“Schirn was a great house sitter! She gave me pup dates along the way and was easy to communicate with. She left the house spotless and my pup was in good spirits when I came home. Would book again!”

“Vanessa was great with our dog and guinea pig while my family was away. She was communicative, sent pictures and videos, followed all our instructions and took great care of our house . We will definitely use her again.”

“Danny was amazing, truly! Communicative while I was traveling but not overbearing. Sent photos of places that are FAR from my apartment, so I loved knowing that my dog was getting good, long, solid walks. Place was tidy, thorough dog sitting recap was sent - I felt so good coming home, and have used Rovers in the past where that wasn't the case!”

“We’re so happy we found Katherine. Our dog, Jesse, can be a bit challenging with new people and requires patience on his walks, but Katherine handled him with grace and confidence. It was our first time leaving him with a sitter, so I was a little nervous. She kindly agreed to meet us beforehand, which immediately put us at ease. During the stay, she kept us updated with plenty of messages and photos, making it clear that Jesse was in great hands. She also left our home clean and organized. Jesse has a new friend, and I’m a happy dog mama.”

“Erik was great and responsive, given the short notice on my end. He was punctual and provided updates with my Evie. Would absolutely recommend and book again. Thanks!”

“Michael was great! He has good energy and you can tell he loves and knows dogs. My dog Maya took to him immediately. He kept me updated on how she was doing and sent lots of lovely pics. I’ll definitely book him again:”

“Nothing but great things to say! Timely and great communication, sent many photos, and was apparent our pets were loved and exercised regularly! Our dishwasher was even emptied and apartment left looking better than we had left it.”

“Amber was a great dogsitter for our 8yo and 13yo pups! As soon as we booked the session, she was able to stop by to meet them and get a general download of info. For the actual sitting appt, she was on time and ready to take them on a walk, feed them dinner, and have a relaxing night together. We will definitely be reaching out to her again!”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! From start to finish, the communication was great. Mint took the time to send updates, photos, and little notes that showed how much he genuinely cared. It gave us such peace of mind while we were away knowing our pup was being so well looked after. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and caring sitter!”

“Cailey was wonderful with our pup! She was very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure our pup was taken care of. She also provided us with daily updates. Will be using Cailey again in the future!”

“Avery was easy to communicate with, she provided pictures updates of our pets (even without needing to be prompted!), and did a great job with our 2 rambunctious cats. She also thoroughly cleaned the house before she left, which was an unexpected and very nice touch. Overall, we are very satisfied with Avery and will definitely be contacting her again for future stays!”

“Kevin was great and a huge help watching Sora for an extended period of time (10+ nights). I returned to a healthy dog and a clean apartment, so happy with the service he provided! Would book again!”
“Chris is the best! Hands down one of the BEST pet sitters for my babies. I am SUPER picky and don't usually book the same sitters unless I truly like them. Chris communicates very well and sees to my pets needs. Follows the itinerary very well, sends pictures, updates, and knows how to handle each one of them.”

“Meaghan was wonderful with our little puppy. You could tell that she loves animals and that she knew how to handle a first time meeting without causing the dog unnecessary anxiety. That allowed us to leave feeling secure that Maisie was in good hands!”

“Isaiah was such an attentive and responsive sitter. They loved my girls and watched over them just as we would, and I’m so eternally grateful to have been able to book them. They sent many pictures and updates on our 3 day trip, which made it so much easier to lay back and relax while away from the babies. I will definitely be booking them again in the future and truly could not recommend you book with them enough. Thanks so much Iggy! <3”

About: At a young age family members asked me to take care of their pets. Fast forward now my sister has relied in me to walk and dog sit her pup. I'm an artist/art-teacher/illustrator/computer- animator. Right now my schedule is pretty flexible. So why not use my free time to do something I enjoy doing and love. Will always respect someone's home and their pet and follow their rules and directions. And will leave a note or message to the owner on how day went.

About: I grew up caring for multiple dogs, and was a professional walker and sitter for years in NYC. I'm here for the easiest little guys and gals and also have the wherewithal and experience to care for dogs that require some more sensitive or attentive care (puppies, senior dogs, babies with health issues requiring medication, etc.). I'm currently working part time and have flexibility to walk/sit your pup! I'm available most weekends and holidays to sit and walk. I follow all house rules and guidelines for sitting and walking your pup. Always happy to chat and visit ahead any sit or walk so we can all get to know each other and make sure we're comfortable!
“I wish I could give him more stars. He’s that wonderful. We have an elderly dog who somehow poops in the house along with some frisky kitties. Everyone was well cared for and our house was clean when we got home. I would use Austin ANYTIME I go away.”

“I booked Avary to house sit for me while I was on a work trip for a few days. Avary was super responsive and provided detailed updates and lot of photos! I had a lot of peace of mind knowing Duncan would be in good hands while I was gone.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Middle Village is $60
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Middle Village
We had some extenuating circumstances for our home while we were away and Alexander handled the extra stress and management of those issues while sitting for our pups seamlessly and lovingly, like he always does. He is extra reliable and thoughtful and competent! Why he is our regular sitter.

Anastasiia was great with my cat Rubin - he was comfortable immediately and sat next to her on the couch on the first day. She asked lots of questions about his routine and his needs to make sure he was comfortable. She stayed at my apt while I was away and left everything clean and tidy, too.

Kameron is amazing! Was able to schedule last minute after another sitter cancelled and was extremely communicative and clear. She took excellent care of my high needs puppy and left my place in immaculate condition. Kameron was a joy to work with and I couldn't recommend her more!

As always, Miller keeps me up to date on Theo’s activities. Eating, playing, using the box, and sending lots of cute pics. It makes being away from my baby so much more tolerable! And, Theo always seems to be brighter, happier, and healthier on my return. Miller knows cats… I’m a very happy repeat customer (and so is Theo).

Tenzin is absolutely amazing - a hero and a lifesaver, truly can't say enough good things. She took care of two high-needs dogs (one is a a senior dog with multiple medical issues, the other has severe separation anxiety) while I was out of the country for a week. The older dog developed new symptoms just a few days before I left, and I almost canceled the trip, but Tenzin's experience and competence made me feel secure enough to go, and she kept up a constant flow of information and photos, so I knew the pups were well and happy!

Tom has watched our big dogs twice now and has been such a wonderful caretaker while we’re away! Our german shepherd and great dane love him and we can rest assured that they’re in the best hands. He even works on leash etiquette with our GSD! Super communicative and sends lots of updates too.

Albert was amazing with our dog Ollie when he stayed at our house for 5 nights - he sent pictures and videos every day and stayed later than expected on the day we were scheduled to arrive home because our flight was delayed. Looking forward to booking again in the future!

We’re so happy with the care that Eden provided for our cat Eidee once again! Eden not only helped to make our anxious (and loud) cat feel comfortable during our vacation, but also dealt with non-cat related house sitting things with such grace, humor, and kindness. We had a big AC leak in our apartment on the last day due to the upstairs unit and Eden handled that like a pro, including cleaning up puddles, making sure Eidee was safe, and moving our electronics away. Eden went above and beyond once again and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Middle Village on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Middle Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Middle Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Middle Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Middle Village. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
