“Isabel was fantastic with our pup while we were away. She was communicative, attentive, and clearly took great care of him. The regular updates gave us so much peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“Christopher was communicative, caring, and receptive. He provided a great help to me over the weekend and he will be the first one I reach out to again for assistance.”

“Another great day being able to go to work and know that my boys are in good hands with Jewel! She is communicative, punctual, and a natural with interacting with the dogs - not giving them too much attention when it would make them overexcited, and being very kind and affectionate when the time is right. I certainly recommend her to you.”

“Camille was so great!! She was super communicative and sent a bunch of pictures while I was gone. She understood Ronnie’s behavior needs and took great care of her. Overall it was a great experience:)”

“This was our first time using a pet sitting service and were very happy we booked with Schirn. She was punctual, communicative, friendly and our Sadie seemed to warm up to her instantly. We had no worries with leaving our girl in Schirns care.”

“Mandel was an amazing house and pet sitter for us, even taking care of all of our plants! I would highly recommend Mandel to anyone with anxiety about leaving your pets. We were updated several times a day about our babies, and were so at ease knowing they were well taken care of.”

“Shewta was so great with our pup, Rico! She was attentive, communicative, and sent us several photos throughout the day, along with updates. Rico can be stubborn (as bulldogs go) but Shewta managed him perfectly. Would have her back to watch Rico anytime!”

“Kier is the best. He has been watching my dog for several years now, and he always takes great care of him. Sending the best photos and updates and just being a wonderful person that I know I can trust with my pup.”

About: We were a dog family growing up! Dachshunds, Saint Bernards, Old English Sheepdogs, Yorkies, Airedale Terriers. We had (and loved) them all. After getting married my hubs and I didn’t have dogs for a couple of years, and when we did we lived in apartments, so we got our sweet dachshund, Lola. She was our faithful companion for almost 15 years. We miss having dogs around us so much, and we’ll treat your pets as though they were our very own I work full time from home, but my schedule is very flexible. My husband also works from home, so it’s pretty rare for one of us to not be around. We live in a very pet-friendly building. We have a little dog run for those late night bathroom breaks. We have two very close (within a couple of blocks) grassy areas, and a dog run just a little further. We’ll give your pup whatever exercise routine you prefer.
“Isis is awesome! She was highly communicative, sent photos periodically, and was flexible when I had a last minute schedule change. My dog felt so comfortable with her and I will definitely book her again!”

“Tedy was absolutely exceptional at house and cat sitting during my first trip in several years. Both cats instantly fell in love with her, she kept my home tidy, and really made me feel safe and assured knowing they were safe and loved in her hands. Tedy is now a friend and the sitter I will rely on forever, she’s amazing.”

“Angela did a great job watching my dog while I was away. My dog has some special needs for prescriptions and Angela was good about making sure he got what he needed. She started at the house and when I got home everything was as I had left it. I am really appreciate being able to trust having someone like Angela come over to take care of my dog.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Queens
I get super nervous & am very very particular with who I let into my home to care for Zeus because of a couple of previous bad experiences. From the start, I could tell Samantha was going to be amazing. And she was INCREDIBLE. She was communicative, followed alllll of my neurotic instructions, left my space in pristine condition, and really went above & beyond. I actually think my dog might have a crush on her so I cannot recommend Samantha enough. Part of me wants to gatekeeper bc she was that good, but everybody deserves to have peace of mind when they have somebody caring for their fur baby and Samantha provided that and more. Thank you SO much 🥹

Alexa was absolutely wonderful for our pup Warbler! We had a last min trip that she helped us out on, which coincided with a bit of a tummy upset for Warbler and she handled his specialized diet and kept a close eye on him for us. We felt completely safe with him under her care. Warbler loved getting to spend the weekend with her and she took great care of our apartment as well. She was very communicative and gave us lots of great updates! We will definitely book with her again!

Savanna is one of the sweetest pet sitters I have ever had. She is so patient and sweet with both my pups, even my rescue who is very timid. It's so valuable to have someone you trust. Whenever Savannah is sitting, I never worry about them because I know they are in good hands. She is always on time and keeps me informed on the sit. I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for a loving pet sitter.

Isabel did a very nice job with my dog Onyx. She was with him for two days and one night. She followed every instruction I gave, and kept in touch with me the whole time. She also kept the house very tidy as well. The cherry on top was the fact that she left her own little note to me and I really appreciated that. Would definitely book her again.

Charlie was fantastic. I needed a last minute pet sitter and am so glad I found him. He had great communication, fast response time, and my dog loved him and I was able to enjoy my trip knowing she was being well cared for. I've used Rover before and it has been an up and down experience due to people initially agreeing and then not responding or cancelling days later. I'm really happy to have found Charlie and can't tell you how much I appreciated his quick and reliable communication.

I cannot express enough how happy I am we found Phaedra! Shelby and Lucky instantly warmed up to her and we knew right away they’d be in great hands while we were away. She kept me updated the whole time and spent a lot of time working with Shelby, who is afraid of everything and is very reactive on walks, and it was amazing to see the difference in her from when we left to when we got back. We came home to happy pups and a clean house. I will definitely have Phaedra watch Shelby & Lucky again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Queens walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Queens maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Queens choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
