Every dog loves enthusiastic playmates. Phillip fits the description. He is consistently professional, friendly, helpful and always right on time. I need to feel that my older dog is safe when going out walking in our neighborhood, the city. Phillip "brings it", when he comes to see Colette...she feels at home with him and Phillip leaves the pictures to prove it. :-).

Tina has been an excellent walker for my older dog, Charlotte. I am chronically ill and housebound right now. I have my dog walked 3x a day. Sometimes walkers can’t cover their walks or cancel last minute. Tina has subbed in for almost all of the walks I’ve offered her outright. She has shown up for every last minute walk for which I needed coverage. My dog is a special needs dog, and Tina has been very good at following my requests on how my dog’s walk needs to be limited or otherwise. I would definitely recommend her!

About: Working from home in an apartment every day, I am in need of a canine coworker to take regular lunch walks and gossip about work drama. But really; I grew up with dogs, had my first job at a vet clinic at age 16 (the reality of which crushed my dreams of becoming a veterinarian), and daydream about pet sitting my family’s albino, lopsided, senior doggo who sadly lives a 6 hour drive away (seen in photos). Taking your dog on a sunshine walk through the park (and even better, having them stay the night!) would make me the most joyous girl in the neighborhood. I’m happy to help! I work remotely with fairly flexible hours. My work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 9AM-5PM; but I can easily take time to walk your dog around the block. Easy peasy. Seeing as I am home the majority of the week, having your dog stay at my apartment would be a breeze for both of us as I am able to attend to your pup’s frequent needs. I am responsible, reliable, and communicative. I commit to my responsibilities and am dependable. I would care for your pet with attention, love, and care. While my apartment is small, I also need frequent outdoor breaks and would be easily able to incorporate your dog's outdoor needs with my own. My home is up a flight of stairs so your dog would need to be able to go up and down stairs safely. I also live with my boyfriend and so your dog has to be comfortable around men.

About: I have owned and cared for both dogs and cats, have been around animals all my life, and would love to care for all types of pets! I have a lot of flexibility these days (post-grad life), so I’m willing and able to handle nearly all pet-care needs! I’m currently enjoying the post-grad school life, and have a lot of free time and flexibility to care for your animals. I also have a car, so am very mobile! I am more than happy to care for your pets in their home, and will ensure that they feel comfortable and maintain what they are used to/their routines.

About: Back in the Netherlands, I grew up surrounded by animals and have always loved caring for them. My family had a flat-coated retriever, a golden retriever, two cats, a rabbit, and fish, so being around pets has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m comfortable with both dogs and cats, and I have experience helping train dogs and caring for pets with different personalities and needs. I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means going for a walk, playing, feeding, or simply keeping them company. Since moving to San Diego, I really miss having animals around, which is why Rover feels like such a great fit for me. I would love to give your pet the same care, attention, and affection I would give my own. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets plenty of time, attention, and care throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, playtime, feeding, and keeping pets company depending on their routine and needs. I understand that every pet has their own schedule, so I’m happy to follow your instructions closely, whether that means specific walk times, feeding routines, medication reminders, or extra cuddles and attention. I always want pets to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. In a client’s home, I will follow your instructions carefully and respect your space, your pet’s routine, and any house rules. I’ll make sure doors, gates, leashes, food, water, and any special care instructions are handled responsibly. I know how important trust is when someone cares for your pet, so I will treat your pet with patience, kindness, and attention. I’m also happy to send updates and photos so you know your pet is doing well while you’re away.

About: My family has always had dogs, and sometimes cats. Every once in a blue moon my mom would get a bird, too. I have grown up in a farm town in WA state that has given me tons of experience. Outside of that, I have also worked for Petsense (tractor supplies sister store) and have learned a lot about pet food, pet medicine, and so on! I have also fostered a few dogs back home in WA. Ford, the husky, was my favorite boy even though he was always looking to escape! I cannot board any animals!!! I am currently free every day! As I am looking for a main job, and it's been a little rough out here. So, with that, as of now I am completely free to help out where need be! I will play fetch for hours, or walk and get to know the neighborhood since I just moved here. I can give all the head scratches to them until they are so annoyed with me. Or, I could just sit there with them if they just want to hang out. I have had a few senior dog who wanted to be included to just let them be, and a very energetic husky-shepherd mix who has the energy of the sun that I raised on my own from 8wks old!

About: I have taken care of all kinds of dogs and cats since i was an early teen. I’ve trained and kept them healthy and happy. Currently i have two cats and a husky that are very well behaved, non-reactive and happy. I’m a recent uni graduate who loves animals. I love taking care of them and staying active. I’m very easygoing and kind. I put a lot of effort into everything i do. I have a fenced backyard with plenty of space for dogs to walk around while inside. The house is very pet safe, no choking hazards around. I also live in a safe neighborhood that is perfect for walks, with a couple of parks around for dogs to get their sniffing and running done.

  • 92% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
