Obi was relaxed and looked like he had a great day with Bernice. She kept us up to date with texts and photos throughout the day. We will be using her again while we are visiting San Diego.

Jennifer (and her husband, Chris) were such wonderful caretakers to our dog, Odi! She was so receptive to texts and sent multiple pictures throughout the day to keep me updated on how he was doing. I honestly think he was a little bummed to come home after all the fun he had exploring, walking and playing with their sweet dog, Harper. I'm very grateful to have found them and Odi will be thrilled with another visit someday.

Madison & Moses are awesome! So easy to communicate with and both have a great, calm energy that was perfect for helping my shy, anxious, rescue pittie feel right at home. It’s clear they’re both well-versed in dog behavior and I appreciate that they met my dog right where she was at. They had no issues giving her the time, space and patience needed to open up in her own time - it made all the difference. Thankful to have found them!

About: Hi! My name is Isabelle. I’ve been dog sitting for friends, family, and neighbors for at least 10 years! I miss having dogs around so I will love yours like my own. I work from home full time and can easily take lots of breaks to let your dog out! I also take 1-2 long walks a day. Feel free to bring their bed and any toys your dog may want to have with them. I don’t have a yard but plenty of space to walk them around.

Shanna and Charlie are the best of all the Rover sitters we have used. They convey a genuine care for pets which really relieves the stress from leaving our little Stella with strangers. Shanna kept us updated throughout the day and sent pictures of our little princess. We knew Stella was in caring hands because she returned home happy and ate her full dinner. Shanna even knitted her a little scarf! Thanks Shanna

Erica is fantastic ! We were initially concerned about leaving our 5 month old puppy Lola for one week, but Erica quickly disseminated our concerns by demonstrating her knowledge and experience of dogs/puppies. She understands their needs and is good at meeting those needs. Our high energy, stubborn puppy learned how to "sit" under Erica's care! Need I say more ! Erica also provided us with daily updates/photos which really helped us enjoy our vacation without any concerns. When we arrived home, it was obvious that Lola too was pleased with Erica.

About: I have always grown up with dogs and have never been in the house without them. I have had my own dog for the past two years and I regularly help take care of my neighbors pets as well as my friends. I have taken care of dogs from 2 pounds all the way up to over 100 pounds and I would say I’m very well-versed in how to care for animals. My dog is extremely dog friendly and would love to meet and play with your dog friend.! If your dog is unsure of other dogs, then I can walk your dog without my dog or I can dogs sit at your house without bringing my dog with me. I currently work a hybrid position where I am fully home on Mondays and Fridays and during the weekend. During the week I come home during my lunch break from work to walk my dog, so if needed, I can walk your dog during my lunch break as well. Mondays and Fridays, I am fully available to care for your dog in my home, at your home or whichever arrangement works best. I do live in a dog friendly apartment, but I can care for either your dog in either my home or in your home. My dog and I are constantly going to the park and beach so if your dog is comfortable, I can also take them with me to the park or beach.

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life so I’m very familiar with long walks playtime, feeding administering medication and most importantly love and comfortability. I hate to say it, but my dogs are spoiled like they are my own children so my Doberman is my son and my cocker spaniel mix is my daughter and I do refer to them that way 😂 I can’t wait for them to have a bunch of doggy cousins! My work weeks are pretty flexible. I go into work for a minimal amount of time. I have dogs of my own so I don’t like to keep them home alone for long. Our days are filled with cat naps long walks. They are free roaming animals so they’re welcome on the furniture and the bed. There is an outdoor patio area that is turfed that my own dogs enjoy . They are feed once in the morning once in the evening. My Doberman is also spent doing mental stimulation and training so I’m happy to teach your dog a few new tricks also :)

Our boys had a great time with Virginia! We had a last minute reservation for day care scheduled the day of and she was very accommodating and flexible with time. She took them on multiple walks during their 6 hour stay, one of which had a beautiful picturesque view of the water reservoir. She kept in touch and sent many pictures and updates and took great care of them like they were own! Would definitely recommend her services!

About: I’m a full-time teacher, and I do dog sitting as a second job (during breaks) because I truly enjoy it.I’m attentive, reliable, and very comfortable following routines and instructions. I love spending time with dogs, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I’m especially good at reading behavior, providing structure when needed, and giving plenty of attention and affection. Whether it’s sticking to a schedule, administering basic care, or just keeping your dog happy and relaxed, I treat every pet like my own. Pet care fits easily into my routine. I’m a teacher, so I have a consistent schedule and plenty of availability before and after school, in the evenings, holiday breaks and on weekends. I enjoy spending my free time caring for pets and making sure they’re happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. I care for pets by following their usual routines and any instructions provided by the owner. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, get plenty of walks, playtime, and attention, and feel safe and comfortable in their space. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I keep things clean, calm, and consistent.

