“Amazing sitter!!! Schirn stayed with our elderly fur babies and took incredible care of them and our apartment while we were on vacation. We were in constant communication (but not too much!) before the stay, during, and after we got back home to make sure we settled back in okay. Upon meeting Schirn, you and your pets will immediately be at ease because she is a pro- comforting, reliable, trustworthy and truly goes above and beyond. The daily pictures and updates showed our pets were happy and when we got home we could tell they were very well taken care of. I highly, highly, highly recommend Schirn for picky pet parents!”

“JJ was awesome with our pets. Lots of love and attention for our dog and cat plus the house was taken care of. Will definitely book again on our next trip. Thanks JJ for all your help!”

“Isabel was fantastic with our pup while we were away. She was communicative, attentive, and clearly took great care of him. The regular updates gave us so much peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! My event was delayed and she ended up staying with my boy for an extra hour. She also took him on a long walk and sent lots of pictures. I didn’t worry at all about him and was able to enjoy my night. I’ll definitely be booking her to watch my baby in the future!”

“Jewel was quick to respond to my request and asked many good questions before agreeing to house sit. She also wanted to have a meet and greet before our appointment which I really appreciated. She is very communicative, thorough in terms of what is expected and knowing what the dogs need, and very good-humored; she even took notes during our meeting. The dogs were immediately comfortable with her and I was perfectly confident leaving them in her care. She gave me updates during the day, and everything was great when I returned. The dogs were happy and so was I. I would certainly request her to stay with them again.”

“Angela was a great houseguest and did an amazing job with our boy Oliver! She was kind and responsive and took care of all of Oliver's needs! Our place was clean and I can't say enough about what she did for us. She would be a great house and dog sitter for you if you ever need to go on a trip and need your pup looked after!”

“Andrea is a fantastic sitter. She took such good care of Melvin while I was away. She sent lots of updates and photos. She also left my apartment perfectly clean. I highly recommend Andrea!”
About: I've cared for both dogs and cats my whole life-- I've never lived without a pet! I also have experience as a volunteer caretaker through my local animal shelter, and a deep passion for animal welfare and happiness. I work part-time and am a part-time student, so please check my calendar for availability. I have class from 4-9pm Tuesday & Wednesday and my work schedule is typically the day shift on Monday and Thursday. Again, if there are any deviances, I will mark them on the calendar! I'm happy to let your pet set the pace-- if they're a cuddle bug, I'll give them snuggles, and if they need some time to warm up, I'll sit quietly while they get used to me. If your puppy feels the need for speed, I'll take him on a sprightly jog, but if your senior prefers to take the scenic route, we can stop and sniff every tree. I'll listen to your instructions and preferences and theirs.
“Vanessa was great with our dog and guinea pig while my family was away. She was communicative, sent pictures and videos, followed all our instructions and took great care of our house . We will definitely use her again.”

“Brenda is wonderful! Sumo had such a lovely time with her, and we would tell he was very well taken care of. He's a big guy but she handled him with ease. We absolutely recommend Brenda for your pittie -- they will be very well cared for!”
“There are dog sitters who feed and walk your pup and there are those who truly love and care for your them in a way that is so memorable, you can see it in the way your pup loves them back. Shwetta is all of this and more. Not only does she give our dog some of his best weekends, but she is always very flexible with the humans and our unpredictable schedules. We highly appreciate and recommend her lovely services!”

“Cassidy was amazing with our 2 year old German Shepherd, Bella. Bella was living her best life while we were gone on vacation, with plenty of TLC, walks and play time. Cassidy has a contagiously joyful attitude and love for dogs. She's also a considerate house guest. We highly recommend her!”

“I had to take a last minute business trip and Chase kindly accepted my request to puppy sit on short notice. While I was away, Chase sent me lots of photos of my fur baby and kept me up to date on how things were going, which put my mind at ease. I’ll definitely be reaching out to Chase again next time I have to go away.”

