“Jenid had excellent communication, she took great care of my dogs, and she was respectful of my apartment. You can tell she has experience working with dogs and that this isn’t just a random side hustle for her; Jenid cares about the dogs and her clients. I would definitely book with Jenid again!”

“Dong was super nice and was amazing with Lily, he brought her out on loads of walks and sent us plenty of pictures and videos throughout the evening. Would highly recommend!!”

“Hugh is our every week sitter for our little pup! He’s been amazing with Sesame, and has helped with Sesame’s development training while he’s watching him!”

“Jolea is so kind and communicative! She wanted to know all about Astro and his routine and I can tell he really enjoyed her company! He gets separation anxiety when we’re gone but he was in a great mood with Jolea. She was a great house sitter! We would absolutely recommend her to anyone and we would love to have her back!”

“She’s amazing. Always on time and reliable. Very communicative at all times. And my dog absolutely adores her. I could not give higher praise. And highly recommend for all services”

“Chyanne is fantastic! I felt at ease knowing my babies (a dog and 2 kitties) were at home with her. Chyanne housesitted them for 2 and was very responsive, provided timely updates, and was overall very thoughtful. She checked in on them often, played with my dog in the back yard and followed the care instructions I gave her. Chyanne went above and beyond when taking care of my babies and I would definitely book her again in the future!”

“Overall, I couldn't have been happier with Brandon's services. He provided excellent care for my dog and gave me peace of mind while we were away. I’d highly recommend Brandon to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy dog sitter.”
“She took care of my dog as best as she could and in the most horrible time crunch. The one thing i can say is that my dog was pleased with her and I was pleased with her. Will definitely use her services again.”

“Ana took wonderful care of my two cats and my dog, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. She stayed in our home while we were traveling, and from the very beginning, she really settled into our pets' routine. It was clear she took the time to learn how we do things and made sure their days stayed as normal and comfortable as possible. She is incredibly responsible, respectful, and an excellent communicator. One of the things I appreciated most was that she checked in with me every day—usually two or even three times—with updates, photos, and little messages about how everyone was doing. That gave me so much peace of mind because I never felt like I had to reach out or wonder if everything was okay. She always kept me informed. When I came home, my pets looked happy, relaxed, and well cared for, which says everything. It was obvious they felt safe, comfortable, and loved while we were away. I highly recommend Anna to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable pet sitter. She treated our pets like family, and I will absolutely be using her services again whenever we travel.”

“We had a great experience with Fernando. It was our first experience with Rover and the first time leaving Oscar with a sitter, so we were nervous. Fernando put us at ease from the initial meet and greet. He was super responsive, punctual, and took the time to really learn about Oscar’s habits. He sent numerous updates and photos each day, so we never wondered how things were going. Oscar also takes multiple medications, and Fernando handled that seamlessly.”

“Andrew was fantastic with our senior dog for an overnight stay. He was very kind and communicative and I felt at ease with him watching our dog. Would definitely recommend him!”

“Kate was great with our labradoodle puppy! Got tons of photos and video update, communication was easy, she arrived early and was well prepared. Would be delighted to book her again.”

“Adrian was absolutely amazing and understanding with the needs of my cats. He provided thorough recaps of his time with them and asked tons of questions ahead of time to best understand how to provide for them. Will absolutely be rebooking again when I need”

“Great communication before and during the booking! Jocelyn is very friendly and was amazing with my puppy! I would 100% recommend and use her again, thank you!”

“Vex was wonderful! Vex took great care of my two cats who have been a little skittish after flying cross country. Vex was attentive, punctual, kind and took good care of my kitties. They were very happy with Vex who also left my apartment very tidy and sent lots of photos! I will definitely book Vex again!”

“Katherine is fantastic! She took such great care of our dog and cat, Moose and Mister. Her communication was excellent, she sent us updates regularly, and the boys loved her. Can’t recommend Katherine enough.”

“Sierra stayed at my apartment in the BX to watch my 45lb rescue pittie for three weeks in May, and I highly recommend her! She was responsive and so generous coming all the way from NJ to meet my pup and me first and incredibly responsive before the day of. Every day she sent me text and/photo updates, and it was super clear my pup was very well cared for and loved. Coming back, pup was happy and healthy and the apartment was clean as I left it (thanks, Sierra!).”

“Winston loves Michelle and so do I!! I have to travel for work so much and it is so great to have someone reliable and consistent for him - the most important thing for him is TLC (and food and potty) and she gives it 100%. Cannot thank Michelle enough for caring so much for my pup!”

Bria watched our senior dog, Winnie, for 1 night and was absolutely amazing!! She was very communicative before the booking and during her time with Winnie. She sent lots of pics and videos and followed all the care instructions to a T! We really felt like Winnie was in good hands. Thank you so much, Bria!! I will definitely book again!

We had such a great experience with Julia! She was caring, responsible, and clearly loves dogs. She kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. Dexter was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone wonderful to care for their dog! 🐾❤️

Great sitter. My dog bonded well with her and Karishma was very attentive and sweet with my puppy . He is a very active and he needs great amount of attention and Karishma made sure he was comfortable and she took him on mentioned number of walks and my puppy was really attached and happy with her by the end of the day. Would definitely consider and recommend her for future sitting requirements.

We’ve been on Rover for the last 6 years, and have had 10+ care takers care for Luna over that time. Out of all those experiences, Jocelyn stands out miles above!! She was more than a dog sitter for Luna, and loved and cared for her like her own pet! She gave her all her time — taking her for multiple long walks, playing with her, cuddling with her. We know all this because she sent us multiple video updates while doing this! We would hire Jocelyn any time to care for Luna, and be worry-free through our travels! Sooo happy to have found Jocelyn!

Soulach was fantastic! We were looking for someone on relatively short notice and she was so quick to respond, to set up a time to meet our dog and cat, and was excellent at communication the entire way through the end of our trip. Our dog loved her off the bat, and our cat, who can take some time to warm up to people, seemed to have a great time with her. Can’t recommend Soulach enough!

As of August 2026, there are 19,248 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Jersey City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Jersey City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Jersey City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Jersey City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
