“She is the best rover we’ve ever had. Extremely communicative, can problem solve, and genuinely seems to enjoy spending time with the animals. Highly recommend!!”

About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog. I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!
“Alexia did an outstanding job visiting my boy while I was away for two nights! Super nice, kind, responsible, and excellent in every way. Can’t wait to have her watch him again. Thank you, Alexia!”

About: Let me tell you about my girl, what she meant to me, and how I will treat your companions because they deserve the same. I adopted my rescue dog years ago, and she became my best friend, companion, protector, and family. We shared life together. She taught me that trust comes first, that every one is different, and that patience, consistency, attention, and presence matter. When I first adopted her, I was told she didn't like affection or being held. What I learned was that she simply needed trust. Once she felt safe, she showed me who she really was. That experience taught me to pay attention, be patient, and let each one get comfortable in their own time. I understand the importance of routine, exercise, play, companionship, quiet time, and consistency. I pay attention to personality, preferences, comfort level, and the small details that help someone feel secure while their family is away. My girl recently passed away. I will not be replacing her. Instead, I decided to come here and help care for your boy or girl because they deserve the same attention, patience, respect, and care that she received throughout her life. I provide dog walking, drop-in visits, house sitting, feeding, fresh water, bathroom breaks, playtime, companionship, and routine care. I own and operate my own business and work remotely during the week, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be present throughout the day. I can adjust my work around the needs of those in my care. I also drive part-time on some weekend evenings and can adjust my schedule as needed. For house sitting, I typically spend 2–4 hours of dedicated time each day focused on walks, play, care, companionship, and routine activities, in addition to the time I am present in the home while working remotely. Depending on the arrangement, I may be away for periods during the day, but I remain available for check-ins, walks, feeding, and care. My goal is simple: to provide reliable care, maintain routines, and help your boy or girl feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you are away. I own and operate my own business and work remotely during the week, which gives me a flexible schedule throughout the day. I can adjust my work as needed to make sure your companion receives the attention, care, walks, playtime, and companionship they need. I also drive part-time on some weekend evenings and can adjust my availability when caring for your boy or girl. For house sitting, I am generally available for short-term and extended stays ranging from a few days to four weeks. My only regularly scheduled personal commitment is on Tuesdays, though longer stays can be planned around that with advance notice. I care for companions in their own environment where they are most comfortable and familiar. I understand that trust, routine, consistency, and attention are important. I take the time to learn their schedule, habits, personality, comfort level, and any special needs so I can maintain the routines that help them feel secure. I believe trust is earned through patience, respect, and reliable care. Some want attention immediately. Others need time and space first. I pay attention to their behavior and let them get comfortable at their own pace while maintaining their wellbeing and routine.

“Alexandra watched my dog Korra and did an absolutely outstanding job. From the moment they met, Alexandra’s professionalism and genuine compassion for animals were so easy to see. Korra is a rescue with anxiety, and being away from home — especially during work trips — can be really stressful for her. Alexandra handled this with incredible patience, taking the time to read Korra’s behavioral cues and adjust her approach accordingly. She truly went above and beyond to make sure Korra felt safe and comfortable. I couldn’t recommend her more highly and will absolutely be booking again.”

About: I’ve cared for pets for the better part of a decade, including my own 6 year old Australian Shepherd. Growing up I worked on a farm so I learned to be patient and tolerate all behaviors displayed by domesticated and non-domesticated animals. I currently work from 7am-3pm. As soon as I get home I walk my dog. At which point, part of our walk can be taking care of your pet in any capacity as we enjoy our time outside. He will not enter any residence and will remain outside until your pet is cared for. He’s great with all animals and if you’re comfortable with your pet meeting him, he will be happy to be their buddy. Living downtown, I have plenty of amazing parks and walkable areas I can take your dog. If you would like your cat walked that’s pretty cool too and I can provide the same resources in a manner that’s more suitable for cats.

About: I have a cat of my own for three years now so I am very familiar with working with animals and caring for them. I am trying to get my foot in the animal industry so I thought this would be a good opportunity to learn more about animals and care for them. I do work part time in the mornings during the week but in the afternoon and nights I have full availability and able to work around my schedule if full time hours are offered. I currently have two dogs in one cats. I have a blue Doberman, Belgium, Melany, German👽 Shepherd mix and a long hair domestic cat. The dogs have had for about seven years now. And my cat. I’ve had for about three years, so I am very familiar with caring for animals, attending to their needs.

