“Andrew did a great job with our 6 month old puppy. He was a clean and tidy house guest that took great care of our sweet puppy. He sent plenty of pictures, fed her, walked her and gave her the meds she needed twice a day. We’d be more than happy to have him watch our puppy again in the future.”

“Zoe was amazing! Our German Shepherd is typically an anxious dog around new people but Zoe made him feel comfortable almost immediately. We felt very secure knowing that he was being well taken care of. Plus we got lots of pics and updates throughout our time away. We will definitely be having Zoe over again to watch Obi!”

“Isabella is absolutely the best! My pups absolutely love her. It’s so wonderful to have her stay at our house where the dogs can stay in their own space and be comfortable. So glad to have found her!”

“Five stars! Elena was absolutely amazing! I contacted her fairly last minute when my friend couldn’t watch my dog while I was out of town. She quickly organized a meet-up to make sure he was comfortable with her, and he was immediately smitten (which is saying something, because he usually hides from new people). Elena sent me many updates throughout the day with insta-worthy pictures of him. I will definitely book her again as long as I’m in St. Louis!”

“We can’t thank Spencer enough. Our dog sitter had a family health emergency after we were already out of state. Spencer came to the rescue and stayed with our dog and could not have been kinder, more responsible, and flexible with a last minute and chaotic situation. We would be thrilled to have her watch our dog again in the future and cannot speak highly enough of her professionalism and adaptability.”

“Michael has stayed at our house and watched our two dogs for several extended trips. She is awesome with communication and takes great care of ours dogs and house. We never have to worry about what’s going on back at home when Miacel is on the job. We would for sure hire her again!”

“Kimmie did a great job with our Cooper. She was responsible, responsive to texts, looked after Cooper really well, sent us updates and photos and left the house spotless. Very much appreciated her care and interest in our dog. I will definitely use her again. Thank you, Kimmie!”

“Emily is fantastic. She made sure all of Kodas needs were met while watching her, including taking her for hikes and trips to the dog park! It’s always reassuring knowing Koda is having fun and getting exercise when I have to travel for work. Emily was easy to communicate with and left the house very tidy. I’ll definitely be utilizing Emily’s services again.”

“Michaela was great with our pup! She was very communicative, messaging updates and pics. She also left our place super clean. Would definitely use Michaela again!”

“Amber did a great job taking care of our two large dogs and one cat, including giving them medications. She even stayed an extra night when our flight was canceled, which was such a relief. We would highly recommend her services!”

“Stephanie was so great with our dog and our house when she house sit for us for 10 days. She sent frequent updates and took our dog to the park or for walks, and when he didn’t feel like it she played with him in the yard! I would highly recommend Stephanie!!”

“Kristen was a great sitter, sent daily updates with pics and video, communicated well before and during the stay, and left my apartment very clean. I came home to a very happy and safe pup, would highly recommend!”
“Xochitl was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful and our boys love her. I would whole heartedly recommend her and I will definitely be asking her back as well.”

“Christian is a great sitter and consummate professional. He was very responsive and would provide daily if not twice daily updates on how things were going. Would definitely recommend and use his services and experience again!”

“Wow-I cannot say enough amazing things about Shana. She is attentive, loving, respectful, and one of the best dog watchers I have ever had. She was so good to my Winnie when I had aniexty about leaving her and she ALWAYS checked in. I’m so impressed with her and am planning on using her for the future!!”

