“Chase loves Imani! Her calm and friendly demeanor were an A+ and just what my dog enjoys. Imani was great with his high energy and sent me lots of pics and updates. I will definitely book her again.”

“I booked Avary to house sit for me while I was on a work trip for a few days. Avary was super responsive and provided detailed updates and lot of photos! I had a lot of peace of mind knowing Duncan would be in good hands while I was gone.”

“Jana was absolutely amazing! Everything we could have asked for in a pet sitter! Super communicative and sent lots of photos and videos. Will absolutely be reaching out for support in the future :)”

“Isabel was fantastic with our pup while we were away. She was communicative, attentive, and clearly took great care of him. The regular updates gave us so much peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“Magda was a wonderful sitter for our dog and two cats! She took the time to do a meet-and-greet beforehand to make sure our pets were comfortable with her, and that our dog got along well with her dog, Frankie. She was very reliable and communicative while we were away and made sure to send updates with very cute pictures and videos! It made traveling much easier knowing our pets were happy and well cared for. We would happily book with Magda again! Highly highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.”

“Kier is the best. He has been watching my dog for several years now, and he always takes great care of him. Sending the best photos and updates and just being a wonderful person that I know I can trust with my pup.”

“Evangelia was so incredible! Pippa adores her endlessly! I was so appreciative of the regular communication and her willingness to support Pippa however possible. Greatest sitter on Rover! Maybe actually greatest sitter ever!”

“Rachelle was a great sitter for my two young cats! She responded quickly and kindly and came over briefly before I left for a trip to meet the cats and get to know them + the space. During her stay she was very communicative and sent many fun updates on how the cats were doing. Would definitely recommend Rachelle as a sitter!”

“Cailey was wonderful with our pup! She was very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure our pup was taken care of. She also provided us with daily updates. Will be using Cailey again in the future!”

“Greg is fantastic! If you're looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter look no further! He did an amazing job watching our two pugs (who can be a handful at times!) for 4 days/nights. During our meet and greet, Greg was really thorough with questions, making sure we went over all of their needs and schedule in detail. He was an excellent communicator and sent us photos and updates every couple of hours! Highly, highly recommend!”

“Bliss stayed at my place and took care of my 2 cats for 5 days. And I couldn't be more thrilled that they did! They sent both photos and video with updates of my cats, who looked so relaxed and happy, which is rare with someone they just met. Bliss is definitely a cat whisperer! They also left my apartment clean and cared for, too. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, Bliss! Rico and Sly send snuggles ;)”

“This woman is a god send! If you are thinking of hiring her, stop thinking and hire her! I am very anxious about leaving my pup with anyone else but me, and I am also a control freak. Before our scheduled time Keoma jumped in a video call with me so we could meet and chat a bit. Right away I knew I could trust her to take care of Mr. Jacobs. She answered all my questions and she is so knowledgeable! She knows a lot about dogs behavior, you can sense her passion about animals when she speaks about them. Mr. Jacobs is not used to being around other dogs but Keoma’s pup, Pepita, it’s the cutest and sweetest little thing and Mr. Jacobs befriended her within the first hour under their care! She took care of him 2 days in a row. The first day he was scared at the beginning, of course, he’s only 19 months old and is not used to other people, we don’t go out much. But soon enough he was relaxed and having fun. On the second day, when he realized we were going back to Keoma and Pepita he was so happy!! Our boy loves them very much. Keoma is officially the one and only to take care o MJ from now on! Thank you Keoma and Pepita. See you soon!! ♥️”

“We really appreciated Rachel taking care of our pup while we were traveling. He took to Rachel right way. She had no trouble with his habit of sleeping in bed with his dog sitters and his snoring. We got daily photos and updates on him and came home to a spotless house. Rachel was extra sweet in letting us know about when she had meetings during the week and would be away from him. We look forward to Rachel’s next stay with Oscar.”

“Jasmine was the perfect dog sitter for my senior special needs dog! Her vet background put me at ease with all the different instructions regarding Stella’s meds and any potential emergency care she might need in case her heart condition acted up. Stella was so happy to meet and see Jasmine, she got excited like she hasn’t in a long time and I can tell by how she acted when I came home that she had a great time with Jasmine 💗 an added bonus is that after her dogsit, giving Stella her liquid meds was so much easier! I don’t have to burrito her anymore and she doesn’t wiggle away in fear. I’m recommending her to my friends with animals who have medical issues. She’s an angel!”

“Jewel was quick to respond to my request and asked many good questions before agreeing to house sit. She also wanted to have a meet and greet before our appointment which I really appreciated. She is very communicative, thorough in terms of what is expected and knowing what the dogs need, and very good-humored; she even took notes during our meeting. The dogs were immediately comfortable with her and I was perfectly confident leaving them in her care. She gave me updates during the day, and everything was great when I returned. The dogs were happy and so was I. I would certainly request her to stay with them again.”

“Mandel was an amazing house and pet sitter for us, even taking care of all of our plants! I would highly recommend Mandel to anyone with anxiety about leaving your pets. We were updated several times a day about our babies, and were so at ease knowing they were well taken care of.”

Alexa was absolutely wonderful for our pup Warbler! We had a last min trip that she helped us out on, which coincided with a bit of a tummy upset for Warbler and she handled his specialized diet and kept a close eye on him for us. We felt completely safe with him under her care. Warbler loved getting to spend the weekend with her and she took great care of our apartment as well. She was very communicative and gave us lots of great updates! We will definitely book with her again!

Ariel was outstanding dog sitting at my apartment for 4 days. She took excellent care of my dog. Was very communicative and flexible. She even stayed later than expected after my travel was delayed by 12 hours. I would highly recommend her for any needs you might have. I'll use her again the next time I travel.

Savanna is one of the sweetest pet sitters I have ever had. She is so patient and sweet with both my pups, even my rescue who is very timid. It's so valuable to have someone you trust. Whenever Savannah is sitting, I never worry about them because I know they are in good hands. She is always on time and keeps me informed on the sit. I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for a loving pet sitter.

Kaylee is amazing. Our 1 year old pitbull loved her from the first minute. She is truly a "dog person". Our dog Cannoli had surgery earlier in the week. Kaylee followed all our instructions with medication and sent videos. We could see our baby snuggled up with Kaylee sleeping. I will Absolutely be booking again.

Regina was such a thoughtful, caring, and attentive sitter for our two cats. She sent pictures and video clips every day, and let us video call them when she could sense they missed us. She was considerate and kind, and I loved that she created a genuine connection with our babies, so much so that she will miss them. I highly recommend working with Regina. Thank you for making our week-long vacation worry-free!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Howard Beach on Rover is $89.91 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Howard Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Howard Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Howard Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
