“Willow had the best time!!! They really were so communicative, and helpful and sent so many pictures and updates it was a relief for me! Willow has special needs and they really made sure she was comfortable and put at ease and I can’t wait to use them in the future!! Thank you!”

“Megan is amazing! She took all three of my babies and treated them as her own. Her family babied my babies and she sent me daily updates and took them on walks. I picked up my babies and they were calm and happy. I have found my sitter for life!!”

“Doris is amazing! I almost don't want to give a review in case she will get booked up by other people and then Milo won't get to stay with her. Doris is very attentive and always sends pics and Milo comes home happy. I trust that Milo whi started going to Doris as a puppy, is in good hands with her and her daughter.”

“Gavriel took amazing care of my dog for 5 days, and I couldn’t be happier. From the start, communication was clear and reassuring. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. My dog came back happy, calm, and clearly well cared for. I would absolutely trust Gavriel again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.”

“Tara truly cares about your pet. Tara pays attention to your needs and instructions and asks great questions to make sure your pup can have the best time while you are away. She and Ivy had a great time together- hanging out, exploring the neighborhood and even invented a new game to play. It was wonderful to get updates, pics and videos. Thank you again, Tara!”

“Maria and Michael watched our two Shibas for 4 days and they were amazing! We met them first so our dogs could get familiar with them and their apartment, which is really helpful as one of our dogs is anxious around new people. They took great care of both our pups and were accomodating towards our dog's weird quirks. We got lots of pictures throughout the stay, and our dogs clearly had an amazing time staying with them. We will definitely be using Maria and Michael again, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy dog sitters!”

“Laura took great care of my dog, who takes meds and is clingy. I got lots of reports and pics during his 6 day stay, and I could tell he was at ease in her home and became good friends with her dog Rex.”

“Our dog Chester loves Jelfri! It’s been his third time watching him and Chester feels right at home with Jelfri and his family. Great communication and frequent picture updates which we appreciate!”

“We have worked with Brett a few times now, and he is absolutely the best! Astro always looks forward to his stay with Brett and he took great care of him for another extended stay while we were traveling. Brett goes above and beyond taking care of our high energy dog, and continued to manage his reactivities, while giving us plenty of updates and feedback. Always 10/10! Thanks again and until next time!”

“Grace is the BEST dog sitter! She is always so attentive to my dogs needs! We’ve used her multiple times and she is always my go to for anything. She is so good at giving updates and sending us photos. Our dog is always sad to leave her! Thank you so much for taking such good care of Ricky!”

“Five stars for Jane! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I left my beloved pug, Lord Ginsberg, in Jane’s care while I traveled to Mexico, and I truly could not have asked for a better experience. Lord Ginsberg is not your average dog. He has his own routines, preferences, quirks, and very strong opinions about comfort. Jane understood all of that immediately. Her patience was absolutely legendary, and she took the time to learn his specific needs and little eccentricities without ever making me feel like I was asking too much. What meant so much to me was how communicative she was throughout my trip. She regularly sent adorable photos and videos of Ginsberg, which gave me tremendous peace of mind while I was away. Every update made it clear that he was happy, comfortable, and being genuinely cared for. Jane is not only responsible and attentive, she’s also warm, funny, and incredibly understanding. The best compliment I can give is that I could tell she truly enjoyed Lord Ginsberg’s company. She wasn’t just watching him, she was spending time with him and appreciating his unique little personality. She even came to understand his profound and unwavering love of cheese, which any true friend of Ginsberg quickly learns is a very important part of his worldview. When I came home, I found a happy, relaxed, well-cared-for pug, and that’s every pet parent’s dream. I can’t thank Jane enough for the care, kindness, humor, patience, and attention she showed him. Anytime I travel in the future, I will be hoping Jane is available to take care of Lord Ginsberg again. She has my highest recommendation.”

About: Animals have always been a part of my life as I've been a sitter for friends, neighbors, and fosters in need. I treat every dog like my own baby. And I mean every dog so bring me your pitbulls, your high energy herders, your insecure pups and I will give them a happy vacation home. I got my PhD in neuroscience studying animal behavior, learning, and memory and built my training philosophy based on what I learned. I specialize in behavioral training for puppies and adult dogs to make sure every family can enjoy their four-legged friends without stress. I believe in customizing training or care to each dog and prioritize the dogs comfort and safety. I work from home so I can board during the week or on weekends. Individual training sessions are available evenings and weekends only. I will occasionally go out in the evenings for a few hours at a time. I don't have a yard but live across the street from prospect Park where your pup will have lots of time to sniff and run around on leash. I don't believe in using dog parks except for training from outside the fence. I have space in my home for a dog bed and/or crate but am happy to allow dogs on my furniture if it's allowed in your home

Kyle did a great job taking my little guy while I was on a last-minute business trip. He felt very trustworthy during our meet-and-greet beforehand, which made me feel much more comfortable. Constant communication, updates with pics, and flexibility with drop-off and pick-up times make this an easy choice for any future needs. Highly recommend!
Ariel was amazing! Duke stayed with her from 7/14-7/23 which was 3 days longer than expected because our flight home got canceled - normally this would send me into a tailspin but I knew Duke was in great hands with her. She sent pictures and videos of Duke with her dog and the other dog she was watching and I could tell Duke was having a blast. When we picked him up, she had a box of treats for him and a new toy - she really went the extra mile to make sure Duke was loved while we were away!

Reetu is so sweet and really goes the extra mile for your pet. Our dog stayed with her for the first time, and was extremely nervous and shy (our girl has anxiety due to being abused by her previous owners). Reetu was patient and kind, taking the extra time to work with her. We received consistent updates and pictures about how our dog was doing. Although Luna was a handful (we’re so sorry!) Reetu handled her with all the empathy we could ask. We highly recommend her!

As always five stars I would give 10 if I could! This is our fourth stay with Katya, and she's consistently been wonderful. She's incredibly communicative throughout the whole stay, sending updates and photos so we always feel at ease while we're away. You can tell she genuinely cares about the dogs she watches, not just as a job but because she really loves them. On this stay, something unexpected came up, and Katya handled it with so much patience and care. That kind of dedication says a lot about her as a sitter. I’ve never once worried about leaving Skye with her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who treats your dog like family.

Alex was AMAZING with my little floofy senior boy Sean! He can be shy but Alex made him feel so safe and at home - he loved his time there and came out of his shell right away. Lots of great photos and updates throughout. Alex is definitely our go-to from now on 🐶😊

Maria is an enthusiastic and well-prepared sitter who really loves and understands dogs. Our Frenchie Lucy was very well cared for while we were away for a week. Maria did thoughtful extras like noticing her skin was irritated and applying a calming solution twice a day. She had multiple dogs boarding, which turned out to be a bonus for Lucy to have playtime buddies, and I could tell Lucy got individual attention and snuggles. Lucy wanted to stay and give her more kisses! I'd be confident in having Maria care for Lucy anytime.

Kayla was so amazing! It was clear from the beginning that she wanted to make sure my dog Layla felt comfortable and had all her needs met. She provided summaries of how Layla was doing each day along with pictures and videos and reached out for advice whenever issues came up. I had no concerns about whether Layla was properly being taken care of and it was the best feeling. I’ll definitely request her services again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
