“Kelly took great care of my cat and house while we were away for a week. Mojito clearly warmed up to her quickly. We would love to utilize her services again in the future.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for neighbors, friends, and families for over 10 years. I love all animals and I’m happy to help! I’m in the Navy, but am currently in school as I transition to a new job, so am able to walk or sit all animals. I live in an extremely walkable and friendly neighborhood with a flexible schedule. I’ll also drive to pick up and walk them in your neighborhood.

“Patricia house-sat for us this past weekend and did a great job! Our dog is very nervous when we leave, and she communicated with us regularly about how Sadie was doing, sent us pictures, and left the house spotless. Highly recommend!”

“Our dogs who’s very nervous to be left with a new hooman was very comfortable and happy with Arlett. We were at ease on our weekend trip since we know we left our babies in good hands and we get constant photo updates too 🩷”

“Dwayne took good care of my 50 pound pittie. He was not phased by his various quirks and kept in touch with me while I was away. When he wasn't sure about the meaning of a minor behavior change, he checked in with me to make sure it was nothing to be concerned about. When I returned, my home was at least as clean and tidy as it was when I left. I will happily hire Dwayne again.”

“Tianna was an absolutely incredible house sitter!! She stayed with our dogs over the weekend and took amazing care of them and our home. She was very responsive and clearly loves spending time with animals! I felt extremely comfortable knowing our dogs were constantly on walks, at the dog park, or participating in snuggles. I would recommend Tianna to anyone and will absolutely be reaching out again for future pet care needs!!! :)”

“Brendan was wonderful. Our dogs fell in love with him right away and it was clear they had a great time. Brendan was communicative and gave us great photos. Thanks again!”

“Jarrod was able to help us out with very little notice and was great with our boys! He went above and beyond, taking them on multiple little walks and getting a few photos for us. Would recommend to anyone!”

“Grace was communicative and super friendly! She sent me regular updates which I greatly appreciated. I came back from my trip to a happy healthy dog which. She left the space very clean. I would recommend Grace and plan to book again :)”
“Lauren was great watching my senior baby girl. She followed instructions and was easy to reach the whole time we were gone. She maintained our home tidy, just the way we left it. She even washed the sheets prior to leaving. I’ll definitely recommend her as a sitter!”

“Eli was amazing! I am so lucky to have found him. He stayed at my home with my two pitties and took such great care of them. He was communicative, reliable, and sent detailed updates and lots of pics which I enjoyed :) my home was left in great shape. Will definitely continue to use him in the future!”

“Shelby sat at our home with our dogs. They warmed up quickly to her and we're very happy she sat for us. She left our home tidy, and we will book her again for sure in the future.”

“Mara's experience as a trainer and gentle nature has been a treat for Jack and I. We're new to house sitting and while Jack was well cared for during her stay, her updates and feedback helped us to orient > gain confidence in the process. She left no trace in my home and I was greeted by a widely smiling pooch :)”

“Debbie was amazing with Blue. She even helped him get back to walking again after his accident! Was on time everyday and ready to be that great sitter for Blue ! She will be back for sure with my baby Blue for more adventures !”

“Brittany was absolutely incredible with our pets and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She was kind, friendly, attentive, and clearly cared for them like they were her own. She sent tons of updates and pictures throughout our trip, which honestly made such a difference and let us fully relax knowing everyone was happy and cared for. It was obvious she paid close attention to each pet and their needs. :) We’re so grateful for her and would trust her again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend!”

“Anthony was outstanding. He made sure to send us updates frequently and made our pets feel very loved. We returned home to everything in order and the pets happy.”

“Hollyanne and Donovan are the absolute best! They were so thorough, communicative, and reassuring, and took such good care of our pup while we were away! We even had a mudslide at our house during the trip and Donovan went above and beyond to clean it up. Look no further than these two :)”

“Thank you so much, Evelyn for taking such good care of Ella! For anyone interested in having Evelyn as your dog sitter, I highly recommend her. My dog has some special needs, including epilepsy, and they can be challenging for even the most expert dog parents/sitters. My dog's neurological behaviors require patience and Evelyn has been so understanding of the complexities and always tried to communicate with me to try to resolve any stress/anxiety Ella was experiencing during my time away. I don't get to travel very often for that reason, so knowing Evelyn is willing to stay in-home and asks great questions to provide the best pet care possible makes traveling a lot easier to relax and trust that everything is under control. We appreciate your efforts, Evelyn!”

The absolute best dog sitter around! Communicative, flexible, and makes sure the pups are well taken care of (while also having fun)! Thank you so much for taking such great care of Bourbon & Clementine! It makes me at ease to know they are in good hands every time :)

Joanna did a fantastic job with my recovering dog while I was out of town a few days. She was patient, professional, followed instructions mindfully, and communicated consistently. I did not worry while I was out of town and came home to a happy, content dog. I’ll definitely entrust my pup in Joanna’s care in the future and highly recommend her!

Brianna stayed with my pack for 2 nights and did a fantastic job. She was responsible for giving my epileptic dog his medications and also one of my cats his antibiotic, which is no easy feat. Brianna was communicative and everyone seemed very happy when I got home. I would highly recommend her to others as she is reliable, attentive, and definitely can follow instructions on complex animals.

Eli was amazing! I am so lucky to have found him. He stayed at my home with my two pitties and took such great care of them. He was communicative, reliable, and sent detailed updates and lots of pics which I enjoyed :) my home was left in great shape. Will definitely continue to use him in the future!

Marcella was wonderful with my dog! She stayed at my house and took such great care of him. She was very responsive to my messages, kept me updated throughout my time away, and sent plenty of photos so I always knew how he was doing. I really appreciated how communicative and reliable she was, and I felt completely comfortable knowing my dog was in good hands. I would definitely recommend Marcella and would happily have her watch my dog again!

Vanessa was great! This was an initial meeting / dog sitting to see how Charlie would do in a possible longer term situation with dog sitting. She can be very hesitant with people at first so it was great to see her warm up to Vanessa so quickly! I really appreciated getting photo updates throughout the day!

Chandler impressed us from the start. She was confident, capable, and it was immediately clear she knew exactly what she was doing, especially when it came to handling our 92-lb American Bulldog/Mastiff mix, Olive. Out of all the sitters we’ve had through Rover over the years, Chandler was one of the few people I immediately felt I could completely trust with both our dog and our home. At our meet and greet, she got down on both knees to pet and snuggle Olive, and you could tell right away that she’s a true animal lover. She was completely comfortable with Olive’s size, knew exactly how to put on her prong collar without any help, and paid close attention as I walked her through my admittedly very long Google Doc of instructions! Chandler and her boyfriend, Nitai, took such great care of Olive while we were away. Olive managed to mess up a couple things around the house while they were watching her - because she is a 92-lb doofus - and they actually fixed them for us. We also came home to an incredibly clean house, which was such a wonderful surprise after traveling. It is such a breath of fresh air to find someone you feel completely comfortable trusting with your dog and your home. We’re so grateful to Chandler and Nitai and would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially those with larger dogs!

The average cost for House Sitting in Hillcrest on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillcrest walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillcrest maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillcrest choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hillcrest. On Rover:

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
