“David took excellent care of my dog. He sent check-ins regularly and was easy to coordinate with for pick up and drop offs. I would definitely book again.”

“John and Madeline were lovely sitters for our dog, June. We boarded June with John and Madeline for a weekend as a test run before a longer stay in April, and everything went smoothly. They were communicative and sent regular updates. June seemed to have a nice time, and we look forward to having them look after June again!”

“Anne is incredible! She is reliable, friendly, and attentive to all of Frank’s needs. She keeps me updated throughout the day with photos and messages of all activities. If you’re looking for someone who will go above and beyond and treat your dog as their own, Anne is the perfect match!”

“This was my first time being away from Chai for a trip so I was very nervous. Jennifer was very communicative and reassuring, always kept me up to date with pictures and videos which put me at ease knowing my baby was safe and having a vacation of his own. Will definitely be bringing him to her again.”

“Anastasiia is a wonderful sitter! Communication was easy and seamless, she gave us daily updates and was very accommodating for pick up and drop off. I felt assured Ginger was in great hands while we were away.”

“I’m a kind of crazy pet parent with a 10 page dogsitting guide. Kiersten read the whole thing, remembered every detail, texted to make sure of things… She was amazing. Highly, highly recommended!”

“Adam was great! It was the first time we were away from our puppy over night and we were very nervous. He took great care of her and sent us videos everyday! Will definitely use him again:)”

“Kira was amazing with my dog, Kiki! Kiki takes a few different meds and Kira was on point with giving her all her meds on time. Kiki was comfortable from the beginning with her! Footsie was a welcoming companion and Kiki, who can get overwhelmed with some dogs, really enjoyed spending time together. I would highly recommend Kira and Footsie for your dog sitting needs!”

“Ivette and her husband took really good care of my pup! He was happy and well-fed when he returned home :) They were also very accommodating and sent a lot of photos. Alfie had a great time and we will be booking again in the future.”

“Ellana was a life savor! She was able to take Mae on short notice and provided her a dog vacation. I had not used rover before and was nervous to leave my dog with someone I did not have time to meet in person prior. Luckily Ellana was able to FaceTime and her responsive and transparent communication made me feel comfortable. She then sent me photos everyday. I will be using her again.”

“I really appreciated how communicative Lal was. She sent lots of photos and videos and it felt very reassuring. Lal is very kind and I know she put in great effort to make Jaz comfortable.”

“Karin and her husband Charlie were so sweet and caring to our pup Tumi. Tumi is a bit new to us (we adopted her only a few months ago), and we were a bit nervous about leaving her for a long weekend. Karin made us feel so comfortable the whole trip sending the sweetest photos and videos. They loved on her the whole time, and we could tell she had a blast. Thanks, Karin and Charlie!”

“Kira is absolutely amazing with dogs and our go-to sitter. We have a high-energy pup and Kira is great with her and has a calming effect. She’s a great communicator and I’d highly recommend her!”

“Summer is fantastic. Couldn’t have had more confidence that she was going to treat my pup like a member of the family that she is. Very communicative and flexible. My dog loves her”

“Tiffany and Joel took wonderful care of our puppy Theo. They were awesome at sending lots of photos and updates throughout the day, making us feel super comfortable and happy to see he was having a great time. Would recommend them to anyone on Rover and I’m sure Theo would love to stay with them again!”

“Cayla and Matthew are amazing. This was Theo’s first time staying with a sitter and he had a blast. They sent so many updates via photos and videos and it made us feel so at ease while we were away. It’s not easy at all to care for a 4 month old puppy, but they went above and beyond. We will definitely have Theo stay with them again!!”

“Christine and Addison were a God send today! I booked them last minute to board my cats for a few hours and they were so flexible and accommodating ?! I received video and picture updates throughout the day. This was a great first experience with Rover!”

“John is great with my tiny poodle! My girl Eva has anxiety and I know she must be crying for me pretty badly at first.. since she annoys my own family when I leave. When she comes back home after a stay at John’s she is literally so much more relaxed 😌 He communicates with a daily update that brightens our day. Thank you John for the care!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New York City
I had the best experience boarding my dog Arlo with Liqi for over a week! I’m always so nervous trying new Rovers, but she gave so many detailed updates with pictures, she is so sweet and made me feel so assured that Arlo was in great hands. You can really tell she loves dogs and I could tell Arlo had such a nice time with her. I look forward to having her watch Arlo again and I’m sure he does too!

Stephanie was very helpful, loving and super responsive. She took such good care of our dog, Lego, and we have been very happy with her services. She walked Lego, created playdates for him, socialized him, and followed all our instructions around Lego's temperaments. We love Stephanie, and we will definitely book her again.

Our pup had such a great experience with Cyndi and Paul. This was our first time using a rover sitter and from the first meeting they made us feel so comfortable knowing our dog was in great hands. They were incredibly friendly, responsive, and sent tons of pictures which we loved. We look forward to working with them again in the future and would recommend their services to anyone!

Nadia has been a wonderfully reliable sitter for Louie since we moved to Brooklyn in 2012. Now, at almost 15, he requires special food and medication and Nadia has no problem managing his more senior dog needs! I have great peace of mind when we are away, knowing Louie is with Nadia.

William was great with my dog, Jax! He communicated throughout Jax’s stay and sent pictures/updates daily. Jax was happy and well cared for, and I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in good hands. I already have another stay booked with him and will continue to use William in the future. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
