videos every day and shared them with me. Nova seemed very very happy to run around and play fetch with tennis balls - and now trots around with a tennis ball in her mouth!”

“Excellent service! June dropped in to see our pup Dino while we were out & he had a fabulous time with her. She kept us up to date with pictures & videos so we knew he was happy. Dino was absolutely full of beans when we got home, clearly wanting to let us know how much fun he'd had! Would definitely recommend!”

About: I previously raised three dogs of my own and have over 15 years of experience caring for dogs. After they all passed away, I hoped to share the love I had for them with even more dogs. I am also a professional pet groomer. During boarding stays, grooming services can be added if needed, so every owner can welcome home their dog clean, fresh, and smelling wonderful. I work from home Monday to Friday, so I’m available to take dogs out for walks at any time. I can arrange boarding most of the time as well. I have a fenced garden at home, and dogs are free to move around the house except for the bedrooms. There are only two of us in the household, with no children, your dog can enjoy a peaceful, stable environment and have a happy, relaxing holiday. Please tell me about your pet’s daily routine and eating habits. I will do my best to follow their usual schedule so they can feel just as comfortable as they do at home.

“Rosie was brill, arranged a visit before we went away for an introduction, to understand our cats needs and where everything is etc. Sent daily photos and updates whilst we were away and was happy to accommodate flexible visits, she also kindly swept and hoovered before we came back! Thanks so much Rosie”

“Lara did a one hour drop in for our dog Benny whilst we were out for the night at a concert. Everything went smoothly. Lara is really lovely and we would trust her again. Thank you”

“Thank you Ellie! I arrived home to two very relaxed and happy cats last night. The flat was as I left it etc so all good. Ellie was great from the offset, communication was good and I felt totally at ease on first meeting, the cats seemed very relaxed around Ellie too. We had video & picture updates each visit. Will be booking Ellie again soon!”

About: Myself and my fiancé, Elliot, have grown up with pets all our lives and miss having dogs around so much! We live in St Albans with both Clarence Park and Verulamium Park in super easy reach and we feel at a loss going for walks without a pooch in tow. We’re super active and love to be outside (no matter the weather). We’re a relatively low key, responsible and chilled couple. Both of us have experience looking after our family dogs as puppies, right through to old age. We also appreciate how much of a family member they are and that it’s scary leaving your dog with someone else who you hardly know - we’d of course be open to meeting anyone and their dog before needing to commit to us taking care of them - trust is so important! We promise to care for and love your pooch just as you would :) I work two days a week from home, starting at 9am so can do pick up anytime before. I’m an early riser so morning walks before 9am are no problem. I have an hour for lunch break where I love to get out of the house, and from 5.30pm free as a bird! Boarding over the weekend is no problem and for all day care I’d be taking your pooch of 2-3 walks a day if that suits the dog. Of course if elderly and needs shorter/less walks that’s not a problem! Our garden is completely fenced of with no means of escape! Our home is around 1,000 sq ft mid-terrace. We have no problem with dogs going upstairs but of course if this is against what they do at home, we will enforce any rules you have for them so we don’t undo any training!
About: As someone who grew up with at least one pet in the house (dogs, cats, birds, lizards, and fish), I have a lifelong love of animals and genuinely enjoy caring for them. For several years, I provided pet care for people in my apartment complex, gaining experience with anxious pets as well as those requiring medication and extra attention. Bonus: I'm a marine biology graduate, so please let me watch your fish <3 My schedule is currently very flexible! I have open availability throughout the week, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Because I won't be starting my master's program until September, I'm able to accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening! I'm happy to work with your pet's routine to make sure they receive the care and attention they need. I am flexible to meet the needs of each animal in their own home. I want to ensure each animal is as happy and cared for as possible.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - St. Albans
Carla was fantastic. I can’t recommend her highly enough! She took wonderful care of my Teddy and kept me updated throughout with lots of photos and videos. It was so reassuring to see how happy and excited he was to see her every day. On one particularly hot day, she even came back for a second visit just to make sure the flat was properly ventilated, which really showed how thoughtful and caring she is. Carla is incredibly considerate and genuinely loves animals. I felt completely at ease knowing Teddy was in such safe hands. I’ll definitely be booking her again!

Haiqing has been absolutely fantastic and I cannot recommend her enough! She has been so reliable and a real life saver when we’ve needed a cat sitter, even when it has been last minute. She also has been super with our cat and I never have to worry about him when we are away.

Ellie took such great care of our cats!! Upon meeting she was very attentive and clearly passionate and caring. Our cats immediately felt comfortable with her and we received daily updates with every visit that put us at ease while we were away. 10/10 We’d definitely have her again.

Purple and her husband Archie were brilliant looking after our cat Penny, and even watered the garden as we were away during a heatwave. They gave us regular updates and sent lots of photos, and it was really reassuring to know Penny was being so well cared for. Thank you ☺️

We were away for a week, and Jen took care of our very shy, anxious cats who hide from just about everyone. Muffin became particularly comfortable around Jen, and even accepted some much-needed fuss - that was a lovely surprise! Luna might need a bit more time, but I’m confident Jen will win her over when we’re next away. Thanks Jen!

I was very impressed and pleased after Sam looked after Heidi for a week in which being the first time having Sam She was very professional, sent me video/photos/messages keeping me updated everyday. Sam done an amazing job at keeping Heidi as cool as possible in the awful heatwave even though She liked to play and be brushed. I would definitely use Sam again as left my home clean and tidy and one happy cat.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
