About: I’ve been walking and caring for dogs in the city for about 5 years. My most special experience is becoming very close to my husband’s two pitbulls-Rza and Yazoo! They have my heart! Before that, I walked and fed dogs in my neighborhood growing up I had an aussie-german shepherd who I trained and loved very much. I have a big heart for dogs and understand the skills and patience required. I am aware of the responsibilities that come with pet ownership. I understand all dogs have a different personality! I will be sure to give your dog extra love while you two are apart under a careful & safe eye. I have a very open and flexible schedule and you can count on me to be around! I have a 9-6 full time job so I only have limited availability. I am available only on Thursdays + Fridays so I am not very flexible for other days. I want to always make sure the dog has their necessities taken care of food, water, etc. and that they feel comfortable! I want to make sure the dog is engaged and feeling cared for.
“Our little guy LOVES Kat!!! She's very sweet, communicative, punctual, and you can definitely tell she really enjoys taking care of and loves animals. She sends us lots of pictures to let us know how he is doing and he always has a HUGE smile on his face. We have used her numerous times will continue to use Kat for upcoming stays and/or visits <3”

“JD is an absolutely fantastic dog walker!! He goes on long weekly walks with our very large, high-energy dog and does a great job with him! JD consistently takes care to keep our dog safe and reinforces good behavior on walks! He also sends thorough and very funny updates at the end of each of the walks so we’re always in the loop on how our dog is doing! He is also good at frequently communicating with us each week. In my opinion he is the best dog walker in the neighborhood!!”

“I’m so happy that Ana has been able to walk my puppy. She was available set minute when I was in a bind. She’s very communicative and is sweet to my little pup.”

“This was my first time using Rover and I was nervous about having a stranger walk my dog. My dog fell in love with Passang the moment she met her. I couldn’t be happier. I knew right away that she’d be in good hands. I could tell that she genuinely loves animals and loves what she does. Thank you Passang, you were amazing, Mia can’t wait to walk with you again.”

“Brianna was excellent with our two dogs and took them on a lovely walk in the park. Will definitely contact Brianna again for walks! She has a sweet, gentle way with animals”

About: I work from home, so I’m able to come to you to sit with your fur baby or host them at my place, if that feels like the best fit and your comfortable with that. For pups, I’m happy to provide short walks as needed. I have 25 years of experience as a cat mama, including administering medication and caring for senior kitties. I truly understand the peace of mind that comes from knowing your babies are being well cared for and would love to provide that for you! I currently work from home and live near Astoria Park. With a flexible schedule outside of scheduled meetings, I’m happy to fit in short walks during the workday. I can also welcome your fur babies into my home for short stays or come to you—whatever works best for you and your pet. I truly value any instructions you provide, as every fur baby has their own unique needs and preferences 😊. If you choose to bring your pet to my home, I’d be more than happy to have you stop by beforehand to check out the space. I want you to feel completely comfortable and confident leaving them in my care. I’ve also included a few photos of my home, along with my sweet Maxie, whom I recently lost to cancer, so you can get a sense of the environment

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Astoria
Hayley was great taking care of our pup Sophie. She took us on short notice when my regular walker left the area unexpectedly. She was great to work with. Met with me and Sophie before hand so we can discuss what we need. She was very responsive and helpful. Communicates very well. Letting me know how things were. She was very punctual. We are so happy to have her.

Nicole was amazing with Mylo! He can be hesitant to go on walks, but she was incredibly patient, gentle, and kind with him. She took the time to make him feel comfortable instead of rushing him, and it really showed how much she cares about the dogs she works with. I really appreciated her patience and the way she handled him. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was with someone who understood his needs. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog walker! Amazing person!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Astoria. On Rover:
- 87% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
