“Bridget is an excellent dog sitter. Our pyredoodle is a bundle of separation anxiety, for us and him. Bridget sent frequent updates and pictures showing how well he was doing and allaying our concerns. Highly recommended.”

“John was great - Extremely responsive and kept me updated while my dog Ollie stayed with him. I gave so many instructions because Ollie has separation anxiety and John took them all very well. When I got Ollie back he was so calm and relaxed because John took such good care of him!”

“Eva is reliable and communicative and Merritt likes her. He gets lots of walks and one on one attention with her. She puts our minds at ease when we must travel without our beloved Merritt.”

“Ashley was so amazing - she went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were cared for (especially when my little pup was having stomach issues unexpectedly). Nothing phased her and she was super communicative along the way. Can’t recommend her enough. Trust her 100%!”

“Mitchell was great with Monty! He was very friendly, flexible about my schedule, and was a great communicator. He sent adorable photo updates of my dog (who stole all of Marsha’s dog toys lol) too!”

“We left Phoebe with Angela for a short stint, and felt very comfortable. Angela is in a doorman building, her apartment is spotless, and she was on top of her duties the entire time. She sent us photo after photo showing Phoebe enjoying herself. When I picked her up, Phoebe dug in her heels and didn't want to leave. We will definitely repeat.”

“Christine and Addison were a God send today! I booked them last minute to board my cats for a few hours and they were so flexible and accommodating ?! I received video and picture updates throughout the day. This was a great first experience with Rover!”

“Shishi and her husband were amazing! They really took the time to check in and send updates and photos through out the stay. You can tell they really love dogs! I knew my pup was in good hands and being well taken care of while I was away which made me feel so much more at ease.”

“Pratik is one of the best care takers I’ve ever experienced through Rover and I could not recommend him enough - the way he truly cared for my corgi Koda and made him feel so at home meant the world to me. I will absolutely be reaching out to Pratik again and I will recommend him to everyone! Your pup will be in perfect hands!! 🥰”

“I’ve asked Vera to look after Haru a couple of times, and she treated him with the same love and care as if he were part of her own family. Thanks to her, I was able to travel with complete peace of mind. I’d love to ask for her help again next time, and if anyone nearby is looking for a dog sitter, I highly recommend her.”

“Sabina took care of our pup for 5 days as we were out of town. Throughout the process, she was super responsive and thoughtful to our needs, picked up our dog from someone else’s place, and even allowed us to deliver food to her home. She continuously sent photos and videos to reassure us that our dog was in a safe and pet friendly place. I would highly recommend Sabina to anyone looking to have their dog boarded, we will definitely be using her again!”

“Euitae was the best dog sitter I’ve ever had. Euitae was responsive and so so attentive and caring for my senior guy, Jack, taking Jack for lots of walks and adventures in the park, and even a dog café where Jack got to make new friends. I’m so incredibly grateful for Euitae and 1000% recommend him as a sitter! I can’t wait to call Euitae again, Jack had an AMAZING time.”

“Sydney was a great sitter. She communicated well and responded quickly to our request. She welcomed a "get to know you visit" so that our dog could meet Henry her cat. She updated us with photos and was flexible with our drop off and pick up times. We will certainly use her again.”

“This was my first time leaving my fur baby and it was a long one, 10 days! Deanna was awesome, and she made me and Simba feel so comfortable. She sent daily updates in photos and videos. Her and Zeus were freest hosts and I would definitely recommend her and will be using her in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New York City
Monica and her family watched our dog Frankie while we were out of town for a week. Thanks to their frequent updates, we felt confident Frankie was being very well cared for, and her feeding/schedule instructions were precisely followed. We wouldn't hesitate to have Frankie stay with Monica again!

This was our first time leaving Willow for such a long stretch of time, and our first time leaving her with John and Madeleine, and we couldn’t have been happier! They were so kind, caring, and understanding, and went above and beyond to keep us updated with detailed messages and photos every single day. We never once felt like we were bothering them by giving them extra details or asking how she was doing. We truly felt that Willow was getting as close as she could to the experience of being with us. They took the time to really get to know her, understand her quirks and special personality, and give her the individual attention and care she needed. We are so appreciative of how lovingly they cared for her and would absolutely trust them with her again.

Anky was absolutely incredible with Greta! I was a little nervous about having someone watch a puppy since they can be such a handful, but Anky was amazing from the start. She treated Greta like her own, gave her so much love and attention, and made sure she had all the care she needed! which is a lot at this age! We felt completely at ease knowing Greta was in such good hands. I would highly recommend Anky to anyone!

We’ve used Lucas a couple of times now for overnight boarding and most recently for a long stay of 10 nights. Archie comes back happy, well cared for, and tired. He loves being boarded with other dogs too. Lucas is reasonably flexible with pick up and drop offs which is super helpful! He always sends updates when we ask. It can be hard to find someone that will take on a big dog in Hoboken and were very glad we found Lucas.

Kim is super communicative, providing lots of picture updates and a play-by-play of what my dog was up to while she was being boarded! Maybe had a great time playing with her friend Milo and didn't want to leave — for the whole day, she kept trying to walk back in the direction of Kim's apartment!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
