About: I have had pets my entire life and grew up caring for both cats and dogs. I have experience with larger breeds, including German Shepherds and Dobermans, both of which were rescued from shelters. Caring for rescue dogs taught me patience, consistency, and how to help pets feel safe and comfortable in new environments. What sets me apart is that I treat every pet like family. I understand that each animal has their own personality, routines, and comfort levels, and I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I’m comfortable with active dogs, maintaining feeding and walking schedules, administering basic care, and giving pets the attention they need. I am also comfortable administering oral medication to both cats and dogs. Pet care fits well into my daily and weekly routine. I work as a researcher with a flexible schedule, which allows me to adjust my time as needed for pet visits, walks, and check-ins. I’m also available on weekends, which gives me additional flexibility for longer stays or more frequent care when needed. I’m able to plan ahead and stay consistent with feeding times, walks, and any special care instructions, making sure pets get reliable attention throughout the day or week. I provide pet care in a safe and calm environment, and I always prioritize each pet’s comfort and well-being. In my home, I live in an apartment with access to a dog park and I’m also close to other parks nearby, which allows for regular exercise and outdoor time when caring for dogs. I do not currently own any other pets, so animals in my care will not be exposed to other animals in the home. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow all instructions closely and maintain their normal routines to help them feel secure and comfortable in their own space.
About: I used to have a cat and a hamster and currently own a dog (does not live with me). I have personally trained him and he is now living with my family! I currently go to college in the morning so my availability will be the afternoons along with the weekends in the afternoon and night! I can do boarding on the weekends while caring during the afternoon on the week days! I enjoy playing or relaxing with your animal depending on what they like to do! For dogs, there is a pet relief area in my apartment building however if they are not comfortable with that and/or you have a senior dog, i do have fake grass on my patio right outside of my apartment!
About: I have experience walking, feeding, and caring for dogs, cats, and even quails! I want to help your pet get the exercise, food, water, and relief they need! Just let me know :) I am available until the sun goes down most days. If anything changes, I'll be sure to let you know ahead of time. Thanks! I have a fenced-in backyard with plenty of space to roll around, explore, sunbathe, or sit in the shade under a palm tree with a fan.

About: I’ve cared for pets for the better part of a decade, including my own 6 year old Australian Shepherd. Growing up I worked on a farm so I learned to be patient and tolerate all behaviors displayed by domesticated and non-domesticated animals. I currently work from 7am-3pm. As soon as I get home I walk my dog. At which point, part of our walk can be taking care of your pet in any capacity as we enjoy our time outside. He will not enter any residence and will remain outside until your pet is cared for. He’s great with all animals and if you’re comfortable with your pet meeting him, he will be happy to be their buddy. Living downtown, I have plenty of amazing parks and walkable areas I can take your dog. If you would like your cat walked that’s pretty cool too and I can provide the same resources in a manner that’s more suitable for cats.
“Thank you soo much for watching our three furbabies. Taking the time to mix up and spilt their foods. Also, big thank you for always taking care of our babies litter boxes~! We’d love for you to watch them again another time.”

About: Hi, I'm Halle! I live in downtown SD with my roommate. We currently have a 20lb dog at home who I help take care of. My mom used to breed dogs so I am familiar with puppies as well. I've had all kinds of pets growing up from rodents to birds! As a small woman, I prefer small to medium sized dogs (under 50lbs) that I can physically handle in case they are leash pullers. I am happy to take care of larger dogs if they are more mellow. I am very flexible when it comes to scheduling. If housesitting, I can be with your pet for most of the day. I am happy to accommodate tourists who need a hotel sitter. Every pet has different needs and personalities. I do my best to keep their routine consistent and familiar so they feel safe and calm while their family is away. I am open to accommodating whatever preferences you and your pet may have!

