About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog (does not live with me). I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!
About: Hello!! I recently moved to San Diego and joined Rover because I really missed caring for and spending time with the pets I regularly looked after back home! I genuinely love animals and take the responsibility of caring for someone else’s pet very seriously. I’ve been caring for pets for about 7 years and am attentive to each pet’s personality, routine, and needs, whether that means long walks and playtime or extra patience and cuddles! I’m comfortable with walking, feeding, bathing, overnight care, and following specific instructions. My goal is for you to feel completely at ease knowing your pet is safe, happy, and very loved while they’re with me! 🐾💝 As a graduate student, my schedule is pretty flexible, which gives me plenty of time to fit pet care into my routine! I’m available mornings, afternoons, and evenings throughout the week depending on the day, and I have open availability on weekends. I’m happy to work around your pet’s usual schedule for walks, drop-ins, playtime, or overnight care. I’ll always communicate clearly about my availability and do my best to make scheduling as easy and flexible as possible! Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority! I’m very attentive and will follow your pet’s normal routine and care instructions closely so they feel as comfortable as possible while you’re away. Whether I’m stopping by for a walk or staying overnight, I’ll treat both your pet and your home with the same care and respect I would my own. I’m also happy to provide plenty of updates and pictures so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and getting lots of love and attention!

About: Dogs have been part of my life since I was a child, and I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels for over 11 years. I was the proud owner of a special-needs senior dog who I cared for from the time I was 18 until he peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge, so I understand the patience, dedication, and unconditional love our pets deserve. I also regularly dog sit and have experience walking large breeds, handling excited or strong dogs on leash, and staying calm in stressful situations. Safety is always my top priority, whether we’re out for a walk or relaxing at home. I treat every dog like they’re part of my own family, making sure they receive plenty of exercise, affection, routine, and personalized care. My goal is for both you and your pup to feel completely comfortable and confident while you’re apart. I’m currently in school, so I appreciate the flexibility that pet sitting provides. Outside of occasional Monday and Wednesday mornings, my schedule is very open, and I’m happy to accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits. If you’re located in the downtown area, I’m especially available for drop-in visits, walks, feedings, or last-minute check-ins. Caring for animals has been part of my daily routine for over 10 years, so fitting pet care into my schedule comes naturally. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine will always be my top priorities. I understand how important consistency is, so I’ll follow your care instructions closely—from feeding schedules and medications to walks, playtime, and bedtime routines. I pay close attention to each animal’s body language and behavior and can recognize when something seems off. I have experience caring for pets with different personalities, energy levels, and medical needs, and I remain calm in stressful situations. I treat every pet as if they were my own, keeping them safe, loved, entertained, and well cared for while you’re away. I’ll also send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in good hands.
“Darya was an excellent caretaker for our 2 cats with twice daily drop in visits. She took time to play with our babies and get them lots of pets. We could tell by the pictures she sent that both cats were very appreciative of her care. We would hire Darya again!”

About: Let me tell you about my girl, what she meant to me, and how I will treat your companions because they deserve the same. I adopted my rescue dog years ago, and she became my best friend, companion, protector, and family. We shared life together. She taught me that trust comes first, that every one is different, and that patience, consistency, attention, and presence matter. When I first adopted her, I was told she didn't like affection or being held. What I learned was that she simply needed trust. Once she felt safe, she showed me who she really was. That experience taught me to pay attention, be patient, and let each one get comfortable in their own time. I understand the importance of routine, exercise, play, companionship, quiet time, and consistency. I pay attention to personality, preferences, comfort level, and the small details that help someone feel secure while their family is away. My girl recently passed away. I will not be replacing her. Instead, I decided to come here and help care for your boy or girl because they deserve the same attention, patience, respect, and care that she received throughout her life. I provide dog walking, drop-in visits, house sitting, feeding, fresh water, bathroom breaks, playtime, companionship, and routine care. I own and operate my own business and work remotely during the week, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be present throughout the day. I can adjust my work around the needs of those in my care. I also drive part-time on some weekend evenings and can adjust my schedule as needed. For house sitting, I typically spend 2–4 hours of dedicated time each day focused on walks, play, care, companionship, and routine activities, in addition to the time I am present in the home while working remotely. Depending on the arrangement, I may be away for periods during the day, but I remain available for check-ins, walks, feeding, and care. My goal is simple: to provide reliable care, maintain routines, and help your boy or girl feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you are away. I own and operate my own business and work remotely during the week, which gives me a flexible schedule throughout the day. I can adjust my work as needed to make sure your companion receives the attention, care, walks, playtime, and companionship they need. I also drive part-time on some weekend evenings and can adjust my availability when caring for your boy or girl. For house sitting, I am generally available for short-term and extended stays ranging from a few days to four weeks. My only regularly scheduled personal commitment is on Tuesdays, though longer stays can be planned around that with advance notice. I care for companions in their own environment where they are most comfortable and familiar. I understand that trust, routine, consistency, and attention are important. I take the time to learn their schedule, habits, personality, comfort level, and any special needs so I can maintain the routines that help them feel secure. I believe trust is earned through patience, respect, and reliable care. Some want attention immediately. Others need time and space first. I pay attention to their behavior and let them get comfortable at their own pace while maintaining their wellbeing and routine.

