“Vanessa was great with our dog and guinea pig while my family was away. She was communicative, sent pictures and videos, followed all our instructions and took great care of our house . We will definitely use her again.”

“Wow Schirn is absolutely amazing! I would recommend her to anyone. She took care of our dog the 10 days we were in Ireland and did an amazing job. We even had a maintenance issue in our apartment and she had it fixed and had me updated in no time. She really is incredible. We got great pictures and updates every day. I will be using her every time we are out of town. 10/10”

“Erik is amazing! He is very attentive to our Toby and Toby adores him! We also had a last minute emergency as the charity walk we do every year was suddenly changed to a new location that does not allow dogs and we had no one to watch our puppy who has not trained to be alone yet so he came to our rescue and for that we are very, very grateful. He was great with TOBY. He walked him. He played with him and he fed him. He was very attentive. I highly recommend Erik!”

“Christopher was great with Chloe and very attentive to her. He sent lots of pictures while he was with her. He communicated with me when he got here, during his stay with Chloe, and right after he left. I will definitely be booking with him in the future!”

“Alexander took wonderful care of my little girl in my apartment for a couple of days. He kept me updated frequently and clearly cared for Leyla. I highly recommend him!”

“Sadie was great and she was very responsive and helpful. One of our cats needed a little extra care and Sadie was very accommodating and happy to help. Our cats were comfortable around her, and we recommend Sadie!”

“Amber was wonderful! I came home to very happy pups after a long week away. Amber was great at sending updates and very respectful of my home. I knew my pups were in good hands and didn’t worry at all while I was out of town.”

“Michael was an excellent house sitter, took care of everything, was flexible, took my booking at the last minute when someone else canceled on me, and went out of his way to make sure that both me and my very anxious dog were comfortable before I left. I will be booking him again.”

“Ruojia was so great! She was so good about keeping us updated on our dog. She took great care of him and he always looked so happy in the pictures :)”

“Kaylee is amazing. Our 1 year old pitbull loved her from the first minute. She is truly a "dog person". Our dog Cannoli had surgery earlier in the week. Kaylee followed all our instructions with medication and sent videos. We could see our baby snuggled up with Kaylee sleeping. I will Absolutely be booking again.”

“Mint was very kind, attentive and patient with my senior doggie. He left my apartment just as he found it and checked in often! I could tell that my pup felt safe and content during the week she spent with Mint.”

About: I currently care for my senior dog who we adopted with a healed broken wrist. She is so special and so loved and I would make sure to pour myself into caring and appreciating your pet for exactly who they are! Im currently working part time and have a flexible schedule so am happy to accommodate to be a reliable person to care for your pet. I will be sure to communicate with you on what works best for your pet and keep you updated with pictures and videos. “Asher did a great job caring for my dog, Leo! He gave me daily pupdates and sent lots of cute pictures! He was easy to communicate with and took care of my home like it was his own.”

“Jenny stayed in our home and watched our dog Otis while we were away for a few days. I truly couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter! She was super kind, communicative and sent a ton of pictures and updates. She was also very happy to meet with us beforehand to go over everything and prep for her time watching Otis. I can't recommend her enough and will certainly be booking Jenny to help watch Otis from now on. He loves her!”

“Andrea was so great about our dogs routine and etiquette plan which is quite regimented! Photos and videos galore! She was everything we could have asked for and more. She honestly made our trip more enjoyable because we had nothing to worry about.”

“Kenine was amazing taking care of Shyra. We had just lost our husky, Kodi, and were concerned about Shyra being alone. Kenine gave Shyra all the love, kept us updated on her status, and left us a beautiful photo memorial of Kodi when we came home. Above and beyond doesn’t even come close.”

Miranda is the best!!! She was happy todo a meet & greet as my dog Bernie can be a bit anxious but she took to Miranda’s calm and friendly demeanor right away. Bernie had the absolute best week going on adventures and walks with Miranda and she took great care of my apartment as well. Highly recommend!!! After my flight home was canceled and I couldn’t get back for another day, Miranda was a huge lifesaver by being able to add an extra night on.

Kameron was absolutely amazing with our 7-month-old kitten! This was our first time leaving her for several days, and Kameron made us feel completely at ease. She was incredibly kind and attentive, played with her, followed her feeding routine carefully, and sent us tons of photos and updates throughout the stay. It was so reassuring to see how happy and comfortable our kitten was with her. Kameron was also extremely responsible and respectful of our home. She arrived on time and stayed with her until we got home. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely trust Kameron with her again. Highly recommend! ❤️

Linda is the best! She stayed overnight with our 6 year old cat Biscuit for 10 days and followed all of our instructions to a T. She sent amazing photos the whole time and you could see Biscuit was really thriving and having a great time. Very responsive, thoughtful, and responsible. Would definitely book her again!

Vivienne was wonderful! She follows instructions carefully, is attentive and reliable, very communicative, and genuinely loves on my babies like they are her own. My girls love having her around and she even gets my older girl to play which she’s rarely interested in. I always feel completely comfortable knowing they are in her care!

As always, Stephen was an amazing sitter for Una and for the house while we were away. He was communicative, responsive, and sent lots of cute pics to help us not miss our little Una too much. Stephen’s the best there is, and we’re always so grateful for his kind, thoughtful approach. We’ll definitely rebook in the future!

Evangelia was such a wonderful caretaker for our dog and two cats! She was thoughtful, responsive, and so affectionate with them. She even went out of her way to research a possible fix for some problem behavior by one of our cats. We’d highly recommend her to anyone!
We love Lauren - this was our third or fourth time having her stay at our place. Her communication is fantastic, she takes great care of our anxious young dog, our senior dog and our attention seeking cat, and she’s super clean and respectful of our home as well. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved having Nina watch Louie! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ She was on time, attentive, caring, and took such great care of him. She kept me updated and followed everything I asked. Louie absolutely loved her! I would definitely recommend Nina and would happily have her watch Louie again! ❤️

Lady was wonderful. My first time leaving my little Charlie alone and he was happy well taken care of and she kept me at ease with her updates. She is calm experienced and I will 100% be hiring her again. She left my place better than when she arrived. I know it’s hard to trust a new person with your special dog but I assure you he/she is in great hands with Lady.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Middle Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Middle Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Middle Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Middle Village. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
