“Lori was an amazing sitter for my cats! They warmed to her instantly. She was super communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates which were so appreciated. I would recommend her to any cat parents and will definitely be asking for her help again.”

“Avary was unbelievably kind, thoughtful, and considerate when caring for my spoiled Pomeranian and staying at my apartment! She was transparent and provided frequent updates without being prompted and soothed this anxious dog mom’s nerves :) She was thorough in following instructions and went above and beyond on her last day taking care of my dog and apartment. Gem of a human and I’m beyond grateful to have picked Avary as our sitter!”

“Cannot recommend Dave enough - he was easy to book with, prompt, communicative and (like others have said) left my home spotless! My dog was well taken care of and I would trust Dave to watch after my dog - any time! Thank you, Dave!”

“Rachelle was amazing. Excellent communication, updates and pictures. She followed our directions exactly and is a gem! We are so grateful to have found such an attentive sitter.”

“Megan was wonderful with my dog! She was very communicative, timely, and took great care of my guy who is recovering from a back injury. Highly recommend her!”

“Ashanti stepped up in a major way to take care of our 12 yr old dog after she got unexpectedly bitten by a dog the night before our trip! She was very communicative and worked with my sister to follow the vet’s recommendations, including administering medications, and helped nurse our pup back to health. She also did a great job caring for our cat and our home. Thank you, Ashanti!!”

“Em did a wonderful job caring for Ollie. They were communicative, responsible, and flexible when I was unexpectedly delayed getting home. Ollie seemed to have a wonderful time and I’d be thrilled to have them watch him again in the future.”

About: I grew up around dogs. Since I was born, my family has had Golden Retrievers who were my brothers. I have been working with and around dogs of any size all my life and have a huge love for them. I have cared for sick dogs, healthy dogs, energetic dogs, high maintenance pups. I love all breeds and personalities! I am a Brooklynite but I have no issue coming into Manhattan or Queens to spend some some time with your pup! I am a performing artist so my schedule is generally wide open. I can schedule whenever or wherever I am needed! Early mornings are not a problem for me nor are evenings. Long walks are not a problem for me, I live near Prospect Park and love walking in the parks in New York. I have no problem house sitting.
“Meka is the BEST. She is an angel and so happy we found such a wonderful sitter for our golden retriever Franklin. She helped us out last minute in a pinch too. We could not ask for a better and more trustworthy and kind person to love Franklin while we are away!”

“Jada was so great with my 2 senior dogs. It was my first time with an in home sitter and she spent so much time with them, sent pics everyday and was very considerate of my space :)”

“Highly recommend Janelle!! She is wonderful with cats. My cat immediately warmed up to her. Janelle takes time to relieve their stress, play, etc. She was super attentive to my cat’s medical needs, which included administering an inhaler for asthma, probiotics, and an oral medicine. By the end of her stay, my cat trusted Janelle so much that she let her give her medicine without any struggle. And she’s excellent at communicating - she asks the right questions and sent me multiple pictures and videos every day! It really put me at ease while I was traveling.”

“Sadie was a great house sitter to have while I traveled. She was a great communicator and easy to reach out to and schedule with. She provided updates on my cat and took good care of my apartment. I was happy to find my cat in good spirits and home clean and just how I left it. Excited to rebook with her the next time I’m away.”

“Greg provided the absolute best animal care that we have ever had! We recently moved into a new house and needed to take a trip to visit family. I was very nervous about finding someone to care for our dog, and really wanted to find someone who was open to staying at our home. Greg had glowing reviews on Rover, and luckily was avail”

“Meaghan has watched my puppy, Buck a few times now while I travel and she is great! Very reliable, responsible and considerate! I feel super comfortable leaving my guy with her and highly recommend booking with her!”

“This was our second time using Kimora and it was just as smooth! She sent twice-daily updates with pictures and Ries seemed super happy to have her stay with him again.”

I do not have enough wonderful things to say about Nagham!!! She was absolutely incredible with our english bulldog (who can be a tough cookie) and was so respectful and clean- our apt looked better than it did when we left! She sent tons of amazing photos and videos and was super communicative. It gave us such peace of mind having her here with Crumb while we were away, and we will absolutely be booking her again. Highly highly recommend!!

Miller did a fantastic job caring for our cats while we were away! One of our kitties was a new addition, and we were anxious about leaving them alone. But, Miller was very attentive and did a great job keeping us updated, which helps keep our minds at ease. We will definitely be booking again :D

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gabriela was absolutely wonderful with Massimo! I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She took such great care of him and gave him lots of attention, long walks, playtime, and affection. It was clear that Massimo felt comfortable and happy with her, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I really appreciate the time and genuine care she gave him. I would absolutely trust Gabriela with Massimo again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter. I hope Massimo gets to see her again soon! 🐶❤️

Alex was amazing and my two dogs loved him! One of our dogs is a little hesitant with new people and he won her over quickly, even at the initial meet and greet. He sent a ton of photos showing how much fun they were having and provided regular, detailed updates about their day, medications, and food. Our apartment was left in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier and wouldn't hesitate to book him again. Thank you!! :)

Erin took excellent care of our two cats on a last-minute request after one of them had a health issue requiring more support than our previous cat sitter was able to provide. We were so grateful to her for stepping in to help out and being so communicative the whole way. We knew the cats were in excellent hands, and she handled their (many) medications with ease. We’ll absolutely be using her again!!

Deborah has been my go-to sitter for over a year now, and this is the second time I’ve had her for extended overnight stays and she was great! I have a 16 year old, very needy girl, and Deborah goes above and beyond to make sure she adjusts well, eats well, and also has fun! Between treat puzzles/hunts, cat tv, cuddles, play, and care, it makes me less stressed to leave knowing Luna is in the best of hands with Deborah! Deborah communicates well, and especially with updates on anything I have concern with - my cat has CKD so eating and hydrating are utmost importance! And as mentioned, she is a needy gal and needs lots of human interaction as well, and Deborah’s extensive knowledge on cat behavior is hugely helpful to keep her stimulated and comfortable. Truly can’t recommend her enough for your kitties! Thanks Deborah!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Brooklyn on Rover is $60 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 19,207 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Brooklyn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Brooklyn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Brooklyn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brooklyn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Brooklyn. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
