“Betty was an amazing dog sitter for our senior Great Dane, Daphne. She was incredibly professional and easy to communicate with throughout the entire process. Each day, she gave us detailed updates of Daphne's day, which included beautiful photos of Daphne. We always looked forward to getting these fun updates every day! Betty went above and beyond with Daphne's care, and left our house cleaner than before we left. We would absolutely have Betty back to dog sit again in the future! Thanks, Betty!!”

“Michelle was the best sitter we could've asked for! We went on vacation to Europe for 2.5 weeks and she stayed in our home to look after our cat and dog. She took amazing care of both our pets and our home. We have a high maintenance (aka neurotic!) border collie and she handled all her quirks perfectly. We left quite detailed instructions and Michelle followed them to a tee. She was a really great communicator and kept us updated with info and pics every day (even taking into consideration the time difference!). We came home to two happy little pets and a spotless house. Can't recommend her enough!!!”

“Mark is the most amazing person! Our dog Tia loved him, and it broke our hearts to move away. You can’t go wrong with Mark, he’s a lovely human being!”

“I’ve used tawny 3 times now and as usual he did a great job. I know my pups and my home were in good hands and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality pet care.”

“Zoe was amazing! Our German Shepherd is typically an anxious dog around new people but Zoe made him feel comfortable almost immediately. We felt very secure knowing that he was being well taken care of. Plus we got lots of pics and updates throughout our time away. We will definitely be having Zoe over again to watch Obi!”

“Stephanie was an amazing sitter! She connected with our doodle quickly during our meet & greet. I was completely confident leaving him in her care. Also, she was responsive and patient with us when we would ask about updates.”

“Blanca was fantastic! She took great care of both my dog and my parents' dog while we were away for the weekend. She kept the house clean, sent regular updates and photos, and gave us complete peace of mind. I would definitely book her again and highly recommend her!”

“Overall Madison did well and my dogs loved her. She was responsive and left my house super clean. We did have some hurdles but I appreciate Madison being communicative so we could troubleshoot as best we can. To be fair I do have three dogs, including one very young timid one, one that is chill but sometimes escapes, and one that is chill but currently has an ear infection and needed medication administered daily.”

“Nathalia is the best! This is my first experience on Rover and she did not disappoint! She kept my 2 month old puppy entertained which can be tough so i’m so grateful for that! She made sure to update me on how my puppy was doing and did everything I asked perfectly. So nice and would definetly have her house sit again!”

“Kirk was wonderful with our two poodles. He sent lots of pictures and took them on plenty of hikes giving these two active dogs the exercise they need. The house was spotless upon our return. Highly recommend!”

“I had to leave town for some family business and I have to admit I had some anxieties about leaving my house and 2 dogs with someone I had never met. I first meet Alex at a neighborhood park near me for a meet and greet. After the initial pleasantries I invited Alex over to my house to help familiarize her with the house. I left on my trip and the first evening Alex texted me some pictures of the dogs. It was obvious the dogs were happy, and the rest of my concerns melted away. She texted me pictures every evening while I was gone. There was some great shots. I had also agreed to have Alex clean the house while I was gone. When I did arrive home the house was shinny clean, and the dogs were happy to see me. Alex exceeded my expectations! Next time I plan on leaving town I will contact Alex and know that every thing is in good hands.”

“Diana is the best dog sitter! She is responsible, reliable and stays in touch. Our vacation was less stressful knowing that our Benji was being taken care of. I would highly recommend her! Teresa Eubank”

“Annie was absolutely fantastic! My family had to leave town with short notice and Annie was able to stay in my home and tend to our Giant Schnauzer puppy. Tending a puppy of his size and nippy age is no small task, yet Annie was able to keep his puppy training and leash training going. She is super clean and polite as well. Highly recommend! Thanks Annie!!”

“We had such a great experience with Meisha from start to finish! Meisha was so communicative before and during our trip and sent lots of pictures and updates. It felt so good to know that our pets were safe, happy, and cared for while we were away. And Meisha left the house cleaner than we did! We would be thrilled to have Meisha take care of our pets again and highly recommend her!”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about Kimberly. We booked the week prior for an overnight so we could take a quick trip to CO for a concert. Kimberly was friendly & communicative the week leading up to the booking and checked in the evening before. She arrived at 6:30 am with such a warm energy and immediately won the pups over. Grimm seemed instantly attached to her! It was very sweet. I was a bit worried since it was our first time using Rover, & the first time leaving the boys with someone other than their grandparents. We felt comfortable with Kimberly right off the bat and we knew our boys were in good hands. I loved that she sent lots of photos & videos while we were away & let us know how well they were doing. She followed all care instructions perfectly. She even left us beautiful flowers she cut from her garden. I would 100% trust Kimberly to care for my furbabies again in the future. I feel blessed to have found and connected with such a good human. Thank you Kimberly! 💛🐾”

“Mara was wonderful with my dogs. She's incredibly sweet and they immediately loved her upon our meet and greet. She sent plenty of pictures and updates and went above and beyond. Highly recommend and will be booking with her again!”

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Britt stayed overnight with our two dogs for six days and took amazing care of both our pups and our home. She treated our dogs like they were her own and kept us updated with frequent messages and lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She also went above and beyond when our AC unexpectedly stopped working. She immediately let us know, and set up fans to keep our dogs comfortable until we got home. We were so grateful knowing they were in such caring and capable hands. She left our home spotless, was incredibly reliable, spent lots of time playing with them and giving them exercise, and made the entire experience completely stress-free. We would absolutely hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will truly care for their pets.

Alex did such an amazing job with my Lucy. It was her first time being left home alone with someone who wasn’t family . She let Lucy warm up to her at her own pace and helped her feel safe and comfortable . She took her for lots of walks , played with her, and gave her all of the loves . She also captured the most amazing and silly photos of Lucy .

Love Nikki!!!!! Nikki took such great care of our boys Chase (German Shepherd) and Simba (cat). She kept in great contact and updated us on how everyone was doing. Honestly, I think the boys would prefer her to come back and us leave. 😂 Both boys felt at ease with Nikki, and I felt so comfortable leaving my house and babies in her care. Without a doubt Nikki is my go-to sitter.

Abby was so great with my anxious pup and zany cat. They seemed so comfortable with her! Abby provided great updates (including photos!) which was great for my peace of mind while away. She also left my place spotless! I’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Meredith was AMAZING She was extremely intentional with our two very active pups. She took them to hikes, porch plays & backyard hangs. She followed instructions to a T, and went over and beyond-she did laundry and even helped introduce our girls to some new training techniques. She was very communicative over our whole trip, which we were so grateful for as this is the first time we have left them with someone who isn't family. We would have Meredith again and again, she is truly amazing!!

Kolby was absolutely amazing with my two chihuahuas! They got so much love and attention while we were away that I think they were actually a little sad when we came home. It gave me such peace of mind knowing they were in such caring hands. I would definitely book with Kolby again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving pet sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Valley City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Valley City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Valley City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
