About: What sets me apart as a sitter is my patience and my ability to adapt to each dog’s individual needs. I have hands-on experience caring for my own dogs as well as dogs belonging to friends and acquaintances while they were traveling. I am especially comfortable caring for senior dogs and dogs with cardiac conditions. I understand the importance of routine, close observation, and giving medications carefully and on time. I always follow the owner’s instructions in detail to ensure each dog’s health and well-being. I also have experience working with puppies. I know how to keep them engaged with age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors, while maintaining structure and safety. In addition, I have some experience with positive reinforcement training, focusing on patience, consistency, and encouragement rather than punishment. My goal is to provide calm, attentive, and loving care so every dog feels safe, understood, and well cared for. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I work remotely and manage my own schedule, which allows me to be flexible and fully available to meet each pet’s needs. I have plenty of time to provide attention, regular walks, playtime, and any additional care a dog may require throughout the day. I’m able to adapt my routine to match the pet’s usual schedule, whether that involves frequent breaks, quiet companionship, or more active moments. Most importantly, I truly enjoy the company of animals and value the time spent with them, making pet care not just a responsibility, but something I genuinely love doing. Safety and trust are my top priorities when caring for pets in my home. I always take the time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and specific needs before welcoming them into my space. Pets in my care stay in a calm, clean, and secure environment where they can feel comfortable and relaxed. I closely supervise them, maintain consistent feeding and walking schedules, and make sure they always have access to fresh water and a safe space to rest. I follow all owner instructions carefully, including feeding routines, medications, and any special care requirements. I pay close attention to details and adapt my care to each pet’s needs, whether they require extra patience, a quieter environment, or more frequent check-ins. I prioritize gentle handling, patience, and positive reinforcement at all times, and I keep owners updated with messages and photos so they can feel confident knowing their pet is in responsible and caring hands.
“I am a repeat customer. Dong is very reliable when it comes to trusting him with my dog. He is professional, punctual and poilte with me and my dog. I definitely would book again and recommend him to other clients as well.”

“Alison was incredibly patient with my new rescue dog, Olive, who tends to need a bit of time to warm up to people. She took some time to give Olive some treats and get to know her prior to taking her out for the walk which was so appreciated! I am excited to have her take Olive on more walks.”

“Sydney was great with Atlas. She was punctual, professional, personable and a went above and beyond to ensure my pup was comfortable and enjoyed his walk with her.”

About: I’ve taken care of my own 3 Pomeranians and 1 cat for about 5 years now. Whatever services you require are probably tasks that I’ve experienced and would be comfortable doing. My dogs are my super spoiled best friends, and I can’t wait to meet yours! I am able and available just about everyday to walk or dog sit and can work it pretty easily around my schedule as needed or requested. I walk dogs, play with them, can give medicine as directed, feed them, and just hang out with them. I am kind, gentle, and will care for your dogs with the utmost patience and respect.
“10/10 would highly recommend! My pup was not easy to handle but Kate and Alex’s experience is top tier! Would definitely be booking again in the near future”

“Alicia is amazing! My dog loved her so much upon meeting, and she was an absolute life saver when I left for vacation. She is prompt, always updates with many photos, and let’s you know everything! She is definitely my permanent dog walker from now on.”

About: I grew up with two dogs, so I learned how to take care of dogs starting at a young age. As a kid, I trained my own dogs basic commands and tricks and walked them. I now have a dog of my own, a sweet rescue pup named Olive, who is my entire world. I work from home from 9 to 5 on weekdays and have plenty of time to spend with pups! My pet care schedule is very flexible. I am available for walks either before or after work, around lunchtime, and on weekends. I will follow any special instructions to suit your dog’s needs. I have experience with anxious dogs and know that some pups may take a little bit of time and patience to be comfortable!
“Shaina is so kind and patient with the pups as they got used to her for the first day or two. One of my dogs can be moody and she handled him with grace and patience until he was comfortable. Highly recommend!”

