“Matt was fantastic with my dog Tako. She took to him instantly, which she rarely does, and I felt comfortable with him right away as well. Easy communication, easy drop-off and pick-up - would absolutely recommend!”
“Pepper had the best time with Aashika! We received regular updates and lots of pictures, which we really appreciated. Pepp came back happy and clearly well taken care of. We will definitely rebook for another fun stay for Pepp and worry free travel for us!”

“Anky is one of a kind, she's the best dog walker and sitter I've had the pleasure to work with by far. She has great attention to detail, puntuality, diligence and kindness. Most importantly you can tell immediatly she does love animals and truly enjoys taking care of dogs. The moment I left little Trufa with her I knew she would be in good hands. Couldn't recommend more!!”

“Anastasiia was awesome! I boarded my dog with her while on a work trip. She was super reliable and sent regular updates with pictures and my baby (dog) seemed so well cared for! She also communicated quickly and was very flexible when my flight was delayed. Would definitely book with her again in the future!!”

“Kiersten and Casey did an amazing job with Nyla. She settled in quickly with no issues, which can be a challenge at times with Nyla…,plus I got a few beautiful portraits of Nyla. Talented for sure, you can see their love for dogs. I will definitely be rebooking!”

“Ellana is always so great watching our french bulldog, Sully. Sully arguably leaves his visits with Ellana happier than when we drop him off!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our pup Gomi this week! Vera was very caring and attentive to Gomi’s needs. Communication was fantastic — frequent photos and videos gave us comfort knowing he was in great hands, and she kept us updated on everything from his eating to his bathroom habits. Gomi came home happy and relaxed, and we’d happily consider booking with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Onelsis was an excellent dog sitter. She sent regular updates with pictures and it was very easy to schedule drop off and pick up with her. Seamless and caring!”

“George had another great stay at Maria’s! He ran right into her place at dropoff, glad to be back, and came home happy and tired from playing with his friends there.”

“Peih is a total pro. I’m always a bit nervous leaving my dog with someone new, but the constant stream of photos really kept me at ease. It was clear from the updates that my pup was getting some serious mileage on those long walks. Most importantly, Peih actually listened to the diet restrictions. Reliable, active, and highly recommended”

“Adam was great! It was the first time we were away from our puppy over night and we were very nervous. He took great care of her and sent us videos everyday! Will definitely use him again:)”

“John, took excellent care of our girl Cici. He was very communicative and always sent me pictures of her. She came back extremely happy. Cici is definitely looking forward staying with John again!”

“Christine and Addison are truly special cat sitters. We recently went to Europe and had to leave our nervous 3 year old cat for almost 2 weeks. He had never been watched outside of our home, and we knew he would be anxious. For the first couple days he was very nervous and scared being in a new place, but Christine and Addison were extremely sensitive and patient with him. They kept him in a separate space where he could start to relax and then slowly introduced him to the rest of the home and the other cats as he became more and more comfortable. We received constant updates about how he was doing, along with photos and videos. After a few days he was having so much fun and had made 3 new kitty friends by the time we had to pick him up. I almost felt bad taking him away as he'd become so content being there! We knew he was in competent and caring hands while we were away which gave us great peace of mind. If you need to board your cat Christine and Addison should be your top choice!”

“Lal was great! Very communicative and Joey had a great time w Hank and her cat. Sent lots of updates and made us feel very comfortable during Joey's stay.”

“Sabina took care of our pup for 5 days as we were out of town. Throughout the process, she was super responsive and thoughtful to our needs, picked up our dog from someone else’s place, and even allowed us to deliver food to her home. She continuously sent photos and videos to reassure us that our dog was in a safe and pet friendly place. I would highly recommend Sabina to anyone looking to have their dog boarded, we will definitely be using her again!”

“Angelique was a lifesaver. She took care of our sweet boy while we were away for the weekend. She was so attentive and communicative when he had unexpected stomach issues and made sure our boy was well taken care of. Truly appreciate her and could not recommend more highly!”

“Serena was amazing! My dog has never calmly gone to a Rover before and she went happily right into Serena’s arms despite never having met her. She looked so happy in all the videos she sent while I was on a trip and enjoyed playing with Serena’s two dogs. We also had a ton of travel disruptions- cancelled flight so had to leave a different day, 6+ hour delay- and Serena was supportive and helpful navigating the app and updating times. Very very grateful and hopefully we will be booking again!”

“Rochelle is super reliable and took really good care of my kitties. Gave me updates on them daily basis. Highly recommend her because I would hire her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New York City
Laura was absolutely phenomenal! I needed a sitter last minute and was extremely nervous. But after speaking with Laura all my nerves were put at ease. She was attentive and sent updates daily. I was always able to get in contact with her and never had an issue with communication. I will 1000% be becoming again for as long as she is willing to watch Bentley. Bentley came back just as loved and spoiled as when I dropped her off which is always the goal.

Samantha took excellent care of my two dogs! She was very accommodating of my last minute booking request and kept me up to date while I was away. From the update and photos Samantha took, they looked very comfortable with her. My pups were all smiles when we picked them up too! Would absolutely recommend Samantha to watch your pup!

There are 14,338 sitters on Rover for Pet Boarding in New York City. About 88% of New York City sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.
Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
