“Meghan was excellent! My cat was well taken care of and loved having her around for company. I enjoyed the daily photo updates Meghan sent! Would 100% rebook!!”

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Avary. From the second we connected until we parted ways, Avary stood out as exemplary. Communication was beyond what could be expected, and the thoughtfulness, care, consideration, respect… are just a few words that now come to mind thinking about this experience. I’ve never met anyone — especially through Rover — who had seemingly gone above and beyond to match an existing routine. The true tell was that my dog was willing to take Avary on our USUAL hour-long night walk; something he highly protects. It was so clear that he was completely comfortable after less than a day and was happy to be able to stick to his pretty standard routine because of how well Avary learned and stuck to it too. Would 100% ask back again (and will)!!!”

“Darian, showed up a little early which I appreciated. It gave us time to connect and share more details about Luigi. They were very communicative and updated regularly with photos and message! I felt that he was in good hands, they even did some training which was great. The next time we need a full day sitter I’ll be sure to use their services!”

“Rachelle remains our go to cat sitter after several years of using rover. She takes great care of our babies and always sends cute pictures + updates. Even our grumpy cat likes her, which says a lot. Grateful to know we can take trips without worrying about the cats when she‘s with them.”

“Em watched Buster for a few days and we could tell he was is good hands while we were away. We appreciated the updates and pictures each day. We will definitely ask Em to watch Buster again!”

“book ren if you can! she was super super amazing with my socially problematic dog who has a biting history. ren did a great job reading his body language and knowing when to give him attention and when to give him space. she followed all the instructions i left and i came home to a tired and happy dog.”

“Christina took such good care of our dog for more than two weeks and agreed to stay an extra day when our flight home was delayed. She sent us pictures and updates every day. I certainly hope she is available next time we need a dog sitter.”

“Kier took amazing care of our pets. He went above and beyond for our sweet but high attention animals. We came home to a tired and happy high-energy dog, and a well brushed and cared-for chronically ill cat after two weeks away. Our dog is usually a basket case when we come home but this time, he was relaxed from getting attention and enough exercise from frequent walks and dog park visits.”

“Iggy was amazing with Darby, as well as being a house guest. Very understanding and communicative, both respectful of my home, as well as my dog--couldn't have asked for a better experience! Will definitely be rebooking and highly recommend!”

“Sadie was a great house sitter to have while I traveled. She was a great communicator and easy to reach out to and schedule with. She provided updates on my cat and took good care of my apartment. I was happy to find my cat in good spirits and home clean and just how I left it. Excited to rebook with her the next time I’m away.”

“Tess took great care of our dog while we were away! Communication is A+ and we always felt like our pup was in great hands. Tess was also very neat and left our house just as she found it.”

“Michael was an excellent house sitter, took care of everything, was flexible, took my booking at the last minute when someone else canceled on me, and went out of his way to make sure that both me and my very anxious dog were comfortable before I left. I will be booking him again.”

“Meaghan was so great! She left my place clean and my cat Louie happy after house sitting for me. She was very responsive to my messages and gave Louie lots of attention and care.”

“Schirn was wonderful and our dog immediately seemed to feel comfortable with her. She was very communicative and willing to help problem solve when an obstacle arose. Felt very comfortable with Schirn and would love to have her watch our dog again!”

“Danny was wonderful! He stayed at our place for 3 nights and watched two of my elderly (12-13 yo) little 9 lbs dogs. He was extremely professional and responsible - prompt with replies, followed up politely when I failed to respond in a timely fashion, and left the house in very good order. I highly recommend Danny and would absolutely seek him out again.”

“Evangelia was amazing with my Pittie Mauna. She took such good care of him while I was away and was so communicative the entire time. I absolutely loved getting all of the great photos and videos while I was gone. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for someone who truly treats your pets like they are her own and will definitely be booking with her again!! Thank you so much I know Mauna will miss you!”

“Lenford made me feel comfortable that Charlie was in good hands while I was away! He sent many pictures in which Charlie looked like he was having a blast. Lenford also worked with me when my flight was delayed until the middle of the night and stayed with Charlie until we were sure I would be getting home soon.”

“Jasmine was housesitting our greyhound while we were away for a long weekend. If you're looking for a kind and reliable caretaker, Jasmine is it. Her love for animals really shows and our dog fell enthusiastically in love with her right away. She was always very responsive and shared frequent photos with us while we were away. Looking forward to booking her for our next trip.”

“Maddieson was great! She has great energy and is very communicative. Kept me updated throughout and Belle was very happy and relaxed with her. Highly recommend her for your pet care needs.”

Tom has watched our big dogs twice now and has been such a wonderful caretaker while we’re away! Our german shepherd and great dane love him and we can rest assured that they’re in the best hands. He even works on leash etiquette with our GSD! Super communicative and sends lots of updates too.

Albert was amazing with our dog Ollie when he stayed at our house for 5 nights - he sent pictures and videos every day and stayed later than expected on the day we were scheduled to arrive home because our flight was delayed. Looking forward to booking again in the future!

We’re so happy with the care that Eden provided for our cat Eidee once again! Eden not only helped to make our anxious (and loud) cat feel comfortable during our vacation, but also dealt with non-cat related house sitting things with such grace, humor, and kindness. We had a big AC leak in our apartment on the last day due to the upstairs unit and Eden handled that like a pro, including cleaning up puddles, making sure Eidee was safe, and moving our electronics away. Eden went above and beyond once again and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you!

Iris took such amazing care of our dolly girl for 2 weeks while we were abroad. It was so comforting knowing our pup was in such good hands, and she sent us pictures and videos regularly to check in! She also stayed at our apartment and left it spotless. Thank you so much Iris! We will definitely be using her again!

Ruby was incredibly attentive and thoughtful as a sitter! It is clear she loves & is experienced with animals. While watching my kitten, she pointed out some things she noticed with his behavior and gave me constant updates. Would definitely book her services again and highly recommend her to other pet parents!

Ariel went above and beyond with her care of our sweet cat and dog. They both immediately loved her. She provided us with updates that kept us reassured our fur bbs were in good hands. She even cut our dog’s nails and gave her a bath. We will definitely be booking Ariel for another stay.

We’re so happy we found Katherine. Our dog, Jesse, can be a bit challenging with new people and requires patience on his walks, but Katherine handled him with grace and confidence. It was our first time leaving him with a sitter, so I was a little nervous. She kindly agreed to meet us beforehand, which immediately put us at ease. During the stay, she kept us updated with plenty of messages and photos, making it clear that Jesse was in great hands. She also left our home clean and organized. Jesse has a new friend, and I’m a happy dog mama.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 18,895 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East New York. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East New York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East New York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East New York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
