“Abdelkader was excellent! He was communicative and followed all the directives that I left for him. To be honest, I don’t plan on using anyone else for my cat sitting services if I can avoid it. He’s just that good! I look forward to booking his services again!”

“Finn had a great time with Kevin over the holidays. Only a couple of photos over the stay, but Kevin gave me the confidence that all was well and made sure to reach out for clarification with any questions. My return flights got messed up and Kevin was gracious enough to extend!”

“Danny was wonderful! He stayed at our place for 3 nights and watched two of my elderly (12-13 yo) little 9 lbs dogs. He was extremely professional and responsible - prompt with replies, followed up politely when I failed to respond in a timely fashion, and left the house in very good order. I highly recommend Danny and would absolutely seek him out again.”

“Ashley was great, very communicative, and took great care of my pup. My dog is reactive and Ashley took care to make sure she was safe and happy. Thank you, Ashley!”
“Connor (CK) took great care of Roxy while we were out of town for 3 days. He took her on walks and to the dog park, and provided lots of attention. He followed our instructions and took good care of our home. He sent pics and a report each day. She was calm when we got back home — a sure sign that she was well cared for.”

“Sandy was outstanding, she went above and beyond for my little cat. This was my first time taking a trip since I got him, and Sandy gave him all his favorite comforts. When I got home he was perfectly relaxed as if I never left.”

“Michelle was wonderful with my dog callie! Michelle was able to coax Callie out of her shyness and gave her the love and attention that she needs. Michelle was communicative and responsive and regularly sent me pics of my baby. I'd definitely rebook her again?”

“Wow Schirn is absolutely amazing! I would recommend her to anyone. She took care of our dog the 10 days we were in Ireland and did an amazing job. We even had a maintenance issue in our apartment and she had it fixed and had me updated in no time. She really is incredible. We got great pictures and updates every day. I will be using her every time we are out of town. 10/10”

“Riouja arrived before time - she was very communicative, sent hourly updates with pictures , took chia to the groomer and back , was loving and kind to our dog. We would not hesitate to hire her again recommend her highly. She’s a dog lover and our dog loved her !”

“I was an anxious dog mom leaving my little shih tzu in the care of another person after many years of not… but now that I’ve met Manny, my anxiety has subsided! Manny stayed overnight to watch my little Misty while I was away on business. I returned to a happy and relaxed Misty (and my apartment was tidy as ever, like I left it. Manny is a great house guest). Manny kept me up to date with photos and updates while I was away— great with communication. An all star sitter indeed!”

About: I grew up caring for multiple dogs, and was a professional walker and sitter for years in NYC. I'm here for the easiest little guys and gals and also have the wherewithal and experience to care for dogs that require some more sensitive or attentive care (puppies, senior dogs, babies with health issues requiring medication, etc.). I'm currently working part time and have flexibility to walk/sit your pup! I'm available most weekends and holidays to sit and walk. I follow all house rules and guidelines for sitting and walking your pup. Always happy to chat and visit ahead any sit or walk so we can all get to know each other and make sure we're comfortable!
“Samantha was wonderful with our cat & dog. She came for a meet and greet before the trip, and sent regular updates and photos while we were away. She was a huge help, and we’ll be hiring her again!”

“Daniel did an excellent job taking care of my two senior pups on such short notice for 9 days during the Thanksgiving holiday after i had an unexpected last minute cancellation from my other pet sitter. Daniel came to the rescue and was diligent about the medications needed to be administered for my pup Ray who has 4 eye medications to do on a daily basis. Daniel sent pictures and videos and kept me updated along the way. He also left the home spotless on my arrival and with happy pups! Will definitely be reaching out to him for the next time. Thank you Daniel!”

“Meaghan did a phenomenal job with in home sitting over a weekend away! She was very punctual, professional, and did a great job with communication and sending updates. Would be happy to have her watch our dog again!”

“Caroline is soft spoken, gentle and calm demeanor. My pack responds very well to a person like Caroline. When we got home. Our dogs greeted us at the door but were very calm. Caroline sent me a picture to confirm all was well. She was also very responsive to my texts to her. She is lovely. Asked questions and brought a notebook to take notes at our meet & greet. I highly recommend Caroline. She is loving and nurturing. My pack was very comfortable with her.”
“We were so pleased with Kenine’s care of our pups that we rebooked her immediately! She is very communicative about the health and wellbeing of our dogs, taking cues from them about what they need. She went above and beyond when one of ours had some tummy trouble and picked up a fiber supplement to help get things regular again. I can only say positive things about Kenine!”

“Razan did a wonderful job sitting for our pups as well as our place! My pups can be particular and she adapted to them and their quirks well - she had great communication and gave lots of pics and updates!”

Anastasiia was great with my cat Rubin - he was comfortable immediately and sat next to her on the couch on the first day. She asked lots of questions about his routine and his needs to make sure he was comfortable. She stayed at my apt while I was away and left everything clean and tidy, too.

Victoria was great! She made it really easy for me and I'm so thankful. Victoria sent pics during her sit and Goose clearly was loving the attention. Another great benefit was how comfortable she was with Goose and how confident that made me feel. She mentioned she's done many years of equestrian work and has developed the intuition and confidence to be be great at handling animals. Highly recommend.

Emily was wonderful ! I felt super comfortable leaving her with my beloved Peach and I could really enjoy my vacation because of her. She came over the day before to make sure she knew where everything was and took notes. I will definitely be booking her in the future and can't recommend her enough.

Jordan all around fantastic sitter for Auggie! She watched him for 10 days, kept the apartment amazingly clean, just the right level of communicaiton and most importantly, could tell that my pup really appreciated her and her company! would book her again in the future.

Emily was such a life saver and an absolute joy to have watching over our Winston while we were away. She was so communicative and kind, plus more than happy to go the extra mile to help us coordinate a key hand off with a friend when our flights had issues coming home. I could not recommend Emily more and hope we have the privilege of having her again in the future :)

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 19,083 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Long Island City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Long Island City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Long Island City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Long Island City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
