“Requested Avary the day before and was immediately reached out to, to confirm the booking and get familiar with our puppy. Avary proceeded to communicate ETA, sending pics on arrival and kept me up to date on the good potty moments and the bad. Will definitely be rebooking and recommend Avary without any hesitation to anyone who needs a sitter!”

“ren took great care of my very energetic dog. i felt totally comfortable and received several updates throughout the day. thank you SO much for taking such good care of my girl 🌸”

“Rachelle has been our go-to dog sitter, and once again, she took great care of our dachshund while we were away for a week. She made sure he got his daily walks and potty breaks on schedule, handled his medication, and kept the house tidy, which we really appreciated. She also sent us regular photo updates, which eased how much we missed him. We’ve used her before and continue to trust her with our pup. Would definitely recommend!”

“Alexandra was very kind and communicative, and provided many pictures and updates. She followed my cat’s feeding regimen perfectly and made sure Katya was properly cared for. I highly recommend!!”

“Ashanti stepped up in a major way to take care of our 12 yr old dog after she got unexpectedly bitten by a dog the night before our trip! She was very communicative and worked with my sister to follow the vet’s recommendations, including administering medications, and helped nurse our pup back to health. She also did a great job caring for our cat and our home. Thank you, Ashanti!!”

“Dave was amazing! We would work with him again in a heartbeat. We had a tough situation where we needed to change our original Rover sitter (on an 11 day trip) within a couple hours of the original booking beginning. I reached out to Dave and he met our two dogs and was able to jump into the sit with less than 24 hours notice. From his communication and photos I was reassured every day that the dogs and home were in great hands.”

“Jada was so great with my 2 senior dogs. It was my first time with an in home sitter and she spent so much time with them, sent pics everyday and was very considerate of my space :)”

“Desiree is a thoughtful and conscientious sitter. She stayed over and cared for my older cat and emo dog. She sent regular updates which gave me confidence while I was gone. Five stars. Highly recommend.”

“Kristen had a calming presence that put our anxious dog at ease immediately. There was no panic when we left :) We were really happy with the experience and hope to work together again soon!”

“Kimora house sat for me and took exceptional care of my cat and home while I was away. She’s highly communicative and thoughtful and will happily book with her again in the future!”

“Another amazing stay! So happy to have Jennifer back! She’s so responsible and communicative and I love all the photos she sends! My cat always looks like he’s having such a great time with her!”

“Lenford made me feel comfortable that Charlie was in good hands while I was away! He sent many pictures in which Charlie looked like he was having a blast. Lenford also worked with me when my flight was delayed until the middle of the night and stayed with Charlie until we were sure I would be getting home soon.”

“Greg was so great! He stayed with my dog during fourth of july weekend and comforted him through the scary fireworks. It was obvious that he really gets dogs and he did everything I would’ve done myself to give my dog extra comfort without even being asked!”

“Janelle was fantastic! She sent detailed updates and lots of pictures every day, and I felt very confident that my cats were safe and happy. The photos also confirmed that even the shyer of the two warmed up to her very quickly. And I came back to a spotless house. I’m hoping she’ll be free next time we’re out of town!”

“Kier was absolutely AMAZING! He was so caring with my 2.5 year old Cockapoo - and sent me updates/photos multiple times a day. My pup looked like he was having way more fun with Kier than he does with me :). Thank you, Kier!!”

“Meaghan spent the day with our two dogs and she was so kind and responsive. Sent pictures and kept us updated, even helped with a little accident. Would definitely rebook!”

Kristen generously came over to get to know Quinn before he stayed with her. She's slow to warm up and even for the first days they were together, she was reluctant to go out. With time and his patience, she gained confidence and everything fell into place. Kristen responded to my queries and was easy going. I will definitely reach out again.
Greg did a wonderful job with our Turtle during our weekend getaway. Turtle more anxious pup. Greg provided me with regular updates which made my trip more relaxed. When we back my pup was relaxed and calm which is the best sign she was given great care. He followed the instructions and even spoiled her with attention. We are definitely recommend Greg and would love use his service in the future. Thank you Greg!!

Izzy was a very attentive and communicative sitter. When my cat had an unfortunately timed flare up of chronic skin issues, I got daily updates on medicine application and photos of the affected area. Messages were frequent and detailed, and I returned home to some happy cats and a clean apartment.

Scary has stayed with our Schipperke, Roger, twice now! First when he was just an 11mo-old pup, and recently as an adolescent 13mo-old. Both times, we felt confident, communicated with, secure, and grateful. We even had a crazy travel snag with our flight cancelled overnight for more than 24hrs and Avary went above and beyond to make sure Roger was cared for, fed, let out, and all the things, helping tremendously to ease an already stressful situation. Avary is the most communicative sitter we’ve encountered. When Roger had anxiety accidents, Avary made sure he and our space were clean, keeping us informed and Roger comfy every step of the way. 10/10 recommend this incredible, thoughtful, kind, compassionate, smart, intuitive, talented pet-sitter. Avary knows dogs and it’s clear dogs love Avary. The best of the best.

Meka was incredible all around! She watched our 1 year old dog, Franklin, for a long weekend at our apartment. She took Frankie on great walks and trips to the park - sending photos and updates each day. She left our apartment spotless! We would re-book Meka anytime!

Rachael did such an incredible job watching my two frenchies, Dallas and Nix. They seemed to enjoy her energy and care and I came home to a beautifully clean house and happy dogs. That's all I can ask for. She sent regular pictures and updates and navigated any challenges on her own which I so appreciated. Cant wait to use her again when I travel again.

Sam was amazing! She helped out last minute to care for Bella and she was so sweet and patient! She was very attentive to all of Bella’s quirks and list I made for Bella. She not only was amazing caring for Bella but after staying in my place she left it just as you found it, which on top of her great care for Bella, was even more amazing! I really appreciate all she did and I felt completely at ease while away for a wedding!

Jamela was so so awesome!! She watched my corgi last minute for a few days while I was out of town. I got a ton of photos and updates, and my place was left immaculate when we came back home. 10/10 recommend her, very good communicator! Definitely had peace of mind when she was staying at ours and with our pup. Thank you so much Jamela!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Brooklyn
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Brooklyn on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 19,025 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Brooklyn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Brooklyn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Brooklyn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brooklyn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Brooklyn. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
