“Lenin did a wonderful job pet sitting our dog. We have a large dog who is shy and Lenin did an amazing job with him. He is professional and responsible with great communication. He took excellent care of our dog and home.”

“Schirn was incredible! She made sure to give updates and showed a lot of love for my girl. My flight was delayed and she extended an extra night for us. I truly am so grateful for someone caring for our dog this way!!”

“Lia was incredible! We have two dogs - one large Golden Retriever and one small Shiba Inu. She handled both of them perfectly, especially our Shiba who is very shy and scared of new people. She sent updates, pictures, kept our place incredibly clean and abided by all the house/dog rules. Will only be booking Lia again moving forward.”

“Mint was very kind, attentive and patient with my senior doggie. He left my apartment just as he found it and checked in often! I could tell that my pup felt safe and content during the week she spent with Mint.”

“Vanessa was great with our dog and guinea pig while my family was away. She was communicative, sent pictures and videos, followed all our instructions and took great care of our house . We will definitely use her again.”

“This was our first time having Razan watch our cat, and she was fantastic! She is proactive, considerate, and highly communicative. I especially appreciated that she took the time to meet our cat beforehand to learn how to administer his asthma inhaler. While we were away, she was attentive to all his needs and sent daily photos and updates. We returned to a clean and tidy apartment. Thank you so much, Razan!”

About: I started out day sitting my friends dogs in Manhattan. When I moved to queens, my housemate has a cavapoo, Boba whom I been currently been co-sitting for over two years. I been the primary sitter as I am at home mostly and am used to the daily routines of seeing what Boba needs and understand him more and more everyday. I have a flexible schedule as I am in between jobs and mostly around the area. I spend most of my day around my house dog. On top of that I am a health conscious person and I love bringing Boba along on my workouts and walks around the neighborhood. I look forward to growing the community! I've setup systems to ensure safety as a priority. In the day Boba stays in the living area and it is fenced up to prevent him from going into the Kitchen and Bedrooms as those areas have food which is not only bad for his diet but could be a hazard. The living area will be filled with his favorite toys and occasionally to promote positive behavior,I will put together nourishment toys such as a semi-sealed container with treats to keep Boba engaged and entertained throughout the day. I walk him twice a day usually if the weather permits which is after lunch and after dinner.
“Second time of many having Chris help us out with our puppy! We booked him for house sitting while we enjoyed a night off. We always have peace of mind having him puppy sit knowing he can handle all the energy our pup throws at him.”

“We initially planned to board our dog Frankel during our vacation. Unfortunately 5 days before the trip he broke his toe and ended up in a foot cast, leaving us unable to put him in a boarding facility. We scrambled a bit with only a few days to find an alternative, and then we came across Lilly's profile. She took absolutely fantastic care of Frankel while we were away and put our minds at ease with daily pictures and videos of Frankel having a great time. Lilly made sure to give him his medication and take the extra steps needed to keep his cast safe and dry, she was extremely communicative, and even offered to water our plants and bring the mail in. Frankel had the best time with Lilly. We really can't say enough great things about the experience and will definitely be using Lilly again for future trips!”

“Austin was great and dealt very well with one dog who doesn't like to go outside and the other pup who is potty training and needs to go out all the time. Will book again.”

“we loved Grace so much!!!! she took such great care of Eloise and sent lots of pics of our happy girl. Felt confident El was well taken care of and understood.”

“May is terrific! I cannot recommend her highly enough. From the very beginning, it was clear that she genuinely loves animals and treats them as if they were her own. She is dependable, responsible, attentive, and incredibly caring, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. We especially appreciated the regular updates, photos, and thoughtful communication, which allowed us to enjoy our time away without worrying. It was obvious that our dog, Dante, received plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and individualized May is everything you could hope for in a pet sitter. We would gladly use her services again and recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for outstanding care for their pets.”

“Bryan did a wonderful job house sitting for our golden retriever, Hank. He followed Hank’s schedule and did a great job keeping him happy and active while we were away. We will definitely be asking Bryan to watch Hank again!”

“Connor is an excellent sitter. He's very thoughtful and attentive to our pets needs (love, attention, walks, sniffs), and our needs (lots of adorable dog pics). He's very respectful and also top notch on the house sitting front as well. We are looking forward to having Connor watch our boys again soon (and I know they feel the same)!”

“ET was patient, kind, and caring with my bulldog Ziggy, who's getting a bit stubborn with age. She was super communicative about his food, walks, and small health issues, and left my apartment immaculately clean. Ziggy and I highly recommend ET for all of your dog (and pet) sitting needs.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - East Elmhurst
Anastasiia sets the bar high in her pet care! She did an excellent job communicating with me regularly, sending pics and updates, and showing up on time to meet me for key pickup and drop-off. I was very impressed with the way she cleaned my home and cared for my pets. I will definitely hire her again! She is also a sweet and kind person, which is a huge plus. Highly recommend!

I honestly can’t recommend Saifa enough! She came to our hotel to watch our 16 week old Lab puppy, Winston, while we were at a concert, and she made the whole experience completely stress free. She kept me updated throughout the entire night with texts and lots of pictures, which I really appreciated. It was so nice being able to enjoy the concert without worrying because I always knew Winston was happy, safe, and having a great time. Taking care of a 16 week old puppy isn’t always easy, but she was so patient, attentive, and clearly loves dogs. Winston took to her right away, and it was obvious he was getting plenty of attention and affection. She was kind, dependable, and so easy to communicate with from start to finish. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again the next time we’re in the city. Winston absolutely adored her, and I know he’ll be excited to see her again. If you’re looking for someone you can completely trust with your pup, she’s the one!

Katie was awesome!! She was so attentive and communicative, we really appreciated getting her daily updates and pictures while we were traveling. She made us feel at ease and we could tell our cats loved her as well. We would definitely book Katie again in the future, we can't thank her enough for such a stellar job!

Tenzin is absolutely amazing - a hero and a lifesaver, truly can't say enough good things. She took care of two high-needs dogs (one is a a senior dog with multiple medical issues, the other has severe separation anxiety) while I was out of the country for a week. The older dog developed new symptoms just a few days before I left, and I almost canceled the trip, but Tenzin's experience and competence made me feel secure enough to go, and she kept up a constant flow of information and photos, so I knew the pups were well and happy!

Charlie was fantastic. I needed a last minute pet sitter and am so glad I found him. He had great communication, fast response time, and my dog loved him and I was able to enjoy my trip knowing she was being well cared for. I've used Rover before and it has been an up and down experience due to people initially agreeing and then not responding or cancelling days later. I'm really happy to have found Charlie and can't tell you how much I appreciated his quick and reliable communication.

Vanessa did an absolute amazing job staying with Onyx. She was with him for two days and a night and did everything that I asked her to do the exact way I asked her to. She kept in touch with me the whole time and dealt with my paranoia as I never left him before.. She left the house, nice and clean and took out the garbage. I will definitely be booking her again. Thank you Vanessa.

Austin is great! Bertie got comfortable with him right off the bat, Austin followed all our instructions perfectly and was a great companion. Austin sent lots of pics and videos which we loved and was always keeping us updated on Bertie. We would 100% rebook and recommend Austin. Thank you!!

Hunter was fantastic. I have a super needy and affectionate senior cat who needs a companion more than anything when we are out of town. Hunter made himself available to hang out with coopy and sent pictures of the two of them snuggled up. He made me feel comfortable being out of town by knowing someone affectionate was also looking after my cat. Finding a GOOD cat sitter on Rover can be difficult but he was a gem!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Elmhurst walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Elmhurst maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Elmhurst choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
