Pet care experience

Personal trainer & seamstress who loves animals

I've had pets since I was young. I had a period of not bring able to have animals, due to my partner being allergic, but now I am enjoying having furry companions once more. My past pets have been rescues- my longest term cat needed regular bathing, grooming & medication so I am used to administering to pets. I've looked after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, hamsters, a tortoise... and treat my friends pets as I would my own.

We were away for a week, and Jen took care of our very shy, anxious cats who hide from just about everyone. Muffin became particularly comfortable around Jen, and even accepted some much-needed fuss - that was a lovely surprise! Luna might need a bit more time, but I’m confident Jen will win her over when we’re next away. Thanks Jen!

Thank you for looking after Cassie. As usual you did a grand job, despite a very grumpy cat!

Schedule

I don't have a standard 9 to 5 job... I do a mixture of things that give me a more flexible lifestyle... being a qualified personal trainer to teaching yoga & sewing, doing sewing alterations & made to measure seamstress projects, promotions & acting work.... giving me the freedom to work from home when I like & to be available for my furry companions.

Where your pet will stay

Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a bungalow & have a large expanse of lawned garden backing onto a stream (in addition to living near several parks) so four legged visitors can have plenty of fresh air & exercise. I request that all my boarders have up-to-date flea treatment ( this is vital for the health & comfort of your animal as well as other pets & myself) & are fully house & toilet trained (not puppy pads) so that there are no bad feelings due to damages or neighbours being disturbed by excessive pet noises. I am happy to pet sit as well as have animals board in my own home but please bear in mind i will need to pop out not only to food shop but also to see my other work clients so pets must be able to be left for short periods if you choose me to sit. In addition my partner, Clayton, also loves animals and is often on hand to help out (as he too is a personal trainer), so effectively you get two pairs of hands for the price of one (this is particularly useful when you have more than one pet that needs attention, or walking, at the same time, and also allows us to fill in for each other when needs arise).

A typical day

There is no typical day for me & my four legged visitors... it very much depends on the individual boarder as to whether they prefer more exercise, with walks in the park or games in the garden, or more creature comforts, with warmth, companionship & fussing at home.

Please let me know if there is anything in particular your furry family member likes or needs, or anything they find difficult or worrying & whether they are ok to be let off the lead in public parks. I would ask that generally meet & greets are arranged locally to myself in St.Albans & where that is not possible that my time & travel are compensated for (simply that otherwise it can cut into the time I have for those already booked). Please feel free to bring any special toys or other things that you feel will make your pet feel at home during their stay... although attention & fussing comes as standard.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
