About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog. I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!

“Christine was so amazing with our cat Nova! She played with her, fed her, and made sure her water and litter box was taken care of. She even supported with clean up after Nova threw up a little bit from eating too quickly. Nova is usually a little feisty but by the end she warmed up to Christine. Additionally, Christine scheduled a meet & greet with Nova prior to us leaving for the weekend- which was so appreciated as we were able to meet her, let our cat meet her, and provide instructions and directions in person. She is clearly knowledgeable about animals and went above and beyond to ensure Nova was well taken care of. She sent pictures and a little summary after each visit. She was kind, caring, and friendly & we definitely will have her take care of Nova again in the future. Would definitely recommend Christine!”

“Crystal was AMAZING - she gave a thorough update every day with lots of photos. She had no problem giving our cat his medication and played with both cats every day. We look forward to working with her again.”

“Darya is fantastic with cats! Pepito is always well taken care of and happy when I get back. Darya communicates any issues very quickly, and makes sure Pepito has everything he needs while I’m away. She follows all the instructions for his care and send me cute photos with each visit :)”

“Alexia was so nice with our big boy! We were gone for an entire week and she stopped by twice a day. He got pets, brushes, walks, and fetch time!! Thank you Alexia!! Also, loved the pictures she took of our Wallace for us.”

“Thank you soo much for watching our three furbabies. Taking the time to mix up and spilt their foods. Also, big thank you for always taking care of our babies litter boxes~! We’d love for you to watch them again another time.”

“She is the best rover we’ve ever had. Extremely communicative, can problem solve, and genuinely seems to enjoy spending time with the animals. Highly recommend!!”

About: I’ve cared for pets for the better part of a decade, including my own 6 year old Australian Shepherd. Growing up I worked on a farm so I learned to be patient and tolerate all behaviors displayed by domesticated and non-domesticated animals. I currently work from 7am-3pm. As soon as I get home I walk my dog. At which point, part of our walk can be taking care of your pet in any capacity as we enjoy our time outside. He will not enter any residence and will remain outside until your pet is cared for. He’s great with all animals and if you’re comfortable with your pet meeting him, he will be happy to be their buddy. Living downtown, I have plenty of amazing parks and walkable areas I can take your dog. If you would like your cat walked that’s pretty cool too and I can provide the same resources in a manner that’s more suitable for cats.
“Sarah was absolutely wonderful with our cat, Dexter! She was very attentive, kept us updated with amazing videos, and made sure Dexter had plenty of playtime and attention. It was clear she genuinely cared about him, and that gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We will definitely be booking with her again in the future!”

About: With years of hands-on experience caring for pets, I understand that every furry friend has their own personality, needs, and routines. I provide dependable, loving care so pets feel comfortable, safe, and happy while their owners are away. I work remotely from home everyday and I hardly ever leave my place. I have a very flexible routine and will sure to be available for your pet’s needs My home is very safe, with lots of space. I normally enjoy going on long walks with dogs, but my home has a big outdoor area if preferred to keep your pet, securely, inside
About: Hi there! I’m new to pet sitting on Rover, but I’ve been a lifelong dog lover! I’ve had my own Pomeranian names Simba for 10 years, so I know how special our furry friends are. Right now, I’m looking for a job, so I have lots of free time to give your pup the attention they deserve! I offer dog walking and daytime at-home sitting in Downtown and nearby areas, so your dog will have a buddy all day. I’m excited to meet your pup and keep them safe, happy, and active! Requested information about your pet I just ask to let me know in advance what NOT to do/say with your pet. For example, my Pomeranian gets crazy zoomies if you say ‘who’s there?’, he rushes to my front door, spins and bark and it till he will not get absolutely tired. I would also like to know all important details about your pet friendliness with other animals and humans, their health and of course your preferred Pet Hospital. I’m currently actively looking for a remote job in Tech so I have all the time in the world to spend quality time with you fluffy friend. As I have my own pup waiting for me at home, I am looking for more standard working hours I’m not able to host pets at my home, but I’m more than happy to stay at your place for multiple hours during the day. I’ll follow all your pet’s routines, instructions, and any safety measures you have in place. Just let me know your preferences, and I’ll make sure I follow them closely!
“Ramisha took excellent care of my two cats while I was away. Being my first time using Rover, I was a bit anxious but she was very sweet and responsive and my cats warmed up to her very quickly! I would definitely recommend her for any pet needs and will be rebooking her for future needs. :)”

