About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog (does not live with me). I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!
“Lara was absolutely the best at taking care of our pup Perseus. He got along well with her, she knew how to make him comfortable in a new place, and she sent pictures and videos during the day care.”

“Alexandra was OUTSTANDING. Excellent communication, on time, reliable, and so kind to my new rescue. I had several people decline taking my new 1 yr old rescue but Alexandra came to my rescue! I will for sure be using her service again. She was so patient and gentle. Her own pups look so happy, that tells you a lot. And my pup was so happy to see Alexandra and her pups daily for daycare. Thank you!!!”

“Chau was so helpful with our two dogs and very patient with our anxious one. She was so communicative and updated us with pictures multiple times a day. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Jennifer was great with Poppy! She sent alot of pictures and updates, and Poppy came home exhausted! Would definitely use Jennifer again if I’m in the San Diego area. :)”

“Everything went perfectly! Ashley was great with communication and kept me updated so I knew Luna was doing well. Luna seemed very comfortable and happy when I picked her up. I’d definitely book again!”

About: 👋 Hi, we’re Brian and Bea! We’ve had dogs all our lives and have been primary doggie caretakers since we were kids. We both work from home, so your dog gets company, potty breaks, praises and attention all day! 🐕 We live with Amaru, our AKC Canine Good Citizen-certified Shiba Inu. If you know Shibas, you know they're independent, picky about food, and selectively deaf when it suits them. Living with one has made us patient with dogs who are slow to warm up or particular about their routine. Amaru is also very social, so your pups get a playmate and nap buddy as well! ❤️ We believe the bond between people and dogs is one of the sweetest things in life. Their time with us is never long enough, so we want to help them enjoy every bit of it and give them the same unconditional love they give us. ✍️ We'll follow your feeding, medication, and walk schedule exactly as written, keep your house rules, and send photo updates. We treat every dog here the way we treat ours: like our baby ♥️🫶 👫 We’re a work-from-home couple with a social Shiba, so pet care naturally fits into our daily routine. We’re available for doggy daycare visits on weekdays and Saturdays after 9am. Our workday breaks already revolve around Amaru (a quick walk, a game of fetch, or a few minutes of trick practice) and your dog would easily fit into that same rhythm. Evenings are dedicated to dog time, with plenty of walks, play, training, and couch cuddles. We’re also happy to follow your dog’s usual schedule for meals, walks, medications, and bedtime whenever possible. Our goal is to keep their routine familiar and comfortable, so they feel right at home while they’re with us. 🏡 We live in a spacious apartment with a big private rooftop deck, and Petco Park is just about a block away for walks. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and in every room of our home, so they can settle in wherever they’re most comfortable. 🐶 We like to start with a meet-and-greet so both you and your dog can feel comfortable before the stay begins. Amaru is very social and has never shown aggression toward a dog or person. He’s also famously picky about food (😩) so visiting dogs don’t have to worry about him being possessive over food. That said, we still feed dogs separately as a standard precaution and never leave visiting dogs unsupervised together. 📸 Our camera roll is already full of Amaru photos, so sending you regular pictures and updates of your dog throughout the day comes naturally. 🚨We’ll also collect your vet’s information and an emergency contact before the stay, and we’ll reach out right away if we notice anything unusual. Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first☝🏻!

“Amazing! Worked with me in a pinch and kept her overnight last minute for me. Sent me updates and pictures of honey. She did well with the other dog she was keeping too. Will definitely be booking again!”

“Melissa was very professional and took excellent care of Babe. She took her for walks and made sure she had ample opportunities to use the restroom. Her priority was that our baby was comfortable and well taken care of, thank you!”

