“Derya and her husband are such wonderful people. They are warm, kind, and so welcoming to both our pup and to us. We felt so at ease having our pup stay with them, as they sent so many photos, videos, and updates throughout the day about their activities and adventures. It gave us so much relief knowing that our pup was in such a safe and happy environment, and he was always so happy and content when we picked him up! We absolutely would love to have our little one over with them again, and would recommend to anyone!”

“I felt confident and comfortable leaving my senior dog, Mavis with Brannon! He was very attentive and gentle with her. Super quick communication too! I would absolutely recommend his services to other dog owners.”

“Gaby was great with my dog Moose! She is super flexible with schedules and goes out of her way to be accommodating. Such a fun person and my dog loves her! Loved the picture/video updates she sent throughout the day. Would highly recommend!”

“Jennifer was great with Poppy! She sent alot of pictures and updates, and Poppy came home exhausted! Would definitely use Jennifer again if I’m in the San Diego area. :)”

About: I’ve been a dog person for as long as I can remember. I grew up with dogs starting when I was 10, and caring for them has always been a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and ages, from playful puppies to sweet seniors. I’ve taken care of friends’ dogs, helped with foster dogs, and volunteered at a dog rescue in Tijuana. Every dog has their own personality and routine, and I really enjoy getting to know them and making sure they feel comfortable, happy, and cared for while they’re with me. Dog daycare fits naturally into my daily routine because I work remotely and offer full-day care in my home. Your dog will have my attention throughout the day, with plenty of time for walks, potty breaks, play, cuddles, and relaxation. I’m happy to follow your dog’s normal routine, whether they’re a puppy who needs more attention and activity or a senior who prefers a slower, more relaxed day. I want every dog staying with me to feel like they are spending the day in a second home. I provide a comfortable, calm, and welcoming environment where they can relax, play, and get plenty of attention throughout the day. Before their stay, I’ll make sure I understand their routine, personality, feeding schedule, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable. Your dog’s safety and happiness are my priority, and I’ll care for them with the same patience and affection I would want for my own dog.

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life, from playful puppies to sweet senior dogs, and understand that every dog has their own routine, personality, and needs. My wife and I currently share our home with Callie, our friendly 8-year-old terrier mix who loves meeting and playing with other pups. We also cared for our beloved Daisy for 17 wonderful years. We treat every dog like family—with patience, affection, attention, and plenty of fun. I work from home, so your dog will have company and supervision for most of the day. I typically take dogs for a daily lunchtime walk and can provide frequent backyard play and potty breaks. A few times each week, we visit local dog parks or dog-friendly beaches for dogs who enjoy those outings. If your dog prefers quieter activities, we’re equally happy taking an extra walk or enjoying relaxed playtime at home. Our one-story home has a large, securely fenced backyard where dogs can safely play and enjoy fresh air. We have plenty of cozy dog beds and create a comfortable, supervised environment indoors and out. There is one flight of stairs at the entrance, but everything inside is on one level. We take time to follow each dog’s feeding, medication, exercise, and comfort routines closely. For everyone’s safety, we can only care for dogs who are not aggressive.
“Incredible care! I was traveling to town for school and she was not only available at the last minute, but very responsive and communicative. Very good with my girl Nala. And very reliable. Will absolutely book again!”

About: My name is Anna! I am a dog lover, owner and walking aficionado. I have spent the majority of my life both around and taking care of animals - from family and friends to my very own, dogs become instant family to me. I enjoy that happy dog smile of outside freedom and will make sure your pup is getting the fresh air, exercise and love they deserve! I'm experienced and confident with dogs of all breeds for games of fetch, long walks to match their energy (fast-paced, mellow, etc.,) administering medicine, to the classic belly scratch they crave. I look forward to meeting your pup and providing a wonderful experience :) I work remotely and have flexibility for all check-ins, neighborhood walks, potty breaks, administering medicine, etc. I am available mornings, midday and evenings to support your dog's needs. I offer the highest level of respect for your home and will ensure your dog picked up after, mail is brought in, if plants need watered, etc.
About: Your pet is family and I treat them that way. I've spent 10+ years caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and needs, including seniors, special needs pups, and pets requiring oral or injected medication. I take that responsibility seriously and follow your routines to the letter. I'm based in San Diego and love exploring everything this city has to offer like beach walks, neighborhood trails, and Balboa Park, and your dog gets to come along for all of it. Since I have no pets of my own, your animal gets my complete, undivided attention from the moment they arrive. Whether your pup needs extra patience, medical care, or just someone who will love them like you do, I've got them covered! A quick note: I work from home, so dogs who are generally calm tend to be the best fit. If your pup tends to bark a lot at noises, visitors, or being left alone, it might not be the smoothest match. Pet care is a central part of my daily routine, not an afterthought. I have dedicated availability throughout the week and structure my days around making sure every animal in my care gets consistent attention, timely walks, and plenty of love. I am not juggling a busy office schedule or rushing home after a long commute. When your pet is with me, they are my priority and my day is built around them. I follow your instructions exactly. Please send over your pet's routine, any medical needs, feeding schedule, and quirks and I will stick to it. I am experienced with medication administration both oral and injected, and comfortable with dogs who need extra care or patience. Your peace of mind matters as much as your pet's happiness.