About: I have extensive, hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals, ranging from household pets to farm and ranch animals. I grew up on a 7-acre property where I was constantly surrounded by animals, which gave me a strong foundation in animal care, behavior, and responsibility. I also spent time as a competitive horseback rider, which provided additional experience working closely with horses and other large animals. Alongside farm experience, I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and breeds, as well as cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and other small animals. I currently have two large senior dogs—a Boxer and a Shepherd/Husky mix—who I’ve raised since they were puppies, giving me experience with everything from early training to senior care. I’m familiar with the unique care needs of smaller animals as well. I also have a two-year-old daughter who is very gentle and animal-loving, and she enjoys being around and helping with daily pet care and walks when appropriate. Because she will often be with me, I kindly ask that you let me know if your pets are comfortable around children so I can ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved. My goal is always to provide safe, loving, and reliable care so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away, knowing your pets are treated like family. My schedule is flexible since I am a stay-at-home mom caring for my two-year-old daughter. This allows me to provide consistent attention and care throughout the day, with availability for morning, afternoon, and some evening visits depending on your pet’s needs. Because I am home most of the time, I am able to adjust my routine to accommodate feeding schedules, walks, check-ins, and any special care instructions your pet may have. I prioritize reliability and communication, so you’ll always know when I’m arriving and how your pet is doing. While I do have my daughter with me, I am intentional about only accepting bookings where I can ensure a safe, calm, and positive experience for both your pet and your home. Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, my top priorities are safety, trust, and creating a calm, comfortable environment. I make sure each pet’s routine is followed as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, litter box care, and any special instructions. I take time to understand each animal’s personality and needs so I can provide care that feels familiar and stress-free for them. In client homes, I treat the space with the same respect I would my own—keeping everything clean, secure, and exactly as I found it. I am reliable, communicative, and always mindful of both the pet’s comfort and the owner’s peace of mind. In my own home, pets are cared for in a structured, calm environment alongside my two senior dogs. I maintain a clean and organized space where animals can feel safe and relaxed. My goal is to build trust with both pets and their owners by providing consistent, attentive, and compassionate care every time.

About: I only accept one doggie family at a time, so your dog(s) will be the only ones here for boarding and doggie day care. I wanted to create a safe place for reactive dogs, little loners, and calm senior doggies who just want a place they can be themselves and have my full attention! I am a dog-lover with my whole life of experience in caring for them. I have had them in all shapes and sizes - my first two dogs being big German Shepherds to my last dog which was a little Maltipoo, and a few in between. I have potty trained quite a few dogs in my life, as well as helped them through their senior years. Most important of all, I will love your pets like they're my own children! 🩷 I'm currently working part time from home so I have plenty of availability to take your pup outside for potty breaks or walks and give them attention throughout the day. I have a safe, fenced yard with plenty of room for sniffing and sunshine. Big dogs will have room to run and fetch. I also have senior dog care items like a step to get on the couch. I allow dogs to be free in the house, they are never crated unless the owner specifically requests it as part of their nightly routine. In that case - I have a long gate that can be made into a pen, and a cage for a small dog, if requested. Pets are family here - I have always allowed my own pets on the couch or bed and will do the same for yours unless you prefer otherwise.

Couldn’t have asked for a better place to leave my dogs for the day. Neither of them had been to “daycare” before and it made all the difference to have such a well maintained, open space to explore and relax in. They were immediately excited to explore and didn’t even notice that I left. Dawn is so clearly calm and competent, I didn’t worry at all while I was gone. One of my dogs wanted to be in the house and spent a lot of time sleeping on her bed, and Dawn was kind enough to let her hang out there. The best sign they were happy and comfortable: one dog has separation anxiety, and when I came to pick them up, she was excited to greet me, but then immediately turned around and went back into the yard, explored more, then asked to be let into the house. I don’t live in the area but will definitely book again if I’m back.

The JingChun couple are really very considerate. They often share photos and videos of the baby with me, and give him biscuits and beef liver. The baby is a very shy and timid dog, but at their home, I saw him happily running on the grass. Moreover, the baby's toilet habits are not good; he often poops on the mat, but they are still very patient. They take her to the toilet within 1-2 hours. Thank you for your patience with the baby, I highly recommend their home! You will definitely not be disappointed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Calavo Gardens on Rover is $32.19 per day (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

As of August 2026, there are 3,217 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Calavo Gardens. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Calavo Gardens commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 3,217 sitters in Calavo Gardens, 85% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
