“Sophia was great! She called before accepting to check all the requirements for the week looking after my cat Teacup. She was super professional, very responsive and I would 100% book her again!”

“Genevieve was a fantastic cat sitter. Besides being professional and accommodating—she took my booking on extremely short notice when an urgent out-of-town meeting came up—she was remarkably attentive. I received wonderful photos of my cat, Misha, as well as detailed updates on his eating and behavior. She made me feel confident that he was well cared for. I would absolutely book Genevieve again for any pet of mine. She's a superb communicator with a real gift for connecting with animals.”

“Elisabeth took such great care of my dog, Meadow, while I was away for the weekend. I was able to enjoy my trip not having to worry and knowing she would show her lots of love. She gave great pictures and notes as well.”

“George was the best! Super reliable, problem solved while we were away, and even cleaned up some cat puke. We are so happy we found someone in the area who takes such good care of our cats. Highly recommend!”

“Carter took care of our cat, Lola, for a week while we were away and did a wonderful job. He communicated consistently, gave her supplements without issue, and made sure she got plenty of TLC. He even helped with a few extra things around the apartment, which we really appreciated. It was clear he’s a cat person. We would happily book him again.”

“Hannah went above and beyond to take care of a skittish cat who has a hard time handling separation. Prompt and detailed feedback, clear concern for the wellbeing of the pet. Would very much want her to pet sit for us again.”

“Gio took amazing care of Fleetwood and Hugo, was very detail oriented, communicative, and caring. I really appreciate all of the detail he provided about their visit, and how he was sure to follow my instructions super closely. He is very sweet with them and they clearly like him. We will definitely use Gio again in the future!”

“We hadn't used Rover or had a long-term cat sitter before, and we didn't know what to expect - Rosanna went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for! From the start, we felt confident our two cats were in the best of care, and her updates made it clear our cats were thriving with her. We missed them so much while we were away but knew we did not need to worry about a thing. We cannot recommend Rosanna enough!”

“Gabriela was a wonderful sitter for my 10 year old cat! She hung out with him with genuine care and attentiveness, and paid perfect attention to the instructions I left. I came back to a very clean apartment and a happy cat :) We are eager to have her sit for us again!”

“Mary is a fantastic cat sitter! She was so communicative & so great with my cat! She fed him, cleaned his litter, and played so much with him!! I also got so many great photos :)”

“Brianna was amazing. Quick to respond to texts and very understanding about my cat being a bit shy and never tried to force her out to play. Would highly recommend Brianna for all your sitting needs!”

“Vanessa was a wonderful and attentive sitter. She sent very informative updates via video and visited our cat with care and compassion. She was very communicative and went above and beyond to support us while we were away. She also was very accommodating to have ventured out during the snow storm - and we were so appreciative of that. I’m so grateful to have found Vanessa and hope to become a repeat client!! Thank you Vanessa!”

“Lauren was such an amazing sitter! I was anxious about leaving my kitten alone for the first time, however Lauren would always send me pictures and updates on how everything was going. She would respond as soon as i texted and was such a sweet person. I’m glad i found her on here!”

“Mariele was amazing with my cats - clearly had played with them and gave them attention. When we got home they seemed at such ease, not desperate for attention like they usually are. Thank you!”

“This was our first time having Britni take care of our two kitties and it was at short notice with a fairly recent tweak to their food/medicine regimen - so much so we weren’t sure we’d keep the trip on the books. Britni took great care of them and was very diligent and communicative both ahead of and during the visits to ensure that all was well, we had great peace of mind knowing she was so ‘on it’. The updates and pics were consistent and appreciated - both cats really took to her and seemed very happy and relaxed. We’re really glad to have a great new sitter to call on!”

“Erin is fantastic with our two Norwegian Forest Cats and visits them on a regular basis. They can be quite anxious when we go away and one of them has meds mixed into her food but Erin handles them with such affection and care that we never worry about leaving them with her.”

Shriya was fantastic with my cat, Moss! She was so attentive and communicative and provides regular updates and the videos and photos really put my mind at ease. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the cats she looks after. Moss was happy and well taken care of, and I’d absolutely book Shriya again in the future. Highly recommend!

Christopher was great! He visited my two cats twice a day while I was out of town for a week and sent videos and picture updates of each visits. My cats can take a little time to warm up to people but they loved having him stop by. Would definitely recommend Christopher!

Peih was a stellar sitter who provided flawless care for my cat, Sofie. Right before I left for my trip, Sofie got sick and things became very stressful for me. I was so worried about leaving her for so long, and I felt bad writing up such a long list of instructions for a new sitter, but Peih followed all of it perfectly. Great communication the whole time. Gave Sofie her meds. She even went the extra mile sending progress videos of her training Sofie with her inhaler. If you want to know your pet is in safe hands while you're away, I highly recommend Peih. ❤️

Christopher was so reliable, punctual, and kind to my Arthur (cat)! He is super trustworthy and always sends detailed updates, pictures, etc. He responds quickly to text messages and I can’t recommend him enough! Extremely grateful that he took such great care of my Arthur kitty!

Morgan is incredible! She took wonderful care of my cat while I was away on a work trip, following all instructions carefully, keeping everything clean, and most importantly - giving him lots of love and playtime. She’s thoughtful and communicative, sending photos during every visit so I could relax knowing he was in good hands. Looking forward to booking her again! :)

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New York. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
