“Rachelle is always our first choice for cat sitting! We have 4 cats with varying personalities, energy levels, and desire to socialize, and she makes each of them feel comfortable and safe while we are away. Rachelle is very kind and trustworthy — we especially appreciate the updates and photos she shares with us, which gives us peace of mind that our babies are being well cared for!”

“Chelsea is a great sitter and I will be using her again. Her companion, Toby is also a wonderful little pup who helped calm my pups down. I don't know if you can call a dog a professional, but I can say that about Chelsea. She took our girls on nice long walks, sent plenty of pictures, and made sure we knew they were well taken care of.”

“Avary was unbelievably kind, thoughtful, and considerate when caring for my spoiled Pomeranian and staying at my apartment! She was transparent and provided frequent updates without being prompted and soothed this anxious dog mom’s nerves :) She was thorough in following instructions and went above and beyond on her last day taking care of my dog and apartment. Gem of a human and I’m beyond grateful to have picked Avary as our sitter!”

“Rachel has come to my rescue to watch my puppy multiple times over the last few weeks. I cannot thank her enough for the love that she shows my pup and her frequent check ins and pictures. She is prompt in her arrival and with her communication. Thanks Rachel!”

“Schirn was a great house sitter! She gave me pup dates along the way and was easy to communicate with. She left the house spotless and my pup was in good spirits when I came home. Would book again!”

“Evangelia was so incredible! Pippa adores her endlessly! I was so appreciative of the regular communication and her willingness to support Pippa however possible. Greatest sitter on Rover! Maybe actually greatest sitter ever!”

“Sadie was incredible! She took great care of by pet and my home, was communicative, provided frequent updates. My cat adored her and was stick to her like glue. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better sitter!”

“She was a wonderful dog and cat sitter. She took a great care of my dog and my cats, making sure they were happy, safe and cared for. I felt completely at ease knowing they were in a good hands. She was reliable attentive, and clearly loves animals. I would happily recommend her and would definitely book her again.”

“Janelle is always so professional and great with Sophie—her trainer energy really resonates with Sophie’s playful and eager energy, she’s become one of Sophie’s favorite people to spend time with and we appreciate it so much.”

“Kier was outstanding with watching our large breed, energetic dog while my husband and I were out of state for a long weekend. He was super communicative and gave a thorough summary at the end of each day with a ton of photos and info about their day together. He was also flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed last minute and left our apartment spotless. It's clear that Kier has a passion for caring for animals and we can tell our dog was well loved while we were away. We will absolutely work with Kier again in the future!”

“Meaghan was wonderful with our little puppy. You could tell that she loves animals and that she knew how to handle a first time meeting without causing the dog unnecessary anxiety. That allowed us to leave feeling secure that Maisie was in good hands!”

“Danny was wonderful! He stayed at our place for 3 nights and watched two of my elderly (12-13 yo) little 9 lbs dogs. He was extremely professional and responsible - prompt with replies, followed up politely when I failed to respond in a timely fashion, and left the house in very good order. I highly recommend Danny and would absolutely seek him out again.”

“Came home to a spotless house and a very happy dog. Tons of communication and pictures. It’s nice to not have to worry about the fur baby while you’re away having a good time.”

Absolutely loved having Nina watch Louie! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ She was on time, attentive, caring, and took such great care of him. She kept me updated and followed everything I asked. Louie absolutely loved her! I would definitely recommend Nina and would happily have her watch Louie again! ❤️

Lady was wonderful. My first time leaving my little Charlie alone and he was happy well taken care of and she kept me at ease with her updates. She is calm experienced and I will 100% be hiring her again. She left my place better than when she arrived. I know it’s hard to trust a new person with your special dog but I assure you he/she is in great hands with Lady.

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better person for our reactive boy, Tuxedo! Albert was absolutely amazing from start to finish and has officially become our favorite. ❤️ He was incredibly communicative throughout the entire weekend and sent us tons of photos and updates, which made us feel completely at ease while we were away. He was so calm, patient, and playful with Tux, and it was obvious from the photos how comfortable and happy Tuxedo was with him. What really stood out to us were all the little things. Albert even waited for us to arrive home so that our apartment door wouldn’t be left unlocked for even a few minutes. He left our apartment spotless, and on top of everything else, surprised us with the sweetest printed photo of Tuxedo as a little gift. 🥹 Albert was thoughtful, responsible, caring, and genuinely wonderful with Tux. We came home to a very happy dog and a perfectly clean apartment. We will 100% be booking him again and feel incredibly lucky to have found him. Couldn’t recommend him more!

Meghan came over before her stay at our home, took notes, shared them for corrections, was flexible with last minute medication changes, and provided routine updates. She also provided updates outside of her usual cadence from an abundance of caution when one of our pets was having some stomach trouble. Our pets are older, with prescription diets and some mobility quirks, but Meghan handled everything great. The house was exceptionally cared for and our pets were clearly loved in our absence! Have zero hesitations trusting Meghan with our pets for any length of stay!

My usual cat sitter wasn't available, so I hired Riley to house-sit for my cat, and I'm SO happy I did! She was communicative, friendly, considerate, and made my cat feel comfortable and happy from the start. She sent me photos every day, and I could tell my cat was getting lots of love and attention. When we returned home, our apartment was just as clean as we had left it. It's such a relief to find someone you can completely trust with both your pet and your home. I would absolutely book Riley again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful pet sitter!

I get super nervous & am very very particular with who I let into my home to care for Zeus because of a couple of previous bad experiences. From the start, I could tell Samantha was going to be amazing. And she was INCREDIBLE. She was communicative, followed alllll of my neurotic instructions, left my space in pristine condition, and really went above & beyond. I actually think my dog might have a crush on her so I cannot recommend Samantha enough. Part of me wants to gatekeeper bc she was that good, but everybody deserves to have peace of mind when they have somebody caring for their fur baby and Samantha provided that and more. Thank you SO much 🥹

Alexa was absolutely wonderful for our pup Warbler! We had a last min trip that she helped us out on, which coincided with a bit of a tummy upset for Warbler and she handled his specialized diet and kept a close eye on him for us. We felt completely safe with him under her care. Warbler loved getting to spend the weekend with her and she took great care of our apartment as well. She was very communicative and gave us lots of great updates! We will definitely book with her again!

Victoria was a delight! She came over for an initial meet & greet with my two cats (6 & 1 YO) and stayed to watch them overnight a few weeks later while I was out of town. She was super communicative and my cats were so well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend her & hope to have her back in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East New York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East New York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East New York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
