Our dog sitter of 6 years moved, and we were so nervous about finding someone new to care for our pups. We are so grateful to have found Robin & Rahn! Our dogs have stayed with them 3 times now, and are excited each time they go for a visit. We appreciate the love, attention, and care that Robin & Rahn give to our babies. They give us plenty of updates during each stay, and are very responsive.

Anna was amazing watching my dog Willow for the first time. I had a lot of anxiety leaving her after just moving to San Diego, but Anna immediately put me at ease. She was so kind and treated Willow like her own, letting her relax and feel comfortable in her home. She kept me updated and sent great pictures that made me really happy. I truly appreciated her communication and care—would absolutely recommend her! She’s wonderful and you can see how much she loves and cares about dogs! Willow had a great time!

Kat and Joe are amazing! At the initial meet and greet they asked lots of questions which made me feel reassured that my dog was in good hands. I really like that they post picture updates and are very active, taking her for walks to the nearby dog park. A friendly couple, easy to work with, and you can tell they really care. Highly recommend!

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover who works from home, so your pet will have my full attention all day long. I currently have a cat and a 15 year old senior dog, so I truly understand the bond we have with our older furry friends. Since I care for a senior dog myself, I’m very comfortable with medical needs. I can easily handle: Injections (like insulin) and any oral medications. Special diets and strict feeding schedules. Senior care for pets who need a slower pace and extra patience. Because I’m home 24/7, I can provide constant companionship and as many potty breaks as needed. Your pet will be treated like family here I work from home full-time, which means I have a very flexible schedule. Your pet will have my companionship 24/7, with constant supervision and as many potty breaks or walks as they need throughout the day A typical day includes lots of cuddles, mental stimulation, and fun games. We will explore the nearby park and enjoy long walks. Since I’m always home, I can strictly follow any feeding or medication schedules your pet requires

About: Hi! I’m Amy, a dependable and attentive dog lover who understands how important it is to find someone you truly trust with your pet. I have a senior dog of my own, Sammy, so I’m very comfortable with the routines, patience, and extra care that some dogs need, whether that’s slower walks, medication routines, or simply a calm and reassuring presence. I’m active, responsible, and love spending time outdoors, so I’m happy to tailor care to your dog’s needs, whether that means neighborhood walks, playtime, or relaxed companionship at home. I’ll care for your dog the way I’d want someone to care for mine: safely, lovingly, and with lots of attention to their unique personality and routine. My schedule is fairly flexible, and I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and pet care throughout the week. I do have a standing commitment on Monday and Wednesday mornings that takes me away for a few hours, but outside of that I have a lot of flexibility and can often accommodate a variety of schedules with advance notice. I prioritize safe, attentive, and individualized care for every dog. I take time to learn each dog’s routine, temperament, triggers, and any special instructions before providing care. I’m mindful of leash safety, secure doors and gates carefully, monitor for signs of stress or discomfort, and make sure they have fresh water, exercise, and a calm environment. I also understand that every dog is different, some want lots of activity and play, while others do better with a slower pace, extra patience, or a more structured routine. My goal is always to make dogs feel comfortable!

This review is long overdue! Melissa has been caring for our dog Suki for over a year now. Suki has done daycare, overnights and extended stays with Auntie Melissa. Suki is always eager, happy and super excited when she gets to go to Melissa's. Suki just loves Melissa and she also loves her dog Asia too. They play, walk and nap together and we get the sweetest pics and updates of them. We would give Melissa 10 stars if we could!!! We highly recommend her. Melissa is the best and we are grateful and thankful for her!

About: Located in Sherman Heights near East Village and Golden Hill, perfect for long walks and fresh air. I recently lost my 8-year-old lab/pitty mix and am hoping to continue engaging with dogs while dealing with the loss. I have also fostered rescue dogs, am experienced with highly energetic dogs, and injured or disabled dogs. I've always loved animals and thought this would be a fantastic way to earn additional money and do something I love. Eager to provide a place of love and attention for dogs temporarily separated from their owners. It's stressful enough to be away from your pet without worrying if a kennel will provide them enough attention and engagement. I can't wait to meet you and your pet! I work from home full time so can give your dog all the love and attention they need. My schedule is pretty flexible and I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. I prefer to take dogs out at least twice daily for walks, including one longer scent walk where we let their nose lead the way. I live close to downtown San Diego and can easily walk to East Village or Gaslamp which is are extremely dog friendly areas. I have a small fenced-in yard and can easily crate your dog if necessary. I have experience administering oral medications if necessary and always keep a well stocked pet first aid kit in my home and car. If caring for your pet in your home, I can adapt easily to their routine and will meet your pet at their comfort level.

My dog Kyla can be skiddish around other dogs and experiences and being so far away from her can get a bit overwhelming. However, Caymin kept me up to date everyday, he was very responsive, and I could tell my dog had a wonderful time. I will for sure book Caymin again! Thanks, man! 🎉

As of September 2026, there are 4,227 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across San Diego. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

95% of San Diego sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which San Diego landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their San Diego home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your San Diego.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your San Diego sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
