“Freddy loved his stay with Emma and Wes! From the meet and greet to drop off, they were so friendly and very responsive. We really appreciated the daily updates and photos! Will definitely reach out again for future stays!”

“Syd is simply the best! Oliver didn’t want to leave Syd’s home, he loves his time with Syd so much. We receive daily detailed updates & can fully enjoy our time away as we know Oliver is in great hands with Syd.”

“So glad to have found Maria and Michael. This was our first time leaving our adopted pup with sitters in NYC and they made the process so easy. Very knowledgeable, sent frequent check ins, and our pup loved spending time with them. Thank you! I'm sure Frijda can't wait until she comes back over!”

“Steven was responsive, generous, and kind. He communicated with us consistently and thoughtfully. Our aging Yellow Lab was very comfortable in his presence- Steven went above and beyond for us- and we are very (very) grateful. We entirely plan to reconnect with Steven when we travel again. Thank you, Steven-”

“I am absolutely thrilled to leave this glowing review for Doris! She has taken care of Milo several times now, and each time I’m blown away by her warmth, reliability, and genuine love for animals. Milo always comes back happy, healthy, and clearly well-loved — it’s such a relief knowing he’s in safe, caring hands while I’m away. Doris is attentive to his needs, communicative throughout the stay, and truly treats him like her own. I can’t recommend her enough — she’s become a trusted part of Milo’s extended family. Thank you Doris!”

“Grace was incredible with our cat, Esteban. He was comfortable right away. She provided such great care that Esteban didn’t even want to leave 😅 Thanks, Grace!”

“Alfie has the absolute best time at Hannah’s! I know anytime he’s there that he’s safe, well taken care of, cozy & comfortable. Hannah is super responsive and truly sends the best picture updates! This is my 2nd time booking with Hannah and will absolutely book again :)”

“We wanted to find a sitter in our neighborhood for when we are away. Jane was amazing and took in Siuy as though she was hers. I received constant communications and photos and loved how Siuy and Fancy zoomied with each other. My hope is that Jane would be willing to look after Siuy the next time we are away. I don’t think I can trust another sitter!”

“Kyle was so accommodating of our last minute plans and took amazing care of our dog. She clearly had a lot of fun and he sent lots of updates and photos. I never even had time to worry or ask for an update, he just provided one! He was also super accommodating and helpful in working around our plans to drop her back home at the end of her stay, too.”
“Was a great first experience with Rover, she worked with us with drop off and pick up on times and sent us good pictures and videos of our babies. It was our first time leaving them with Rover. Would highly recommend and would definitely use her again.”

“After losing our longtime sitter we were on the hunt for someone we could trust to sit our anxious/ sometimes reactive dog. Nefeli could not have been more fantastic. She obviously knows dogs incredibly well and we could tell our girl was comfortable and very well cared for throughout her stay.”

“Joseph was a phenomenal host for our dog Louis, and was very easy to communicate with, would highly recommend and will definitely be rebooking in the future !”

“Tara is so nice and takes great care of my dog.shes great at communicating and giving updates. I had to work late in NJ and she was so nice about mickey staying 3 hours late.”

“Meg was wonderful and took excellent care of our (sometimes grumpy!) dog, Bruno. She has extensive experience with animals of all temperaments, was consistently responsive to messages, and proactively sent daily updates. While we were away, we had abundant peace of mind that Bruno was doing well and in caring hands. Most tellingly, when Meg dropped him off, Bruno was more interested in sniffing her and her car rather than saying hi to us, which to us epitomizes how great of a time he had in Meg’s care. She was very accommodating, generally as well as with drop off / pick-up, understanding of Bruno’s odd tendencies, and happy to indulge his absolute obsession with fetch. We will certainly be reaching out again in the future when we next need someone to look after our pup.”

“Gavriel is incredible! Kind, communicative, and caring. Efficiently sending regular updates. Provided a great, calm, safe and tranquil environment. My pup really enjoys her care, I can tell!”

“Deanna is amazing. She stayed in contact with us and sent pictures with daily reports. Ferris seemed VERY relaxed during his stay with her. We will be requesting more stays at Deanna’s in the future!”

“Kiersten & Casey were (/are) amazing. Highly communicative, tons of photos, clearly massive dog lovers with lots of experience. Can’t say enough good things!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Brooklyn
Ben provided excellent care for my seven year-old dachshund Coco. He sent me daily updates which provided comfort for this dog dad. Coco seemed happy and well cared for upon picking her up. She was wagging her tail and turned back to say goodbye to Ben (and his sweet Chihuahua, Colby) I highly recommend Ben to provide care for your pup... Coco will definitely be back!

I really couldn’t ask for a more caring and attentive person to care for my dog while we took a two week trip abroad. Camey created a home away from home for my dog and went the extra mile to ensure he was comfortable and loved. I so grateful for the wonderful care he had while we were away and would 100% book again with Camey.

CinDee watched our dog, Wilson, and we could not have been happier with her care. We were nervous about leaving him, but we were so glad to find someone reliable and trustworthy here in the city. CinDee was very friendly, and Wilson absolutely loved her. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great dog sitter.

Ari was great! Truly created a home away from home for my nugget. I appreciated her responsiveness and proactive updates while I was away. I was also grateful to her for being open to meeting Koa prior to his stay and being attentive to his care instructions. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for care for their pup while they’re away and will absolutely be booking her again.

They are doing sooooo well at taking care of Benben. With tons of pictures and videos. I had a wonderful trip not worrying my cat at all. Benben had a good time there. And they are very responsive and supportive on ad hoc date changes when I might not be able to catch the flight back.

Wei took exceptional care of my senior cat, Fig, while I was overseas for two weeks, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Fig stayed in Wei's apartment, where she made him feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely at home. Before confirming the booking, Wei met me for coffee so we could get to know each other and make sure it was a good fit. From the start, she was thoughtful, communicative, and genuinely invested in making Fig feel welcome. After meeting her, I felt completely confident leaving Fig in her care. Fig has a fairly involved care routine that includes multiple medications twice a day. When I dropped him off, Wei and I went through his medication routine together. It was new to her, but she was eager to learn and determined to get it right. She handled everything with incredible attentiveness, patience, and care throughout his stay. She asked thoughtful questions, carefully followed all of his routines, and made me feel completely at ease while I was thousands of miles away. Throughout my trip, Wei sent regular updates and photos, which gave me tremendous peace of mind. Fig is a very people-oriented cat, and it was wonderful to see him comfortable in her home and receiving so much affection. Of course, the best sign of all was that Fig came home relaxed, happy, and completely himself. Wei is kind, responsible, patient, and clearly has a natural way with animals. I would book with her again without hesitation. If you're looking for someone who will treat your pet like family, I can't recommend Wei highly enough. She’s wonderful!

Carissa is absolutely incredible!! I’m so grateful to have found her. She is so clearly a true dog lover. My pup stayed with her for over a long weekend and had a blast. She sent me photo updates everyday so I never had to worry about how he was doing. I will definitely work with her again! Thank you Carissa!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
