About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog (does not live with me). I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!

About: I am a home body and work from home every day of the week in an apartment. I used to own a well behaved gentle dog that I took out to the park and walk multiple times per day and I do the same for the animals I watch. I am a women in tech working from home and take my fluffy dog out for walks at least 3 times a day. I am passionate about dogs and I am very responsive. I have no dog besides any other dog I am watching. I am an attentive dog watcher of all types of dogs. I have a quiet calm apartment with large balcony and fake grass just in case. Dog park right next door, and I go on many walks around the block or in the dog pee area. Will be able to follow your instructions and feed as needed with water as specified. There’s a dog wash center in my apartment complex if needed for extra.

About: I work from home and have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets the attention they deserve throughout the day. I am starting on Rover so my dog will have some company too. I’ve cared for my own pup as well as dogs and cats for friends and family. I grew up with three dogs (2 labs and a terrier mix) and I know how to understand their behaviors when they need something. I don’t mind if they like to lay down furniture or like to sleep in a bed. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I take the time to make them feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll treat yours with the same care and attention I’d want for my own. You’ll also receive regular photo updates and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I work remotely full-time, which allows me to provide lots of attention for your dog throughout the day. Your pet won’t be left alone for long periods and will have plenty of opportunities for potty breaks, playtime, and walks. I currently offer boarding and am available on both weekdays and weekends, with availability on select holidays. I will keep your pet’s routine as close to home as possible so they feel comfortable during their stay. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in an apartment with plenty of room for your dog to relax and move around. There’s a small fully fenced dog park just a few minutes away for safe exercise and play. I also have a friendly 4-year-old dog who enjoys meeting other dogs. I will follow your pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, medications if needed, and crating upon request. The dogs are welcome on the furniture and bed if that’s what they’re used to at home. I’ll provide regular photo updates so you can feel reassured they’re happy and well cared for while you’re away.

Derya and her husband are such wonderful people. They are warm, kind, and so welcoming to both our pup and to us. We felt so at ease having our pup stay with them, as they sent so many photos, videos, and updates throughout the day about their activities and adventures. It gave us so much relief knowing that our pup was in such a safe and happy environment, and he was always so happy and content when we picked him up! We absolutely would love to have our little one over with them again, and would recommend to anyone!

About: Howdy! I've been on rover for a few years now. I briefly stopped in 2023 and then in 2024 I moved down to SD. Now that my pooch and I are settled in we are ready to dog sit again! Throughout my time with Rover I developed a number of regular folks that trusted their dogs with me and my pooch. I have one dog, Butler. He's 8 and is a loving and patient dalmatian. And as you can see in the photos uploaded he definitely enjoys the dog company 🐾 See below for my work schedule :) I work in the office two days a week and work from home the other 3. On the work days in the office I am gone the whole time so I ask that your pooch is well acclimated to being able to be left alone for that extended period of time I live in an apartment right now that has plenty of parks around it so to make sure the dogs get exercise we can either go on long walks at least twice a day or go to the nearby parks

Evan and Julia were absolutely wonderful with Lily, even on very short notice. From the moment we dropped her off, we felt completely at ease. They were kind, professional, and clearly true dog lovers. They kept us updated throughout the day with photos and thoughtful notes, which we really appreciated and which made a big difference for us while we were away. Lily was happy, well cared for, and clearly had a great time — including walks, playtime, and great company. Their home setup and experience with dogs really show, and it worked out perfectly for our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely trust them with Lily again. Highly recommend Evan and Julia!

About: I’m a stay-at-home and remote working (part time currently) tech marketing professional, here in the heart of San Diego. This affords me **95% full flexibility and availability** in times I can provide dog walks, drop in visits, and accept daycare/boarding drop offs and pick ups! :) I care for all animals as if they were my own, because I understand the anxiety of leaving our furbabies when work or travel calls. 🥹❤️‍🩹🥰 I’ve loved caring for my Bombay 🐕 the past 5 years, and have dog walked + dog sat + cat sat for friends countless times. I live in an apartment with my chill 7 year old pup, and we enjoy walks in the neighborhood and the grass park every 2-4 hours. (On hot days, we drive straight to the grass park to avoid the cement/asphalt). This life style, with a commitment of only a flexible few hours of computer work at home each day, gives me a chance to give plenty of attention to all fur babies in my care. Especially for pups who may feel more at home in a relaxed setting (instead of the chaos of bustling day care centers or confines of a boarding kennel), my apartment can be the *calm* oasis for them whether the need care just for the daytime or for extended overnight boarding. 🥰 For cat parents 🐈‍⬛🐈😻: I cared for a lovely cat for 1.5 years that I dearly miss. I cannot board cats in my apartment, but I can do daily or twice daily cat visits for clients along with the duties of liter box / feeding / play time. Please reach out to me so we can arrange care! >>> I can often accept SAME-DAY-care requests after 9 AM if my calendar shows me as available. (I understand sometimes things happen last minute and you need a trustworthy person to step in and care for your pet). Lisa did a great job entertaining my dog while I was at work over a weekend! My dog was walked, got to play fetch in Lisa’s backyard, and visited a neighbor with a friendly dog and big backyard as well. My dog had company at all times and wasn’t left alone, which is her dream!! I got picture updates throughout the day. I also appreciate that Lisa was available for me to drop my dog off before 7 am- Navy duty starts earlier than most sitters or commercial daycares are open!

I reached out on short notice needing a sitter for my Belgian Malinois mix and honestly wasn’t sure who’d be up for it, mals are a lot. High energy, smart, need real exercise and mental stimulation or they get destructive/anxious. Derya didn’t just tolerate that, they clearly got it. My dog came home tired in the best way and completely unstressed, which tells me they were actually engaged and working with her energy instead of just containing it. She also sent photos and videos constantly throughout the visit, I always knew exactly what she was up to and could tell she was genuinely having a good time, not just being watched. That kind of communication is huge, especially when you’re booking last minute and a little anxious about leaving a dog like this with someone new. On top of that, they pulled it together on very short notice without missing a beat communicative, reliable, and clearly experienced with working breed temperaments, not just easy lapdogs. If you’ve got a dog that’s “too much” for the average sitter, this is who you want. Already planning to book again

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - San Diego

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in San Diego on Rover is $38.85 per day (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 3,440 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across San Diego. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your San Diego commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 3,440 sitters in San Diego, 85% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
