About: Hi! I'm Alexandrea, a lifelong animal lover, theatre professional, and devoted pet parent serving the Bronx and Queens. I've spent my entire life around dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Whether your pup is happiest exploring the neighborhood, taking a leisurely sniff-filled stroll, or getting some extra exercise, I tailor my care to their individual needs. As a pet owner myself, I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else's care. Communication, reliability, and safety are incredibly important to me, and I'll always treat your dog like one of my own. You'll receive updates, photos, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your best friend is getting plenty of attention, affection, and care. Whether you need regular walks, drop-in visits, or help while you're away, I'd love to meet you and your pup! I enjoy walking around this city with my four-legged friends or even sometimes going for a run! I'm committed to making sure your dog is living its best, active lifestyle. I am very open to all owners requests and needs, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure your dog is safe, and well taken care of when you are not around. Your family member is like a family member to me.
“Drew was an awesome dog walker and I can’t say enough amazing things about him! He came out to meet Bro before the walk to make sure everything went well. He also had patience when I forgot to give the lockbox code. Very grateful to Drew! Book him!”

About: Started caring for cats at 15 then would board friends dogs while they travel and have even fostered dogs at risk of euthanasia and/or stray dogs traveling from Texas. I work full time m-f however am able to wfh as needed and always have enough time to cuddle and play with furry friends. Weekends are always free for outdoor play time or indoor snuggle sessions. I am in a spacious apartment with a 3 year old cat and 9 year old dog. Both are friendly and love to nap all day. More than enough space to be separated if needed.

“Victor is great with Zuse! He is reliable, attentive, and clearly has a wonderful way with dogs. Zuse always seems happy and well-cared for after their time together. If you are looking for a walker who is professional and genuinely cares about your pup, I highly recommend Victor!”

“I’ve used Carmen few times, she was able to walk my dog Jasper in a short notice. Also one time she wasn’t able to make it, she was able to offer a refund, which I appreciate. I would use her again as she is communicative and easy to work with. Thank you!”

“Alex was our walker for 13 weeks! Multiple multiple times a week, she responded sooo quickly, soo professional and accommodating! Seriously my dog loved her and PJ and he walked so amazing!! She was able to somehow get him to pee in all weather! So glad to have found her thank you so much Alex!!”

“Nathan is a great walker. Since the meet and greet, Phoebe(my dog) and him got along together very well. Nathan was very understanding of phoebe being scared of the city noises during her walks and he even helped taking her out the building which we appreciate very much. He communicates very well, follows instructions to the dot and is very playfull with phoebe. If I didn’t have a permanent walker, I would’ve totally kept him. I recommend Nathan 💯”

“Such a delight to work with. She’s an effective and quick communicator. Super accommodating to your needs and needs of your pet. Alicia was flexible and made both of our schedules work. My dog, Fiona, took a liking to her immediately. Fiona could sense that Alicia is a good person and someone she can trust. Alicia was gentle with Fiona, so I could easily feel safe with her in Alicia’s care. I am currently injured with limited mobility, so Aleicia was also attentive to my needs and helped me out in the best way she could. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart because I have been so worried about providing Fiona with a regular walk schedule and proper exercise and she took a lot of weight off my shoulders. THANK YOU SO MUCH, Alicia!!! She went above and beyond for myself and my fur baby to provide an incredible and easy experience. She will be the only reason that I will continue to use Rover in the future.”

About: I have many years of experience taking care of animals since I was young, and I’ve always had a strong passion for their well-being. I love seeing animals happy, healthy, and thriving, and I take pride in making sure they are properly cared for. In my family, we have had over six animals, including a bearded dragon, two hamsters, fish, two dogs, one cat, and one snake. I was the main person responsible for taking care of them, including feeding, cleaning, walking, and making sure they were safe and comfortable. Currently, we have a 6-year-old chihuahua, and I take care of him daily by feeding him, walking him, and making sure he is doing well. I’m very attentive, patient, and responsible when it comes to animals of all types and personalities. My experience has taught me how to understand different animal behaviors and adjust to their needs, whether they are energetic, shy, or senior pets. I treat every animal like my own and always make their safety and comfort my priority. (I currently take bookings in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. ) Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I already take care of my own dog every day, including feeding, walking, and making sure he is healthy and comfortable. This keeps me consistent and responsible with animal care. I have a flexible schedule during the week, which allows me to take on walks and visits in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings. I’m able to adjust my time based on each booking so every pet gets proper attention, care, and exercise without feeling rushed. I care for pets by focusing on safety, routine, and making sure they feel comfortable in their environment. In a client’s home, I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk routines, and any specific rules the owner provides. I make sure doors are secure, pets are always supervised, and I pay attention to their behavior so they stay safe and relaxed. When walking dogs, I keep them on a leash at all times and stay alert to surroundings, other animals, and distractions. I take my time to make sure each walk is calm and controlled. Overall, I treat every pet like my own and aim to create a calm, trusting environment where they feel safe and cared for while their owner is away.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Melrose
Jamie was amazing! He was easygoing, communicated clearly from the very beginning, and made the entire experience stress-free. I felt completely comfortable and confident leaving Mr. Lucky in his care. He kept me updated with photos throughout the stay, and seeing how happy and relaxed Mr. Lucky looked gave me so much peace of mind. I would absolutely trust Jamie with Mr. Lucky again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Jennifer is great! I have a pitbull who is difficult to walk, pulls in every direction, eats stuff on the street, etc. But she is a quick learner and was willing to take it on. She is very knowledgeable about dog behavior and reading their body language. She is a great communicator and responds quickly!

Felicia was an excellent dog walker! My dog warmed up to her right away, which gave me a lot of confidence. After every walk, she sent me pictures and kept me updated on how he did, which I really appreciated. She was reliable, caring, and communicative throughout the entire experience. I would absolutely use her again, 100% recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
