“Derya K. was excellent with our Cockapoo who stayed at her house. She played with our pup, walked him, and gave him his dinner. She sent lots of photos and videos so I could see that he was having a good time.”

“keep our doggo Pancakes active and happy with walks and runs. Always feel confident with Brannon taking care of my bug Doberman. Highly recommend if you’re ever in the San Diego downtown area!”

“Jennifer was great with Poppy! She sent alot of pictures and updates, and Poppy came home exhausted! Would definitely use Jennifer again if I’m in the San Diego area. :)”

About: Hi, I’m Nathalia! I’m a lifelong dog lover with over 15 years of experience caring for pups of all ages, sizes, and personalities. As a proud dog mom to two wonderful dogs of my own, I know how important it is to feel confident and at ease when leaving your furry family member in someone else’s care. I aim to adore and care for your pet as much as you do! Caring for dogs is already a big part of my everyday life. I currently have a wide open schedule and available Monday through Sundays for boarding for daycare. I have a home that is fully pet proof (secure cabinets, secure trash can, and fenced yard). I can crate your dog if needed as well.
About: I believe that a happy dog in the home is essential and a precursor to a happy life overall, and I want to bring the same attentiveness and care that I share with my own pup to any pets I have the privilege of taking care of through my services on Rover. When we meet the basic needs of our companions throughout the day, we have more freedom to bond with them, and them with us, and that’s where I come in! I want to help you meet your home pet care needs and goals so you can feel confident that when you come home after a busy day, you are coming home to a dog or a cat that is happy and well taken care of. I want to ensure that your pet’s routines stay intact, that they get plenty of exercise when needed, that they stay safe, and it is a joy to me to provide that service! I’m home full time so your dog gets company, play, and potty breaks woven throughout my day. I keep a calm, structured environment and adjust to each dog’s needs. I can provide training reinforcement, and plenty of affection! I follow your instructions closely, keep your pet’s routine intact, send regular photo updates, and treat your home the way I’d want someone to treat mine. If I’m boarding your pup, my priority is that they’re safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. On walks, I match the pace to your dog and I stay attentive to any reactivity triggers and adjust our route or distance as needed.
“Twisha was amazing! Very responsive, helpful, and kind. She took great care of my dog. Her home was clean and spacious. I would definitely work with Twisha again. Thank you!”

“Gabrielle was amazing! Obie was thrilled to hang with her for the day and she was great at keeping us in the loop with happy pup pics. She went above and beyond caring for Obie while he was having some digestive issues. Thank you!”

“Incredible care! I was traveling to town for school and she was not only available at the last minute, but very responsive and communicative. Very good with my girl Nala. And very reliable. Will absolutely book again!”

“Would recommend Samantha to anyone! Does an amazing job with my mini dachshund puppy, sends frequent pictures and updates throughout the day and I know my pup is in good hands 💕”

About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog (does not live with me). I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!
About: A lifelong dog lover with years of experience, especially caring for senior pups. While I specialize in small dogs, I also enjoy looking after cats and medium breeds. Since I work from home, I have a flexible schedule and can stick closely to your pet’s normal routine. I primarily care for small-breed dogs and always take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, secure, and loved. I provide a calm, clean, and safe environment where your pet will receive plenty of attention and care by keeping my home clutter free and boarding one pet at a time.
“I would absolutely recommend Sandra to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. She truly treated Pluto like her own dog, and I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“Had a last minute trip and Melanie was able to accommodate us. She was very informative, sent pictures and let us know how she was doing. I would love to use Melanie again when we are in town.”

About: Your pet is family and I treat them that way. I've spent 10+ years caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and needs, including seniors, special needs pups, and pets requiring oral or injected medication. I take that responsibility seriously and follow your routines to the letter. I'm based in San Diego and love exploring everything this city has to offer like beach walks, neighborhood trails, and Balboa Park, and your dog gets to come along for all of it. Since I have no pets of my own, your animal gets my complete, undivided attention from the moment they arrive. Whether your pup needs extra patience, medical care, or just someone who will love them like you do, I've got them covered! Pet care is a central part of my daily routine, not an afterthought. I have dedicated availability throughout the week and structure my days around making sure every animal in my care gets consistent attention, timely walks, and plenty of love. I am not juggling a busy office schedule or rushing home after a long commute. When your pet is with me, they are my priority and my day is built around them. I follow your instructions exactly. Please send over your pet's routine, any medical needs, feeding schedule, and quirks and I will stick to it. I am experienced with medication administration both oral and injected, and comfortable with dogs who need extra care or patience. Your peace of mind matters as much as your pet's happiness.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Hillcrest
Booked a mix of daycare and boarding during our short getaway to San Diego and Michael was super accommodating and flexible. He's easy to reach and communicate within the Rover message app. Michael provides so many updates with pictures that kept our mind at ease as we enjoyed ourselves in town. Our dog Evie enjoyed such a relaxing vacation herself full of cuddles, playtime and treats! Thank you so much Michael!

I loved Sandra! She loved my dog Chico as if he was her own, she sent me so many pictures and videos keeping me updated it was amazing. She took him on multiple walks and they kept each other company. He definitely enjoyed his entire day with Sandra. 10/10 Definitely Recommend!!!

Brannon took excellent care of our dog Kupo for several long days while we attended Comic-Con, and we'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for someone to take care of their pup! He was incredibly flexible with pick-up and drop-off times, extremely responsive every time we reached out, provided updates throughout the day, and Kupo always came back to us tired out at the end of the day from lots of walks. Thanks Brannon!

Erin was great! Our dog, was immediately comfortable with her. Erin followed all of our instructions and her questions demonstrated that she was experienced caring for a variety of dogs and truly wanted to give the best possible care. She was flexible about pick up/drop off times and sent us pictures and updates throughout our fur baby's daycare time. Erin will be our first choice the next time we need a dog sitter in San Diego!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hillcrest commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