About: I’ve been around pets since i was a kid, family dog was a chocolate lab the cocker spaniel. I’ve was blessed with training 3 amazing dogs. Koda (husky), Cabela (Belgian Malinois), Remi (Weimaraner). Koda had seizures and i know how to administer pills as well as the nasal injection for when they are actively having a seizure. Cabela had no issues but she was high energy which i would take her on hikes, swimming and play ball for hours. Remi is diabetic and blind due to the insulin so i know how to administer insulin as well. I work from 8-430 Monday through Friday. Thursday and Friday i am fully remote so i am more available those days. Mon-Wednesday i work remote after 12 (as long as there is nothing urgent occurring at work). In my first home i spent quite a bit of money for my dogs to have a fenced in yard and a custom dog run area as well. My dogs were crate trained for bed time and when they were fed, I can follow your lead on how your pet is trained :)!
About: I have some pet care experience, particularly with puppy training and senior pet care. I understand their unique needs, ensuring they receive the right attention. My dedication to providing personalized care and building relationships with pets and their owners makes me a great choice for pet sitting. Pet care is an important part of my day. I have flexible hours during the week and weekends, so I can take good care of your pets. You can count on me to give them the attention they need. When caring for pets in my home or a client’s home, safety is my top priority. I keep the environment clean and remove any hazards. I follow routines for feeding and playtime to keep pets happy. I also stay in touch with pet owners to ensure I'm meeting their needs and preferences.
About: I’m a reliable, experienced animal lover with hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, chickens, horses, and goats. As a current dog owner, I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets and your home. My experience includes farm-sitting for large groups of animals, caring for elderly dogs and cats, and working with dogs of all sizes, personalities, and temperaments. I’m comfortable with walks, feedings, playtime, and providing extra patience and attention when pets need it. I work remotely with a flexible schedule, which allows me to be dependable and accommodating for walks and drop-in visits. I’m highly communicative, punctual, and detail-oriented, and I’ll always keep you updated so you know your pet is happy and cared for. Every pet is different, and I take the time to understand their routines, personalities, and needs. My goal is simple: to provide the same level of love, patience, and care I’d want for my own pets. I currently work remotely on a flexible schedule, which gives me the ability to work my day around your pet’s needs. Whether they need a midday walk, a quick check-in, a meal, some playtime, or simply a little companionship, I can build visits into my schedule between work tasks. This flexibility allows me to be dependable and responsive while giving your pet the attention and care they deserve throughout the day. Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. I’m attentive to their surroundings, behavior, and individual needs, and I take the time to make sure they’re secure before, during, and after every walk or drop-in. I’m also respectful of your home and will follow any instructions you provide regarding access, feeding, medications, routines, or special care. Because I work remotely on a flexible schedule, I’m able to give each visit my full attention rather than rushing in and out. I’ll communicate clearly, arrive on time, follow your pet’s routine, and provide updates so you know exactly how your pet is doing while you’re away. I understand that trusting someone with your pet — and giving them access to your home — is a big deal. My goal is to make that experience as easy, safe, and worry-free as possible.
“Alexia took wonderful care of my two cats! She has experience with animals and is kind and communicative and was available at a last minute when I needed it. Would recommend her to anyone!”

“We booked a drop in as a meet and greet for our pup Kylo. Denise was sweet, pleasant, and so caring! She was reassuring, supportive, and made us and Kylo feel comfortable! Plus, she had so many great stories and experiences to share. We can’t wait to book her again, and grow a relationship!!”

About: I started by taking care of my moms 4 dogs when she would go on vacations and needed a dog sitter. That really taught me how to feed them efficiently and when to take them outside to go potty. From there I learned how to hang out with them and play with them efficiently. I am a college student with classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday I am available for the entire day and night. On Wednesday and Friday I'm available at night, Monday I'm not because I have a night class. Staying over night is not a problem, along with check ins during the days even on school days. I love dogs and am really good at feeding them, taking them outside, and playing with them. I'm not a trainer, but someone who is good at taking care of them while you are away. My mom has 4 small dogs so I'm very familiar with smaller dogs, but I have also watched bigger dogs as well.
About: Hi there! I’m new to pet sitting on Rover, but I’ve been a lifelong dog lover! I’ve had my own Pomeranian names Simba for 10 years, so I know how special our furry friends are. Right now, I’m looking for a job, so I have lots of free time to give your pup the attention they deserve! I offer dog walking and daytime at-home sitting in Downtown and nearby areas, so your dog will have a buddy all day. I’m excited to meet your pup and keep them safe, happy, and active! Requested information about your pet I just ask to let me know in advance what NOT to do/say with your pet. For example, my Pomeranian gets crazy zoomies if you say ‘who’s there?’, he rushes to my front door, spins and bark and it till he will not get absolutely tired. I would also like to know all important details about your pet friendliness with other animals and humans, their health and of course your preferred Pet Hospital. I’m currently actively looking for a remote job in Tech so I have all the time in the world to spend quality time with you fluffy friend. As I have my own pup waiting for me at home, I am looking for more standard working hours I’m not able to host pets at my home, but I’m more than happy to stay at your place for multiple hours during the day. I’ll follow all your pet’s routines, instructions, and any safety measures you have in place. Just let me know your preferences, and I’ll make sure I follow them closely!
“Joseph is prompt, responsive, and exceptionally competent, especially with our old dog who needs lots of special care and patience. We have booked Joseph for a multi-day vacation, and I’m confident he will do well with both our dogs that week too.”

