About: I am a dog-lover with my whole life of experience in caring for dogs! I have had them in all shapes and sizes - my first two dogs being big German Shepherds to my last dog which was a little Maltipoo, and a few in between. I have potty trained quite a few dogs in my life, as well as helped them through their senior years. Most important of all, I will love your pets like they're my own children! I only accept one doggie family at a time, so your dog(s) will be the only ones here for boarding and doggie day care. I'm currently working part time from home so I have plenty of availability to take your pup outside for potty breaks or walks and give them attention throughout the day. I have a safe, fenced yard with plenty of room for sniffing and sunshine. I also have senior dog care items like a step to get on the couch. I have a long gate that can be made into a pen, and a cage for a small dog, if requested. Pets are family here - I have always allowed my own pets on the couch or bed and will do the same for yours unless you prefer otherwise.

About: I have been taking care of dogs and cats around the neighborhood for years. When our neighbors go on trips, they leave their pets in my care. In the past, I've gone to the beach, taken long walks, and helped with basic training. I am excited to meet all my new furry friends :) I am free any time, any day! 😁 I are happy to take care of your pet at any time. Your pet will be the center of my attention. I live in a fenced yard with plenty of space for your furry friends to run around. My home is quiet, and there's always someone around to be with your pet. I live in a safe, secure home, with lots of inside space to chill out.

From the moment I met Alanna and her family I felt immediate comforting and nurturing energy from her and her family. The most recent visit I mentioned to Alanna that midnight and I had a very stressful week and that she needed a lot of love as I had failed her to keep her in a calm environment. The following morning she called me to inform me that she noticed worms in Midnight's stool. I was extremely worried and ashamed about the situation. I truly appreciate her gentle approach to the emergency. It's moments like this that are truly valuable. Thank you Alanna ? I know that Midnight is in outstanding and in the most caring hands with you and your family. ?

About: Hi, I'm Luke! I live with my partner Elaheh, and we love dogs. Our beloved dog Lily recently crossed over the rainbow bridge, and we wanted to do Rover to share our love with other fur babies. I work from home full-time, which means your dog won't spend the day alone waiting for attention. They get real company, regular potty breaks, and plenty of snuggles throughout the day. They can be inside or outside as much as they (and you) would like, as well as go on walks or play catch. When Elaheh gets home from work, she loves to join us on an evening walk and snuggle up with your dog on our couch. We live in a quiet neighborhood in La Mesa with a fenced yard, so there's space to run, fetch, or just soak up the sun. We are comfortable with dogs that need extra exercise, medication, or just a calm, low-key day on the couch. Your dog is the priority here, and we will treat them like they are. Highlights: • Large, fenced in yard • Human companions in the home nearly all day • Dedicated couch space under the window that looks out on our street for people watching • "Glacier Springs" purified drinking water, free upon request I have a flexible WFH job so I'll have plenty of time for potty breaks, walks, and couch hangs. I am available for boarding/dog sitting beyond just weekends. Since I am home most of the time, your dog can enjoy our back yard all day. I have a fenced-in yard for safe play time and live in a quiet neighborhood for longer walks. I provide photos and updates throughout the day (half my camera roll are puppy pics, lets be honest) and am quick to respond to messages.

About: I’ve had dogs since I was 6, I’ve taken care of them since I was 10, they’re really part of the family and I know the care and love they deserve, I’d be honored to be there for your fur babies when you need them taken care of by someone you can trust. I’m especially experienced with large dogs, I grew up with a Great Dane. I’m off for the summer so I have a generally open schedule until mid August, just let me know when you need me and we can make it work. I make it a point to leave any home I stay at to dog sit nicer than it was when I arrived, so you can be rest assured that your home will be taken care of just as well as your furry family.

About: I recently moved to the United States from another country and am currently studying English. Animals have always been a big part of my life. I’ve had both dogs and cats and truly understand how much they mean to their families. Back home, I have a senior Yorkshire Terrier who is 17 years old and still in good shape and decent health for her age. Caring for her has given me a lot of experience with senior dogs, patience, and gentle attention. I know how important routine, comfort, and love are. Being away from my own dog makes caring for other pets even more special to me. I treat every animal as if they were my own. I'm retired and studying part-time, so I have a very flexible schedule and lots of time to spend walking, playing, and giving pets attention they deserve. I live in an apartment with a secure building and quite environment. My home is calm, clean, and safe. I ensure regular walks, playtime, and supervision so pets stay comfortable and well cared for.

I am available Every day of the week depending o. Your schedule. I am quite flexible in meetings ng your needs. Please feel free to read my reviews. I did have a corgi Otis who passed away at 12 years . My beautiful Blue Merrill Aussie , my best friend Dannyboy Passed away a year after Otis , Dannyboy and Otis were inseparable. I love dogs More than you know! I am very fortunate to be able to care for your fur baby full time. I have a full fenced yard and a nice neighborhood for daily walks . I only take one dog at a time unless they know each other or both have mellow temperament. I also welcome Senior Dogs ! to walk . I have lost both my dogs a year apart 6 years ago. They both were amazing dogs and taught me a lot. ! I will love your pup just like my own. ♥️ I walk, talk, and engage with the pups ! I tend to play classical music which relaxes the dogs . When they show interest in the basket full of toys . We play ! My yard is a good size and well fenced . During the day I leave the slider open and they are free to roam the yard or lay in the Sun should they choose. ! I’m always around the pup, we may go to park for different sniffs. ! We always take walk n morning and early evening . Should your pup want to jump up on my bed they are welcome to stay for night. My regulars love coming to visit Auntie Carol .

Cannot say enough good things about Adrian and my pup's day over there! So very kind and friendly (as were their dogs!!), which put this first-time client instantly at ease when leaving my baby. In the evening I got back a thoroughly happy, worn-out boy, who fell asleep 10 minutes into the drive home, with a completely contented look on his face. If I were local I'd come back many times over. I would recommend Adrian to anyone who needs a petsitter!

Kyra was absolutely amazing while watching my dog for a full week. From start to finish, her communication was top-tier—she kept me consistently updated and always made me feel at ease while I was away. She sent frequent pictures and detailed updates, which really reassured me that my dog was happy, safe, and well cared for. We joked and laughed at Banroll goofiness which made my experience with her even better. You can tell Kyra genuinely cares about the animals she watches. My dog looked relaxed, comfortable, and clearly enjoyed being with her. It’s not easy trusting someone with your pet for that long, but Kyra made the entire experience stress-free. I would 100% book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, attentive, and caring. She truly goes above and beyond!

Couldn’t have asked for a better place to leave my dogs for the day. Neither of them had been to “daycare” before and it made all the difference to have such a well maintained, open space to explore and relax in. They were immediately excited to explore and didn’t even notice that I left. Dawn is so clearly calm and competent, I didn’t worry at all while I was gone. One of my dogs wanted to be in the house and spent a lot of time sleeping on her bed, and Dawn was kind enough to let her hang out there. The best sign they were happy and comfortable: one dog has separation anxiety, and when I came to pick them up, she was excited to greet me, but then immediately turned around and went back into the yard, explored more, then asked to be let into the house. I don’t live in the area but will definitely book again if I’m back.

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - La Mesa

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in La Mesa on Rover is $32.1 per day (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,323 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across La Mesa. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your La Mesa commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 3,323 sitters in La Mesa, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
