“Rachelle is a stellar sitter! Our somewhat finicky cats enjoy having her around and she goes above and beyond to care for them, check in, and make sure our apartment is well taken care of. We can't say enough good things. We'll definitely ask her to cat/apartment sit again!”

“Another great day being able to go to work and know that my boys are in good hands with Jewel! She is communicative, punctual, and a natural with interacting with the dogs - not giving them too much attention when it would make them overexcited, and being very kind and affectionate when the time is right. I certainly recommend her to you.”

“Tedy was caring and sweet, she is very knowledgeable. My dog was nervous at first but she was great with him and he warmed up to her. She kept us informed and up to date with everything and sent many videos. We will be using her again for walks and dog sitting.”

“Gabby is the beeeeest! Do yourself a favor and book her! She's the sweetest, most communicative sitter I've had. My girl and house were just as I left them. Will definitely book her again!!”

“Justin was a great sitter for our Dobie Chief! My husband and I went away for a long weekend and last minute reached out to Justin for home sitting care having never booked him for before. He was quick to respond and was kindly flexible to agree to coming at 11am the next day and staying for the weekend duration. We had a brief meet and greet and departed for our destination. Justin is very calm, kind and asked great questions. We felt very comfortable right away and he did great with Chief. Definitely book Justin for your dog sitting need! We will be reaching out to him again for sure.”

“Kaylee is amazing. Our 1 year old pitbull loved her from the first minute. She is truly a "dog person". Our dog Cannoli had surgery earlier in the week. Kaylee followed all our instructions with medication and sent videos. We could see our baby snuggled up with Kaylee sleeping. I will Absolutely be booking again.”

“Em watched Buster for a few days and we could tell he was is good hands while we were away. We appreciated the updates and pictures each day. We will definitely ask Em to watch Buster again!”

“Isabel was fantastic with our pup while we were away. She was communicative, attentive, and clearly took great care of him. The regular updates gave us so much peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“Very detailed and professional. My 3 fur babies who have never opened to somebody in first meeting so quickly did so in 10 min of his arrival. He seems very passionate abpit his profession:)”

“Camille was so great!! She was super communicative and sent a bunch of pictures while I was gone. She understood Ronnie’s behavior needs and took great care of her. Overall it was a great experience:)”

“As expected, Imani took great care of Lucky and Shelby! We came back to two happy pups and had peace of mind our entire trip knowing they were in great hands.”

“Alexandra did a great job with our 17 year old cat. We were out of town for 3 days and came back to a very clean living space and a very content Isis. Would definitely recommend Alexandra for overnight sitting with your pet!”

“Kier was absolutely AMAZING! He was so caring with my 2.5 year old Cockapoo - and sent me updates/photos multiple times a day. My pup looked like he was having way more fun with Kier than he does with me :). Thank you, Kier!!”

Alexa was absolutely amazing!! She was incredibly warm and friendly at the meet and greet and was great meeting my high energy pup. Her care during my time away was fantastic- great communication, frequent updates, and plenty of photos which all gave me absolute peace of mind while being gone. I cannot recommend her more and will absolutely be reaching out for future stays! I came home to a very happy pup (and a clean home!) and could not have had a better experience. Thank you Alexa!

Five stars all around! Madison was lovely to work with, they were thoughtful, incredibly friendly, and proactive with communication. They took amazing care of not only Sabzi, but our apartment as well--my husband and I were grateful to come back home from our travels to a happy, relaxed pup. Would absolutely book Madison again in a heartbeat. TYSM :)

I get super nervous & am very very particular with who I let into my home to care for Zeus because of a couple of previous bad experiences. From the start, I could tell Samantha was going to be amazing. And she was INCREDIBLE. She was communicative, followed alllll of my neurotic instructions, left my space in pristine condition, and really went above & beyond. I actually think my dog might have a crush on her so I cannot recommend Samantha enough. Part of me wants to gatekeeper bc she was that good, but everybody deserves to have peace of mind when they have somebody caring for their fur baby and Samantha provided that and more. Thank you SO much 🥹

Savanna is one of the sweetest pet sitters I have ever had. She is so patient and sweet with both my pups, even my rescue who is very timid. It's so valuable to have someone you trust. Whenever Savannah is sitting, I never worry about them because I know they are in good hands. She is always on time and keeps me informed on the sit. I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for a loving pet sitter.

Regina was such a thoughtful, caring, and attentive sitter for our two cats. She sent pictures and video clips every day, and let us video call them when she could sense they missed us. She was considerate and kind, and I loved that she created a genuine connection with our babies, so much so that she will miss them. I highly recommend working with Regina. Thank you for making our week-long vacation worry-free!

Our pups had another great visit with Jordan! He continues to be such a help as we settle in our foster dog with our dog. He took the dogs on separate walks and also together based on how they were interacting, which we appreciated. Also really appreciate his communication style and his proactive approach to caring for our dogs.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Ozone Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Ozone Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Ozone Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