About: Dogs have been part of my life since I was a child, and I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels for over 11 years. I was the proud owner of a special-needs senior dog who I cared for from the time I was 18 until he peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge, so I understand the patience, dedication, and unconditional love our pets deserve. I also regularly dog sit and have experience walking large breeds, handling excited or strong dogs on leash, and staying calm in stressful situations. Safety is always my top priority, whether we’re out for a walk or relaxing at home. I treat every dog like they’re part of my own family, making sure they receive plenty of exercise, affection, routine, and personalized care. My goal is for both you and your pup to feel completely comfortable and confident while you’re apart. I’m currently in school, so I appreciate the flexibility that pet sitting provides. Outside of occasional Monday and Wednesday mornings, my schedule is very open, and I’m happy to accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits. If you’re located in the downtown area, I’m especially available for drop-in visits, walks, feedings, or last-minute check-ins. Caring for animals has been part of my daily routine for over 10 years, so fitting pet care into my schedule comes naturally. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine will always be my top priorities. I understand how important consistency is, so I’ll follow your care instructions closely—from feeding schedules and medications to walks, playtime, and bedtime routines. I pay close attention to each animal’s body language and behavior and can recognize when something seems off. I have experience caring for pets with different personalities, energy levels, and medical needs, and I remain calm in stressful situations. I treat every pet as if they were my own, keeping them safe, loved, entertained, and well cared for while you’re away. I’ll also send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in good hands.
“Darya was an excellent caretaker for our 2 cats with twice daily drop in visits. She took time to play with our babies and get them lots of pets. We could tell by the pictures she sent that both cats were very appreciative of her care. We would hire Darya again!”

“She is the best rover we’ve ever had. Extremely communicative, can problem solve, and genuinely seems to enjoy spending time with the animals. Highly recommend!!”

“Amazing sitter! Very communicative and follows instruction very well. She spent a little extra time with our kitties because of all the medications one of them has. We are very appreciative!”

About: I've been walking and sitting dogs for over nine years now, and it's something I absolutely love. My experience includes owning some larger, powerful breeds like German Shepherds, Great Danes, and English Mastiffs, so I'm very comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Currently, I have a Belgian Malinois, which means I'm well-versed in providing the kind of structured exercise and mental stimulation that high-energy dogs need to thrive. Pet care is a big part of my daily and weekly routine, especially with a Belgian Malinois! Every morning starts with a good walk or run to burn off some energy, followed by feeding. Throughout the day, there are potty breaks, training sessions, and playtime. Evenings usually involve another walk and some quiet cuddle time. On a weekly basis, I make sure to schedule grooming, vet check-ups if needed, and dedicated time for more intensive training or enrichment activities to keep things interesting. It's all about consistency and making sure they're happy and healthy! When I care for pets, whether it's in my home or a client's, the main goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. This usually means sticking to their regular feeding schedule, giving them their meds if needed, and making sure they get plenty of exercise and playtime. I also pay close attention to their behavior, looking for any signs of discomfort or illness, and keep in touch with the owner to give them updates and peace of mind.
“Denise was very communicative and took very good care of my dog Deacon. When I returned home everything was well put together, and my dog was happy and healthy. Will definitely book with her again.”

“Christine was great and took wonderful care of my Devon Rex. She is communicative, reliable and did a wonderful job ensuring his food, water and litter box were replenished and clean upon each visit. I would definitely book her again when I travel next.”

“Armando is awesome! From the time we made contact, communication was great. My cat, Buddy, really enjoyed his time, and we are very grateful for Armando's commitment to Buddy's health and to the safety of our home. The first couple of days Buddy wasn't feeling well -- Armando and I reviewed the symptoms, made adjustments to food and medication, and within 24 hours we had turned a good corner! I got photos, activity reports, and we had a few phone calls at my request to make sure Armando had what he needed to keep my spoiled kitty happy :-). Thank You Armando!”

“Sandra is great with my basset hounds. They were not happy about getting their bath at first (being the spoiled children they are), but she has charmed them and now they are happy to see her!”

Gabby has always been amazing with my two cats and I can’t recommend her enough. I was nervous about leaving them longer than I ever have and she made sure to give me lots of pics and updates each day to ease my mind. She even turned on cat TV to keep them entertained.

Latisha has been watching our two cats (almost 11 years old) for about a year now every time my husband and I travel. She is the absolute best! Always gives them lots of love and play time, and takes care of their food/water/litter. It’s so nice to be able to trust someone to visit our home and take good care of the cats.
Rachel is an actual Angel. During a long term stay she noticed something wrong with one of our cats and she took him to the vet on a Saturday. She called promptly and then texted with me all through the night about his condition before taking him early the next day to the vet. She waited with him, FaceTimed me and the vet twice and then went back to get him and returned him home. She wasn’t even scheduled to watch them that day and cleared her day to help us. She made an incredibly stressful situation for us as tolerable and easy as it could be. Her communication was incredible and I don’t know what we would have done without her. We are genuinely indebted to her and so thankful we chose her to watch them.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
