“Blown away by Anabel's extensive experience with dogs! I am completely new to this and gave me a WEALTH of information that will make a huge difference in my care with Prince. And this was just the consultation!! I look forward to using her again. Prince absolutely loved her.”

“Syd came highly recommended from several friends and neighbors and it is very obvious why. She has both a keen behavorist / dog psychology understanding, the ability to very effectively teach us pet parents (lets face it: 50+% of dog training is training the dog owners to do the right things), and a lovely empathy and genuine joy in interacting with our puppy. Our puppy felt calm and secure in her presence. Do not hesitate to contact her!”

About: Owning a dog can be hard, the not knowing if the dog is happy or what the dog needs. If only dogs could talk! That’s where I come in. My goal with clients is to help them build positive communication skills with their dog and for pup to feel comfortable enough to express to the pawrent what is needed. It’s a fine balance that once built, provides a bond between owner and dog for life!
“My first time meeting Nefeli was very comforting. She made me feeling confident and was very patient. Even after the session she checked in with me and gave me a summary of everything I mentioned. I Highly recommended booking with Nefeli for the betterment of yourself and your pet.”

“As a professional dog sitter/walker, I highly recommend Liz. She’s extremely patient, trustworthy, and knowledgeable about dogs. She is a clear communicator, with a good sense of humor and I turn to her for advice often whenever I have a dog question.”

“Karen is currently hired on a contract in our facility as our main Dog Trainer, we receive very great reviews on her and her training. She utilizes positive training as we only allow that style of training, she utilizes enrichment games. She has learned some of her skills from a world renowned agility sports trainer Susan Garrett and has taken some of her courses, she also follows the Karen Pryor click training which help mark the correct behavior wanted.”

“Eileen has been so helpful with training Finn. I adopted him from a shelter and the transition was definitely challenging. He struggled with anxiety when alone, scared of all people, not potty trained, and little to no confidence. He has definitely come a long way since then! Now he is potty trained, able to meet new people, has great recall as well follows several commands. He is also comfortable home alone now while I'm at work. A lot of this is thanks to Eileen helping us along the way. We've done two courses with her and plan to do a third to keep Finn progressing. Would highly recommend!”

About: I am a force free trainer who has over 5 years of dog handling experience. I tailor training plans to suit each case, monitor progress and adjust accordingly. I don't believe in forcing people into commiting to a set number of lessons, because each dogs learns at a different pace and each owner needs to balance the time committment of training to his or her unique lifestyle. I help you try to find that balance while paying as you go.

About: It’s very important to train dogs as early as my possible to utilize their innate communication possibilities to learn, desired behavior. Quality training can influence their learning ability.
“Margaret was incredibly thoughtful and genuinely lovely to work with. She brought fresh ideas every time we hit a roadblock and understood my dog in a way that felt both intuitive and practical. She always had a creative solution ready to go, and thanks to her approach, my dog made a ton of progress in such a short time. 10/10 recommend!”

“Holly’s love for dogs is immediately evident in everything she does. Working with dogs isn’t just her job or task—it’s her passion. She brings deep skill, patience, and genuine kindness to every interaction, creating an environment where both dogs and their humans feel supported and understood. Holly is a true professional, intuitive and knowledgeable, and she approaches training with compassion and respect. I can’t recommend her highly enough for anyone looking for thoughtful, effective, and heart-centered dog training.”

“Heather is a very nice and patient dog trainer, when Cinnamon struggled with group sessions, she went out of her way to do one on one sessions to make sure Cinnamon had the best care. She puts your pet first and makes sure they feel comfortable and safe. I recommend working with Heather for the best care of your pet.”

“I had a great experience with Roderick! Even on the first day, my dog already showed noticeable improvements. She’s not pulling as much on walks and is becoming more obedient. Roderick was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything so I could keep up the training at home. Highly recommend!”

“Working with Aisha has been a great experience. She helped me build a strong foundation in basic obedience training and, more importantly, taught me how to properly give commands in a way that helps my dog become calm and focused, instead of just reacting or doing random behaviors. She explained everything clearly and helped me understand how my actions and timing affect my dog’s mindset. I’ve seen a big improvement in my dog’s ability to settle down and listen. I also feel much more confident handling different situations now. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for real, effective training.”

“Madeline is the best! She's passionate about what she does and dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and their guardians. She makes training fun for both ends of leash and she's effective. Can't recommend her highly enough!”

“Elissavet is great! So far we had two sessions with her, the first was an introduction to my dog and his environment, we addressed the most important issues my puppy is going through, he’s 1 year and 9 months, maltipoo. She gave me valuable techniques I applied in my journey of training my pet. The second was even better, that same night my dog already was learning from the techniques she showed me, we addressed so many things in this second session, every minute was worth it! Besides Elissavet is very warmth, nice and she actually listens pay attention to your concerns. I’m putting a lot of time plus effort into training my dog, that’s helping also. I recommend her 100%.”

“Overall the session went fine. She was on time. Very friendly and approached with positive reinforcement. She did some basic obedience training with my pomeranian puppy to assess where she is at. Our biggest challenge we have is trying to get a harness or collar on her and we tried it out. Our pup is definitely a tough case… she tried giving some suggestions on what we can do. However after our session she has not responded to me at all. We were looking forward to working with her more but she hasnt responded any questions since.”

“Shar was amazing with my puppy, she was able to teach both my puppy and I great communication skills to further my dogs training. I will be scheduling follow up trainings with Shar for sure!”

“Excellent !! We learned a lot in our first session. Finneas was very cooperative with Jessica's commands. Her techniques are very effective. We cannot wait for our 2nd meeting !!”

“Joshua has been amazing with my dog, Charlie. He uses positive reinforcement methods that have really helped Charlie make huge progress with his anxiety and reactivity. After each session, Joshua sends extremely thorough summaries with his observations and next steps, and he even does regular check-ins to see how things are going. It’s clear how much he truly cares. He’s also really flexible and easy to work with. I’m so grateful we found him!”

Dog Training FAQs
Frequently asked questions about Rover
Trainers listing on Rover must be credentialed dog trainers, commit to reward-based training methods, and pass a background check to offer dog training in Brooklyn.
Reward-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes; treats, play, or toys. Reward-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.
When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.
Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.
Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!
Rover makes it easy to find Brooklyn dog trainers to provide loving care from their own home. The background-checked, 5-star trainers you can find on Rover will work with you and your dog to build new skills and address behaviors. Dog trainers can work on:
- Puppy training, adult dog training, agility training, clicker training and advanced training.
- Behaviors such as barking, leash manners, leash reactivity, house manners, jumping, fearful behavior, anxious behavior, separation distress, recall, biting, chewing, mouthiness, potty training and resource guarding.
Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.
Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.
Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.
Review a trainer’s profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact them to ensure they’re the right trainer for you and your pet.