About: When I was 14 I put myself out there and printed flyers for my dog walking and drop in services back home in Boston. I spent all of my sophmore and junior year walking dogs in Charlestown, MA in between school and working part-time at Starbucks. My very first client was a Bull Mastiff named T. She was recovering from cancer and had a tendency to lay in the middle of the side walk when she was fed up with walking. I learned very early in my career that every dog breed had their own silly and unique characteristics and this intrigued me. I was very invested in researching different dog breeds, training and walking techniques, dog behavior, and then it was history from there. Every walk was a learning opportunity for not only me, but also T and every future dog I worked with. I gained more clients in the area and continued my journey from there. I have walked/sat several kinds of dogs. I approach every walk or sitting with patience, care, and most importantly with you and your fur family in mind. -I have experience in administering medications most commonly oral. - Need a sitter who can run with your four legged friend? I’d love to! - Not afraid to get dirty. That’s apart of the job. Hair ball? No problem! Carpet accident? Just let me know where the cleaner is, I know how it is! - Incredibly patient. Experience with anxious/reactive dogs/cats. - Experience with Dogs who pull - Puppy Care + Kitten Care (Bottle Feeding) - Training Experience - Senior Dog Care - Fast Walker I am currently sitting and walking full time. I am hoping to find long term clients in the area that can rely on me and would like to develop a long term client relationship. My day is your pets day. I make a point to treat the homes of my clients like they are my own. I am always vigilant about items on the floor that can hurt/upset pets stomachs, I maintain things just as they are and respect the space, I ensure my entries and exits are careful and shut the door close behind me, I clean up found messes or remove/report when pets have gotten into things, and lastly I am able to easily adapt to your pets needs. Have a nervous dog who hates loud steps? I’ll walk on the tip of my toes. Need to pretend you microwave your dogs food so they eat it? I’m happy to play pretend!
“Delaney was just fantastic. She took great care of not even our pet, but our house as well. We hope to have the opportunity to use her again. Thank you!”

“Micheline did an amazing job. I was nervous about using Roger for the first time but I immediately felt so confident leaving my cats with her and she exceeded my expectations. She frequently checked in, sent me many adorable photos, was very communicative, and most important I came home to happy healthy cats. I would recommend her absolutely. She was just lovely”

“Annie went above and beyond with our cat and communicated effectively with unexpected situations at our home. Our cat seemed sad that it was me that came home and not her haha so you should book with her if you can :)”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Salt Lake City is $45
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Salt Lake City
This was my third time booking with her, and once again she was amazing! She sent lots of updates and photos throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. My pets were well cared for. I always feel comfortable leaving my pets in her care and would absolutely book with her again!

Anna was so accommodating to my senior dog’s needs, mostly just being wholly present, which made it feel comfortable for me to leave him while I enjoyed a music festival. As he loses his vision, he is increasingly insecure when left alone. I hope to work with Anna again.

Morgan was amazing. She was super communicative, kind, and reliable. She kept me posted on how things were going and promptly responded to any questions I had. From the pictures and videos she shared, it was clear that Maya felt totally comfortable and had a ton of fun with Morgan and her pup Goldie. The house was also spotless when we got back. We’d love to have Morgan and Goldie back next time we have to leave town!

Tom was a great sitter! He was a great communicator from start to finish, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Shoney clearly loved him, and it was obvious he took wonderful care of our pup. He followed all of our requests, left our home spotless, and was incredibly respectful of our space. On top of that, he has such a warm, trustworthy vibe that made the whole experience easy and stress-free. We would absolutely book Tom again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Rachel is clearly great with cats and dogs. She kept me in the loop and sent pictures, followed instructions and also went above and beyond to make my nervous cat comfortable in his new home while I was away. She bonded immediately with Auggie, my dog, and eventually got to experience Penny as a lap cat. She even washed and changed linens and turned the dishwasher on without being asked. I’ll definitely work with Rachel again!

I was lucky enough to have Annie stay with my sweet Indie pup during my two-week vacation to Europe. Indie had recently been hospitalized and required some medication to help her stay healthy. I didn't have to worry about a thing! Annie was incredible and kept Indie healthy and happy. Also, as an extra bonus, my house plants and patio flowers were thriving, better than when I left, and to top it all off the house was clean. Annie coordinated with my family to ensure Indie got her daily walk while she had to work and made my life easy, so I didn't have to do it with the crazy time change in Europe. I have nothing but good things to say as usual! Thank you so much Annie! Indie misses you...

Wow-I cannot say enough amazing things about Shana. She is attentive, loving, respectful, and one of the best dog watchers I have ever had. She was so good to my Winnie when I had aniexty about leaving her and she ALWAYS checked in. I’m so impressed with her and am planning on using her for the future!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Salt Lake City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Salt Lake City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Salt Lake City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Salt Lake City. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