About: I've been the proud momma of 2 different lab mixes and many cats! I have experience pet sitting in the DC area including check-ins and walks! I am currently getting established in La Jolla, CA after moving from Washington DC, so my schedule is quite open! I'm looking to spend up to 20 hours a week caring for little fuzzy friends. Gentle and empathetic care of animals is super important. I love getting to know each pets personality and needs so that I can make them feel safe and happy by giving anything from quiet and space to pets and kisses!
“Armando is awesome! From the time we made contact, communication was great. My cat, Buddy, really enjoyed his time, and we are very grateful for Armando's commitment to Buddy's health and to the safety of our home. The first couple of days Buddy wasn't feeling well -- Armando and I reviewed the symptoms, made adjustments to food and medication, and within 24 hours we had turned a good corner! I got photos, activity reports, and we had a few phone calls at my request to make sure Armando had what he needed to keep my spoiled kitty happy :-). Thank You Armando!”

“Alexandra watched my dog Korra and did an absolutely outstanding job. From the moment they met, Alexandra’s professionalism and genuine compassion for animals were so easy to see. Korra is a rescue with anxiety, and being away from home — especially during work trips — can be really stressful for her. Alexandra handled this with incredible patience, taking the time to read Korra’s behavioral cues and adjust her approach accordingly. She truly went above and beyond to make sure Korra felt safe and comfortable. I couldn’t recommend her more highly and will absolutely be booking again.”

“Sandra is great with my basset hounds. They were not happy about getting their bath at first (being the spoiled children they are), but she has charmed them and now they are happy to see her!”

The median cost per visit for pet sitting in San Diego is $25

My dog is notoriously indifferent to anyone she doesn’t absolutely love, and notoriously selective with her affection. Kai managed to win her over in two short visits! On the human side of things, Kai was punctual, friendly, sent lots of pictures, and left a descriptive note, which I really appreciated. I’m always a little nervous introducing new carers, as my dog is a senior with medical issues, but I had no problem entrusting her to Kai. Reliable, flexible, and all-around wonderful!

Thank you Rachel for taking care of pumpkin while I was away! Rachael provided plenty of pictures, a sweet little recap of their visit and tons of enrichment for my boy. I hate having to leave my animals when I travel but feel so much better knowing they’re being watched after by someone who truly cares for them like their own, and that is Rachel. 100% recommend

I’m so glad Stass and I found Christine! She is so sweet, detailed and communicative. I travel a lot for work, and it brings me such peace of mind to know that Stassi is in great hands while I’m away. I am so grateful for the care and consistent updates she always provides. I 100% recommend her and have even asked to be a recurring client of hers! Thank you so much Christine!

Latisha was an amazing sitter for my cats! I had her drop on a few times while I was out of town to check on my babies. She was thorough and kind and made sure my cats got treats, play time, and pets. I have a cat who is particularly untrusting of strangers and she seems to take to Latisha right away which honestly has never happened! I'll definitely contact her in the future if I need check ins done again - I can't recommend her enough!

Emily was absolutely wonderful with our dog! From the moment we met her, it was clear how caring, trustworthy, and attentive she is. She kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Our pup was happy, relaxed, and clearly well loved when we got home. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter, and we're so grateful for the excellent care Emily provided. We would happily book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone kind, reliable, and genuinely great with dogs!

I'm so grateful that Destiny was able to help out when my usual sitter had to cancel last minute! She was very conscientious, taking proactive steps to look after my cat when there was unusually hot weather & other unexpected issues that came up! Thanks again!
It was wonderful to have Ginny come daily in the morning and feed my two cats. One of my cats is way more social than the other, and she was able to get the shy one out and eating while she was there and also pet him. I knew my cats were in compassionate, caring and competent hands.

We had Chelsea over again to watch our 4 year old tuxedo cat. Her communication is always so great & she sends the sweetest photos. Also, my cat is actually obsessed with her. So thankful she makes going away that much easier! We will keep asking her back so long as she will have us!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
