About: I keep a good balance between walk time and sniff time, I always make sure they at least go pee before we finish our walk! I’m currently overnight sitting a cat but I am around between 9am and 5pm! I can also do before 8:30am or after 5:30pm if needed I make sure to assess the personality of the friend I am meeting, and do whatever is needed to make sure they’re good for the day
“Sydney has been awesome! Our pup truly seems to enjoy his time with her and he’s well taken care of in our absence. We appreciate Sydney’s help as our pup adjusts to us not being home more regularly.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 14 years and have loved animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I had a Havanese, a Maltipoo, and a Spaniel, which gave me experience with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Since then, I’ve cared for the pets of friends and neighbors, including overnight stays and daily walks. I’m comfortable caring for puppies, senior dogs (including a 19-year-old!), and anxious dogs who need extra patience and reassurance. I can administer oral medications, bathe dogs, clean up accidents, and always follow each pet’s routine closely. My favorite thing about dogs is how curious they are, and I love getting to know each one’s unique personality. Pet care is something I genuinely look forward to—it gives me the opportunity to spend time with dogs, which I’ve missed since moving to New York. I’m a graduate student with a pretty flexible schedule. I’m available most afternoons and evenings and do my best to accommodate each family’s schedule. Whether your pet needs a walk after work, a drop-in visit, or overnight care, I’m committed to providing reliable care and clear communication throughout your booking. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, their safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I’ll carefully follow your instructions, keep them active and engaged, and make sure they feel comfortable while you’re away. I know leaving your pet with someone else requires trust, so communication is incredibly important to me. You can expect frequent updates throughout the day—including morning and evening check-ins and lots of photos—so you’ll always know how your pet is doing. I’m also happy to bring in mail or packages, water plants, and help keep your home just as you left it.
“Sophia was amazing with Loxi while I was away. She would come greet her every night and play with her as she got her ready for her walk. My doggie who is normally pretty sad when I am away was playful and happy the whole time in large part due to Sophia!!! :) From the meet and greet to the end of my vacation, Sophia put in so much care, attention and love into caring for my doggy I cannot express how much I appreciate it and and so grateful so her to have been cared for so well while I was away. I would definitely have Sophia walk my doggy again anytime!!”

“I was in a bind because my Dogwalker called in sick at that last minute and Nikki & Chris stepped in and took Maggie for her walks!! They were so attentive and kind, I’d definitely consider using them again! Highly recommend!!”

“Brismar has been walking our 4-month-old puppy and the puppy loves it. The reports we get back are helpful, like today “she is more obedient now, maybe because she trusts me more” and “I got a lot of kisses.””

“Mariele was an absolute lifesaver! She was so flexible even though I gave her little notice. She was so sweet with my babies and really eased my mind while I was away.”

“Jose did a great job with Brody! He’s very conscientious of making sure that Brody is getting a safe walk through the city! Can’t wait to use him more and Brody loved the attention that Jose gave him!”
“I can’t recommend Rachael enough! She is incredibly thoughtful, caring, and attentive. From the moment she started watching Leo, I knew he was in the best hands. She genuinely looks out for him, pays attention to his needs, and treats him like he’s her own. Leo absolutely loves her, and I’m so grateful to have found someone who cares for him so genuinely!”

“Britni is super helpful, responsive, and kind! My dog was shy to warm up to her but she has earned her trust quickly and thoughtfully! We will be definitely rebooking Britni!”

About: I grew up with three dogs, all over 80 pounds, and walked them daily. We also spent a lot of time hiking together, so I'm comfortable handling dogs with plenty of energy. I'm stronger than I look and confident managing larger dogs while keeping walks safe, fun, and enjoyable. I understand the importance of patience, consistency, and making sure every dog gets the exercise, attention, and care they deserve. Whether your dog loves long walks, hikes, or a slower-paced stroll, I'll make sure they feel comfortable and well cared for. I'm currently on summer break from college, so I have a very flexible schedule and can accommodate a wide range of pet care needs. Whether you need morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend care, I'm happy to work with your schedule. I value being reliable, punctual, and making sure each pet gets the time, attention, and care they deserve. Because I live in an apartment, I'm not able to board pets in my own home. However, I'm happy to provide care in a client's home, where pets can stay comfortable in their familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. I carefully follow each owner's instructions for feeding, walks, medications, playtime, and any special needs. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and treat every pet with patience, kindness, and respect. My goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while giving owners peace of mind that their pets are in good hands.
“Anna was absolutely incredible to work with! She was so kind and caring with my older dog and went above and beyond to send pictures and updates throughout her walks with him. I would highly recommend her and would definitely book her again!”