About: Howdy! I've been on rover for a few years now. I briefly stopped in 2023 and then in 2024 I moved down to SD. Now that my pooch and I are settled in we are ready to dog sit again! Throughout my time with Rover I developed a number of regular folks that trusted their dogs with me and my pooch. I have one dog, Butler. He's 8 and is a loving and patient dalmatian. And as you can see in the photos uploaded he definitely enjoys the dog company 🐾 See below for my work schedule :) I work in the office two days a week and work from home the other 3. On the work days in the office I am gone the whole time so I ask that your pooch is well acclimated to being able to be left alone for that extended period of time I live in an apartment right now that has plenty of parks around it so to make sure the dogs get exercise we can either go on long walks at least twice a day or go to the nearby parks
“Thank you, Leah, for giving Bodhi the space & time he needs in order to properly warm up to new humans and dogs. He’s had a rough life until now, but w/your help, he’s starting to be more trusting and willing to leave me. Thank you again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all sizes and ages, including special needs (specifically deaf dogs). Let me know how to best care for your pup. I work from home and run the occasional errand. My schedule is flexible for outings and walks. I’m an active person who loves to get outside. Whether your baby wants to get their steps in or just sniff and people watch, we can make it work. Dogs allowed on furniture and free roam while I’m in a brief errand through I expect to be home most of the time. If your dog is not at risk of eating things they shouldn’t then we are good on that front. I have experience with leash reactive dogs on walks so let me know if any temperament considerations I should be aware of.
About: Hi there! I’m an experienced Rover sitter with several years of professional animal care experience and many happy repeat clients. Caring for animals isn’t just a job for me, it’s something I genuinely love! Whether your pet is staying in my home or I’m caring for them during a drop-in visit, they’ll be treated like one of my own ❤️ What I Offer: 🏡 Dog Boarding: A safe, loving home where your pup can relax, play, and enjoy plenty of one-on-one attention. 🐾 Doggy Day Care: A fun, structured environment for dogs who need companionship and care while you’re away. 🏠 Drop-In Visits: Reliable visits for feeding, potty breaks, medications, playtime, and lots of love. My Experience: 🐱 6 Years of Cat Care: I have extensive experience caring for cats of all ages and personalities. 🐬 5 Years as a Dolphin Trainer: I worked as a dolphin trainer, including work connected with the U.S. Navy. This experience gave me a strong understanding of animal behavior, communication, positive reinforcement, and safety. 🏥 2 Years in a Veterinary Office: My time in a veterinary clinic gave me hands-on experience with medications, animal health, recognizing signs of illness, and handling pets with patience and confidence. 🐶 Dog Mom: I also have a friendly young dog who loves having a playmate. I understand how important routine, exercise, and individualized care are for every dog. My Home: To provide the best experience possible, I only accept one guest dog at a time. This allows me to give your dog plenty of attention while creating a calm, low-stress environment. For everyone’s safety and comfort, guest dogs should: ✔️ Be friendly with other dogs ✔️ Be comfortable around a toddler (I have a 1.5 year old) ✔️ Be respectful of cats We do have one cat in the home, but she mostly keeps to herself and spends much of the day relaxing in another part of the house. She rarely interacts with the dogs, so most boarding pups hardly notice she’s there. A Quick Note for Pet Parents: I’m a stay-at-home mom to a toddler. During drop-in visits, there may occasionally be times when my son has to accompany me if my wife is working. He is calm around animals and can remain safely secured in his stroller if preferred. I always prioritize your pet’s comfort and safety and am happy to discuss what works best for you. Why Choose Me? ⭐ One guest dog at a time for personalized care ⭐ Professional animal training and veterinary experience ⭐ Calm, patient, and dependable ⭐ Frequent photo and video updates ⭐ A loving home where your pet will be treated like family I’d love to meet you and your furry family member and help make your time away completely worry-free! Being a stay-at-home mom means I’m home for much of the day, allowing me to provide plenty of supervision, attention, and companionship for boarding and daycare guests. My flexible schedule also makes it easy to accommodate drop-in visits throughout the day. I strive to create a calm, loving environment where every pet feels safe, comfortable, and right at home. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I carefully follow all care instructions, including feeding schedules, medications, potty breaks, crate routines, and any special requests to help keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. For boarding and daycare, I provide a calm, clean, and supervised home environment. I intentionally accept only one guest dog at a time so I can give each pup my full attention while creating a safe, low-stress experience for both my dog and yours. Guest dogs should be friendly with other dogs, comfortable around a toddler, and respectful of cats. My own dog is friendly but with that said, I believe it’s always important to have a backup plan. If the dogs ever need a break from one another or a situation calls for extra space, my dog is crate trained and happily goes into her crate on command. I’m also happy to crate your dog if that’s part of their normal routine or if it’s the safest option for everyone. My goal is to ensure every dog feels comfortable, secure, and well cared for throughout their stay. We also have one cat in the home, but she mostly keeps to herself and spends much of the day relaxing in another area of the house. She rarely interacts with the dogs, so most boarding pups hardly notice she’s there. For drop-in visits, I’ll make sure your pet has everything they need before I leave—from fresh food and water to playtime, cuddles, or quiet companionship. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I would my own and leave it just as I found it. Communication is important to me, so you can expect regular updates and plenty of photos while you’re away. My goal is for you to feel confident knowing your pet is safe, happy, and receiving the same love and care I’d give my own.

