“Agustina was an exceptional pet sitter. I noticed my dog was very happy and relaxed throughout the day. She kept me updated with frequent reports and photos of everything he was doing, even without me asking, which gave me great peace of mind. About: Whether you require daycare, boarding, house-sitting, or occasional drop-in visits/walks, you can count on me to treat your pet like a precious, irreplaceable gem! I’m the pawrent of a Pekingese dog, two Exotic Shorthair cats, and a Persian cat. I am also a foster meowmie for other kitties. I have experience with senior and special-needs pets, including as a volunteer dog walker for PAWS NY, an organization that helps people in need keep their pets in their lives. I will send you lots of photos and videos so you can be fully informed about the well-being of your pet/s. I am a full-time pet care specialist. In addition to dogs and cats, I’m also happy to care for bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, birds, and other exotic pets. I’ve read some horror stories about overnight sitters, as I’m sure you have. If I am house-sitting for you, I will be staying overnight in your home, so your pet will be in its usual environment. If you choose daycare or boarding with me, I will be staying overnight with your pet in a secure, cozy apartment with a fenced-in backyard (my own dog and cats won’t be present). I don’t walk dogs off leash and I don’t open windows for the safety of small dogs and cats. If your animal has any symptoms of illness, you’ll be advised immediately. If it’s hot out, I will ask that we run the A/C for the health of your pet. The well-being of your pet is as important to me as the well-being of my own pets.
“Eleanor was fantastic with my senior Pomeranian, Minnie, who was recovering from surgery. I needed someone on a short notice, and Eleanor came through. Minnie and Eleanor hit it off right away, and Minnie was well taken care of. I’m really thankful for Eleanor’s help and would rebook her!”

“Anastasia took amazing care of Sully. It was clear how happy he was after his stay! Anastasia was extremely responsive to all of our messages, sent pictures, and clearly has a vast knowledge of dog breeds, behaviors and tendencies. Looking forward to having her watch Sully again next week, thanks Anastasia!”

“Tingli was great with our very shy Shih Tzu Benji. She picked up his vibe and was so gentle and caring. She took so many pics which was very comforting. It was very obvious she bonded with him and she has such a great approach to her care with dogs. Highly recommended, very good communication/professionalism!”

“Priscilla has become a calm in my storm! She is always communicative, and helps me to much with my pup that has generalized anxiety and SA. Thank you so much! We love having you- especially me so I can have a few dog free hours in my week! 5 stars!”

About: I’ve always loved being around dogs and enjoy giving them the attention, care, and structure they need to feel comfortable and happy. Dog sitting is a great way for me to combine that passion with helping owners feel at ease while they’re away. I’m reliable, attentive, and committed to making sure every dog I care for feels safe, active, and well-loved. I currently work full-time, and I’m looking to board puppies and small dogs over the weekend, or take them for day sitting! No minimum of days required. I live in a brand new condominium building located in Long Island city, building does have a fenced outdoor parking lot where I take my own puppy to potty train and have playtime. This will be incorporated into your dogs boarding experience lots of outdoor space to play and a friend to enjoy with.

Allison was amazing and went above and beyond when caring for our dog. Allison was very communicative/responsive, sends adorable pictures and videos, and played a lot with our dog (who came home very happy and tired!). She is everything you’d want in a caretaker and we highly recommend her!

She is EXTRAORDINARY! Words can not do her level of professionalism and love of our dog Goose! She treated Goose and us just like family. She was kind and understanding...we tried to not be late for meeting which is hard in NYC with 3 children..She is the best fit for any situation!

Young was great with our nervous rescue puppy. He was patient and by the end of our booking, Reggie seemed to feel very comfortable with him. Young sent many updates about how he was doing and adjusting, which we appreciated. Will definitely book again in the future!

Kuan was great with my dog. He was very flexible with the schedule and very responsive with the messages. I reached out last minute and he was able to accommodate my schedule. Will be using his services again! My dog was happy to see him the next day for her second stay which gave me so much peace.

Matthew and Katherine were absolutely fantastic!! I was gone for the week of July 4th and they treated Mango to a true summer camp experience. He got to play in a little pool, run around the dog park, and watch the World Cup on their couch. Truly could not have asked for a better couple to have him stay with.

Jatna was amazing and I fully trust her to watch our pup anytime. We were visiting from out of town and she kept our young puppy and ensured he was well taken care of and loved on while we went to an event. Her communication was top notch and she kept me informed during his entire stay. I trust very few people, but I am glad we chose her to take care of our puppy. Highly recommend!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Astoria commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