About: DOG EXPERIENCE: I have been a supportive and loyal dog auntie for 7+ years to many of my closest friends! I have brought their dogs to my home, boarded at theirs, and provided ad hoc walking assistance and play sessions whenever needed for them. CAT EXPERIENCE: I am a lifelong cat parent! I had 2 cats growing up, both of which lived 10+ years with me in my childhood home! After moving to New York, my roommate and I co-parented her cat during our time together until she whisked him away to his permanent vacation home in SF. After moving into my own apartment, I adopted a 1 year old Tuxie who was FELV+. Caring for a cat with special health issues taught me how to be deeply attuned to appetite changes, litter habits, hydration, anxiety, etc. I also developed special skills such as administering various types of medications. While he unfortunately succumbed to his illness last year, I was able to adopt 2 three month old kitten siblings from the same shelter! I have learned through them the dynamics between male vs. female behaviors, post-surgery care with their spay and neuter, and navigating their growth spurts and the varying energy levels of young kittens. I have grown to truly understand what cats need most to thrive in their environments: routines, consistent play time and enrichment, reassurance, and just someone to feel fully safe with. What really drives me to pursue pet sitting is that I have had past experiences with sitters looking after my own pets that have not been satisfying, and since then I’ve been committed to providing support that is punctual and to a tee to the instructions given. I am primarily available on weekends Friday - Sunday at any given time needed starting from 6AM to as late as 11PM. There is flexibility on Mondays through Thursdays post 6PM based on the service required I understand how crucial it is to abide by your pets’ regular routine to a tee. New people are already anxiety-inducing and stressful for them as it is! When it comes to my own cats, I feed them 3x a day by my own hand, with snacks set up on an auto feeder twice a day. Cats need at least 30 mins of enrichment and novelty a day, so I typically play with them and introduce something new in the mornings and at night right before bed. I scoop their litter box 3x a day as well. I can also assist with any grooming needs such a nail clipping, teeth brushing, etc. For dogs, I have always walked them 3x a day for my friends and given at least 10 mins of playtime post walks.
“Freya is so understanding and patient with our baby, Kuma. He can be stubborn on walks, and 100 pounds of stubborn is not easy. She stayed calm and gentle and made sure he was comfortable. She communicated very well and made me feel that Kuma was safe with her.”

“Alyssa was a fantastic dog walker and last minute addition to Tucker’s schedule! Reliable, communicative, and easy to work with. I loved all of the pictures and she gave my pup extra love and care! Highly recommend!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - New York
We are very pleased with our first experience with Charlotte! She was very communicative, which I appreciated and sent regular updates during her visit with our two pups. Everything went well on their walk and she was even able to handle our jack russell who is very skittish with new people! We will definitely be reaching out to book with her again.

This was our first time having someone walk our little boy Mars and Isaac exceeded our expectations. He is an all around awesome person and helped us to feel very relaxed while we were on our vacation. He also sent very detailed reports and pictures of every walk. He made sure to keep Mars safe and not let him over heat when the weather was too hot. As far as our family is concerned, Isaac isn't our dog walker but instead will be known as Uncle Isaac to Mars. He really took exceptional care of our little guy and we couldn't be more appreciative for that.

Mariele was the BEST with Leia. She is an incredible person, the sweetest ever. She gave me SO MANY updates and a detail description every time they were on a walk. She was so patient with Leia and always put her needs first making sure she was never too hot, had enough water and treats!!! The best.

Caden took such good care of my Ollie. He was very communicative and sent pictures of him while on their walks. He was very responsive and made sure Ollie was good to be home for a few hours like filling his water and making sure he eats. Caden will definitely be a regular for us now!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