About: I have worked with dogs for more than a year and would definitely be the best pet sitter & walker and treat them like my own. i am avaliable part time due to enrolling in college. I am pretty flexible with scheduling and will do my best to work hard and as many hours to take care of the fur babies. I can easily follow directions and will make sure to go the extra mile to keep any dog/dogs safe and make sure they are always happy and comfortable around me and also plan to keep the owners updated as much as possible throughout my care.
“Viktorija was an absolutely amazing, attentive and consistently kept my pets well cared for and loved with plenty of attention. Wonderful to work with and communication was always above and beyond. Amazing photography from Viktorija of my pets while I was away as well!”
About: I've been caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities for over 10 years. I own a small dog myself and understand how important it is to leave your pet with someone responsible and attentive. I focus on creating a calm and safe environment, respecting routines, feeding schedules, and walks. I always observe the dogs' body language and act with patience and care. I treat every pet as if they were part of my own family. Caring for pets fits naturally into my daily routine, as I organize my activities to be present and attentive throughout the day. I spend most of my time at home, which allows me to supervise, play with, and attend to the needs of each pet. I adapt to their feeding, walking, and rest schedules so they feel comfortable and relaxed during their stay. I provide a calm, safe, and supervised environment. I always respect each pet's routines and preferences, observe their body language, and act with patience. I keep the areas clean and safe, and I take controlled walks according to the owner's instructions. If I care for the pet in their home, I follow all instructions to maintain their usual space and routine.
About: I am Bradley and I have taken care of dogs for the past 10 years. My own dog is almost 9 years old, 20 pounds, and is very friendly. I dog sit pretty often and love have extra furry friends stay with us. We have close access to grass for potty breaks and Balboa Park is only a few blocks away. We love to get outside and walk the neighborhood. I work from home, so I have lots of time to make sure any dogs staying with me has plenty of time to get outside and play. I typically am outside with my dog 4x a day. My own home has plenty of space to roam around. My dog is very friendly but typically keeps to herself even when other dogs are around. I am always available to help your dog for any particular need they might have.
“Darya is fantastic with cats! Pepito is always well taken care of and happy when I get back. Darya communicates any issues very quickly, and makes sure Pepito has everything he needs while I’m away. She follows all the instructions for his care and send me cute photos with each visit :)”

About: I treat every pet like my own, giving them the same love, care and patience I give my own pup. Plus my job allows me to have an endless supply of treats and toys for every need. I currently work at a pet ret retail company headquartered in San Diego! This allows me to have a pet friendly work place and also the flexibility of working from home if needed. I have a very nice and playful mini Aussie that loves company and is always willing to go on walks or play around at home.

About: Hi, I'm Halle! I live in downtown SD with my roommate. We currently have a 20lb dog at home who I help take care of. My mom used to breed dogs so I am familiar with puppies as well. I've had all kinds of pets growing up from rodents to birds! As a small woman, I prefer small to medium sized dogs (under 50lbs) that I can physically handle in case they are leash pullers. I am happy to take care of larger dogs if they are more mellow. I am very flexible when it comes to scheduling. When housesitting, I can stay at your place for the majority of the day, but I no longer do overnight stays as I am a light sleeper and need to be in my own bed at night. Please note this before contacting me if you need overnight coverage. Every pet has different needs and personalities. I do my best to keep their routine consistent and familiar so they feel safe and calm while their family is away. I am open to accommodating whatever preferences you and your pet may have!

“Christine was great and took wonderful care of my Devon Rex. She is communicative, reliable and did a wonderful job ensuring his food, water and litter box were replenished and clean upon each visit. I would definitely book her again when I travel next.”

About: I’ve had pets my entire adult life, dogs and a cat. My dogs I had from the time they were puppies and my cat since she was a kitten. My family has always had dogs of all sizes and throughout their life spans so I love all ages and sizes! I am currently available during weekdays from 7am - 7pm and 10am - 7pm on the weekends for drop ins. If you need me outside of those hours, please reach out and I can check my schedule! Let me know if your pet has any special needs or any things I should know while I’m caring for them. I‘ll always do my best to treat them as my own!
About: Hi there! I’m new to pet sitting on Rover, but I’ve been a lifelong dog lover! I’ve had my own Pomeranian names Simba for 10 years, so I know how special our furry friends are. Right now, I’m looking for a job, so I have lots of free time to give your pup the attention they deserve! I offer dog walking and daytime at-home sitting in Downtown and nearby areas, so your dog will have a buddy all day. I’m excited to meet your pup and keep them safe, happy, and active! Requested information about your pet I just ask to let me know in advance what NOT to do/say with your pet. For example, my Pomeranian gets crazy zoomies if you say ‘who’s there?’, he rushes to my front door, spins and bark and it till he will not get absolutely tired. I would also like to know all important details about your pet friendliness with other animals and humans, their health and of course your preferred Pet Hospital. I’m currently actively looking for a remote job in Tech so I have all the time in the world to spend quality time with you fluffy friend. As I have my own pup waiting for me at home, I am looking for more standard working hours I’m not able to host pets at my home, but I’m more than happy to stay at your place for multiple hours during the day. I’ll follow all your pet’s routines, instructions, and any safety measures you have in place. Just let me know your preferences, and I’ll make sure I follow them closely!

Wow!!! Danielle was easy to communicate with and seems like she genuinely enjoyed spending time with our cats Suzie, Finny and Millie! This makes such a difference when working with a new sitter as you feel you can naturally trust them to take amazing care of the little ones, which gives true peace of mind :) She also sent a nice update with many lovely pictures! Thanks Danielle!

Samantha did a great job watching the kitties. She followed the care instructions and extended efforts by cleaning up some messes from the cats and even gave our jumping spider some attention during my trip. Quick communication and responses which kept us at ease.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