About: I am new to Rover but I am not new to loving and caring for the best creatures this planet has to offer! There are genuinely not enough words to express my love for the beings that love us more than we could ever fathom! I have two cats currently and one of my babies is a senior cat I recently adopted at 9 years old. She has lung issues and I’ve been navigating taking care of her needs while showing both of my babies the attention they deserve. I also had a dog for 13 years before that and he was / will always be the love of my life. I currently work part time and go to school full time but my schedule is very organized and because of school I have the time to hang out with the fur babies while doing school work or finishing up assignments in between so it is a win/win! My care for any pet starts with love! When taking care of our dearest I assess what they need along with any specific instructions that were given. With animals you follow their lead and go with the flow that they give you. Not over thinking and just enjoying the furry friend I have the pleasure of spending time with really sums everything up.
About: I love cats and dogs, so no matter what kind of furry friends you have, we will enjoy our time together! I'm a professional dancer working in the mental health field, so I understand how important our animals can be to our lives. I am mostly free on the weekends, but I am also free after work ends at 5pm. I am very good at engaging the animals when necessary and calming them when needed, too! I have two cats at home and have taken very good care of them. I know the psychology of introducing two animals so they get along together. I had a dog when I was younger and took him on many walks. Although he was small, I have pet sat for chocolate labs and poodles, so I have experience with all kinds of animals! Do not hesitate to ask me any questions! I'd be happy to look after your pets! I have two 10 month old kittens that are brother and sister, so I feed them and take care of them every day. I have a whole set up with scratching posts, cat couches, and more to make them feel at home. I always ensure to keep unsafe objects and foods out of the reach of animals. This includes any personal items like medications. I also ensure to calmly redirect any unwanted behavior in the home through play.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats all throughout my life and enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality and routine. Over the years I’ve cared for pets belonging to family, friends, and loved ones, including a wide variety of animals with wildly different temperaments, ages, and care needs. Most recently, I dog sat for my girlfriend’s three-legged rescue dog for over two weeks while her and her family were away for a relative’s college graduation. Because of the traumatic experience of getting a leg amputated, he is quite afraid of people (other than my girlfriend), so building a trusting relationship with him through patience, consistency and loving interactions was an extremely necessary and rewarding part in order for the two weeks we spent together to be a successful and positive experience for both of us! I also cared for my friend’s two rescue cats for three and a half weeks while he was away. My responsibilities included feeding them, providing fresh water, cleaning and scooping the litter boxes daily, cleaning up after them, spending time playing with them, and making sure they were over just happy, healthy, and comfortable throughout my friend’s absence. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and any special instructions. Whether it’s walks, feeding, administering basic medications, playtime, or simply providing companionship, I’ll care for your pets as if they were my own and I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away! I am currently looking for a full-time position, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to provide pet care throughout the day. I’m available mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and many holidays, and I’m often able to accommodate last-minute requests. I will always work to fit your pet’s normal routine and provide dependable, punctual, and attentive care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine and carefully follow all feeding schedules, medication instructions, walking routines, and any special care requests. I treat every client’s home with respect, keeping it clean, secure, and exactly as I found it. I’ll provide regular photo and text updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away, and I’ll make sure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and patient, loving care.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Jersey City
Great experience! Our dog walker was reliable, communicative, and very caring with Sienna. He always kept us updated. We really appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog walker.

Kelly was amazing! She walked my dog 6 times over a weekend and was on time, reliable, and brought great energy every single visit. She kept me constantly updated with videos, which made being away so much easier. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking her again!

Alexandra stayed at my place and took such good care of my dog (and my place). She sent daily updates and sent pics of their adventures throughout her stay. I found her on Rover and chose her based on reviews. I had an emergency situation so I could not meet her in person and instead we had a video chat. I couldn’t recommend her enough! My pup loved her. Would highly recommend her to others. Thank you!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
