“Elena has been great with my two girls. She knows how to bring their playful personalities out and has command and authority when needed. She is gentle and respectful at all times and sends the best doggo action pics I've seen in a long time. She's an amazing human and has the perfect energy for my two wiley pooches.”

“Christian is a great sitter and consummate professional. He was very responsive and would provide daily if not twice daily updates on how things were going. Would definitely recommend and use his services and experience again!”

“Emily is fantastic. She made sure all of Kodas needs were met while watching her, including taking her for hikes and trips to the dog park! It’s always reassuring knowing Koda is having fun and getting exercise when I have to travel for work. Emily was easy to communicate with and left the house very tidy. I’ll definitely be utilizing Emily’s services again.”

“Stephanie was amazing with our little Roxy. She is a fear reactive foster and Stephanie handled her patiently, perfectly, and lovingly. She sent us regular updates with photos and videos. Trying to find the right person to watch our girl with very special needs was critical. Stephanie was the perfect fit for Roxy and our situation. We would highly recommend her and will definitely be using her again.”

“Madison is WONDERFUL. She creates a very positive first impression. We left for the weekend feeling 100% confident that our pups were in good hands. She is an excellent communicator and took great care of our three dogs. We returned to happy pups! She went above and beyond by cleaning up, too! We feel very fortunate that Madison is working with Rover. We'll contact her first for our next adventure. Thank you, Madison!”

“Annie was amazing. Best dog/house sitter we have had! She took great care of the dogs and the house and gave us updates constantly. We can’t wait to have her back!”

“Gaby is a gem! She did SO well with our sweet senior pup, going above and beyond to give her lots of snuggles and attention, sending us frequent updates and cute photos, and taking great care of our house too. She cares deeply about animals and we are grateful she cares for ours too! She came for meet and greets, asked great questions, and noted down all the important details about our dog including medications etc.. We would strongly recommend her to anyone and can’t wait to have her back over to care for our dog again!”

“Michelle was an absolute DREAM to have watch Chester. The updates she would give were so descriptive and playful. She really went the extra mile to make sure our dog had the best experience possible and that we were not stressed at all about leaving him in her hands. She was incredibly kind and considerate to all our needs and was very communicative. We would absolutely book her again and look forward to doing so!”

“Xochitl was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful and our boys love her. I would whole heartedly recommend her and I will definitely be asking her back as well.”

“Zoe was amazing! Our German Shepherd is typically an anxious dog around new people but Zoe made him feel comfortable almost immediately. We felt very secure knowing that he was being well taken care of. Plus we got lots of pics and updates throughout our time away. We will definitely be having Zoe over again to watch Obi!”

About: I have cared for multiple dogs for multiple days, over holidays and weekends. I’m good to take them on long walks or chill with them on the couch, whatever they prefer. I am notorious for picking up lost dogs and returning them to their loving homes safely. I am currently a college student with classes not starting until later in the day, so I am looking for some work and care to give. I’m excellent at completing tasks you may need. If your pet is on a scheduled meal time, no need to fret. Or maybe they want to be let out at 7am sharp, I’ve got you covered. I can also water your plants while i’m at it or take out the trash.
“Danielle was great. Came home and I could tell Chinook had been cared for with love. I'll reach out to Danielle again when headed out of town. If you need a sitter or walk, she's the one.”

“Isabella is absolutely the best! My pups absolutely love her. It’s so wonderful to have her stay at our house where the dogs can stay in their own space and be comfortable. So glad to have found her!”

“Brad has watched my pups a few different times and he’s great. He’s incredibly detailed and took great care of my pups and home. If you’re looking for an excellent dog sitter, look no further.”

“There aren’t enough words of gratitude that I have for the care and attention Betty provided when sitting my pups! She communicates as often as I need. She sends updates and it is clear that my pups are well loved when she is with them!”
“Natalie was great with our dog Kaiya. She sent us updates and pictures during our trip. which we really appreciated. You can really tell she loves animals and taking great care of them. I recommend Natalie 100%.”

About: I love animals and have always been the go-to for friends and family when pet sitting. I had a senior cat that required daily injections and medications for many years, so I’m happy to work with senior pets who may need medications and other special TLC. I don’t have space for a dog of my own right now, so helping out with others’ makes me so happy! I work full time for a gardening organization, but my days and work hours are flexible so it’s easy to fit your pet and their needs into my day. I mostly work outside, and my office is pet friendly, so if your pup doesn’t like to be left alone, I can always bring them with! I have a fenced backyard and am happy to have your dog in my space. I prefer to sit dogs at their houses so they’re in spaces they know and aren’t stressed in, but am always happy to bring pups to my house or with me on my day.
“Aria was an awesome house and pet sitter for us! She was super responsive, prompt, and took such great care of everything while we were away. She gave us peace of mind! Thank you so much, hope to see you again soon!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Salt Lake
Chance made my trip stress free— after some negative experiences in the past, I am very anxious to leave my babies alone, but I felt comfortable the whole time! She provided updates and was very kind and understanding throughout the whole process, even with my crazy puppy.

My dog had tummy issues right before our trip and Taryn was amazing taking care of her and giving her medication for a couple days! She communicated everything and our dog was thriving by the time we got home. House was clean/dog was happy and we were relaxed on our vacation knowing everything was fine at home with our dog!

Glad you liked it! Here’s a slightly shorter version: Katherine was an amazing dog sitter! While I was out of town, she gave my dog so much love, attention, and care. I received daily updates, photos, and it was clear she went above and beyond. There was plenty of outdoor time, great walks, and fun adventures. The best compliment I can give is that I think I came home to a happier, even better-behaved dog. To top it off, my house was absolutely immaculate when I returned. It gave me complete peace of mind, and I would absolutely trust Katherine again and recommend her without hesitation.

I was very stressed about leaving my cat and dog with a sitter for the first time but Danielle eased all my stresses with updates and pictures every day. Our animals seemed comfortable and happy in all of the pictures. She left our house immaculate. When we had to make a last minute change to our plans, Danielle was very easy to work with to accommodate the change. She also responded to messages quickly. I would recommend Danielle to anyone and will definitely use her services again. Thank you, Danielle!!!!

I had the best experience using Elizandro to watch my dog. Loved how he interacted with her and my dog loved him right off the bat and she’s picky! I also truly appreciated his help around the house and willingness to roll with the punches on a bit of a crazy morning. Will def use again!! Thank you! 🙏

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Salt Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Salt Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Salt Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
