Pet care experience

Attentive care w/ fun uncle energy

I’ve been pet sitting and dog walking for over 10 years now, starting as favours to friends or looking after my family dog for her 16 years. At university I really missed the joyful presence of animals, so the moment I graduated, I sought out petsitting while I travelled around the UK with my remote job in Mental Health. I then moved to Bristol and set myself up on Rover so I could keep spending time with people’s lovely pets alongside part-time support work. Now that I’m in New York, I’m excited to look after pets full-time! I’ve always loved learning each dog’s mannerisms and what kind of structure they thrive in so we could both enjoy our time together. I take way too many photos (my camera roll is like an ASPCA ad, but happy) but I know how reassuring it can be to see how your pets interact with someone new. If you like the idea of a full-blown photo shoot so you can see the adventures we get up to, just let me know! Anyway, I’ve been very lucky to take care of dogs of various ages, sizes and temperaments so I am confident to cover the majority of pet care. If there is any concern over compatibility, I recommend a trial walk/drop-in to make sure I am the best fit for your pet. For example, with very large reactive dogs, please note that I am 5ft 3 and of average strength :D Please let me know if you have any questions about my experience or if you’d like to see more photos from past petsitting.

Safety, trust & environment

I treat other people’s homes with great care and make sure to leave the space as I found it. I will let the pets come to me when they’re ready and use treats if they’re particularly shy (with your permission). I know how difficult it can be to choose someone to let into your home, and with your beloved pet, so I’m more than happy to have a video call to introduce myself and for you to ask any questions. We can also set up a drop-in before the main booking if you would like to meet in person for complete peace of mind.

Such a relief to know your puppy is in safe hands whilst you are away. Catherine is amazing, she is attentive and definitely gives the time needed. We returned to a very happy dog who had loving walks, had been played with and had been given enough attention we weren’t missed! Such a lovely sitter who showed great care and consideration- we will definitely book again. Not forgetting a thanks from the cat too - always overlooked 🫣

Schedule

My routine is currently very flexible so I am completely available across weekdays and weekends. I will be petsitting on Rover full-time so I can give your pets the energy and attention they deserve. On occasions when I can’t rearrange plans with a friend, I will ask you whether you’d prefer me to leave your pet at your home for a couple of hours or if you’re comfortable with a new person meeting (and probably falling in love with) your pup. For pets who cannot be left alone at all I would just need to make sure I have no other bookings or commitments and discuss any necessary price adjustments depending on the extent of their additional care.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Catherine can host up to 3 drop-ins per day
Please let me know if your dog has any additional needs or behaviours to look out for. For example, being particularly nervous around a specific breed of dog or type of person. It’s also good to have an idea of their routine and if they’ve been trained with particular commands/phrases so I can keep this consistent. I will also ask about their preferred forms of play, how long they’re comfortable being left alone etc. For shy cats, let me know if they’re the type that likes attention but needs some treats to encourage them or if they prefer to approach if/when they desire.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
