“This is our second time booking Kendall to house sit our anxious dog. Our dog was excited to see her again which put our minds as ease. She arrived on time, was communicative before and during the stay and left the house as she found it. Would definitely recommend and will book again!”

“Candiance took amazing care of our elderly, attention-addicted cat while we were out of town, making sure she got her meds in and sending regular updates. She was also very gracious when our flight was delayed by several hours and we were late getting back.”

“Katie was phenomenal. She picked up over a week of pet sitting when our sitter fell through a week before our departure. Our kids LOVED her frequent updates and photos. Katie even helped schedule and extra visit when snow interrupted our return.”

“As always Alexandra was amazing with my dog. He’s really warmed up to her and has started to enjoy her company and we can step out knowing he’s well taken care of.”

“Cassie was absolutely wonderful watching our high energy puppy for a long weekend at our place - she sent lots of photos which gave us peace of mind while we were out of town for a few days! Highly recommend Cassie as a trustworthy sitter for your pets :)”

“Susi is amazing! She took excellent care of Ellie. Our puppy enjoyed her time with Susi and we were well informed with constant pictures that made us feel happy and confident that she was having fun and in good hands. Would absolutely recommend and leave Ellie with her again”

“Michelle is the best! She's worked with my dog several times, and I will definitely hire her again. My dog Lucy loves Michelle, and she's not the easiest dog to care for. Michelle is compassionate and clearly a dog lover. She's also trustworthy and hard working.”
“Thank you for taking such great care of Bruce (again)! It is clear that you are kind and attentive and Bruce loves being around you considering how excited he was to see you again when you arrived! Lots of good updates while I was gone. You’re the best!”

“Celine was excellent! She stayed in our home for 5 days with our dog and cat, and was very thorough with their care, asked lots of good questions to make sure she was prepared and then sent us updates throughout each day. She went above and beyond to clean the space before heading out as well which was appreciated. We would absolutely work with her again!”

“Ariana was AMAZING! She stayed in our home and took care of our two pups. One that is an elder pup and requires medication. She took them on daily walks and left our home in perfect order. Ariana communicates well and our pups can’t wait to see her again. Highly recommend Ariana. 12 out of 10 stars!!”

“Jose took care of my dog, Yogi, for three days and stayed at my home while I was away. He was very responsive throughout the entire stay and consistently kept me updated with photos and messages from Yogi’s morning and evening walks. It gave me a lot of peace of mind knowing Yogi was being well cared for. Everything went smoothly, and Yogi was happy and comfortable when I returned. I really appreciated Jose’s communication, reliability, and attention to detail. I would absolutely book him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.”

About: I have grown up around dogs my entire life and now have two cats of my own. My family consistently had dogs for the first 25 years of my life whom I assisted with. My experience escalated when I volunteered at my local animal shelter where I walked the dogs and assisted with feeding. I have experience with puppies all the way to geriatric dogs, including overnights. I have a degree in pre-vet medicine as well as experience administering insulin to cats. I am a hybrid worker with flexible office days. I am able to chose when I go in therefore my availability is almost always open. I live in a city apartment and do not have the ability to house animals in my apartment. I have done overnight stays at clients apartments and feel very comfortable doing drop in visits and staying in clients apartments.
“Sierra stayed at my apartment in the BX to watch my 45lb rescue pittie for three weeks in May, and I highly recommend her! She was responsive and so generous coming all the way from NJ to meet my pup and me first and incredibly responsive before the day of. Every day she sent me text and/photo updates, and it was super clear my pup was very well cared for and loved. Coming back, pup was happy and healthy and the apartment was clean as I left it (thanks, Sierra!).”

“Mike’s stay with my pups, Amil and Café, was absolutely extraordinary! Truly incredible. It was so relaxing to be away knowing they were in the best hands. This was my first time ever hiring a dog sitter, and the experience couldn’t have been better. Mike kept amazing communication throughout the entire trip, sending photos and updates of everything going on, it really gave me so much peace of mind. Mike is the best! I’m already looking forward to my next trip so my dogs can have another amazing vacation with him!! 😄”

“Ana took wonderful care of my two cats and my dog, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. She stayed in our home while we were traveling, and from the very beginning, she really settled into our pets' routine. It was clear she took the time to learn how we do things and made sure their days stayed as normal and comfortable as possible. She is incredibly responsible, respectful, and an excellent communicator. One of the things I appreciated most was that she checked in with me every day—usually two or even three times—with updates, photos, and little messages about how everyone was doing. That gave me so much peace of mind because I never felt like I had to reach out or wonder if everything was okay. She always kept me informed. When I came home, my pets looked happy, relaxed, and well cared for, which says everything. It was obvious they felt safe, comfortable, and loved while we were away. I highly recommend Anna to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable pet sitter. She treated our pets like family, and I will absolutely be using her services again whenever we travel.”

10/10! Grace was wonderful and so accommodating to our unique situation. We needed someone to watch our dogs in our hotel room while we attended a local funeral service. Grace showed up early, took them for a walk, and kept us reassured with pictures and video updates throughout the stay. I highly recommend Grace and would definitely book with her again!

Adeanna took great care of Mizzy (and our house) when we needed a sitter. She was very diligent and communicative. We especially appreciated her flexibility when our flight was cancelled and needed to extend the booking. Mizzy was a happy camper when finally we got home!

Kobi was absolutely amazing with Duman! 🥹❤️ I felt so comfortable knowing he was in good hands. She kept me updated throughout the day, sent me lots of pictures, and really took great care of him. Duman was happy and well cared for, and that made me so happy too. 😊 I’m so thankful for her and would 100% trust her with Duman again. Highly recommend! 🐶❤️

Sofia was wonderful, she watched our two dogs for a week and house sit while we were away. She took great care of our girls and you could tell they enjoyed their time with her. She sent regular updates and photos which we of course loved to receive. She took great care of our home and we’d happily have her watch our girls and home again!!

Shiloh is the best. Within 5 minutes I felt like she was an old friend. Shiloh is warm, energetic, intelligent, loves dogs and life. She spent a week with my three dogs, from about 20 lbs. to 91 lbs. in our home and everything worked out great. She met our neighbors, followed all instructions and used her own experience when required. I highly recommend Shiloh. I hope to use her services in the near future and sure hope she is available!
Bria watched our senior dog, Winnie, for 1 night and was absolutely amazing!! She was very communicative before the booking and during her time with Winnie. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hoboken walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hoboken maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hoboken choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
