“Hannah has been such a help to us! She took the time to get to know our reactive dog and ran to get dog food for us when our food delivery sent a smaller bag than usual. She is sweet, attentive, and patient. Until next time- thanks again!!”
“Connor is an excellent sitter. He's very thoughtful and attentive to our pets needs (love, attention, walks, sniffs), and our needs (lots of adorable dog pics). He's very respectful and also top notch on the house sitting front as well. We are looking forward to having Connor watch our boys again soon (and I know they feel the same)!”

“Desiree was wonderful with Scooby! He clearly loved spending time with her, and they seemed to have a great time together. She was great with communication, kept me updated, and was very caring and attentive. Would absolutely book with her again!”

“Caroline was exceptional. She took wonderful care of my senior dog that required daily medication. I received tons of pictures and videos and most importantly, she developed a very sweet relationship with my dog. I would book her again in a heartbeat.”

“This was my first time using Wei for house sitting and I couldn’t be happier! She took good care of my dog and was awfully sweet with her (and my assertive cat, too!).”

“Iliana was fantastic with Paco and Roxy and very professional and responsive in every way! This was my first experience with Rover and she not only provided me the comfort I needed but set the bar incredibly high! Paco ran to her as she was leaving to say goodbye which was super sweet and adorable. We feel lucky to have her with the kids!”

“Ruojia was so great! She was so good about keeping us updated on our dog. She took great care of him and he always looked so happy in the pictures :)”

“Adam is a fantastic sitter and walker - would highly recommend! Extremely communicative and responsive, and was very patient with my active dog. Adam took the time to understand my dog’s unique needs and did everything he could to make sure my dog was as happy and comfortable as possible.”

“Michelle was fantastic with our sweet/complicated rescue. She gave her a puzzle toy to keep her occupied and Patti even hung out in the same room instead of hiding which is a first for a new person!”

“My dog Howie had an amazing time with Chelsea! She was attentive, communicative, and clearly wonderful with him. I got plenty of photos and updates, and came home to a very happy, relaxed pup. I’ll definitely be booking again!”

“Ammon has been a great help in house visits for our two puppies on a number of occasions in a number of clutch times for us and we are so appreciative of the stellar service and super fast response rates.”

“Mirian was fantastic with our senior dog while we took a family trip abroad for a special occasion. We were able to truly enjoy our time away knowing that Nugget was getting lots of love, cuddles, and attentive care while we were gone. Mirian was punctual, detail-oriented, highly engaged, asked great questions about food and medication schedules, and overall made us feel very confident that we were leaving Nugget (and our apartment) in safe and capable hands. We enjoyed the photos and communication while we were away, and we were grateful to come home to our boy to find him happy and like he hadn't even skipped a beat. Highly recommend!”

“Abigail did a fantastic job watching over my cat with both drop-ins and a one week housesit! Came home to a very happy and healthy cat and she left my apartment in excellent condition. I fully recommend booking Abigail, and definitely plan to hire her again in the future!”

“Harley was amazing! Our original sitter canceled super last minute, and she stepped in to help us over the long weekend. She took such great care of Nala, gave her lots of love and attention, kept us updated regularly, and left the house clean and well cared for. We were so grateful she was able to help on such short notice and would absolutely book with her again!”
“Arianna was so accommodating, I booked last minute and she showed up. She took great care of Paris my Great Dane and was very attentive to her. She followed the instructions I gave for paris care and paris had No anxiety when I left her. I will be utilizing her services regularly..”

“Nataly did an amazing job looking after my 10 week old puppy Pixie! This was my first time leaving her for a longer stretch of time since getting her but Nataly made me feel so at ease - it’s clear she loves animals so much and Pixie had a great time hanging out with her.”

