“Outstanding cat sitter. During a long trip I was on, Ryan sent me photos, videos, and reports that made me feel reassured that my cat was okay and warmed my heart. He played with him and took care of everything on the list. Highly recommend.”

“Eileen was super friendly and communicative. She gave our more outgoing cat all of the attention she wanted, and she even made our our much more shy cat feel comfortable enough to come out of hiding for some pets! We've had sitters tell us that they didn't see our shy girl all week, so it's a big deal that she was ready to come out and meet Eileen after only three days!”

“Martina always goes above and beyond—including ensuring my cats were safe by cleaning up a mirror that shattered while I was gone and clipping their nails for me! Always so communicative and sends lots of pictures and videos. I know my cats are happy to see her every time!”

“Leta took fantastic care of my cat Kiki while I was away for the holidays. She was very easy to communicate with and punctual for our meet and greet before the visits. She also sent plenty of pictures and helpful updates with each visit. I highly recommend Leta!”

“Can’t say enough great things—even referred her to one of my best friends! My Pumpkin is so happy when Tatyana is around, and she gets the sweetest care during her visits. Will book her time and again.”

“Monica took amazing care of Cashew, she was attentive and super good communicator every step of the way! Thank you for everything Monica! I would recommend Monica to all pet lovers :)”

“Joyce was AMAZING! We were out of town for a week and she followed the instructions we left and was great at communicating how they were doing. One of my cats is quite nervous and seemed to warm right up to her, was such a relief knowing my cats were being well cared for while I was away. Will be my go to sitter in the future!”

“Kaila was extremely sweet and professional. She was super cool with stopping by before the booking so Aurora (and us) could meet her. We felt super comfortable going in our 2-week trip and having Kaila stopping by every other day to play with Aurora. She sent us pics, was very communicative, and Aurora really loved her - which means tons for us! We feel so good to have found Kaila, so for any upcoming trips we already know that Aurora will be in good hands!”

“Monique did a wonderful job checking in on and feeding our cat for a long weekend while we were away. It was our first time leaving him so we were a bit nervous, and Monique really came through for us (at the last minute as well!). She is warm and communicative, and most importantly our cat seems to love her.”

“Adolfo was extremely considerate and helpful! Adolfo came to watch our cats on short notice during a holiday week. Adolfo made sure our cats were taken care of & ensured everything was set up so we’d have peace of mind!”

“Jacqueline is an amazing and reliable sitter. I’ve been using her for years and she has always taken wonderful care of my cats. I highly and enthusiastically endorse her services.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Manhattan
Melissa was an excellent sitter for our cat! She was thoughtful and responsive throughout our time away. We felt so relieved knowing our cat was in such caring hands. We’re so grateful for the wonderful, considerate care she provided and would happily book with her again!

Eileen took wonderful care of my 3 year old cat while I was away. She was responsible, communicative, and made sure my cat got lots of attention and pets. I also appreciated how clean and tidy she kept my apartment. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Shane was great. She was a great communicator throughout the whole time and i’m very fortunate to have had her as Bananas sitter. She went out of her way to care for him and communicate how he was doing every visit. Will be booking her again. Thank you, Shane!

Angelique was an INCREDIBLE sitter for our 15 week old kitten that we were nervous to leave for the first time. She was always on time for her check ins, provided thorough updates and pictures each visit, and gave Benny so much love and play time while we were away. She was also extremely attentive to the detailed instructions we left her which was critical due to his strict medication timing and protocol. I wholeheartedly trust Angelique and will rebook her for all future trips!

Abigail was amazing! She took notes when she came over for key pick up and managed to get the routine despite me being all over the place explaining. She provided detailed cards after each visit and was extremely helpful when our sweet boy got a little sick while we were away.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
