With patience and consistency she helped Laurie change some behavior patterns and learn new ones. “I recently had a zoom consultation with Shar.. needless to say she was AMAZING!!! I seeked her expertise in teaching me new strategies in helping my puppy settle into a routine. Lets just say I left with several notes! From something simple as where her wee wee pads are placed, to cognitive chew toys and simple commands Shar had answers to them all. You can tell right away she truly has a heart for animals. She stopped periodically to make sure I fully understood what she was saying, and if I didnt, she gave great examples that I was able to relate too. I am definitely looking forward to our next meeting in 2 weeks.”

About: I am a force free trainer who has over 5 years of dog handling experience. I tailor training plans to suit each case, monitor progress and adjust accordingly. I don't believe in forcing people into commiting to a set number of lessons, because each dogs learns at a different pace and each owner needs to balance the time committment of training to his or her unique lifestyle. I help you try to find that balance while paying as you go.
“I had a great experience with Roderick! Even on the first day, my dog already showed noticeable improvements. She’s not pulling as much on walks and is becoming more obedient. Roderick was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything so I could keep up the training at home. Highly recommend!”

“Margaret was incredibly thoughtful and genuinely lovely to work with. She brought fresh ideas every time we hit a roadblock and understood my dog in a way that felt both intuitive and practical. “We had a phenomenal experience working with Chris and will be reaching out to him again for any dog training needs in the future! We have a 5 year old cavapoo (male) who had some minor behavioral concerns. Chris brought his vast knowledge/experience into our home and the changes we saw in our dog have been amazing. His training techniques/strategies were extremely helpful and we continue to use/reinforce them as owners. We would highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a dog trainer!”

“Liz is a compassionate, brilliant person who deeply understands both dogs and the people who love them. Even a seemingly small piece of advice from Liz greatly improved my communication with my dog and had a noticeable effect. Liz is non-judgmental and takes the time to deeply understand both you and your dog. I am choosy about who I trust regarding my dog, but Liz truly loves dogs and understands what makes them tick. I could not recommend someone more highly.”

“Highly recommend Aisha! 🐾 Our dog, Vinnie, is a good boy but used to get extremely anxious around loud noises and broadcast, trying to run away immediately. We did 4 classes with Aisha, and she taught us how to use leash corrections and specific commands to help desensitize Vinnie and keep his focus on us. The results speak for themselves: Vinnie can now walk calmly right through a construction site! If you need a skilled, effective dog trainer, Aisha is the one to choose!”

“He did such an incredible job with my female French Bulldog, Becky. She came into training thinking she ran the whole place but the patience, structure, and consistency completely transformed her. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Trainers listing on Rover must be credentialed dog trainers, commit to reward-based training methods, and pass a background check to offer dog training in Borough of Bronx.
Reward-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes; treats, play, or toys. Reward-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.
When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.
Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.
Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!