“Thank you so much for taking care of Mylo and Lukas! Viktorija was very communicative and friendly! She took care of my cats and even was able to help providing medication to one of them. 🙏🏼”

About: Hi, I'm Halle! I live in downtown SD with my roommate. We currently have a 20lb dog at home who I help take care of. I've had all kinds of pets growing up from rodents to birds! As a small woman, I prefer small to medium sized dogs (under 40lbs) that I can physically handle in case they are leash pullers. I am open to taking care of larger dogs if they are more mellow. I am very flexible when it comes to scheduling. I prefer to walk dogs in the downtown area since I live right here but will travel farther for a longer house sitting job. If housesitting, I can be with your pets most of the day. Every pet has different needs and personalities. I do my best to keep their routine consistent and familiar so they feel safe and calm while their family is away. I am open to accommodating whatever preferences you and your pet may have!
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover who works from home, so your pet will have my full attention all day long. I currently have a cat and a 15 year old senior dog, so I truly understand the bond we have with our older furry friends. Since I care for a senior dog myself, I’m very comfortable with medical needs. I can easily handle: Injections (like insulin) and any oral medications. Special diets and strict feeding schedules. Senior care for pets who need a slower pace and extra patience. Because I’m home 24/7, I can provide constant companionship and as many potty breaks as needed. Your pet will be treated like family here I work from home full-time, which means I have a very flexible schedule. Your pet will have my companionship 24/7, with constant supervision and as many potty breaks or walks as they need throughout the day A typical day includes lots of cuddles, mental stimulation, and fun games. We will explore the nearby park and enjoy long walks. Since I’m always home, I can strictly follow any feeding or medication schedules your pet requires

“Nicholas once again went above and beyond for our cat Pete!!! He gave us very detailed daily updates with lots of photos, which we appreciated since he watched our cat for such a long time! Pete was always so happy to see him, and I really appreciated how Nicholas took the time to play with him. He has watched Pete on two separate occasions, one of the occasions lasting almost two weeks, and we would highly recommend him!”

“Denise watched Owen after a long weekend and provided photo and videos during the visit and Owen was chatty and well-taken care of when I got home! I’d recommend Denise to take care of your pets!”

About: I have a cat of my own for three years now so I am very familiar with working with animals and caring for them. I am trying to get my foot in the animal industry so I thought this would be a good opportunity to learn more about animals and care for them. I do work part time in the mornings during the week but in the afternoon and nights I have full availability and able to work around my schedule if full time hours are offered. I currently have two dogs in one cats. I have a blue Doberman, Belgium, Melany, German👽 Shepherd mix and a long hair domestic cat. The dogs have had for about seven years now. And my cat. I’ve had for about three years, so I am very familiar with caring for animals, attending to their needs.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - San Diego
Sarah is awesome! My two cats loved her right away - even the shy one. She was great with their meds, sending updates & pictures, and really actively playing with them. I am pretty sure they didn’t miss us at all. 10/10 - we will definitely be asking Sarah to come by next time we’re out of town!

Brandon was an AMAZING cat sitter! I’m a pretty anxious pet parent & I felt so at ease when he was watching my cat, Archie. He was always on time, communicated a ton, sent both pictures & videos, & the list goes on! I will no longer stress about going out of town. If you’re looking for a good pet sitter do not hesitate. Will 100% be booking him again.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