“avery was so wonderful! We needed a dog sitter last minute and anvery and her partner saved us! avery was great with communication, flexible, and I could tell my dogs were enjoying there time there with the pictures she sent 🥹”

“Janet is such a wonderful dog sitter! She is experienced with small dogs and small dog care (which is not always easy to find). My small young playful Pomeranian loved her and I could tell she felt at home and comfortable in Janet’s home. She is a great communicator, provided picture updates, updated the app details, and was on point with my dog’s care. The surrounding area around her apt is dog friendly and safe. I recommend her and look forward to using her services again.”

“Had a last minute trip and Melanie was able to accommodate us. She was very informative, sent pictures and let us know how she was doing. I would love to use Melanie again when we are in town.”

Because I’m home full‑time, your pup gets consistent supervision, affection, and a steady routine that keeps them happy and relaxed. Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Hillcrest
Hernan was the best! He was able to take my dogs within an hour of booking with him! He took such good care of them, they even got bandanas from a dog event he took them to! He was so kind and seems like he has a great setup for them in his apartment with a great patio!!! Will definitely be using him again! Thank you!

Tatiana did an amazing job with my dog! My dog has separation anxiety but Tatiana went above and beyond in making sure my dog was comfortable and happy during her stay. She updated me throughout the day and sent lots of pictures. You can really tell how much she loves animals and I would definitely book her again.

Beatrice and Brian were so kind meeting us and giving us updates on Lady. They even sent us away with some treats. Their location is perfect if you're trying to catch a Padres game or at a convention nearby. I'll definitely reach out to them again if I'm in downtown SD!

Sandra was beyond amazing and by far the best day sitter experience we’ve ever had on Rover. Gizmo was extremely well taken care of and loved while he was in her care, and she sent the cutest updates and pictures throughout the day. Cannot recommend her enough!

Raquel and her partner are amazing and incredibly professional! We needed someone to watch our recently adopted rescue for a few hours each day while we were in town doing touristy things and attending concerts. Their communication was excellent, and their flexibility with our schedule—especially some of our later pickups—was very much appreciated. This was my first time using Rover, so I was a little nervous about leaving our sweet girl with someone we didn’t know. But after the meet and greet, I had zero worries and knew Patsy would be in great hands. I was able to thoroughly enjoy our outings without stressing about how she was doing. Patsy was excited to be dropped off and always came home a happy girl! She got plenty of potty breaks, and Raquel adapted to all of Patsy’s little quirks with ease. It was clear that Patsy felt comfortable and well cared for. We’re so glad we found Raquel and will absolutely book with her again whenever we’re in the area! I highly recommend her and her partner to anyone looking for caring, trustworthy, and professional sitters.

We absolutely loved Vanessa! ❤️ This was my first time using Rover, and I’m so glad I did because it led us to her. She was so sweet, kind, and loving with Mana from the moment we met her. She kept me updated the entire time and sent me so many adorable pictures and videos. As a first-time Rover user, those updates meant so much and gave me peace of mind knowing he was happy and being well taken care of. Vanessa was amazing, and you can tell she genuinely loves animals. She took such great care of our little guy, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. We will definitely be booking with her again! 🐾❤️

While visiting the South Park area of San Diego we knew we would need “doggie day care” for our “separation anxiety” Doodle! I immediately went to ROVER and felt a connection to Lisa’s profile and never had a second thought. Not only was she in the neighborhood just blocks away, she was flexible, accommodating, communicative and an obvious lover of dogs. Plenty of walks, loads of cell phone updates and pics, and clear communication on every level. Lisa was able to rotate care from our house, to her house, and the Dog Park in between. She even made sure our pup made “friends” in the neighborhood! I encourage you to trust your pup to Lisa and feel assured that your fur-baby is in excellent hands! WOOF!

I can’t say enough great things!!! Hollyanne and Donovan came through for me in a last minute booking. Hollyanne is so friendly and sweet! I got the cutest picture updates of Summit having the BEST day ever. At pickup I got a very happy and sleepy puppy. I will recommend them to everyone I know and will definitely book with them again!

Courtney is professional, kind and very easy to work with. She communicated well and took great care of my pup. Millie was so excited to see her and her dog the second day she came that she sprinted out of my car to her yard. I'd definitely recommend her and will be booking with her again in the future.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