“Briana is so amazing that I had zero worries about her staying at my apartment and watching my dog while I was out of town for a week. During her meet and greet, she was so professional and clearly demonstrated that she knew exactly how deal with my dogs temperament. While I was away, she communicated regularly and was willing to go up and beyond her responsibility of watching my dog. My dog also was able to establish a bond and trust with her pretty quickly as well, which isn’t easy for most people to achieve because my dog is a rescue and has anxiety around new people. Briana good at what she does and I will be utilizing her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Manhattan
We had a great experience with him! We have three dogs, so it’s definitely a lot to manage, but he did such a great job taking care of all of them. He sent us lots of pictures and updates, which was really reassuring while we were away. He also kept our house clean and tidy. Our dogs were happy and well taken care of when we got home. Would definitely book him again and highly recommend him!

Having just arrived in New York and need last minute dog sitting for an evening, I could not have found Mint at a better time. Ahead of the visit he was quick to respond, communicative, patient (with my setting up my account for NY) and flexible. He showed up on time, texted a few times w/ updates and gave a full report when I was back. Most importantly my dog loved him! Would highly recommend as his experience shows through. Thanks again!

I can't recommend Julia enough! I always struggle leaving my cat Oliver and he can get sad and anxious when I'm away, but I came home this weekend to find him as peaceful and happy as could be, which doesn't always happen. It's such a relief to have someone who's genuinely loving and attentive with him, and who gets to see just how special he is. Thank you so much again Julia! ❤️

I couldn't be happier with the care Danielle provided for my dog, Garth. Since he's older, new to me, and still working through some anxiety, I felt much more comfortable having him stay at home. Danielle was incredible from the start. She took her time getting to know him and carefully followed all of my instructions. On the first day, Garth was understandably anxious, but she kept in constant communication with me and did everything possible to keep him calm and reassured. When I came back home, he was completely relaxed and everything was in great shape. I will definitely be reaching out to her again the next time I need a sitter.

Sydney was absolutely wonderful with Xena and Luna while I was away in Thailand for 19 days. Being gone for almost three weeks, I really wanted someone I could trust not only with my pets but also with my home, and Sydney gave me such peace of mind the entire time. She took amazing care of Xena and Luna, kept me updated while I was away, and I never had to worry about how they were doing. It was obvious when I got home that they had been happy, comfortable, and very well cared for — which means everything to me. Sydney is kind, dependable, trustworthy, and clearly genuinely cares about the animals she watches. I’m so grateful to her for taking such good care of my little family while I was halfway around the world. I would absolutely have her stay with Xena and Luna again and recommend her without hesitation! 🐶🐱❤️

Yin was wonderful! She was incredibly kind, easygoing, and a pleasure to work with. She not only took excellent care of my cat, Greta, but also formed a real attachment to her. I received daily photos, videos, and updates, and knowing how loving and attentive Yin was with Greta gave me the reassurance I needed to truly relax and enjoy my long overseas trip. I came home to a very happy cat! I would absolutely invite Yin to care for Greta again and highly recommend her.

Ashley is the best! So reliable and trustworthy. We feel totally comfortable having her stay at our apt to watch our cat. She kept us updated with routine texts and photos while we were away. She was also very understanding when we had to change our booking last minute due to our dog passing away, which we can’t thank her enough for. Thank you, Ashley!

Randy is 10 out of 10. He cared for our dog, Arkham, for a week while we were out of town. Randay is incredibly communicative, flexible, and reliable. He offered a quick meetup before the sitting, and graciously accommodated our last-minute booking—we're so grateful! When our return flight was rescheduled, he went the extra mile and extended his care for Arkham without hesitation. Our dog had a wonderful time and we were able to travel without any concerns, thanks to Randy. As both a dog owner and someone who knows the value of great pet care, I highly recommend Randy! We look forward to working with him again.

Francisco was more than excellent. He knew intuitively how to care for my 15 year old pup. Knew how to give her her meds, understood complicated feeding, knew how to walk her so she actually walked instead of being carried. Knew when it was time for her to rest too. He was so sweet with her and she warmed to him immediately.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Manhattan on Rover is $65 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 19,381 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Manhattan. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Manhattan walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Manhattan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Manhattan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