“Literally nobody better. He watched my precious dog winky and she had the best time. He sent lots of photos. Was so communicative. Really kind good energy and his dog Frieda was a sweetheart. If you’re looking for a sitter in San Diego literally nobody better.”

About: My dedication, love for animals, and hands-on experience as a volunteer vet tech set me apart, ensuring your pets receive the best care and attention. Working three days a week and missing my dogs at home, I’d love to take care of other pets, offering them the love and attention they deserve. I’m dedicated to taking care of pets the best I can, providing them with love, attention, and companionship to ensure they feel safe and happy.
“Wow! Dakota accepted us as a same day booking and was incredible. She was super communicative and made day care for Anza as easy as could be. We will definitely be using Dakota again on future trips to San Diego.”

We absolutely loved Vanessa! ❤️ This was my first time using Rover, and I’m so glad I did because it led us to her. She was so sweet, kind, and loving with Mana from the moment we met her. She kept me updated the entire time and sent me so many adorable pictures and videos. As a first-time Rover user, those updates meant so much and gave me peace of mind knowing he was happy and being well taken care of. Vanessa was amazing, and you can tell she genuinely loves animals. She took such great care of our little guy, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. We will definitely be booking with her again! 🐾❤️

While visiting the South Park area of San Diego we knew we would need “doggie day care” for our “separation anxiety” Doodle! I immediately went to ROVER and felt a connection to Lisa’s profile and never had a second thought. Not only was she in the neighborhood just blocks away, she was flexible, accommodating, communicative and an obvious lover of dogs. Plenty of walks, loads of cell phone updates and pics, and clear communication on every level. Lisa was able to rotate care from our house, to her house, and the Dog Park in between. She even made sure our pup made “friends” in the neighborhood! I encourage you to trust your pup to Lisa and feel assured that your fur-baby is in excellent hands! WOOF!

So glad we found this Canine Power Couple on our recent last minute trip to San Diego. Harry will not stay with just anyone, but this time he didn't even care. He was busy enjoying the beautiful, lush dog friendly back yard. Harry was the only dog that day, and they were nice enough to accept our last minute reservation anyway. Thanks so much for taking care of Harry. Highly recommended Dog Specialists.

Courtney is professional, kind and very easy to work with. She communicated well and took great care of my pup. Millie was so excited to see her and her dog the second day she came that she sprinted out of my car to her yard. I'd definitely recommend her and will be booking with her again in the future.

I reached out on short notice needing a sitter for my Belgian Malinois mix and honestly wasn’t sure who’d be up for it, mals are a lot. High energy, smart, need real exercise and mental stimulation or they get destructive/anxious. Derya didn’t just tolerate that, they clearly got it. My dog came home tired in the best way and completely unstressed, which tells me they were actually engaged and working with her energy instead of just containing it. She also sent photos and videos constantly throughout the visit, I always knew exactly what she was up to and could tell she was genuinely having a good time, not just being watched. That kind of communication is huge, especially when you’re booking last minute and a little anxious about leaving a dog like this with someone new. On top of that, they pulled it together on very short notice without missing a beat communicative, reliable, and clearly experienced with working breed temperaments, not just easy lapdogs. If you’ve got a dog that’s “too much” for the average sitter, this is who you want. Already planning to book again

Great safe place to leave my doxies for a day while I worked, they were taken out and treated like celebrities. Didn’t worry about them once and got lots of photos and updates, and brought them home tired and happy at the end of the day, will leave them there again!

Booked a mix of daycare and boarding during our short getaway to San Diego and Michael was super accommodating and flexible. He's easy to reach and communicate within the Rover message app. Michael provides so many updates with pictures that kept our mind at ease as we enjoyed ourselves in town. Our dog Evie enjoyed such a relaxing vacation herself full of cuddles, playtime and treats! Thank you so much Michael!

I loved Sandra! She loved my dog Chico as if he was her own, she sent me so many pictures and videos keeping me updated it was amazing. She took him on multiple walks and they kept each other company. He definitely enjoyed his entire day with Sandra. 10/10 Definitely Recommend!!!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your San Diego commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
