“Ashley was so amazing - she went above and beyond to make sure my dogs were cared for (especially when my little pup was having stomach issues unexpectedly). Nothing phased her and she was super communicative along the way. Can’t recommend her enough. Trust her 100%!”

“Milly was so kind as to take our pup for a last minute request and he had a great time! She was well prepared to handle his separation anxiety and gave him some yummy natural treats as well. We will definitely be booking again.”

“Stacey and Andrew took amazing care of our dog Benny! They were so communicative, accommodating, and flexible. We would definitely book with them again in a heartbeat.”

“Denis and his wife are so sweet and took great care of our dog while we were at a concert at Forest Hills stadium. Would 100% use them again. Close to the R train!”

“I was looking for a sitter for my dog, Franky, and found Iliana on Rover. If you're looking for a sitter and considering hiring her, look no further and book right now! Her reviews speak for itself, but I will say that Franky did not want to leave her when we picked him up after his 3 night stay! She went above and beyond for Franky, sleeping with him at night, deshedding him, bathed him, took him out to the park. She never left his side, and is very caring to the animals that she watches and 'treats them like family' (her words), which is excellent. She texted us multiple pictures of Franky during his stay, which made us feel that much better, since we never leave Franky alone. That made a stressful time (for both us and Franky) that much more easier. We will definitely book her again.”

“Aleksandr took such great care of our senior dog, Baxter. He was so patient and kind, even with Baxter’s stubborn moments and frequent accidents. We loved getting photo updates and could see how happy and comfortable Baxter was with him. We’d definitely have Aleksandr care for him again!”

“Victoriia was an awesome care taker for my dog! She took her out frequently to play and walk, and made sure to send me frequent update photos. My pup came back calm and smiling. I could not recommend her enough. Would definitely book again!”

“My dog absolutely loves going to Ryan & Jefra ‘s! The moment we pull up, his tail starts wagging like crazy because he knows he’s about to have the best time. They treat him like part of their family — he gets tons of love, attention, and playtime. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing he’s in such caring hands. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter! Highly recommend!”

“Alanis and Marco are by far the best dog sitters I have come across on the Rover app. Gigi and I absolutely love them and I will only use them anytime I have to leave Gigi.”

“Millie always has a fabulous time staying with Kiersten and Casey. They take such good care of her and send lots of updates. It gives us peace of mind knowing she’s happy!”

“Absolutely amazing!!! It was our first time using Rover and Jisu and her husband made us feel so at ease. She sent us so many updates and photos. We could see all the awesome attention they were giving our dog Sauce, and frankly he looked like he was having the time of his life. Very thankful to of found them. Highly recommend - 10 stars!”

“I can’t say enough wonderful things about Lillian and Picasso! They were incredibly compassionate, patient, and caring while watching Ozzie, my very shy and timid boy. From the start, they took the time to earn Ozzie’s trust, never rushing the process and always respecting what he was comfortable with. Lillian’s responsiveness was also outstanding—I always felt at ease knowing that Ozzie was in such attentive hands and she shared so many updates with me. It’s rare to find someone who truly understands and cares for animals the way Lillian does. Picasso was also such a sweet doggy coach, letting Ozzie know everything was okay and giving him lots of attention and comfort during his stay. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a kind and affectionate sitter!”

“Tamara was actively engaged with our 2 Westies and took excellent care of them. She kept us informed of their activities with notes on what they were doing, how they were acting, and sent lots of pictures. They went on walks and got to hang around the house (like they normally do at home! ;) ) I think she really spoiled them (in a good way!). They had a wonderful time with her. We don't go to NYC often, but when we go next time and need a sitter, we'll definitely ask for Tamara again!!! She gets an A+++++ rating!!!”

“Elena was able to take Kiwi last minute while I had a family emergency. Not only was she able to step in, she did an amazing job with Kiwi. I knew Kiwi was safe, all her meds were given to her exactly as needed and she got all of her daily walks! I got updates and pictures, Kiwi had a great time with her 🩷 I would absolutely use Elena again, I feel lucky to have found her. I highly recommend Elena for any pup but she did especially great with my sensitive, high maintenance girl.”
“Rio had an amazing time with Tom, and I really appreciate the updates and pictures provided. I am definitely going to have Tom be Rio’s sitter again.”

“Wei Han is hands down the most caring, considerate, and responsible dog sitter/carer we know! Our dog loved being with her, and enjoyed her special treats and regular fun outings. He got a wonderful staycation while we were away, and came back to us happy and relaxed. Thank you!”

“Jatna is the absolute best. She took such great care of Minerva during my vacation. Minerva needed extra care with her food and regular hair brushing because she has an omega 3 deficiency and started getting really bad dandruff. Jatna made sure to add her fish oils and probiotics to every meal and brushed her regularly. She sent pics every day and let us know how she was before we even asked. Minerva looked so happy the entire time and had so much fun with her puppy friends we thought she'd never want to come back home!”

“Sarah gave Dante an outstanding stay caring for him while we were away visiting family do 3 days. She sent plenty of photos and kept us updated several times a day on how he was doing. She took Dante on 2-3 walks a day and gave him plenty of opportunities to make new furry friends at Central Park. Highly recommend Sarah and hope we can work together again!”

About: I’ve always been surrounded by dogs, whether it’s my sister’s or my cousin’s dog. As a nurse, I already have the compassion and caretaking qualities. If you’ll entrust your best friend to me, I’ll give them plenty of love and care. I’m a night shift nurse working three shifts a week. I’m always trying to take advantage of the daytime to catch some sun- hopefully your dog will join me in those times on a sweet stroll. A firm believer in touching grass, I’d dedicate my stretches of days off when I’m not working to take your furfriend out for some much deserved playtime! I live in an apartment that is dog friendly. My home has plenty of space albeit a one-bedroom unit. There is a security system built into place as well.
“Anastasia is an incredibly caring, attentive and loving sitter that took such good care of Luna. She was incredibly communicative and sharing with photos, videos and texts while we were away. I would highly recommend Anastasia and will be booking her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Astoria
This overnight was the beginning of what is turning out to be a longer emergency stay. My apartment sustained serious water damage and I couldn't have Fala here with remediation and demolition crews coming in and out. Fortunately Sammi and Jason were available and have been great about the extra nights I've added to this stay! I cannot wait to be reunited with my pup but I will be forever grateful for their care and flexibility, including purchasing dog food since I hadn't known to pack so much initially!

We are so relieved and fortunate to find Ashley who is experienced with taking care of senior dogs with special needs. Our dog Marco has to take medicines a few times per day, and Ashley took great care of him. Marco is also often anxious in new environment, but he enjoyed staying with Ashley and her dog Lily who are welcoming and gentle with him!

I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog received from Nicole! This was my second time using her but this time for an overnight. She was incredibly attentive, reliable, and caring. It was clear that my dog was comfortable, happy, and well looked after throughout their time together. I really appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing my dog was in such good hands. I highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter!

Nakyung needs the option to give 10 stars! I am an ex-dog sitter myself and have had my sweet aussie Lucia for 5 years, and I have pretty high standards for a dog sitter! Nakyung is an angel, she meets all of those standards and beyond. We found her while looking for a place last minute for lucia to stay for 2 weeks, and i can say if you get the chance to book her, you are very lucky! They listen to your requests, are very smart about how to handle dogs as well as how to introduce new dogs to eachother, and treat your animals so well. I cant say enough about how happy, safe, and well cared for your pet will be in her home. When we need care in the future, we know where Lucia will be staying.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