“Bliss was wonderful with Quigley! He is a Senior boy and blind, so he requires some special care. He got exactly that from Bliss. I got pictures and videos throughout the weekend and Quigley was so relaxed and happy when we got home from our trip. It's so important to find someone who is not just good with your pets, but communicative with you as well! Bliss was superb.”
About: Hi I’m Jullia :) I love all things animals! I have 3 kitties at home that I spend quality time with daily: Kettlecorn, Honey Bun, and Hambone. I spent 4 years working at several doggie daycares and 1.5 years in a pet store, I’ve seen most kinds of pets and behaviors as a result. Please feel free to contact me with any preferences or questions regarding my services and I'd be happy to help. I also pride myself in responding quickly. Safety is always a priority when it comes to your pets so don't be afraid to reach out. I can't wait to meet your pets! I have 3 cats I spend quality time with daily! I’m always attentive to specific instructions regarding safety. Please don’t hesitate to provide specifics about how to best maintain the safety of your animal, your home, and myself. Thank you!
“Vivienne calm and patient with Lego who is a very particular and anxious dog. She was punctual, communicative, and she was very responsible with my apartment housesitting as well!”

Five stars all around! Madison was lovely to work with, they were thoughtful, incredibly friendly, and proactive with communication. They took amazing care of not only Sabzi, but our apartment as well--my husband and I were grateful to come back home from our travels to a happy, relaxed pup. Would absolutely book Madison again in a heartbeat. TYSM :)

Shweta was amazing!! She house sat for my dog for the weekend, and I came home to a spotless apartment and, most importantly, a very happy dog. She took him on plenty of walks, sent me lots of pictures and updates, and was super communicative the entire time I was away. She also helped take care of my turtles and made sure they were fed, which I really appreciated. It was clear she took great care of everyone and the apartment while I was gone. I would absolutely love to use shweta again!!!

I get super nervous & am very very particular with who I let into my home to care for Zeus because of a couple of previous bad experiences. From the start, I could tell Samantha was going to be amazing. And she was INCREDIBLE. She was communicative, followed alllll of my neurotic instructions, left my space in pristine condition, and really went above & beyond. I actually think my dog might have a crush on her so I cannot recommend Samantha enough. Part of me wants to gatekeeper bc she was that good, but everybody deserves to have peace of mind when they have somebody caring for their fur baby and Samantha provided that and more. Thank you SO much 🥹

Alexa was absolutely wonderful for our pup Warbler! We had a last min trip that she helped us out on, which coincided with a bit of a tummy upset for Warbler and she handled his specialized diet and kept a close eye on him for us. We felt completely safe with him under her care. Warbler loved getting to spend the weekend with her and she took great care of our apartment as well. She was very communicative and gave us lots of great updates! We will definitely book with her again!

Savanna is one of the sweetest pet sitters I have ever had. She is so patient and sweet with both my pups, even my rescue who is very timid. It's so valuable to have someone you trust. Whenever Savannah is sitting, I never worry about them because I know they are in good hands. She is always on time and keeps me informed on the sit. I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for a loving pet sitter.

Isabel did a very nice job with my dog Onyx. She was with him for two days and one night. She followed every instruction I gave, and kept in touch with me the whole time. She also kept the house very tidy as well. The cherry on top was the fact that she left her own little note to me and I really appreciated that. Would definitely book her again.

Charlie was fantastic. I needed a last minute pet sitter and am so glad I found him. He had great communication, fast response time, and my dog loved him and I was able to enjoy my trip knowing she was being well cared for. I've used Rover before and it has been an up and down experience due to people initially agreeing and then not responding or cancelling days later. I'm really happy to have found Charlie and can't tell you how much I appreciated his quick and reliable communication.

I cannot express enough how happy I am we found Phaedra! Shelby and Lucky instantly warmed up to her and we knew right away they’d be in great hands while we were away. She kept me updated the whole time and spent a lot of time working with Shelby, who is afraid of everything and is very reactive on walks, and it was amazing to see the difference in her from when we left to when we got back. We came home to happy pups and a clean house. I will definitely have Phaedra watch Shelby & Lucky again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Queens walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Queens maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Queens choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Queens. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
